How surprised was I, when, checking on the coven contests tonight, I noticed that the matrices have been removed? So many pleasurable hours spent with a dictionary and a pencil figuring out the 8x8s. So, I take this moment now to honor our departed friend, and to thank the great Cancer for coming up with such a wildly addictive game. Let's raise our glasses to the few members who've ever conquered a 8x8, and thank the many people who created the matrices for us to solve.

If people hadn't cheated the Matrix would still be there no doubt.

Yes, the cheating was disgusting. I thought better of so many of those people.

For those who enjoyed this aspect of the rave, I will gladly raise my glass.

I was never able to complete one. I must join in the mourning of something so great that I never had the chance to finish.

I'm sure Cancer was no happier than the rest of us for seeing his great game being turned into a cheap way to gain favor by cheating. So long matrices, so many of us hardly knew you.

I don't see how that was possible, but it's sad that it is gone.

Ah. People would create a matrix and then give the answers to their friends in other houses. They could trade answers back and forth, racking up points like no one's business.

I know there are people out there smarter than I. It is sad. Favors aren't worth getting for the House or Coven if one has to cheat.

No, no they aren't. And that's why we now have to miss our difficult friend.

I heard they cheated with some software which was out there and it helped them geuss the words - shrugs-

Well, there are programs on the internet that can help you narrow down the choices, but I know for certain that people were using the answer trading trick. I haven't heard anything about the other one.

What a shame. I was warming up to the idea. I had finally "sorta" figured it out. Unfortunately it's gone and now I cannot put my theory to the test.

Nothing to say they can't be done by hand. These types of brain puzzles are good for you, and can even help expand your vocabulary.

That sucks - I was just starting to get good at them too... :-(

Hopefully the cheaters have been thrashed soundly about the head and shoulders...

... however, I know several people solved some of my better ones - rather quickly - and I NEVER share answers...

well if history is an indication...in other cases of rampat cheating..there have been profile deletions and site bans put in place.....

Well, sometimes it is just skill and luck that leads to a quick defeat of a matrix. I solved a 7x7 in twenty minutes once. And it only took me about an hour to do an 8x8 if I concentrated. Still, cheating did occur, and the guilty members that Cancer was able to track down were punished. For second offenders, quite severely, I might add.

I never solved one, but all the ones i created, except one, they were all solved.
At one point, i gave up, lol.

i was just getting into it lol, it sucks that some people feel they need to cheat to get favor, im sure they would have managed with an online dictonary, a pencil and a pad...o well it was a good game :P

Hey, for someone new like me, can you explain what is it about?
I guess it's a logical game or something like that.

grrrr I was still trying to figure out how to solve the Matrix puzzles... : sighs: now I am never going to get to figure it out... was so close... grrr.

Matrix was a Word game, and a great one at that. To solve one you only needed a good dictionary, some time and lots of patience.

It's gone now, and I feel the withdrawals coming on already. It was a very addicting game. I'll miss the late night matrix solving.

Oh...REALLY...Bane of my existence...if anything could reduce me this game did...every matrix I made was solved...quickly...I will not miss this game...but I will give it the respect that it's due.

finally figured it out and *poof* gone.. Oh well it was a challenging game .., and be missed by many..

aww im said to here it.. i left the house im in (actually i got permission to leave) but there was nothing i enjoyed more then to spend hours on a matrix.. it was for me the only good thing about being in a house.. i loved that game

I tried a few but never had a chance to get the hang of it. It's a shame to see them go!

I made a few but I was often to impatient to solve them.

I enjoyed making them, i liked looking for words that were all connected by one small detail.

Aw man.... I need the matrix! With college courses starting back up for the summer, my time is significantly reduced, and playing hangman just isn't going to hack it.

Beside, that game was fun... *siiiiigh*

I am sorry to see them gone. It took me a while to figure out how they worked but once I knew how to work them I really enoyed them.

I raise my glass to that... they were more of a challange then anything my mind could handle but i loved making them... its sad that many resorted to cheating... what did they gain from that except empty praising that only made thier guilt burn hotter.

Dirty cheaters. Matrix was cool, y'know..I probably used a whole pack of size a4 paper to write my matrices on! DAMN. Not that I could ever solve anything more then a 5x5 lol I'll miss it!

DONT CHEAT! I don't wanna be stuck with the blue dude game :P He's cool but I didn't need to use my brains on that : (or paper)

I tried so hard to solve an 8x8, but never got past a 5x5 and a 6x6 matrix. I even found a cool page that had a listing of words by the size of their words and looked through them as i would a dictionary, and never got past 4 or 5 of the words before they become to hard to deal with and i spent more time than i could afford to spend playing it. I could hit 100 favor doing hangman faster than doing an 8x8 matrix. This was truely a great mind game, and i wish i had solved at least one 8x8 before it was taken off.

Once you found the trick to the 8x8s, they got easier. But, explain as I may, you had to find the trick for yourself.

I tried and tried and could never figure them out...i jus didnt understand how to do them, but i was tryin to figure them out..sad that people have to go off and ruin a good thing for everyone

I've been trying to play 5x5x5 for the past couple nights but no one's ever on! When somebody was at a table last night, I joined them and waited for 10 minutes but no moves were made...Anyone ever play that game at all?

i didn't get to play...sounds like it would have been fun...
