Blood magick is magick with the intentional release or shedding of blood involved in the ritual. The moral implications of this would depend on the willingness of the donor and of course the intent of the ritual. The rule of three is in effect and care should be taken as to what is promised and who the promises are made to as rituals are contracts you get nothing for nothing.

blood magic is a form of magic in which the practitioner uses thier own blood as a focus. most blood magic is used to inhance ones own person and in most cases not very effective at influancing outside forces. if one is using the blood of another for magic, you are simply performing a sacrifice and nothing more.

Blood magick is rituals that involve blood, whether it be your own or someone else's. These are usually darker than most and the consequences could possibly be worst if you don't do it right.
But, Riper, if you're talking about your other forum about being born into magick, are you perhaps asking the same question only in different words? Blood magick, as in being born with these 'powers'? Or perhaps chosen for them? Just wondering what you're getting at...

I have heard of rituals that use blod not only for self enhancement but for use with entrallment.

There had been a rather intense thread not long ago on blood magic, maybe you could read that thread and see what other uses blood had in regards to rituals.

Okay so, are we talking about offerings? I mean I am pagan and all, but to be quite honest the only branch of paganism that I am aware of (I could be wrong) that practices the blood offerings and such is the Satanists. If we are talking of the same thing, perhaps looking up more on that faith or paganism would help you on your search.

I have heard the term "blood magic" used in reference to rituals that needed blood. As I understand it, usually an animal blood can be used but a person's blood, especially the one performing the ritual, is a more powerful substance. As for spells, sorry out of my realm.

Interesting that i find a question about blood magick, all tools that i make for myself are made with what you would call blood magick. Thus when performing my rituals it makes it my own and only my own.My tools therfor are a part of me which generates more energy and are binded to me so they cannot be used by others with the same affect.

Theban's right, Riper, you need to write your own work. No two people are the same after all and using someone else's spell/ritual, may not work for you. Look up some sites on writing your own, I think that's your best bet at this point if you really want to harness whatever you think this is that you've got.

As one who actually practices Magick and walks the grey path, blood magick as you have described here is something I am not familiar with.
What I am familiar with is binding a spell or ritual with MY Own Blood , no one elses to enhance the spell or ritual I am performing as an offering to the goddess/god. It is in no way associated with Black Magick, at least with me.

As I understand it blood magic is the utilization of raw energy that blood contains as well as a high emotional feedback.
Ive hurd of a spell in wich you take a small pool of blood closing your eyes and consintrate on a person at the same time you consintrate on the emotion that you most feel for them.
for example, if I where to consintrate on a friend who lived far from me and didint know exactly how much I cared for them I could do so to show my exact feelings.
more or less to make people feel better or worse dangerous as it may have dire feedback from a more powerful being.

I have used blood magick in rituals which call for the use of the operators blood to bind with Lilith, and with my blood and my lover to create a blood bond. These spells are not found easily, and arepracticed by those following the "Left Hand Path". There are "Dianic" wytches who use menstrul blood in their rituals (see Zee Budapest literature) I am a member of OTO and have not used blood in any rituals but have used semen in the "Cakes of Light" usedin the Gnostic Mass.

I have heard of it, but do not practice it myself. I always understood blood magick to be used mainly in sacrificial ceremonies and voodoo practices. As I practice both Druidism and Wiccan, I tend to stay away from it, because I was always told the blood magick spells were iffy at best and more likely to backfire.

The only time I've heard of blood being used in Magick is when you use a couple droplets of you or someone else's blood in a regular spell in order to strengthen it. Blood is a very powerful addition to any spell, so don't be messing around with it immaturely or anything.

Like Zoraya, the only way i've used blood in rituals is to 'seal the deal' as it were. And i guess offering up some of your own blood as a 'sacrifice' is good if you're asking for something from the deity, like a libation (sp?), and it personalises the spell too.

Well, I have this to say. As a practicing blood 'witch' for over 20 years, this is most entertaining, the link http://www.flamesfirepit.org/blood_magick.htm was decently close exept in one thing, mentral blood is the last thing a blood 'witch' uses, why you may ask .. because menstral blood is dead blood fo course, there is no longer any life, nor any energy with that blood. however, for many what little blood 'magick' anyone will find online is about all anyone will find out. Blood 'magick' is a highly restricted practice, and most are born into the practice thru family. And I can and will tell you this, no proper blood 'magick' user will ever tell any their secrets, unless it is for teaching of ones son or daughter (or other closely related family). If any questions, ask me, and I can tell you what I can, I share none of my secrets, however, I can still help and aid in the use of other 'magicks' that I may know, one might be suprised to know how much blood 'magick' is in nearly all other 'magicks'.

The use of a drop of blood to seal an oath or vow has long associations for many different cultures around the world. But blood can have many other magical uses including anointing tools such as candles, wands, athames, amulets, talismans and similar. When used to anoint a candle, the energy that it imparts to the candle would be released as the candle burns. It can also be used to mark a parchment or slip of paper on which an intention or spell has been written. The paper can then be burned, releasing the energy to manifest your goal. A drop of blood could be used to mark a cord and knots when performing knot magic. A drop of blood on the finger could also be used to draw a symbol of power. In all cases, the blood carries the magician’s life force essence, which is used to impart that energy elsewhere.*winks*

Another copy and paste job.

