Do you wear a symbol, of some sort, to connote your beliefs to your Kindred?
If so, what symbol do you wear?
.. 'kay, I wear an Ankh: have done for either 10.. or 17 years. [PASS.. I do try to forget that ex - fiancee,]
But I do respect the feelings I got, the moment I put it on!
Dove with an olive branch to symbolize peace and hope.
I find it interesting how we each find a meaning and attach it to our personal beliefs of who and what we are with what we choose to wear, create or imprint on our person.
What I wonder is of those of your that wear symbols- do you find that they change or that over time you switch to different ones?
I wear a silver ring from my daughter that says "Blessed Be" with a star. The symbolic meaning for me is that my daughter gave me the ring on one of the worst days of my life in 2002...A day I needed strength. So that very day I looked at the ring every time I felt afraid to get thru another minute of the day. The ring has never came off my finger since.
I have my symbol tattooed on the back of my neck......
:)
Yes. I have my tattoo with the german word herzeleid. It is my symbol for myself. Everytime I look at it, I think of all the things that I have been through. It reminds me that I can be strong through even the hardest times. I only have to have faith in myself and my abilities.
I wore my pentacle until the horrible day it fell off its chain while i was in public
I have a Bind Rune I designed that I have adopted as My personal symbol. It is not so much for identifing Me to others as it is for personal reasons. I am also working on several tattoos that will be symbols for other things I believe in.
An ankh a friend of mine i met online gave to me. She said that it "felt like me". :)
Nope, I've never cared for rings or bracelets or other adornments. Even the feeling of wearing a watch drives me insane.
I do not have a symbol or anything to wear, I am just one of them people who does not believe that a symbol or Item can change or keep me safe.
I just pray and give thanks is all. guess I am different from most. LOL
I wear a gold ankh. The first ankh I received was 13 years ago, it is made of green adventurine. I keep that close as it has healing properties and was given to by my dearest friend. My extended family also placed a gold anklet on me which bares a golden panther charm
grrr grrrr purr purr
if you think about it most of you're brand name clothing has symbols , does that count?
For a kinship of comradery, yes. As with AYW, I do wear my square and compass (Freemasonic symbol ring) while in the public.
No, AYW... I do not think the Tommy Hillfiger clothing line counts. Even if the symbol of Tom does look like a swastika.
My most beloved ring is a delete key. It's a symbol of my kin -- the screw-ups. (I'm being totally serious!)
I wear my dads war thing on my shirt.it reminds me of what all he did in the war and how he raised 3 kids all by his self.
I have a tattoo on my arm and I wear a silver chain with a silver pentagram. Set in the middle is a stone for protection. I also have a small stone which I have in my wallet.
When I was four I used to have this blanket which I would take everywhere and I would twirl around my ear!
Of course being the age I am now I am unable to take the blanket with me...Dam it!
i have an Ankh necklace and i have a pentagram carved in my chest.
Not anymore.
I used to wear religious symbols and crystals in the past.
the reason i bring up brand name clothing is in certain circles its a status symbol and defines your association, for example some gangs in new york wear certain pants to convey they are in said gang.....the symbol used to brand the pants has double meaning.
Yes I do. I wear the Star of David and a cross. Both symbolize my heritage of Christianity and Judaism. My dad is Jewish my mom Christian. I am neither but inbetween. I am a Messianic Jew. That means that I have the Christian belief system and celebrate Jewish holidays. It is a mixture of both my heritages.
I wear an ankh a lot - sometimes earrings, and/or a necklace.
A black obsidian crystal necklace for non attached symbolic meaning but I also bear the scars that life has felt kind enough to have given me
The number 22 is my symbol. I have a necklace with the number, but rarely wear it. The number 22 has been with me since my existence and holds a great deal of meaning for me. In numerology it is one of the master numbers and has a dominate meaning. It can go either way as the "fool" or "great". It's my symbol because it reflects my personality so well. Sometimes I stand out as the fool, while at other times I am he master of the room. This isn't a belief or religion, just fascination. I think everyone is attracted to a certain number for certain reasons. After all numbers make the world go round. :)
Pentacle with Moonstone and a second to represent the Melchizedek priesthood. Pentacle tat on base of spine and an OM tat on my right hand. Can't miss it.
