Since it has been well over 2yrs since I last posted a thread I figured this would be an appropriate thread
I want to hear some of your views on what happens after either a mortal or an immortal finishes out their life span on this physical plane
keep it friendly... don't need more grief than it's worth
i arent sure of this
but no one seems to call back to tell us how great it is being"dead"
i am not being obnoxious ....
Let's revisit this is a couple thousand years. I'm sure by then we'll all have quite a bit more to contribute. ;)
I don't think you are being obnoxious but rather heavily sarcastic, and that is uncalled for in intelligent debate.
One sure thing about life is that we all die, and it has been the debate of scholars for centuries as to what happens after death here on this planet.
well you never know but i would like to find out it would be intresting
well that is my personal view
i dont expect every one to have the same
thats why we are all individuals
i'm not sure...i was raised to believe in a heaven, per se, but now i'm just not that sure.
Peoples beliefs are going to vary greatly. There's so many things that influence our beliefs and nothing to show what is true and false.
There's only a few possible answers to this:
a- You just die, there is nothing after death.
b- You go to heaven/hell.
c- You stick around as a ghost, poltergeist, spirit, etc.
d- You get reincarnated into something/someone else.
e- A mixture of the above. Example is, you're a ghost in order to accomplish something and then go to heaven once you've done it or any other number of things.
i'm not quite sure, but i feel that we are made of energy and energy doesn't die, it keeps going so...
As far as the afterlife goes... I feel that whatever you believe will happen to you will happen.
If you believe in heaven... you'll get there. If you believe in reincarnatin, you will be reincarnated.... Etc...
In the same token... It does make us wonder. What if there is something more to death that we aren't meant to know UNTIL we are dead?
For me, the biggest lesson in learning of the afterlife is ... LIVING. Don't focus on death, or what happens when you die. Focus on your life as it is now. Do wonder, it's natural for us to ponder those things bigger than ourselves. But focus on Life, because that is all we have right now. :)
Even then... stepping outside the philosophy for a second... We really won'd know until it's our time. ;)
I have to agree, we can only speculate
Believe what we want to believe.
There are books that state people have died and were brought back to life. What they seen while the living was trying to revive them.
There are books on recarnation, people who have remembered their past lives.
These are books, I have no answers.
I think death hits us when someone close dies. Then we begin to wonder about death.
Live your life....for death will come soon enough...then each of us will know the answer.
Hopefully the pain and the agony of suffering stops there after.
Well it's obvious we can only speculate, none of us are dead ;P
I would personally like to think that there is something after death, and I don't think it's impossible considering all the incredible and crazy stuff that happens while we're alive.
I think that once the mortal body dies, the soul lives on either to be reincarntaed or go to the afterlife, be it heaven, or hell.
An immortal...
Well I believe that if there is an immortal out there, that they'll actually be immortal. and never die.
My belief as shown in my profile is we live, we die, our eternal psychic soul is reincarnated until we learn enough to join the Universal Source for eternity as a being of pure psychic energy.
boneyardvixen beat me to it...
You die, you cease to exist as you have been on this earth/plane of existence. What happens afterwards is just conjecture. Once you die, you'll be the first to find out what's next and can go, hey I was right or... oh crap!
If you're mortal, you die and that's the end of you. So live it up while you can, try to find joy in all that you do, and feed your mind and heart every chance you get.
If you're immortal and have come to your end, you don't need our input.
some fairly good points I see, please feel free to keep posting, as for me?
I am quite certain that yes we are comprised of energy, yes when you die your soul/essence/energy is rebound to a corporeal entity (human or not being the case for mortals) and that you may have the ability to retain some memories from a past life... being yours or someone elses
as for a mortal you decide wether or not you come back or go to eternity to sleep to your content from your long life span...
that's just a quick summary on my part... feel free to comment
I believe in reincarnation... so for a mortal to pass on I believe they would continue the cycle and be reborn to another body...
Being a Spiritualist I guess I'd be in big trouble if I did'nt believe in life after death lol
hard to see if there is life after deatj and what may be the truth to someone may be fiction to someone else. You will just never know and perhaps this is the one mystery of life and our purpose that will never have a directi answer
I would say they go to heaven. The only way to know the answer to that question is when we die and see who is in heaven
well if you are immortal you never die so you do not have to worry about what happens but as for mortals i am still sticking to my belief they we relive the same life over
Everyone owes a death at one point... as for what to expect when we get there... well, I think that we should ask for information from one who actually got back from there...
For those that believe in reincarnation, when does it end? Do we keep playing musical bodies until what, an end of existance, the end of the world, an end to something?
boneyardvixen....musical bodies, what a wonerful phrase lol
Well I think that by the time we have learnt all we can from being human, then we move ' further up and further in ' as CS lewis would say.
I think this thread has kind of gotten a little off track.. we're talking about souls and the intended topic is eternity. I guess the two are intertwined in a way though.
But once you've learned all you can, what happens? Where do you go for eternity?
I honestly believe mortal or immortal once you die... that the energy force or what ever you call it gos on to what ever paradise there may be
I don't think anyone knows for sure what happens to your soul/spirit after death. Personally, I believe in reincarnation.