Blood Magick you can incorporate into any ritual or basic spell that you're doing. In my opinion, it tends to make a spell stronger because you're giving it something to hold onto- something real. You can 'dress' your candles before a ritual with blood and other oils and herbs.

I use the blood magic. No books or knowledge, just my own belief.

The ritual is quite easy, it doesn´t have strict rules.I have some written spells, but i often insert some special words (it takes on what i am trying to get).Of course, my blood isnt very strong, as i am not too old or skilled, so it´s not like i can harm, curse, summon or control someone. After the phase of "calling" (the bleeding an spell) I burn the blood on the fire ("sacrifice").

PS1: there is no need to make yourself bleed to death! (the stroger blood, the less you need)

PS2: remember that there is someone who accepts your blood... (I call those "spirits") AND DEFINITELY THEY ARE NOT MEANT TO BE FROM HELL!!!
--->Look around you, how much power can have the Earth herself?

PS3: Make sure not to use blood magic as the only way to solve your problems! Doing this too often (asking for powers) can be takes as greedy.

Blood magic - thaumaturgy - is real, believe me, and it is fucking scary shit.

Been there, done that. Never again. I won't go into too many details (it chills me to the bone just tom think of it), but I tried it in a few hoodoo rituals and spells, in particular trying to unite myself with someone I loved through the mystic energy which lies in the blood...

Lets just say i - we - got more than i bargained for. We caught a "cold", if you like. By that, i mean a demonic fucking spirit got attached to our lives, and started playing hell with us - ironically in the area of our lives that I was trying to make good with the thaumaturgy.

This was a few years back, and I guess I didn't know the risks of what I was fuckin with. So please, if you insist on practising this kind of thing, be very, very careful.

You never know what you might inadvertantly invite into your life.

lol... I just find it funny to see people try to look up on google Blood Magick. First of all the best way of finding information on anything relating to magic is looking at history and finding cultures that use blood in rituals. Blood Magick or Blood Magic is modern version ussually conducted by Wiccans and Modern day Witches. It is something that I have seen people do and act like it is this "Great" thing. In truth I find it based on little fact and more personal belief. Like they say "Faith is Blind".. In truth if it works for you doesn't mean it really works. I have seen people that claim spells work and so on and I don't see the effects.

Example:

My friend did a blood spell to summon a spirit. She claimed it worked and that the spirit is in her. In truth she ended up getting an infection from the cut and what she felt was sickness from the infection. She still till this day believes the spirit entered her.

Though I do know people that truely follow the new age paith of magic and they are what I consider good people and their knowledge is something I respect.

Overall Blood magick is just that a ritual you can find in most cultures around the world.

Other than that I have only used blood as an offering to my goddess in ritual after I got robbed at gun point.

In response to the question of blood sacraficing.. it doesn't take alot of blood to make a sacrafice. A good example of this would be in Greece where the Taurian cult of Artemis was moved, instead of men being outright killed as they were on Taurus, only a few drops of blood from the neck were sacraficed.

Sacrafice is not always blood, but is any offering solely to the deity.. often times in a method where it is consumed by the deity (whether this be into a hole in the ground or by a fire). I just wanted to clarify what sacrafice is a bit more. Essentially once it is offered to the gods it no longer belongs to people.. and in some beliefs not touched again by people (or only elected few who are properly prepared to do so).

People of Rome would offer the bodies of their enemies that they were fighting against in hopes that the gods would claim them (and thus save the Roman armies from having to fight them).

The sacrafice of blood historically and in modern practices that i am personally familiar with (not to say that I am familiar with a wide range) are something that are done for specific purpose and intent and are not taken lightly. Often to appease an angry deity, or if you have something really big you want to ask of them.

I would like to reiterate that blood sacrafice is NOT synomnous with killing.

Isn't the Christian sacrament or "Holy Eucharist" a 'blood rite' of sorts? Catholic faith holds that the wine undergoes a mystical change to the actual blood of Christ when it's taken.

Here is a book on this. It will vary in view depending on what type of magickal practice is being done and how they are using the blood. If they are not of a Wiccan persuasion which most doing these kinds of things are not, three fold will mean nothing to them. It's a Wiccan concept. Satanists would not follow or believe this nor would most vampyrics of a darker nature who practice these types of rituals or ceremonies.

Here is a book: Blood Magick-Published: October, 2003, author Seth

If you were typing in blood magic you get the game...most occultists follow using the Crowley K.

Here are some sites:
http://www.flamesfirepit.org/blood_magick.htm

http://paganjournal.com/tarot/isbn0595298397.html

http://www.waningmoon.com/darkpagan/lib/lib0003.shtml

Satanism has many types just like Christianity. So what LaVey practiced is lightweight in comparison to say the Brotherhood of Darkness who let their Cabals choose if they want to practice human sacrifice or not. Many of these groups connect into this one.

