I do believe this fits in this section considering the paranormal nature of this.
Read the artical here.
Basically the man abducted his wife, killed her, and then cooked parts of her body. There's more to it then that in the article.
My question to you guys is when was the last act of cannibalism that you've hear of? I read a few articles after this one and couldn't find anything reasent.
This is kind of morbid and I will understand if it gets moved or erased. I just wanted to see others opinions on cannibalism, especially in the US.
-Found this off of CNN.com
the last case that i heard of was jeffrey dahmer. of course, i don't bother keeping up with the news much so i've probably missed out on a case o two. as for as my feelings on cannibalism, i could never bring myself to do it, not even in a case of survival. as for as those who do it for the sheer enjoyment of it, i say off with their heads!
Well, I'd imagine it doesn't publicly happen much, since something like that would likely make the news more often than not. The last episode of cannibalism I heard about was Jeffrey(sp?) Dahmer.
i would have to agree with the other two, he was the last that i have heard about. nasty is what that is.
That was the last case I found as well. I don't try to keep up with these things but when it comes down to it, I just came across it. I wouldn't eat anyone if it came down to survival as well, it just really creeps me out.
The last newsworthy cannibal I remember was a man who had a voluntary 'victim'. He met the guy online and the person agreed to being killed and eaten.
MSNBC has an article on his sentencing in 2006 here
The question comes back to whether or not these people feel they're getting something supernatural from their dinner. The idea of eating the body parts to eat the soul or to gain the victims power, etc.
Thank you FelixFelix, that was a very weird one indeed. I can't believe he only received 8 years. I don't think the original article was a power trip other then him killing her, she had already been dead 1-2 days before he started cooking her.
That second article really makes you wonder who you're meeting online, eh?
i dont know that it has anything to do with anything supernatural, i think its just a sickness that people have. some people anyway.
Mental illness comes in a lot of forms. Certain indigenous tribes believe that consuming your enemy (aka eating him) is the only way to wholly eliminate him as a threat, but these beliefs don't apply in a society where cannibalism is frowned upon. There are some sick people out there.
I really don't see what this has to do with the paranormal . I can say tht it is really nasty and that dahmer is that last well known one . Though I am willing to bet t happens more than we know
Well again the paranormal aspect is the belief that eating the brain will make you smart or eating the heart will make you strong or eating the ... to gain verility.
but again how is that paranormal? its a strange belief yes, but i dont know that i would personally call it paranormal. but thats my opinion. not putting you down or anything
Well Darkfairie what would be your definition of paranormal, and what would make this considered paranormal?
This is very strange and morbid indeed. Our mind works in many ways and a lot of ways lead to doing illegal things. I think we all believe someone to belong to only us and we will have them no matter what
well i guess my idea of paranormal would be anything ghost wise or strange happening that have no explanation or cant be seen, or felt, things like that. sounds that you hear when there is nothing around to make a sound like that. maybe im just weird. lol im not trying to put anyone down or downgrade their opinions or thoughts on anything. just putting in my opinion is all. i did not mean to offend anyone if i did.
It's not paranormal - if you don't believe it...but the idea of getting energy from blood isn't paranormal if you don't believe in it.
In my mind that would be more like supernatural. So it is just a matter of opinion :)
that is very true as well felix. i hope i did not offend you with my post, it was not my intention. if i did, i apologize
No offense taken.
I think there's a primal memory or instinct that often leads people to believe that power can be retained in the very organs or body of those who die. It's the reasoning behind the use of body parts in certain rituals or spells as well.
well thats a good point, although i personally have never come across a spell that called for body parts or anything, but i am sure they are out there. i have come across ones that call for blood. and those i stay away from. so yes it does make you wonder if it is an instinct or just a mis fire in the brain that makes people feel they have to do that.
Well some people might see the energy and life giving properties in blood drinking and want to capitalize on that and eat the whole body.
I'm unsure how much weight is put in spells that call for body parts but there have long been myths of things like the 'hand of glory' which is a severed hand or the use of hair in voodoo.
the last i heard happened years ago in Los Andes Mountainrange, when a plane fell down with some sport guys, who were lost for some months there and since some of them died, there was one of them who was a doctor and started getting some parts of the dead´s flesh and he prepared it for the rest who was alive could survive... it was very famous and there was even a movie about it...