.. kinda forgot, I also wear in the left ear, eith a Yin Yang, or an Ohm symbol.
Fraternal elks lodge rings or pins, and crosses all I wear
I wear a pentacle with the phases of the moon around it made of opal and onyx.
I have my family's crest on the inside of my right wrist.
I wear my silver pentacle alot of the time, and i do also wear (not at the sametimes) my rose quartz and my hematite necklaces
Sometimes, only thing I have on at the moment is a Turkish evil eye bead and that's on my ear sleeper
The symbol that we wear, was created by an elder within the Coven to be used to identified real members from the want to be.
Some lesser symbols can be worn, wearing greater symbols shows lack of respect.
I wear a Pentagram, that I bought some time back.. It's the only symbol that I've ever worn, actually.. And for someone who finds bracelets, necklaces, rings, watches irritating and troublesome, it's a wonder how I even manage to wear the Pentagram for about half a day! Yes, it means the world to me..
i where the Ahnk. . .the Eye of Horus. . .and I like a symbol of Isis also. . . .
Yes, i wear a vile of blood around my neck to show who I am...along with a couple of dogtags and a cross....but my symbol is mostly my vile of blood
If you have read Bram Stoker (1846) and watched the real vampire princess DVD...goto Amazon...Eleonore Von Schwartzenburg (1741)...you would know the story was true, or based on truth.
He wore a silver/Jade ring found in NZ...now those devils on the thermal highway know a thing or two...
I know...they are my freinds...LOL.
Sunday church is no church.LOL.
Now you are wiser.Regards Fallingstar.
protection against Psi is a black stone begins with A from Russia...email me...and state your purpose.
My mother gave me a pentacle when I was younger. She said that it would protect me and ever since it has. Maybe I should start wearing it again :/
I wear a Tri-quetra silver ring on my pinkie which matches one my wife wears
I have also got the Dark Mark Ankh Inked on my back

I have also got a tri-quetra inked on my Right wrist and I Tibetan Master Reiki Symbol inked above it
:eyeball's Angelus:
Hey i can't help how my friend felt about me LOL That's exactly how she put it when she gave it to me :P
I wear three symbols upon me- a triple-skulled ring on my left hand, a wolf's head ring on my right, and a bat pendant around my neck. All silver. All have been 'touched' with my energies and have been involved in magickal workings.
With them on, I feel immense power.
... I have recently decided to 're-awaken' my darker aspect and utilize it, along with these pieces of jewelry to further increase my power.
Well I have both my tattoos the triquatra on my back. Symbolizing. Birth death. Rebirth. And my fox paw tatoos as the. Fox is. My animal guide and I wear usually my gold fox necklace. Ore my silver dragonfly necace. I always wear my amethyst ring.
I can see people wearing symbols of soem sort as for keep sakes and stuff yet, do people really believe that a mere symbol can protect you or give you more power of some kind?
I know many masonics in my family wear their rings in puplic as a respect to the masons and their brotherhood. yet, are the other symbols something you truly believe can save/change your life?
I am just curious since I do not believe they carry power. but, I find them interesting all the same. just was wondering is all.
Of course symbols have power.
Words are symbols of thought.
You cannot deny words have power... all symbols have power... not just words.
Well when I got my back tattoo I was going thru some. Major life changes. Starting over and beginning again after a terrible ending... its something. That is a daily reminder that life must go on.
Well that is true words/ and symbols do have meanings I guess when you actually think about it, I mean we show our colors proudly from any and all countries. As on our Flags.
I guess Ijust did not really look at it that way. yet there are many symbols for many things and yes soem are meanings. I am just one of them who does not really get into symbols I guess.
I have fourteen tats, each with a special meaning that reminds me of someone or something.