Where do we go after eternity? But eternity means ongoing, never ending - how can we go on after something that will always be?
All we can do is speculate until we find ourselves in the actual situation to know.
hmm...I am not sure. Many believe there are certain places immortals go differently than mortals. But its all depending on peoples personal beliefs. Risky topic. But, I believe we are either reincarnated (immortals and mortals alike) or there is a special place similar to heaven for people to go to.
Lumina, you made me smile with your post. As we know eternity lays at the end of infinity :)
that's the word escaping me earlier - infinity.. guess I needed more coffee to kick start my brain.l
Infinity - eternity.... there ya go.
In the words of Peter Pan,
"To die would be an awfully great adventure."
So until one of us dies and "sees" the other side, I doubt we will really know what is "over there".
Peter Pan is so right!
I believe in Summerland and in being reborn if one wishes. However, I also believe there is a special place for the really nasty people.
I also believe in making the most out of your life right now, while living it and not denying yourself trinkits or pleasures in hopes of attaining special privledges in the afterlife.
Please do not confuse that statement. I do not mean what we do here doesn't matter - only that one should not be as strict as some religions try to make you.
when i get there, i'll take a look 'round and try to report, if the Rave is still in existence...but i expect that not to happen for oh, some 60 more years' time...
^^
They say only the good die young and we all know how BAD you are Kontradiction. LMAO
I am not sure, i think it may all depend on what religious belief people may have...........as for myself i have different theorys.....one is that i will go to summerland and await to be reincarnated.
Yes, there are faiths that believe that the Soul only gets to Eternity once it has reached a state of perfection.
very nicely done,
as for me I see the humans soul as an object to study and then reuse to gather more research then once they are stretched thin they are sent to eternity to sleep.
So true, MaraJade, and others state a person will keep coming back until achieves that state or a wrong righted or fixed what should have been fixed - then they are free from coming back and can rise up to the next level.
I believe that the next level may be us in our perfected spiritual state...teaching others what they may need to know like as in a guardian angel or some form like that.
I personally believe that we'll either end up in heaven or in hell.
I cannot even presume to have the correct answer to what happens beyond our lifetime. Some religions believe in a physical after life, while others see a spiritual paradise or hell. Some people might claim to have an inside track to what comes next, but really all we have is guessing. Believe what you will about the next stage in a souls life (assuming you believe in a soul). If the grand scheme of things is larger than us, perhaps we are not meant to fully understand eternity so as to make the few years on this Earth we have count.
I guess the decased mortal goes under the same cicle of death and rebirth, until somehow the soul learns how to get out of the process completly, thanks to numerous repetitions of the death and rebirth process.
Well I believe in reincarnation. So I believe they are reincarnated once they are done with this life. As for immortals well they are immortal unless they die somehow. Then I believe they are reincarnated as well.
There are so many options on what to believe happens after death. Ive decided I will just wait until I die to decide what happens after death. Afterall, I could believe in something and then it not be what happens.
No one truly knows what happens when one dies, and likely never will. Personally, I do not think there is anything to it... once you have died, that's it. You're nothing. The very concept of an afterlife, of any sort, simply seems absurd to me. Then again, it's very possible that I could be wrong.
We are born to die.
It is this thought of death which inspires most to live as best they can.
If you know your not going to die for a period of time, then your instinct to restrain your actions to ensure that things go in proper accord gets ignored, and a bestial instinct to do what you will revives itself within yourself.
how much of an extent this becomes is determined on the part of the individual. Alot can be gained in a lifetime, even more in an eternity. However much is lost in a life time, and thusly there is equal loss in eternity.
I really have no idea what happens after we die but know that there are spirits out there so I am guessing that we just lose the outer shell and move on to a different plane of existance
Belief is a wonderful thing.. because you do not need to know for sure to believe in something.. I have not come across any absolute proof of what happens to our soul or identity after death. However, belief does give many people comfort.....
i think that when you die . you join the greater gods and go to which ever plane your life brings you to .
That is a great belief... I believe that we go on to another plane or life, ...
I believe that we are Reincarnated. Because it's hard for me to believe that once we die thats it. There has to be more.
Well an immortal is just that they don't really have a life span they don't die...
A mortal though..being I'm catholic I believe that they go to heaven or hell and that depends on their sins and whether or not they repented.
There is much pleasures in the flesh but to be immortal would be a result
This is just my theory on the subject. But when a "vessel" or "body" dies, the soul is carried onto the astral planes. Either that or the whole coming back later in another body thing.
Not really sure here. I was raised in a deep christian rooted household so I was taught to believe in one system but as I grew and developed my own understanding of life......Its hard to say. I'd like to think that those Ive lost left the pain and suffering that plagues us all behind.
Interesting topic... Persnally I believe that our spirits move onto another realm.. whether you call it heaven or hell...its a plane of our own making, someting that manifest from our own personal subconcious and beliefs
I believe that the energy that makes us who we are will continue to endure ... energy will forever exist ... when we die, our energy will be dispersed - redistributed to create new living things ...