Now the other thing is called Transubstantiation. Here is some info on that.

The Roman Catholic Church believes that, in accordance with what Jesus said, the underlying reality was changed: the "substance" of the bread was converted to that of his body. In other words, it actually was his body, while all the appearances open to the senses or to scientific investigation were still those of bread, exactly as before. The Church holds that the same change of the substance of the bread and of the wine occurs at the consecration of the Eucharist.
The bread is changed into Jesus' body, but, because Jesus, risen from the dead, is living, not only his body is present, but Jesus as a whole, body and blood, soul and divinity. The same holds for the wine changed into his blood.

In my use of blood magic, I make burnt offerings of blood to the demons/angels I bid to grant my requests. However, one must have the correct protections before conducting this ceremonial magic.

Popular in the Tremer Clan, in the White Wolf genre. I have heard little reference to such things in other Occult text.

There are a few Illusions that involve manipulation of Blood in the performer though.

The rule of three is a modern concept that didn't exist or was even talked about until people started getting involved with Wicca. I heard no one talk about this before the 70s. Some talked of karmic retribution but never a rule of three and it only applies to those who believe in it. Blood could be incorporated as rites to any ritual depending on what the group believes about the nature of blood itself. Jimmy Lee Shreeve, (journalist) a writer in the UK, wrote a book about two years ago called Blood Rites and possibly that would go into some of it. He is a hoodoo practitioner (Doktor) that now does chaosmagic or so he said last time we emailed.

As far as what LaVey may have done the sky is the limit. He did a lot of things as he was well versed in the occult and created a religion to get IRS status. He was a con artist much like L. Ron Hubbard. The story can be found if you look. He may very well have used blood as he was into a lot of things. As far as giving spells here in this group I don't think that is a good idea because there are children here. Not everyone uses spells like a Wiccan would do ... some use sigils or mantras and various other means. I would look up sex magick because often those two go together.

Some references to. blood, if viewed in context, are symbolic.

How likely is an initiate to go around talking about a fraterity, if there is a chance that the fact that they danced naked smeared with blood, was likely to come to light?

I knew a wiccan who allowed me to observe some of her spell work and she performed a spell using a drop of her blood, it was a commitment ritual with her lover.

However, there was no way for me to tell how or if the spell actually worked or if the blood had any affect on it.

She said she wrote the spell herself and that a blood ritual was common in pagan marriage ceremonies in Europe. I have to be honest I never really did any research into that part on my own, I just took her word for it.

Blood ritual on a practical level. Well stated.

Blood Brothers, and the practice of hunters drinking blood from their first kill.

So is their a difference between the two.

I do not think there is much a difference.
There is a ritual going on, but of course the level of dedication and intent is up to who's performing it.

I know a girl who got married on a deer hunt.At the end of the wedding they drank the deers blood. Commitment in blood. Might have added to it if it was their own blood, in my opinion.

Umm yuk!

So let's see if I'm getting this right. The use of blood in a ritual is more about preference or is it about power?

Blood is the preference no doubt for "blood magick". haha
It holds power and intent. Also the act of auto blood sacrifice holds even more power and dedication to the rite.

As another post mentioned if you are using the blood as a offering to a spirit of course it is related to the power the blood holds. As seen in voodoo rituals not only blood but rum and cigars are also used as worthy offerings.

Blood Magick is similar as doing a blood offering, or sacrifice, because in a sense you are sacrificing a part of yourself when you use your own blood. I used to do a lot of blood magick but there are many dangers to it, and be very specific in what you are asking for, as with any spell of course but especially with blood magick it is very potent. In may cases a demon can be congured.

I use Dragons blood for writing sigils normally, as sacrificing to the gods is so last century lol

The origin of blood was around menstruation, fertility and sacrifice.
To offer blood the life force of the living was an ultimate gift to the gods of old.
Nothing much has changed when someone kills for there god.

Any occult/esoteric shop is usually the best place to get Dragons Blood.

I relate to the blood magik rituals of a few places that ~Dabbler~ has already stated such as: The blood brother ceremony - actual blood exchange, religous sacrament - symbolic blood exchange, first warrior kill - actual blood exchange, ritual - cutting of oneself for the connection between self and the universe - actual blood exchange.

In all cases it is either symbolic or actual exchange. Depending on what it is needed for and if your stomach can handle the act of the "bloodlet."

meso-america is rich in blood magick, as for some African tribes that im not as familiar with.. pagans are rich in it also. but these are some of the things i know of

Bloodletting was performed by piercing a soft body part, generally the tongue or penis, and scattering the blood or collecting it on paper, which was subsequently burned.[1] The act of burning the sacrificed blood symbolized the transferal of the offering to the gods via its transformation into the rising smoke.

Piercing was accomplished using using obsidian prismatic blades, stingray spines, or shark's teeth. Under some circumstances, a rope with attached thorns or obsidian flakes would be pulled through the tongue or earlobes.

there is also the north american sundance

my understanding is that blood magic is similar to sex magic, and that semen can take the place of the blood. i dont know if a womans lubricating fluids would have the same effect or not, but it would seem logical that they would.
