Hi Guy's,
I was wondering if you could give me your advise or opinions. I am really big into Native American History and even live to alot of the code and creeds as they did/do. I also very intrested in Wicca, Pagans etc. Now the question I have is... Is it possible to be able to practice in all of these area's or can you only really chose one path, and if so how to choose. I am not lookng to be preached at just asking for a little help from people with more knowledge and experince than me..THANK YOU in advance for your help......
Personally I think your path chooses you. When I decided the faith that I was raised with didn't feel right to me as an adult.. I started looking into alternatives and reading everything I could/can get my hands on. Currently I consider myself broadly pagan, even though I started out studying Wicca. I learn what I can about other belief systems and go with what feels right to me. That's the simplest way I know of to put it. Spirituality comes from within.
destiny is already set out.
we meerly do what we are programmed to do.
Personally, I think the more you know the better. Just because you study one path does not mean you have to practice it. Learn as much as you are able and stay true to your soul.
i believe you can pratice morte than one. i know vamps on here that are wiccan
If your schizoid or psychotic you can pretty much do anything you like.
Taking and following the code of Native Americans? My I ask which one/s? One Hell of a difference between the tribes that lived in the Long Houses and those that hunted and killed and stole everything and everyone that wasn't in there own tribe. Some of these tribes were really serious killers. That is not a code that I wish to follow. But each their own.
So one day go into your neighboring town, and steal anything you want, kill and rape too. Because that was part of some codes. What the Hell. Then on Tuesday, for example, go suck on a neck or two. Wednesday you can go to the mall and psy feed. Lets see, Thursday is make Love spell day, or is it night? Friday and make it Saturday too, is frolic in the woods time. Which leaves Sunday for Mass. Because, you got some serious sins to confess.
Yep, its possible. O.o
As I said NOT looking to be preached at, I would have thought it oboviuos that it was the code of NOT killing, and yes well aware of the "Many Tribes"....
I would look deep inside yourself for that answer if I were you. Your soul will tell you which path to walk and how to live your life to the best of your abilities.
The point was obvious. Can you practice all religions? And still have meaning in any of them. Anyone can go through the motions. Even a chimp.
I hear how people follow the Native thing all the time, it's tiring. Not to mention the differences between witchcraft/Wiccan and paganism. And then add the vampy things too? Better to get your thoughts together before one even thinks of literally "following" anything.
and that's not preaching but basic stuff. don't get me preaching.
NightWalker~
You came to the wrong place if you did not want to be preached at, to many people like to do it!
And i think that you will find what you are looking for it always comes to you when you least expect it to, just keep learning and you will find what is best for you...
You choose your own path, you can be/do whatever you want! Don't feel resticted because someoe says you cannot do one thing along with another.
Personally, I have studied everything under the sun, from catholicism, all the way to native american culture. The only thing I can inform you is this.
All the studies are the same, simply differant names to said deity. All with the same moral concepts. So, my advice is to look into your heart and ask yourself whether or not the path you take next is not already the path you are on.
There is only a brook of blame, before you stepped in, fear had barred the way. Life is an ocean. Flow with the tide. May the great spirit help you on your journey.
i say do whatever is comfortable to you and go with what you feel
I'm never too sure why people feel the need to follow anyone's prior path unless they felt that those before them had it all right. Taking pieces of one and another seems to be more of a fashion accessory than spiritual interest. I mean is it valid or acceptable? I guess but the real question is what's the motivation. Underlying principles of a sect or the actual religion involved.
If you're interested in Wicca, that's a particular pantheon of gods...Native American would be a host of others (also dependent on tribes)...pagan (as has been said before) is not a single religion and includes anything non-judeo-christian and could therefore include bhuddism, taoism, hindu, and more (each with their own rules, gods, or ancestors).
If in fact, you find that it's ideas (respecting nature, ritual magic, etc) that you like but not the gods, spirits, prophets, then I say just make your own religion or life guidelines and don't worry about what to call it. Religion is really more of a personal relationship with the world anyway.
i think you should do reseach on these religions and decide for your self cuz no one chooses ur path only u do i chose mine and i love it so good like
I think the problem I have with the criticism of mixing religions is that we're talking about PERSONAL beliefs.. PERSONAL faith. Not what one person or this church or that coven says is right or wrong as a group..but what you FEEL and BELIEVE and HAVE FAITH in for YOU.
I understand the points that have been made, Billy and Felix both shed an interesting light on it. But consider this. I find one practice in any given faith acceptable, but another practice in the same faith unacceptable.. does that mean I have to discount the entire faith and find something else? I dont think so...
