As a metaphor I like fairies, as a child i believed in fairies and I created them in the world of fantasy D&D
My favorite moment was when I discover the Frances
Photos, I knew they where fake and I had even seen the childrens book illistration, but that proved something else to me, that children can make adults believe in fantasy as well. I became a story teller somewhere in between believing in fairies and wanting others to make believe creatively.

I like the legend and beauty of the legend. But i have no real opinion at this time of belief or no belief. I just know Peter Pan stuff on that subject.
Little winged creatures that live amongst the flowers?? Not so much. However, I can't push aside the possibility of it. It would be pigheaded of me to assume that human beings were it. Still I'm not so sure about believing in the modern day fairy. I'd be more apt to believe in previous incarnations. Such as a race of smaller people that were capable of using magic.
I believe that they exist and believe that they help in their own ways to protect people who are kind to them by leaving offerings of food and drink for them. I have heard of events occurring that can only be explained by their intervention. Keys and other small objects found in odd places, animals whining and giving attention when no one is about, and TVs turning on with no human hand.
I believe is any thing is possible for me personally yes I believe they exist! They where one of my favorites creatures as a child and still are!
faries are quite interesting i am open minded so i can't really say i don't believe in them.
thanks for the post of information.
Yes I do, it just makes the world a more interesting place
I'm Irish. Of course I believe in all manner of "little folk", fairies and all the rest. I have imagined them all my life. I would love to have an adventure with one or many of them. I believe that anything is possible.
i'm part Irish myself so when i am out in the woods, i try to clear my mind and i ask to see them if they are there.
so far it hasn't worked, but who knows someday maybe it will.
Its hard to believe in a tale that has such excessive descriptions, so many different stories that seem to be at odds with one another. I wouldn't rule it out by any means but I am leaning on the "no" side of this one.
that is interesting,i have heard stories of people who believe in them hearing tiny footsteps but never seeing them,it is possible i would not doubt their existance completely.
I love the idea of fairies, But I hate to abmit I haven't believed in them since I was about 10..
not sure if I believe in them yet I know my granddaughter does and I would do anything to help prove they do to her.. LOl I mean anything is possible I believe, so who knows maybe one day we will actually see one :)
I like the idea that why help the world stay green but as an adult I know what that is done mostly by bees.
I believe in fairie's
i have not had any personal experience that makes me believe, but I do all the same. perhaps it is just the little girl in me that wants to believe in such magical creatures
I really don't think that fairies exist. I wish they did though. They would help us out when making the decisions we need help with.

I do, and I don't. It's a nice though, but thinking about it realistically it doesn't seem likely. But then again I believe unicorns and dragons existed....guess no one will ever really know for sure.
i believe in the possibility of any and all creatures unless proven to not exist
I like making hyper active kids think they swatted one with slight of hand, for some i say they crushed a pixie, which are vicious little wee beast.. they swarm.. I hunt them and one day when I have enough of their wings I will be able to fly.. did I expose to much.. know you will all hunt them extinct so you can fly first.
Yes, I believe in fairies. I used to see them as a child. Now, I usually "see" them with my mind's eye. I have had experiences with tree spirits, mer folk, and other types of elementals. They are like the angels of the elemental kingdom to me.

dabbler, could you cite that collecting enough pixie wings can allow you to fly?
o.O
Pixies (like fairies) are all over her in California.
Whether I am able to fly or not counts on my belief in such things.
Not sure if i really believe there are fairies, but i am open minded if i should ever see one. lol
I think that it makes for a cute story and I'm always open to something like that. This is just a little to far fetched for me to take any stock in though. For one, I have a hard time seeing where they would fit the lines of evolution.
I believe..why not?
There are many legends among the many races and cultures that have some form of fairie type beings that have their own roles that they play.
Like the little people of the mist from one of my tribes. Some have had the misforune of seeing them and I'm not going to say otherwise.
I admit it I like fairies, marinated in bar-be-cue sause and lightly roasted.
No I dont
I think their more amongst the lines of a sign of hope in the world than a physical object
I don’t believe in what faeries have become in modern propaganda.