I see now where the paranormal part comes from . Thanks for the explaination . I had forgotten that the native americans did the same thing with baffalo hearts
this is very morbid and I feel anyone who does this has to be sick .. not anything else, I mean to think or believe that by eating a person it gives you something "special" from doing so .. yuck... just my opinion is all
Ugh! I just finished reading the article. It sure is creepy. I am in agreement with the rest on this one. Jeffery Dahmer.
well in Europe the most recent was in 2000 in Germany...
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/2569095.stm
That article is about the same person as the one that FelixFelix posted, except it didn't say that the man sold all of his possessions.
Who would want to be eaten? Esssshhh.
Hmm, I don't really keep up with current events but it doesn't seem like too long ago. Last thing I heard that I actually remember like this is that a woman tied up her boyfriend, stabbed him, and drank his blood.
I doubt he actually ate the flesh. I bet that was just there for show.
There was just a man caught here in California that had parts of his wife cut up and in the refrigerator and in kitchen.
Gross I havent heard anything since jeffery dohmer, ick
That IS creepy..wow. I haven't read anything like this..nor do I want to lol. Some people are so...mental.
The German Guy was the last I read about the one who wrote a letter to detectives with all the info how he was turned on to flesh and all the details of eating his nieces best parts even saying she died a virgin...there is perhaps a mental ploy in his actions could be going for the insanity wrap the guy in the story...if he had sought help before I would give him the crazy pass and let him rot in an asylum...but if he had not then no good go to jail.
but jeffery daumer was a serial killer there is a big difference from eating a person once
So in response to masterofmidnight...
Cannibalism- Dont knock it till you try it
In in my country, the last known/reported act of cannibalism was sometime around the 1920-30's.
A Tohunga (Maori Witch Doctor), stole and ate a baby.
As respected as those men were and still are with my people, I find that to be sick and wrong.
I heard from a friend of a guy down in mexico that killed his girlfriend and was making enchiladas or something out of the meat, eating some and selling others. Poor unsuspecting people who bought them...Kinda gross if you ask me...>.>
a german placing a classifieds ad saying he wants to have a man come over and cook his nuts on a wok and share them for dinner.
a man volunteered, signed consent, and died of injuries. he wasn't charged.
last id heard of was Dahmer and it was tonight .. on a friends pro...
In a myth I heard, If you eat the flesh or drink the blood of another of your species, you gain their powers and other abilities such as strength and speed.
That's horrid, I can't wrap my mind around the whole eating another person thing. But a lot of my otherkin friends say we are nothing but a bunch of meat bags anyways.
jeffery dohmer was the last I'd heard of. But then I dont keep up that much on cannibles. Really sick articles!! Uber ewww!
There seems to be a couple of strains of thought here.
You have some people who are cannibals because of mental problems, and there are those who really believe their acts will give them power -- or is that the same thing...LOL
oh and then there are those who would do it for survival -- like in that film/movie 'Alive'
TwistedLips - In the old days, when my people were still a fierce warrior race, the Chief and high ranking people of each tribe would consume the heads warroirs from enemy tribes who they had killed. They believed that by doing this, the dead warriors Mana (strength/honour and so on) would go into them
xMitsix~
not only would they gain their enemies strength etc, but it's also a great muti-vitamin diet. lol
I remember this article. This guy is fookin' crazy. He checked out mentally at some point.
Supernatural powers? No more than eating a beef steak or chicken breast.
The thing that fascinates me it what drives these people to that point where they act on these "things" in their heads. I also wonder if they even have thoughts like that or if it is a spontaneous psychotic episode. Ofcourse, I could be entirely wrong. Maybe these cannibals are perfectly sane and know something we don't. Hmmm.
yeah not paranormal or supper Natural just the horror of how graphic and gruesome humans can be to each other.... I am not really sure why you want to talk about murderers here but its your thread ..
The most recent thing that i found was this article :
In 2004, the band Hell On Earth decided to offer consensual cannibalism as part of their March 6 performance in Florida. Wanting to let the audience participate in the event, they held an online contest to let one of their fans play "'food critic for a day' by tasting the human meat during [their] show followed by his or her commentary to the audience regarding how it tastes." While their Web site at first seems like a joke, the cannibalistic video clips it offers are real enough. The band did not suffer any consequences for its cannibalism, and the United States, much like Britain, did not seem to think the event worthy enough to merit changing the law.

I haven't heard of any canabalism lately, except in movies. Hannibal lector is scary man!
Funny you bring up Hell on Earth. Billy , the lead singer worked for me years ago.
I cant say that I will ever get with in 100 yards of any of their shows ever again as it just creeps me out but thats what they are going for is the sick and grotesques...
