this thread is directed towards those that believe in reincarnation...(i would like everyones view and please tell me if you believe in reincarnation or not ) a question i read reacently made me think about reincarnation and the life span of a dog..."do you think that having passed away you get reincarnated as a dog over and over until you have paid pennance for all your sins as a human.???"
i do not believe in reincarnation however i feel that if i did my answer would be yes...
I'm a new believer in reincarnation. Only so far as that humans reincarnate as humans. Dogs and cats may also get reincarnated but they get reincarnated as dogs and cats. I do not believe that in reincarnation that species interchange. I refuse to believe that the mosquito that I killed was a human spirit that is paying pennance
maybe it did ...i figure if they got reincarnated as a mosquito they must have been a pretty bad person and you saved them by cutting thier term short..lol
I do believe in reincarnation but I do not believe I'll be another life form. To learn and grow it would need to be as a human. I do not believe dogs or any other animal would need to do penance.
I do believe in re-incarnation,, and the bhagivad ghita,, I dont think I spelled that correctly,, does state that an individual is re-incarnated into animals, and the way they lived their life depends on what animal they become.
Reincarnation, if one believes in it, occurs so that we may learn the different lessons life has to offer. In some cases, this means you will reincarnate into the being that is most likely to help you learn. I highly doubt it works on a reward/ punishment system. That was instilled by the christian church.
I do believe in reincarnation and i think you are right
I shall start researching that topic for you,, I myself only know what i have heard,, as soon as I can find the proper spelling,, I shall post it for you

I didnt read the other posts on this because I want to just simply give my views on it. They may not be typical but I think everyone to a certain extent has their own opinon on this.
I do not think that you would come back as a dog every life. I do believe in reincarnation, but I believe we get to have a say in what we return as. I dont think it is punishment. I think that maybe some people get sick of the trials of being human so they decide to come back as something different. They may not be right, but thats just how I believe.
hmmm ok well i certainly believe in reincarnation from the egyptian view... being reincarnated as an animal that is a symbol of an egyption god or icon.
there is also the indian view, that when you if you believe in reincarnation, that you will either become greater than a human or lesser than a human depending on if you had sinned in your human life or not..
so yes i believe in some cultures there is the aspect that you could be paying pennance for previous sins but it could also be that you cannot leave the world at the time of your death and are reincarnated as an animal or other being.
I definitely believe in reincarnation. As for the doggy thing........I can think of worse things to come back as lol
1) The Hindu text NightCreature refered to is The Bhagavad Gita . It is the most revered of the Hindu scriptures.
2) I am not quite sure that I believe in reincarnation, however....If it does happen I do not believe that the type of animal you return to the world as is based on some sort of need for punishment or pennance. I think that all the creatures of the Earth are equal in stature and that we are not greater or more importent because of our intellect or ability to manipulate our environment.
no u chang shape each life
first as man then wolf dog pup so on
I am a believer in reincarnation as a way of paying penance; however, I must say that coming back as a dog over and over wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing...especially if it were a house dog... lol

Very good point a house dog has it made if treated proper. Free food, shelter, love and care. I dont even have that as a human. lol. Now I wish I had been a dog this life. lol.
I don't see what being a dog would have to do with it. some dogs have better lives than humans.
blacklotus quoted it well...
I believe that if something is left undone or a wrong done..that those same souls come together in the next life to right the wrong/to balance the scales. I also believe that souls that mean so much to each other in one life will find each other in another.
As a firm believer in God, I do not believe in reincarnation, however it could be possible.
Where does it say that believing in God means that Reincarnation is not possible?
I believe that there is such a thing as reincarnation...I have my doubts about bad karma that will lead to you being reincarnated in a lower being... I know I read somewhere that there are souls that reincarnate only as humans, souls that come back only in animal shape and so on...
