Is there such a thing as a soul that's not meant to be on this planet, or perhaps the soul is in the wrong body by chance?

The existence of a "soul" is a debatable topic.
Perhaps defining exactly what a soul is to you would be a good start?
Personally, I believe in soles... I have them on my feet. They belong there and everyone who has feet... well, their soles are meant to be. But I don't believe in souls – at least not in the “live forever/religious” sense of the word.
If you have a belief in Souls....then it follows you also have a belief in God.....God does not do mistakes....so I would say no would be the answer to your question.
Actually, I have had that feeling many times myself Gregory. Then eventually I realized there are no accidents in the universe, everything happens for a reason. ( Of course thats just my feelings on the subject.) And I eventually learned I'm right where I'm supposed to be.
i believe that every soul is meant to be.....possibly could be in the wrong body tho
You do encounter people who seem to live out their lives being out of round or troubled at all times. A problem soul? Perhaps just a disassociated life to begin with
If you are a true believer of the concept of a "soul" then I think every soul would be meant to be.
However, if you are like me (and birra as he seems to agree) the concept of a soul living forever in the religious sense would not really exist. So if it doesn't exist, then the question would be a non-issue.
I agree, everything has a reason. A soul that's not meant to be on this planet can also have a reason, can't it? A mistake, a problem. We have a lot of those in everyday life, does that mean that those are not really mistakes or problems? No, they are all indeed mistakes and problems, and they all indeed have a reason, but they are mistakes and problems nonetheless.
To answer birra's question, I do believe in souls. What do I think a soul is? I think a soul is a reason for being. It's your core. It's what seperates you from objects. Without an existance of a soul, people would just be born randomly for no reason. I personally don't think that people are born randomly for no reason, that is actually a rather scary thought for me. So yes, I believe in souls, whether they belong on earth or not.
Have read that when newborns or infants die, that they were not meant to be at that particular time. Wish I knew where I read that, but have come across that more than once.
Not agreeing nor disagreeing with it, just stating.
I don't believe that they could get trapped in the wrong body by accident.
Wrong body maybe . . . But ALWAYS meant to be.
Everyone has a purpose for being here - you just have to find yours.
Never really thought about it before. I know sometimes I think that certain people, maybe it was a mistake for them to ever being born in the first place because they're so miserable existing. I don't know if thats what you meant.
Perhaps wrong body, wrong time, so it's ended early to start again... Once again, disclaimer that I do not agree nor disagree on this.
What soul would not meant to be?

Well, then you've answered your own question.
You BELIEVE in souls.
You have no proof a soul exists, it is faith based.
If you believe they exist, then you can believe some aren't meant to be.
You can also believe some are made of coffee cake and taste good with green tea for what it matters....
It really all depends on your beliefs and what they mean to you.
If the soul is in the wrong body then who put it there? naughty naughty!
thank you, someone had to say it birra and none could have put it as eloquently as thus.
The say in Ireland, that the Soul of a person is the good or the bad in a person. All, faiths that I am aware of believe in the Soul. Personally, I too, like to believe in this theory as it suits my preferred faith and me.
oh boy, this would mean that i'd first have to believe that there is a soul necessarily, and that placement of the soul has order and purpose and that it is predetermined. that would be very hard for me to do, so i honestly have no correct answer for this one.
I believe that every soul is meant to be also.. I don't thimk they are in the wrong bodies..I think they have brought some of their past life with them.
Don't know about them being in the wrong bodies.
However, sould that are trapped are definately in the wrong place.
Never heard of the phrase: "There are no mistakes." No means just that - No. People love to live in their own heads. I have a soul and its mine or its about me. Therefore, when a baby dies, it must be about the baby's Soul, etc. Never realizing that it was to teach you about lost, it had very little to do with the baby. Soul or otherwise. As for the feeling of being not ready or that life was a mistake, the Soul does have a tendency to be too big for it own feet. Pun intended. This does not mean a mistake was made. It means to slow the fuck down and enjoy the experience of Life. There are no mistakes - from G_d or you.
I would have to say no.. It would be equivalent to saying you were born with the wrong legs or hands.. Your born with what you have.
I don't think that way. Souls are about the owner and I don't think they can be "misplaced". You create that soul.
I believe that all souls are meant to be here, and they are not put in the wrong body. Its the body that makes the soul evil
Don't believe in an eternal soul given me by some almighty being just because I was born.