Wicca, and other Pagan religions and sporitual paths are ideas one chooses to follow. Being a vampire is a state of being--it's just what you are. It's just as easy to be a Wiccan vampire as it is to be Chinese, or Irish, or Italian and be Christian or Pagan....or a Scientologist for that matter. One is your racial heritage, the other is a chosen phylosophy.
That said, I don't know too many American neo-pagans who don't at least have some bit of Native American lore that they like to incorporate into their personal spirtuality. We use what speaks to us, and if that is what works for you then embrace it and live a more fulfilled life. Wicca tends to be based in European pantheons, but that does not exclude the validity of other phylosophies. Also, Native America beliefs are pagan (as in of the Earth and not Christian, Muslum, or Jewish) ways that until less than 200 years ago went basically uninterupted from their connection to the Earth. These are beliefs and practices that are still carried on without inturruption. Unlike Wicca which was "re"invented about 60 years ago.
There is no On True Way. Follow your heart.
I don't practice one thing. I take a little from this and a little from that until it feels right for me. Religion is a very personal thing and you shouldn't be a sheep. You do what feels right deep in your heart and what makes you happy. :)
p.s. Your heart is the only thing you should "follow". Don't be a sheep, don't think or do somethng just because it's part of the official doctirine or dogma of any one religion. Think for yourself.
I find that's why it's best not to try and 'name' your belief...keep in personal. It keeps you from stepping in dogma poo.
As they have said in the past, you must choose your own path and the path that you choose will be as natural as breathing. When you come across the path that is right for you, you will know with all of your heart and spirit. And keep in mind, those who are two-spirit's are honored and respected more than the chief and the priest's. Hope this helps you find your path. Carpe Noctem
do as u wish after all it is the freedome of choice however if the shoe dont fit well get rid of it.
Really you rreally dont choose what to follow, because it chooses you.....like healing stones..stones choose their owners....go with what your really feeling..what is right and you will know....
I think mainly you can chose whatever is comfortable for you. If you want to try all 3 lifestyles, go ahead!! But if you decide on one, two, or three, you gotta be dedicated. All I'm saying is don't delve into a lifestyle for "terds and giggles". Be serious about your decision.
As long as laws and ways of life don't interfere with the others, or contradict each other I don't see why you can't be a mixture of these things that truly make what you "are", completely you.
I agree...I think as long as it doesn't contradict eachother i see no reason why you can mix the religions/beliefs...hey u may end up making a new religion....
Personally I use natural magic and I practice satanism I dont know how to tell u to choose
I think your path does choose you...but i also think with careful study and faith you can walk whatever path you want.
I feel the same.your path chooses you. im am soth celt and am.indian. i feel my faith has come down though my blood. I've always know what i was and never let anyone else push what they think of fell on me. My father told me his path was not mine and that i must fallow my own path. to this day he fallows the path of his indian blood. the church puts the tag pagan on any faith thats is not main stream
I don't think it matters what our opinion is here. Your path is YOUR path, how you practice your worship and your beliefs is how you practice them. There is no true school of thought and I have always believed that one of the wonderful things about pagan belief systems is the freedom to do and choose how you see fit. So good luck with it :)
As my Native mother says,"as long as you don't practice the two ways at the same time during ritual then it is fine to walk both paths."
We all honor the same elements and ancestors.
you may actually create ur own path . by using a little of each releigion maybe whats right for you
I will say this. You can learn whatever path you want. But once you learn them. Don't mix and match faiths. For i.e. Don't be wiccan and then turn around and go to church on Sunday. Or be involved with the dark arts then kneel down and pray to Jesus. The only thing that spells is disaster. It's actually good to learn all faiths, that way when a question is posed to you from someone on the outside, you can answer it intelligently.
I made it my business to learn just about all of the faiths and studied there teachings. As well as their biblical scripts. I even mastered your Holy Bible! The Qu'ran, The Torah, The Jehova's Witness' bible. Just to see what else is out there. Then you can choose whats best for you. Hope this helps. Any more questions feel free to message me.
Good luck on your quest to reach the darkness!
deary i believe your path chooses u I believe that when u r ready to receive the answer to your question it will come and you will brought through great change.
Knowledge truly is power, my advice is learn all you can about every interest that hits you and learn it well. I only have one religion, however I practice different area of occult sciences or forms of magik, However I only adhere to one true belief, their are many paths and in one form or another the whiole multi-verse is linked together as one machine, so yes it is possible to dabble in some other areas as long as they cab coincide with one another. although it is a truth as stated in the first comment that your belief chooses you, however being equiped with knowledge and experience is a great benefit. Is it is possible to practice one religion and learn other sciences as long as it doesnt interfer with you beleifs.