I guess that was a theory created by those who preffered to reincarnate in a miserable life as humans than in a great life as dogs (why do we keep reffering to dogs?)...
i think we are reincarnated as humans but no other animal
I believe in reincarnation, but i do not believe that we are reincarnated into dogs until we pay our dues. I think we can be reincarnated into anything. And we keep being reincarnated until we get it right.
I do believe in reincarnation, but i dont think so....
I do believe in reincarnation, but i don't believe that being reincarnate into a dog is a punishment... I don't think that human is a "higher level" of reincarnation than a dog or a spider, I find this a bit egocentric, if we look closer, all our emotions, our achievements, our evolution, its just bug fart for the universe...
I find the dog theory hilarious although I'm not sure I agree 100%. I do believe in reincarnation however, and I believe that if we don't pay for our evil deeds in this life we will in either the next or the afterlife.
thank you all for your view points so far , and the new directions to look into to further understand my feeling on this matter....as for the dog reference..i feel that my dog is more than aware of his life and the events that take place around him however he has little or no controll in any event..furthermore he is dependant upon me to feed him ,keep him clean, keep him warm , and to dole out any and all affection that he recieves..granted he gets better treatment than most..it still has to suck..even with the best treatment that i can give him and get for him he is still cursed to live only a fraction of my lifetime...i hope that adding this will help those reading this post to better understand my question..
I do believe that animals can reincarnate,
if they wish to.
Animals have innocents..so I doubt that they will ever hav-ta penance for anything.
Oh I don't think life span has any importance, Giant turtles can live 2x more long than us, and I'm not sure Turtles are happy little Buddhas with carapaces...
reply to PANZER what if that particular sin was so grevious that it took 200 years to repent for it...?? i dont believe in the churches version of pennance however i do believe in a cosmic right and wrong...
Ah, true... you got a point.
But why does being a turtle for the next 200 years actually can be called a punishment?
Once you survive their dangerous childhood, its a rather calm existence far from the typical human torments and angst...
Well I firmly try not to believe in it, although I guess a small part of me still does. I don't really think you would come back as an animal though. I don't know as punishment maybe some arrogant rich prick that lived the wrong way would come back as a very poor person. I don't see where that person would learn much if they came back as a dog. Most the dogs in my family have wonderful lives, so I wouldn't see switching places with them as a punishment! It would probably be a relief to not have all the daily stress, work, ect like humans do!
To answer Ahriman's question, I've always been taught that when we die our soul will go either to heaven or hell, and that we will not be reincarnated, since our souls will be at peace.
...or in a fire pit, wherever you may go when you die.
i tend to think people are reincarnated because they lived a good life or the fates deigned it that they should for whatever reason.
i dont think people really come back as animals though.
i don't really believe in reincarnation, i think that when you die its your time to relax.
I think that reincarnation is possible but coming back as a dog...I don't know?? I guess anythings possible. As long as I had a good owner I wouldn't mind to come back as a dog lol:)
Now that I've thought about it some more, I think it would be sort of a reward to come back as a house dog. My family treats their dogs better than they treat their family. Sounds like a great gig to me.
I believe in reincarnation..but I dont think who or what you're reincarnated as has any bearing on Karma or penance...
Well I am strong believer of Reincarnation and think as Cursedtodarkness think's...we have are choice what we come back as...
I do firmly believe that your spirit and your past choose your new form for you you may be a human many times until you learn to get it right and you can come back as an animal to help someone else in a future life all is dictated on what you have done and learned in your past lives as to what you will need to do in your next one.
I still can not see how coming back as any animal would be a punnishment their lives are so much easier than human life that I would welcome the reprieve..
I believe in reincarnation. I believe a human will come back as a human. Maybe someone who was evil in a former life will have a rougher time the next time around.
I do not rule out that a person could come back as an animal in another life. I just do not personally believe it happens. I do not think being an animal would be a punishment though. Animals do not have the same worries that humans do. Things are usually much easier and simpler for me.