I do believe in a moral and ethical identity, parts of which come from environment (family, society, religion), but most of which should come from each individual's active (cognizant), personal involvement and choice.
I think I believe in souls, or at least I want to, but I don't believe that there are souls that "don't belong on this planet"
Universe is too vast and distant for souls to "get lost" in my opinion.
All souls have been created and are thus meant to exist, yet throughout time God has sent Angel's down to Earth to kill his mistakes. Genesis 6:7 "And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of air; for it repenteth me that I have made them."
I believe I heard this term to be an "anti" once. As in the exact opposite of everything in this world, yet in another dimension I guess would describe it. An anti would be the equivelent to a souless child. A human shell with the core of an anti, who's very presence makes any human feel strange. In terms of souls not meant to be... they may fall in the wrong time, but in the scope of life and existence, every "soul" has a purpose... even if by accident.
I believe its a possiblity. Kind of reminds me about possessions.
I think all souls are meant to be here, but it is possible for them to be in the wrong body.
I personally believe that everything on earth is here for a reason.
I suppose if a soul is a form of energy that can move and exist in different locations over time than there should be the possibility that it could be in the wrong place. But then you are implying that there is some master plan as to where souls should be or that they have their own will and drive. All separate discussion topics.
AD.... so true so true. That opens up a completely new discussion.
everybody has a purpose in life.
every soul has a reason to be.
it may be possible although, for a soul to be in the wrong body.
I have pondered upon this question once before also.
i think souls are mixed that, we potentially carry essences from multiple souls in one body, that not all souls can completely maintain their entire entity.
i eat sole's with a dsh of lemon ...
as for the belife a soul enters a body, opens a can of worms as there was no proof of a soul in the first place... like what will a dragon do to your house ??? only prob ... you have no dragon to go on ... so i guess the answer is based on how you see life and so forth
I think it is possible for people to not feel that they are in the right skin or not meant to be here in my culture we believe that some people are living with a foot in this world and one in the spirit world and that will give you the feeling of not belonging
I personally believe souls are meant to be where they are, with whomever they belong...
No, I think that there are no accidents in this world, everything happens for a reason, Regardless of what is going on or how you feel, it was meant to happen...
oh most likely the whole otherkin community is all about that
I believe that a soul could go to a worng body but I do not believe that it is an accident or a mistake.
bloodraven6978
If as you believe as soul can go into the wrong body......what would you call it if not a mistake ?
soul in a wrong body yes it happens alot thats why there are postopp transexules
as for souls that are not ment to be here those would be spirts that have not moved on
I have troubles with believeing in God...but once you have a child you will understand my feelings of yes there are souls. and i believe that there is such a thing as a soul that is in the wrong body but not one that doesnt belong here. just my personal opinion.
its a proven fact that everyone has a soul as matter of fact they can even tell you how much your soul waighes i think its like 2 oz. but don't quote me on it
Well I don't know about not meant to be here, as I believe we are all meant to be here in some way or another. As for being in the wrong body, such as a man in a woman's body or vice versa.... I don't think it was wrong just part of that soul's learning experience in life.
I believe the term 'possession ' comes into play here.
natas where did you hear that?
All I am aware of is energy.
PurpleHaze -
Even in the case of someone being possessed?
It's an interesting question and one that I thought of when I had a miscarriage a few years ago. Everyone kept telling me that the reason my body wouldn't go through the pregnancy was because there was probably something wrong with the development of the embryo - and it just wasn't meant to be born. It sounds awful but that's what got me through that time.
After reading a few more posts, I have more angles to ponder.
One is the difference between a soul and a spirit. There is discussion of possesion, and I believe that a spirit can possess a body, share the same shell as the residing soul. I don't belive that souls can wander aimlessly, but this will require more thought.
Another idea for the soul and it's travel to/from other planets would be the concept of dimensional travel. A soul from one dimension may travel to another and reform into a new shell (new life that is formed).
Crap, I just refuted my earlier discussion.
My head hurts...
I believe that all souls have a purpose and are meant to be and have a place that they belong and are meant to be wherever they are.
I wonder though ... Would the case of souls not meant to be in a certain body apply to tran-sexuals? Guy born in girls body slash girl born in a guys body?
I have heard about some people who believes they were born into the wrong body. Or even the wrong species. I've mainly heard these stories through the Otherkin community.
Maybe but it would depend on the point of view of our galaxy and the here after.