I think your path chooses you. I think that when you are ready to truly go full speed into your path you will know what that is..... It is possible to study all sorts of things and not choose one particular path though...... that would be ... eclectic.
Im sorry i really dont know what else to tell you. I've known i was a witch since i could think for myself..My father never let anyone stop me from being who i am... not even my mother
We have start claiming our birthright. And that is to take our rightful place as Gods upon this Earth! Everything that we had was stripped from us! To erase the knowledge of the occult from mens minds for all time. We had 4 higher senses. That is currently locked into the 10% of our brain that we do not use! Now, sense some of us unlocking that part of our sub conscience. We have to deal with other establishments as well?
No, embrace your culture if you would. But leave all falsehood alone! Starting from Christianity all the way to Islam, to Catholicism. The dark arts is our way of life which will lead to what Xtians call Armageddon. The elite now holds all of the occult power, and that is the Vatican!
Each time we pray and conjure up their gods, we actually levitate the elite cabinet members of the Vatican off of the ground! They need your prayers! It is to much diversity in the world. Starting with Race and Religion. They have to divide and conquer us to keep us controlled and not knowing who we are. To keep us blinded to the real truth.
That the dark arts is only needed in time of revenge on ones enemies. It should be incorporated into our daily lives.
This should be the end of this thread. Please digest this information and use it wisely!
I think the path chooses you. Follow your heart and do whatever you feel comfortable with.Things will all fall into place.
When I discussed this, some people agreed that you can practice more than one path while others saw it as a contradiction.
I'd say do whatever you want, but if you choose more than one,at least be sure they don't contradict each other.
You just kind of know, dude. Being a vampire is not a religion like wicca is. You just are one or you are not. There are so many people who take bits of every religion, not just the ones from their heritage, that they put all together and make their own. I think that's very tolerant and openminded.
You just do what feels right and natural to you, and be hanged to what other people choose to label you as. Only you can truly know how and what you feel. If it feels right to you, it's not wrong.
I personally believe you can dabble in all- however, I would say that it would be a bit disrespectful if one were to want to label themselves a practitioner of any certain religion if they dabble in many. Other than that, I'd say there is nothing wrong.
well I believe you follow the path that best suits you and that it is personal soit does not matter what one you choose just as long as your true to yourself.
i think you path chooses you but if you think about it a little the indains though they did not call it that but really in a lot ways they had the same belive as wiccan and pagans does
I for one the path of paganism choose me in my adult life and it is very uplifting too.
I believe it is a matter of self-awareness and overall information that you have about each. Most of those aren't necessarily religions but more or less ways of life, so it is possible to incorporate all of them into your daily life.
There are many different beliefs. for some we are programmed unable to play any key role in what we do, or are destined to do, and to others, we have choices that when made in the end play a key role in the outcome.
I, have no religion for the time being, I am more of a lost soul, moving about learning what I can until a time that something may fit me, to draw me in. I still seek information on the topic. it is a good subject.
i personaly think you should read up on these religions and when you have leart all you can take what you like from them and leave what you dont like. thats what i find so great about wicca you can choose what shape you divine spirt takes and how you would like to worship it.
I'd imagine that you'd decide like you would with any other religious practice: by asking how the religion relates to you, and how you relate to the religion. Do you truly believe? Do you feel spiritually uplifted? Do you believe in the divinity of the god/gods that you praise? Also, you mention Native American faiths. Which tribes' beliefs are you following? These things will help.
I( beleive that destiny will find you but you should be knowledgeable. I also beleive that sometimes one path can contain more than one of these
Thank you everyone for your comments all apreciated. Thank you to those who messaged me direct and we have spoke since. This thread got me some new friends and info...Many Thanks...Blessed Be
Indeed there are many paths to enlightenment .
That said, some of us are wiccans. Worshippers of the Goddess, and adhere to an ancient nature worship of our ancestors.
I do not see much difference between the native Americans that were persecuted for their " strange" beliefs and practices
i also beleive that the path finds you. as for me, right now i havent found one that has chosen me yet but sure that it will come with time :)
i also agree that in your life sometimes you lose your way and then something happens and you have been chosen. I myself believe this was my chosen path and i also believe fate is not done with me yet. so yes you can have different choices whatever one you feel the strongest about that is the one you will chose.
free mind and free will. Take from all, learn what you can. Seek knowledge. Create your own path.
well, really if you want a religion than there's pretty much only one way to go..
of course, you can use the basic belief system as your religion.. and your own personal views also from other religions.