I do believe in ancient Celt law n documents, you can follow faeries back to the Tuatha race.
yes, but not as the beautiful magical creatures they are commonly mistaken for.
you should hear the stories about how the tooth fairy truly works
Well, I have never seen one. But that doesn't mean that they don't exist. I suppose anything is possible.
I thought I seen one once and made a fool of myself trying to convince others. I foud out that it was in fact a flying bug of some sort.
I would like to believe in fairies (like tinkerbell)
well i have never seen one, so i dont know if they are real or not. But i love fairys there so pretty
..have I ever seen one? No.
..no I favour the spririts of the wood, over the Christian one-God, "yes."
..so, I believe in faeries.
I love fairies, they are so beautiful and give great hope into the world.
It is a wonderful legend, but no I do not believe in them in the real world. They make for wonderful stories though!
It's a wonderful legend and I love all the stories and sharing them with my daughter but I'm a person that thinks seeing is believing. When I see a real one then I will believe.
i believe in the elementals and fairies are just a part of them. myths and legends are all built on some sort of truth so nothing should be discounted... why do people believe in god(s)/ess(es) without seeing them? and they are a creature of mystery because humans have this annoying habit of capturing stuff for everyone to see...
many things are not seen, for faires or little people they may exist in a certain way. for like i said many things are unknown and why could they not be real besides when we are drinking and see them. yes believe in this.
Typically I am a skeptic when it comes to magical creatures such as the fae. The mythology of these wee women go far back and there are very different accounts of what a fairy looks like or has the ability to do.
Seraphina makes a good point if it is at all likely that fairies exist, it would be imagined that they would want to avoid detection by humans because we like to poke and prod things we find. A fairy would really not take to well to being captured.
Fairies are real. I can not see them but had them mark me.
Train, would you kindly explain what a "fairy mark" is for the enlightenment of the crowd here?
thank you-
Yes I do I saw on about 2 or three weeks ago when I was out in the woods with a friend
I beleive that they are. They are like any magical creature. They in one form of another existed.
I love Fairies and would love to say they excist but truth be know we do not know if they do or not.
the idea of fairies being small creatures with wings is comparatively modern. in old mythology they varied in size, but were of generally human size, and did not have wings. it is not quite clear as to whether the original fairies of Celtic mythology were the Pictish aboriginal stone age people who were here before them, or the ghosts of those long passed. The Celts mixed hsitory with myth in a way that is confusing, and they often spoke in riddles and alegories. they often refered to Faieries as "the Little People" not because of their stature, but because they had little influence and were diminished as a race. it is quite likely that as they regarded them as magical anyway, the average Celt would not distiguish any difference between a living aboriginal tribe, or a gaggle of ghosts - one and the same to them.
as time moved on, the nature spirits the Celts worshipped as Gods were increasingly regarded by later civilisations as Fairies - so we now have three kinds of Fairy - a Pict, a ghost, and an ancient god / nature spirit. Celtic mythology was woven into Christian folklore. some Fairies were still believed to be quite large - as tall as 6 foot at least, whereas others were diminutive dwarvish creatures of about two or three feet tall.
the Fairies in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream were based on Celtic Gods and Godesses - though Puck actually predates the Celts as he is a varient of the Bucca or Poohka (Harvey to you).
in essence, the commonly held idea of a Fairy is a sprite - a smaller version of the Judaic angel.
and yes - i do believe in Faeries.
I do believe in fairies and other mythical creatures. There are too many things out there that haven't been explained or found so why not go ahead and add fairies as well. The world is a mysterious place.
I think there is many things in the world / universe that just because we can't prove they aren't real doesn't mean their not.
I believed in fairies as a child - now, not so much . I kinda' think that fairies and angels are in the same group, with angels having precedence.
I have crafted a way to film "fairies" on tape. It requires, Spirit thread, wind up toys, with flickering LED lights, and an obscure angle. Details in movement can be suggested as well. Jim Henson was the master at make believe.
i would love for you to share a video here in your Journal on that dabbler.
I do belive in faires and the little people.
There are numorous effective ways to contact and see them.
One of the ways is to use a halluciogen.
As for my experiences with them, I would rather keep that to myself.
When I said a halluciogen, I am not talking about the down town purchase crap.