Damn, Gregory, you have some really thought provoking topics.
I'm Christian, so I do believe in the existence of souls. Basically, I see them as what separates us from the physical world of "What is" into "Who are". If someone asked you "what" you are, you would say "human" (or whatever you may call yourself here). If you asked "who" you are, you would say your name or talk about your traits as a person. If you tried that with something not-alive, such as a cage or pencil, you could acknowledge "What" it is, but "who" it is doesn't make sense.
Back to your original question: I don't think anyone is a "mistake" (despite what transsexuals and the like will say). I believe we were all brought here for a purpose, even those not given long lives such as enfants.
Who are we as humans to decide what exists and what doesn't? We could sit here all day and say that it doesn't exist and then something else would make us stop and think. Who can say if they exist until you die? And if we die, then what?
There are sitings all around the world that say ghosts, which are the imprints of energy and sometimes "souls" of the once living. Are they all lying? Could it all be a conspiracy?
So stop to ask yourself this question, do any of us have the energy to change things just by sure will power? Yes. Are we petrified wood floating down the river or are we living and breathing people with intelligent minds? And why not a rock move and feel like us?
If we do not have souls, then what sets us apart from anything else in the world?
Just random thoughts, don't take them to heart. :P
xXxReadyMadePoisonxXx ,
You help to brind up an important fact. The one thing that separates humans from all of the other living creatures (at least on earth) is the ability to ponder things like we are discussing.
No other creatures are in a position to think about other planets, other lifeforms, souls, spirits, our reason for being, the possible existance of something more than us.
Dolphins may be smart, but they are really only worried about hunting down some fish to eat, then frolicking with other dolphins, and finishing off with activities that create little baby dolphins.
lol I don't think the dolphins even worry about some of that stuff. They juat do things that are normal for them.
Bur us humans do things that are not all that normal.
But then who can say what is normal? :P
All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream. ~
Edgar Allan Poe
I believe there are some displaced souls caught between worlds possibly out there, hey look anythings possible. Hard to disprove it. I keep an open mind, though realistically speaking, its seemingly doubtful. I'd never completely rule it out. Souls in dreams can get lost, spirits can invade other bodies, and other entities...dead spirits can take over the souls of the living...in the vast realm of the universe, who's to say what's possible and what isn't...why even put a limit on it. Skies the limit I say.
I must disagree with readymadeposion and thedog, I think that animals can too ponder. Maybe not like us, but they think. I also believe that they dream and 'know'. Just because we're on the top of the food-chain, doesn't bring every other animal on this planet down to nothing. That's a very naive suggestion.
NocnaMora I do not believe the soul has a gender therefore I don't think the person being a transexual would have any effect on the soul at all.
When you put it that way it sounds alright.
But still, it could indeed be possible.
Gregory,
I'm saying they don't have thoughts. They do have brains and like it or not they can have thoughts I'm just saying that they are not as complex as ours. They don't have the capacity yet. And we're so not the top on the food chain cause other things like tigers and bers can still eat us! lol
You just defeated yourself in 2 sentences. First you said animals can't have thoughts.. and then in the next sentence you said they could.
You and thedog originally said that animals can't 'ponder' and think about the world's future.. and their own future. I disagreed with that, because I feel animals can too do those things. We aren't the only living creatures on this planet that can think, ponder, and process thoughts.. that would be rather crazy to think.
Anyways, this is way off-topic. Back to the original discussion about -souls- please.. =)
I belive everything that breathes has a soul but I also belive that souls can be in the wrong body
After thinking on what ya said you're right cause my cat can think for herself and that's it.
OK, I'm done now. lol
Always ment to be. It's just for only a short time to touch someone's life. To change you, lead you to you "goal" in life. If a child dies everyone cares, which starts charity funds and knowlege about the disease they died from. Helping many from one death.
i believe that every soul is meant to be possibly could be in the wrong body some people believe that they should have born a boy and some girl it's not a mind thing that felling runs a lot deeper then that its in the soul
I don't think so. I find it very hard to imagine a soul could be misplaced like that.
Gregory,
I can understand that you may believe that animals are capable of complex and creative thought, just as a human is. But I still think that they fall WAY short of our capacity. Animals can perform some cognitive thought and communication (with the aid of a human instructing them) and they are capable of simple tool usage and problem solving.
They are still not capable of what I would call transcendant thought. Such as the ability to create and/or admire art, music, literature, or to compemplate faith and belief, such as the practice of a religion or comtemplating the existance of beings from other planets.