"Well that is true words/ and symbols do have meanings I guess when you actually think about it, I mean we show our colors proudly from any and all countries. As on our Flags."
And or the clothing that we wear.
I had 3 studs in ear shaped as a triangle the reason i do not know i liked anything to do with egypt as a child, so as a teen i put the pyramid shape in my ear, i took them out recently i got bored of them and only have one there now
What i would like to do is desighn my own symbol, i have a good idea now and maybe i will have a tattoo of it, just something i keep meaning to do and be sure of as it will be there 4 ever, covering up my ghastly bat hanging off a broken guitar neck so a cover job is needed it's not a work of art lmao
Having my own idea is what i like best rather than having a recognised symbol others use, it means freedom to me to have my own ideas now
Hi MasqueradeDoll,
The Reiki Symbol of have tatooed on my wrist is the symbol that Reiki Healers who are attuned to a certain level visualise for a certain energy type.
Its complicated to go into but put basically like that it certainly does have its own power but I have to direct its use for it to work.
Healthy skepticism is good and understandable but undeniable when you experience it for yourself.
I believe that symbols have powers through belief. A good example of this is said in V for Vendetta. "A building is a symbol, as is the act of destroying it. Symbols are given power by people. A symbol, in and of itself is powerless, but with enough people behind it, blowing up a building can change the world." Even personal symbols are given power through personal belief. While a symbol can't save your life by wearing it, wearing it can guide your actions through your own beliefs in it and, through that guidence, may save your life.
I wear a silver triquetra necklace I made, and a celtic knot ring on my thumb that my mom bought me..
I wear a bear tooth on a chain. Bears have special meaning to me.
I used to wear pentacles, ankhs, pendulums, the whatnot. The only thing I wear now, is my wedding band, and soon I will be taking my ink virginity, lol. I will be getting a design with my 2 daughters initials in it.
Like two said earlier I wear my ring with my square and compass on it.
I also wear my silver house ankh from time to time.
I dont really wear these things as a "beacon" to let others know what I am, but they hold personal value to me as they were both gifts from people that have affected me and assisted in my personal growth.
a Cat holding a pentagram that my mother gave me on graduation because it spoke to her of me.
I really don't think that anything but yourself can keep you safe from harm.
I personally do not wear a symbol with a basic reason: I do not have one. A basic sigil is a common symbol with those of our kind. I think that wearing a symbol openly might cause problems for the wearer due to intolerance.
A small tattoo of an ankh I designed. It's not visible to the public, it reminds me of my past, how far I've come and that I control my future.
I wear Thors Hammer on alot of my clothes, and also have it tattood over my heart.
this is a form of one

That is kool looking. Vlad that is very interesting I mean you believe in it so there for it is powerful for you. See I understand all that and I am by no means being rude, yet, what was t happen to this symbol or anyones symbol.. like got erased off the planet banned to be worn or seen etc. I mean what happens then? I guess I am not a believer in anything other than nature. once it is gone then I know all is gone and nothing left to believe. just how I feel sorry. maybe that makes me strange LOl or just realistic. I must be boring LOL
Hello,
I wear a silver stake to remind me that werewolves (represented by the silver) and vampires (represented by the stake) are equally weak and equally strong. We are all children of the night.
I have 3 tattoos that symbolize things that are important to me all of which can be seen on my profile. The only one that might need some explanation is the dragon. I was born in the year of the dragon and have a great affinity for them. The only other symbol I wear regularly is a wooden cross on a necklace.
A jade and silver ring...see Port photo...
A black abstenite ?crystal neck chain...which seems to freak out those in the know...a drain? but I like it?
No idea why it was just unique being the only one in the shop apparently the stones from West Russia.
In truth the only one I have ever seen.
Hope this helps I am not really into stones but I kinda feel uncomfortable without them now...wierd? TFS.
I also wear several other things that never are removed....including a tigers eye necklace from my best friend, and a gold necklace of all charms given to me by my daughter....among many other symbols...including my 16 tattoos. Each and every one has a meaning and a symbol of love and importance.