Billy, the lead singer use to at one time I dont know if he still does or not.. Put in a butterfly in his vain and open it up during the show and spray the band and the crowd with his own blood.. it was all over the news here for a long time.. And YES it was really his blood.
That artile was truely disturbing and it is amazing the acts of brutality and just plain freakishness that happen in these times. Jeffrey Dahmer was the last one I had heard about.
Yes but for the most part all of the pre mentioned people have on more than one occasion said they just wanted to be closer to there victims and did not want to lose there connection to them
I have watched way to much discovery channel. But there are tribes in africa that believe that the eating of the flesh of their enemies will give them there enemies strength and power, were other tribes believe that if they eat the flesh of dead loved ones they will be keeping the soul alive and be able to carry on the knowledge of the ones that came before them.
Yes I think the one thing everyone can agree on is that there are a lot of beliefs on this and 99.99999999999% of the are messed up and crazy to most people and sick I must mention this is some sick S*IT
This dude was seriously psycho..i remember watching it on the news and looking at my mother and saying wtf???
VampireGods1 - I'll admit that there seems to be little to support the idea that something is in fact gained from eating your enemies or loved ones...but how crazy is it?
It seems to me that it's a similar step in logic as someone who feels that drinking blood gives them energy or psychic insight into someone else. Granted it's far more extreme socially because it has to involve dead people as the food but we're still basically in the same ground. It's a belief about being able to drink or eat energy and power...the main difference is that the cannibal is usually killing someone.
Reminds me of the movie "Fried Green Tomatos" Sliced him up &fed him to others to conceal the body. Gross
Not sure but I think cannabolism still goes on in some countrys..i wouldn't want to be around it.....
heres something to think about. Do you think humans since the beginning of time had respect for life? Or was this respect gradually acquired over the thousands of years? If so, is it possible that some people are just born without this acquired respect for human life? If so, could explain cannabalism a little bit more
FelixFelix makes a connection between ancient beliefs (and some current beliefs of primitive tribes) in the ability to acquire "powers" through the consumption of flesh, and modern day blood drinking to get energy, or psychic insight, or spiritual regeneration.
It's a continuum in my view, and it's not clear to me how one can abhor one and not the other.
Just the thought of it creeps me out..I hadn't heard of any Canabulism sine Jeffery Daumer and before that the Donna party in Sutter's Pass. How ever the Donna Party was face with a choice of canabulism or death.
The last case of cannibalism that I heard of before this thread was with Jeffery Dahmer.
I don't agree with it, I find it repulsive, but throught history many cultures believed that consuming someone's body meant they were also absorbing their soul. Others felt that in eating someone after their death, you were also gaining their strengths, their intelligence and their abilities. They felt it was one of the most repectful ways to treat a human body. There were rituals performed and the whole tribe would consume the deceased.
The Aztecs believed that sacrificing and cannibalizing humans would appease their Gods, and if they didn't do it, it would mean an end to all of humanity.
There is an intersting article on the historical perspective of cannibalism here.
I read up on cannibalism after reading this thread yesterday on cannibalsanonymous.com. It offered accounts of many cannibals recorded throughout history and their stories. One of the most repulsive stories I read told of a gang of four men who would rape women, slice off one of their breasts, take turns having sex with the open wound, and then kill her. After that, they would take the breast home, take turns masturbating with it, and then chop it up to make soup (or something to that effect).
Now, I am not certain on how true this may be, but from more research on cases of cannibalism, the criminal usually commits his first murder by instinct, and also as an instinct feeds on the remains of his victim.
He is usually a male, and more often than not, a necrophiliac, showing sadistic AND masochistic traits.
Doesn't sound paranormal to me, sounds like simple cannabalism. He killed her and then ate her. The only thing paranormal would be if she came back as a ghost and haunted him
***********************
Two cannibles are sitting around a campfire stirring a pot of soup.
The first one says 'Man, I really hate my mother-in-law'.
The second one replies 'Then just eat the noodles'
i would have to agree with the majority and say th last one i heard about was dahmer but could i ever do that depends on the situation and the need to live i would be the one in that type of situation that would offer one's self to save others
This article only proclaims that our minds and hearts view what it will at any given time or reason .It is only what the person believed they wanted to do at that moment
It seems that there are some who would justify the act of cannibalism as spiritual and therefore it becomes acceptable.....
But just how far would any of you go if it was about survival?!!
i would have to agree this article really is rather disturbing, in the retrospect that some of the things i have read in this are worse then i have seen on tv
To answer your question BLOODLIFE, I couldn't eat another human even if it was my only means of survival. I would starve to death.