To aid your understanding of this, I invite you to research and read the many pages of information on the web on this topic. I even offer this one up that helps to reinstate this fact:
http://www.pbs.org/thinktank/transcript802.html
If you are able to offer some background information that substanciates your side of the discussion, I invite you to post the reference material so that I can read and better understand your stance.
i think, i hate to put it this way but, i think that the souls that are not really meant to be here on Earth are the young children or teens that taken from us too soon
I apologize if this hurts anyone feelings
A soul being in the wrong body could possibly an explaination for homosexuality. I, personally, believe it's genetic but anything when it comes to the paranormal and spiritual realm is possible.
what about Azazel the body jumper isn't he a soul thats not meant to be in other peoples bodies?
I don't believe in this as I have never seen proof. However I'd love for my grandpa's soul to visit me, I'd love to communicate with my grandma for him.
I believe that their are souls who haven't done what they beleived they needed to do on this earth so they haven't left.
I don't even have to believe in souls to parse the language. Meant to be implies conscious forethought, like there's a central clearinghouse of soul assignments. Not meant to be implies someone screwed up the shipment.
first, you would have to believe in the existence of the soul.
then, you would have to buy into the hubris that the "soul" occasionally can have a deep "injustice" done to it by being misplaced....
No, You, the long run make who you are and who you end up to be. Of cose the people areoud you help to make your personality BUT i strongly agree that yo make your decisions throught you life of who you want to be and be thought as.
Therefore if you want to think you are in the wrong body you have made it that way. Most everyone is too afraid of making and taking that chance that could make them who they want to be, i have seen it too many times. No excuses are to be made, sometimes it may take awhile to make it but if you keep at it you can make you who you want to be. I love challanges. But i STRONGLY [and i mean strongly] think some people SHOULD be sterlized!
_I think that, while all souls are supposed to be here, it is possible for one soul amongst many to be in the wrong place._
i think all souls here on earth are given out and may become switched. You may not be the person you were supposed to be........kinda spooky
All souls are here for a reason. You don't have to have religion in order to believe in them. You might be sensing past lives that give you the impression of being in the wrong body, but I think everytime we are born into a physical form it is to continue lessons from those other lives.
i just think it's total hubris to put such a special, high "price" on what we are or our Destiny is.
Free Will on Earth is a given and we all are given the tools to personally "make" ourselves as special as we wish to be.
i dont know if this is a good example or not but i have a girl friend who finds her self majorly attracted to drag queens, she also loves half transexuals with woman parts on top and men parts below...i joke with her telling her she is a gay man trapped in a womans body. she is very confused sexually and does not feel she is in the propper body for the way she loves
I really doubt it . I believe there's a reason
for everything .
LivNdedgirl --- your friend is just exploring the latest trendy sexual option. It's already on the menu, she didn't put it there.
Did shephards of yore think they should be the same beasts they sodomized?
Maybe, but I kinda doubt it. This may have given rise to all the myths concerning half-human creatures, and also the gods disguising themselves as various animals to sneak up on unsuspecting humans, usually females.
i dont think what you are asking is possible unless you are talking about a body thief
the feeling of begin in the wrong body is quite possible. perhaps your friend is what they call otherkin.
I've heard the expression lost soul before, usually it refers to one who has passed on and not moved to the next stage yet, but I imagine it may also refer to one who is not yet meant to be here, its very possible indeed.
I dont it matters. My thoughts are that the soul only comes out when the body is dead.?
iam not familure with the term otherkin i would like to be able to tell my friend more of this sence she is in deep confustion
The question you ask depends on the situation. If it's an obviously detrimental situation, then the answer is no. In any other case, the answer would be yes. But again, that also depends on the question you're asking.
In this case, I prefer to use an adapted double adage that when applied, brings an ugly truth to the forefront of everyone's mind.
If anything is possible with God, is it possible that God made a mistake?
I'll tell you this much. If it were the case, I certainly would not want anyone knowing about it, which would be entirely egocentrical. However, for the sake of saving face, if I did make a mistake, I would own up to it. Therein lies the paradox. Take it or leave it.
here is a faq about otherkin.
http://kinhost.org/res/Otherfaq.php#1_1
i have also posted it in my journal.
generally any ghost or entity that is haunting sholdn't be here.
i agree with Gregory.but some soul don't belong here but they don't know that.