I have a pentagram and Celtic knotwork tatooed on my back that symbolize my heritage and my belief that man and nature are an equal and opposite force. I also wear a ring from my husbands grandmother . It is a 3k topaz from italy she brought over on the boat. It symbolizes the endurance and longevity of love to me.
I have a few symbol's that I wear... I wear my wedding ring that was handed down on my husband's side... I have three symbols that I drew tattoo'd on my spine... I always have a dragon somewhere on me at all times besides the one tattoo'd on me... somedays I wear my pentacle while others I wear some piece of chainmaille jewelry that my husband has made me...
Besides my wedding ring and my dragons, I don't see the need to really wear "symbols" all that often unless I feel that I might need a little extra protection for one reason or another....
I used to wear symbols. But most have either been tattooed or branded on my skin now.
I wear several a turtle for the great father in Indian belief, a Celtic cross and claddagh ring and and Egyptian ankh.
MasqueradeDoll in answer to your question as far as I am concerned in the UK the chances of symbols becoming banned are very very unlikely and in the event that it does happen well I am a renegade anyway so stuff them, they'll have to cut of my arm to get rid of it LOL
Pagan symbols worn openly in the UK (dpending where you live) can draw lots of attention for small minded individuals but you really tend to find that most people whom deem pagan symbols in such a way are far to scared to shout you out.
Britain is full of opinionated people who tend to only voice there opinions openly if they feel you are weaker than them.
When a hulking 6ft giant walks down the road with pagan symbols on most people just stare straight ahead if not cross the road.
I find it sad but funny at the same time.
My idiotic cousin who is a born again christian calls me a satanist just because I wear a triquetra, I happen to hold those beliefs lol but still..........
I wear a silver claddagh ring, with the heart facing away from me (for now anyways) My heart is open, but will not be claimed by anyone I do not love, trust and have an amazing friendship with, ever again.
I am also getting a celtic trinity, with in a trinity tattood on my lower back to symbolise the changes in my life and that I will never go back, as well as Dream, Love and hope tatooed beneath it in viking runes. Celitc and Viking are a major part of my heritage, being from the wirral, lol.
I live in England, as opposed to 'Britain'.
I have hung with 'alternatives' for most of my Life.. and rarely see the same sort of hassle being meted out that the respondant awhile ealier spoke of.. perhaps in his part of Britain.. not in my part of England.
I do I wear and ankh to symbolise life, and I wear a pentagram to symbolise my connection to the elements.
i wear two symbols one in necklace form and one in tattoo form....i wear a pentacle around my neck on a simple silver chain i have wore it for years now...i have my daughters footprints tattooed on the upper left hand part of my chests as a daily reminder that though she now rests with the Goddess and the Angels she is always with me...i hope to ne day get a Triple Goddess tattooed on my back or arm.
I am British lol...and I live in the United Kingdom...Hmm we still United lol
I have never seen anyone in my country being tormented for wearing a symbol other than christian on their arm or neck or shirt!
I live in a small community and have never had any issues. If anything people will come over to me and ask me about it. Some will find it interesting where as others boring.
I can imagine that perhaps in a small Isolated area there may be people who do opose it. I have not come across any yet!
Pentagram neclace, pentagram gauges, swastika tatooed on my chest, and an inverted cross in the middle of my back
TheBan.. I wasn't being unpatriotic.. I wasn't making a point. I'm not Scottish, not Welsh.
And yeah, I do live in a small area.. and mebbe I had a few strange look or so.. twenty to thirty years ago, but definitely Not Now.
~Britain is full of opinionated people who tend to only voice there opinions openly if they feel you are weaker than them.~
Absolute rubbish...where I live lol
Angelus, I was playing with your words. I did not state that you were being unpatriotic. : )
Though don't get me started on a discussion about the Government...lol
.. the government?
Which one?? The Bankers you mean.. ?
Sorry, my bad.. but yes, I often wonder why people choose to be so damn intolerant.
i wear a dog tag chain with some scrape metal on it that looks kewl.