I can't really help you that much. Religion is a personal thing..
I am neither Wicca nor Pagan..I am Celtic. Which is semi like Pagan but not quite. Pagans believe in more magic but no as much as Wiccas. Celtic deal with the Druids mostly. It's also an Irish religion. I'm Irish of course. But Researching each religion helps with understanding.
The best, and only, advice I can give you is to follow your heart.
I believe you must follow your own path and not let anyone tell you different.
You know, I don't think that anybody actually has a set religion, that they believe everything about. Opinions usually differ, so there really isn't any religion, but rather a million different opinions and views.
i am not wiccan or any of that but my sister is she combines them
What is /has worked for me ....
The interestes I have help me to decide my path, And my path is an diverse path, I give it my path meaning from the different ideas, philosophies, traditions of life.
Basically you have a diverse interest enjoy your walk and study your different interests, Your path is in front of you, smell the roses on the way.....
my humble two cents.
Well Wicca and Paganism are rather similar but do have their definate differences. I say you should be open and get as involved as you can in as many things that you are interested in. The Supernatural holds a myriad of arcane knowledge, so I think that one needn't choose any particular path, but be involved in as much as you can.
I Think Its All In What Your Family History or Background Is or Where Your Family Is From , How Your Raised Does That Sound Right?
Personally I also think that your path chooses you. It’s what you have come to believe in and what your opinion is on it. Its how you feel about it and whats right for you. It will hit you eventually when the time is right or when you are ready. In time you questions will be answered and you will feel content and right. Also I think that learning or just gaining knowledge about other religion can also be a good benefit. Good LUCK:P
you are free to choose any religion or all, or any bits and pieces of different ones, if you choose.n The path you choose is yours, it is a deeply personal journey and only you can decide.
I've always thought it was a good idea to know about many different things....
i use natura magic and dont follow by the books or use tools, I am nither pegan or wicca
i've been watching my mother for the past few months now ....here and there, she would mention something about paganism that would catch my attention...the last thing she said about paganism is that, your already chosen to be who u are destined to be, and you can't fight or resisit that, just embrace it, and follow through.
then she goes and starts explainin a certain spell that was once told to me by my guides.
so im starting to wonder if paganism is inheritaded?
im starting to think she's a pagan, which would be coo since i know i am...
Knowledge and study are the key. There is something to be found in many paths, there is nothing wrong with borrowing the best of each and finding your own way.
I say look up each that you are interested in and then decide from there
personal i think it all is up to what you believe, not a chose.
but if you believe some of all then that is the way for you
I think you can do as you wish. Make it your own personal belief system. One that suits you, and what feels right to you. Mold it to fit what you think is right. People have been doing that to religions for ages anyway, it won't hurt if you fiddle with it a bit too.
I describe myself as a christian, but have pagan and wiccan friends who describe me as pagan because of alternative beliefs I've described to them. I've read you can't be both, yet here I am. A paganistic Christian.
I don't see why you can't take threads of different religions and create your own tapestry. As long as you feel secure in it.
i dont think its bad to practice in all types of religion i feel its a good way to choose what u really want once u find it it will surely notice you and vice versa as i am as well tring to find my path
I think and belive every human come to a crossroad in his / hers life where things like that can choose the path for him. I dont think a human can simply decide just for the sake he or she shall belive in a sertain path
I believe you need to study all forms of religion in order to decide which one fits you best the more you know , the more likely you will be able to make an imform choise when the right times comes for that that is. It doesnt choise you it is you that make the choise of which ever path u wish to go doen.
I was raised a devout Catholic, but I turned out to be Pagan. Which is considered to be a hethen religion to Catholocists. And I think it's the religion that seams to be right with the way you live, the way you view things, that seems right with the way you walk the path of life; that is the religion that should be your own.
I think the main thing is keeping an open mind. Don't close your mind to any ideas. Then education is important. Learn all you can about everything. Something will stick. It will.
Learning is a good thing, so learn everything you can and then maybe this will help you on which one you want to do, though i don't see why you can't do more than one.
hmmm i go with let destany choose for you and not choose your own destany
I agree with mistress on this. It is your own personal beliefs that matter. You get to chose. Do some research and chose what feels right for you. You'll know when you find it.
im studying all religins and seeing which one feeds me..
I believe we ultimately are led to the path that was meant for us
I believe that you are able to practise both religions, i mean their are a lot of people out their that takes from different religions to make them feel comfotable, so try them both and sooner or later you will find what is right for you...