Daedal~
I know how you feel as I feel the same ...
as it's all hypothetical would those here eat say 'horse' or dog thou .....
it seems it's a moral dilemma too!!
I have to say the most recent case in the US is Jeffrey Dahmer. There have also been reports of people in plane crashes in remote areas that have eaten the dead to survive till they were rescued

Everyone has a bit of a cannibal in them. You put 2 people in the middle of nowhere with one of them about to die and tell me that the other won't eat him just to stay alive. I believe that under those circumstances, it's definetely okay. Survival is survival and food is food. But killing and eating another of your own species just to do it... that's just sick.
It also depends on whether they're cooked and how well the chef knows proper preparation of human. Do you grill? Fry? What kind of marinade do you use? Spices or do you let the natural flavors come forward? Maybe a demi / brandy reduction sauce with some oyster mushrooms. I'm sure the positives and negatives depend a lot on preparation right?
Incidently...The Cook, The Wife, The Thief and Her Lover is a brilliant movie that ends in near cannibalism.
Felix, I thought we were talking about eaten them alive, surely to marinate you would need to dice and splice first
i have to say it was Jeffery Dahmer the last time i heard or read about anything like that
The last I can remember is a bit of what Edmund Kemper did.
But apparently he did so as a means of possessing his prey.
Same as drak47. The last of it I heard was of Jeffrey Dahmer.
The last time I heard of something like this was a several months back. A man from Mexico killed his gf and ate parts of her body. It is thought that he was linked to another death in Mexico city. He was dating the girl from Mexico city and then one day her body was found cut up in a box.
Texas woman killed, mutilated by boyfriend in possible cannibalism case
(World News) Friday, 11 January 2008, 20:07 PST
Paul J. Weber, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
TYLER, Texas - A 21-year-old Texas woman was killed and mutilated by her boyfriend in a bizarre case on the weekend that police say may have involved cannibalism.
"You can't sleep. You can't think straight anymore," said Amy Gage, a friend and neighbour of the victim, Jana Shearer.
"Then you just keep finding out more and more. It's the most difficult thing anyone can go through."
Shearer's boyfriend, Christopher Lee McCuin, 25, was charged with capital murder after police said they found her body, an ear boiling in a pot on a stovetop, and a hunk of flesh with a fork in it on a plate at the crime scene.

And here is a response to the above post of mine from PETA
PETA Requests Vegetarian Diet in Jail for Cannibalism Suspect
Sheriff's officials were astounded Thursday by a letter requesting the man accused of murdering his girlfriend and possibly participating in cannibalism be placed on a vegetarian diet to keep him from being "involved in any senseless killing" while incarcerated.
Article
Wow that is really interesting. I have heard a about a guy who killed a girl and froze parts of her body and ate them later. But I find all that cannibalism very interesting.
I am not sure this is the way tool1991 wanted her post to go but i agree i probley would eat some on to stay alive like those people in that plane crash so many years ago
LOL
i believe if a person can do this why cant they be cooked alive or just let a hungry pack of wolfs eat him alive
but seince dahmer there have been over 100 reported cases of cannibalism in the usa just most of them you do not hear about in the large scale like there was with dahmer
So wrap your minds around this over 30% of the usa poplation has had thoughts of cannibalism.
and over 90% of the usa poplation has had thoughts of killing someone
just a little fun fact that means that one out of every 4 people you meet will think about killing someone
and one out of every 22 people you meet will think about killing you
Jeffrey Dahmer is the last person I can think of right now to do the cannibalism thing...personally, I couldn't make myself think about that cuz people can be damn nasty! LOL! Bleccch. :P
and I have no comment on the 1 out of 22 people think about killing you statement....although, I believe it.
I wonder what the statistic is on that one person wanting to kill everyone? LOL!!
lol idk but 1 out of every 50 people that think about killingg someone acts on those thought
LOL
yes i am a bit morbid but i find this very intresting cause i never would have thought about that lol
wich means that over 9 10ths of the members of this site have thought abut killing 1/2 the members of this site LOL
Think about that
LOL
wich means i have been killed a bunch of times in the minds of a bunch of deffrient vampire rave members LOL
uh oh, peta forcing a cannibal to eat vegetarian while in jail may not be wise. showing him how good chicken and beef can taste. besides he is going to be wanting flesh when he gets out, in fact he might be ravenous for it.
I would say the last cannibal is Jeffery Dahmer. There may be others that we just have not heard about