I was reffering to medical herbs that in its pure form will open your mind a little, and if you really want to see, you will. A projection of your imagination, especially at night time.
That is however not the method I use, but I have a close friend who does.
yes - my ..erm friend.. used to use pscilicibin mushrooms too. they were very effective for enabling one to see nature spirits. particularly Dryads.
i think that if the fay wish for you to see them, you don't have to get "high" to do as much.
I believe in the idea of fairies, but like the easter bunny, i dont believe that fairies would go around waving dust over people to make them believe in them....
I saw something once when I was walking home in 2nd grade that I perceived as a fairy (it was incredibly bright and probably 8 inches tall in the middle of the air).
I saw this thing for only a moment, but to this day I wonder what it was and call it my own personal fairy.
So... yes.
Never had anything like that happen to me, but i would welcome it. :)
Of this there is no doubt... there is always ...lies something, hiden, just beneath the surface of normal sight. It tugs ever so gently on your subconcious. Either it be ghosts, fairies, leprecauns, trolls, goblins or dragons. For something to have survived so long in this world of extreme realists. There within lies the magic.
I don't believe that fairies exist as they are described in storybooks, but I do believe that in our past, primarily the Middle Ages and before, the belief in the fairy folk was able to run rampant.
There were no better ways to describe anything that happens that could not be directly observed or explained. Also, the fairy folk stories would help with...child control at times.
Add to that the skills and intelligence of dwarves and midgets (real little people) and you can help expand the stories and ledgends.
I believe that fairy folk are extinct. Their magic was paltry when confronted with modern technology. They couldn' t contend with rising human populations, overdevelopment, and cell towers. fairy wings float in the doldrums.
I am not sure, but there is a live cam I found once that you can watch for fairies and leprochauns. Yes, they have a cam somewhere in a meadow they say. I wonder if I can find that....
Ok, this isn't the one I found before, but it's one that is going now. Click on the link on there that says what others have seen. They see all sorts of stuff.

Sorry, for some reason, the link goes back to a tutorial. Just have to copy and paste. Grrr.......
anything is possible. But, without proof I ama bit skeptical
Walking through the blooming rhodies and seeing all the petals upon the floor of the forest, I want to believe in fairies, I could see them enjoying the beautiful carpet of color. However my educated mind says, No!
well you never know. stories of fairies are based on folklore passed down from one generation to the next like chinese whispers - there could be some truth behind the tales. only last year archaeologists discovered that Hobbit-like people did once exist, and found remains.
It is possible that they did once egsist i do believe they did, like dworfs(lil people) today there once was at least one or two of them
I know people who believe in fairies, and one interestingly has told me that she has seen an almost human sized as karnstein has written about.
I love the idea of fairies but until or unless I see one *shrugs*.
I've always believed in the existence of faeries since I can remember. I've never had any experiences with them yet, to my knowledge.
I can't say I believe in fairies with a straight face. I think that makes me a non-believer.
I don't beleive they exist in this plane, but perhaps in another they may very well be real.
I'm glad you pointed out that "Faerie" doesn't mean just little people with buggy wings.
By the way, I don't really believe in little humans with wings, that doesn't really make sense in itself.
However, some other strange creatures wouldn't be that surprising ;)
I believe in the "sidhe" (shee) who live in their own world underground, below the humans. They only exist in Ireland because they cannot survive except on their native soil. Some believe that the word "pixies" comes from "Picts" who were a race of small statured people who lived in Scotland. The Celts have a wealth of mythology, some finding its way into the Authurian tales, such as Morganna LeFay, who in some tales is Queen of the Fairies.
I think most of reality is perceptual. The more you believe something the more real it becomes to you
that pic of the fairies body is cool where did you find that at?
well, my sisters middle name is fae so i have to believe faries exist..... she is an evil farie beyond all evil you have ever known
i reckon Dabble swatted it himself
got the litlle bugger!
way to go
yes i believe in them for i am one and dare any1 to tellme different
I like the idea that faries could possibly exist but in this world who know for sure?
When I was a kid I always had sixpence for a tooth that came out and I put under my pillow .... so they must exist..
and for all of you who don't believe, a fairy will lose their wings and die...