I do know about the animal theory, but I do believe that vampire souls and human souls are immortal. In that we keep on coming back until we get it right, to right some wrong , etc.
i do belive in reincarnation...... before my grandfather died he stated he would like to come back as a bird..... he always sat in the recliner and watched out the window the birds eat from a feeder..... a year after he died we had a bird that would come back and peck at the window there by his recliner...... i always said grandpa got his wish.....now mind you i dont know if it was him or not but i did like to think so..... i dont know if comeing back as a animal you would remember or not your past life to fly in and say hi.....but i gues we really dont know......also i dont think think reiencarnation has a penance thing..... i think its about learning lessons and experiences in life.... now after we have learned everything there is to learn i dont know were we would go after that.........
I thoroughly believe in reincarnation.
“Yet, even those who believe in reincarnation admit that the vast majority of humans do not remember their previous lives. How can we learn from our past mistakes if we cannot remember them?” – BlackLotus quote, from some other P.H.D.
As in everything, training and searching for knowledge plays a big role. Vast majorities of people really don’t believe in, or haven't been educated in past life regression, astral projection, or other tools that allow insight into those realms of knowledge.
As far as being the mosquito… I really doubt that the complexity of our being could be caught up in a little shell like that. The implication just sounds really lacking to me. And even if coming back as a dog was a better life than we have now (HOW ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!), I still doubt the dog could contain what we are. What makes each individual a unique entity with a concept of life after death? I seriously doubt dogs ponder that, and maybe that would be the Hell in and of itself. No hope for something better, or some sort of continuance around the corner. Plus, its still Russian Roulette of the soul. The dog could get a horrible owner, or get killed by accident. I personally believe in a more solid flow to the process. How can anyone believe our creative minds, or passions and emotions could be felt as an animal? I’m not saying we’re necessarily better… I think we’re a bigger snowball. =)
Penance and punishment… I truly feel people are looking at it wrong. Our lesson (I think) is one of love, forgiveness, and knowledge. We can feel the heat of anger, the cold of depression, and betrayal. And those things radiate out, and affect others… maybe that’s karma. But it’s a ripple of those things outwards. Negative emotions and feelings that we all experience. The after.. Well, hopefully that is a place where we learn some deeper meaning to the “cosmic fart” that we are.
yes I do...but as far as penance goes I would think it would simply mean whether or not you would have a hard or easy life.
Reincarnation as legend has it can sometimes be the penance put upon someone by the gods, goddesses.when this happens, usually they,re destined to be with out something or someone,or cursed until they find them.which in turn set them free. And a new beginning.
I have to agree with Nocturnis Orchid on this one . Humans come back as humans, it's the only way the soul can accomplish what it couldn't do in the past lives.
i believe in reincarnation...but i am not sure if you would come back as a dog....
Hello,
I believe some what in reincarnation, but, yes, I think you can keep coming back until you pay penance...
I don't know about the animal thing but anything can happen lol
I am a big believer in reincarnation. I do believe we keep coming back to redo what we had already done if it was not done right. Some believe once u have paid pennance your spirit can finally rest.
its a form of reincarnation to have your body parts pressed into jemstones/diamonds for your loved ones to wear in jewelery is it not?
Yes,as a firm believer,i know of someone whom i am linked with and he is paying a pennance for his past, yes,it does carry over, and no,a dog or any other poor beast can not wash this away, people come back as people
hottubmolly- I think that having diamonds made of ashes is nowhere near reincarnation. This is because it isn't the body that is reincarnated, it is the soul. By making jewelry from a loved one, there is comfort in the knowledge that "they are always with them" because "diamonds are forever." I think that is just another scam from the jewelry companies, honestly.
As far as this whole penance thing goes, I do believe in that. I don't think the animal theory is quite on the mark, but I do believe that when one is reborn, they have multiple choices to make throughout life. With each choice, they either make due with their penance, or they dig themselves a deeper grave of penance. More than likely, I believe that you will keep getting reborn into new families and situations until you get it right. I don't mean perfect, but at least at work for the "greater good."

Reluctant Cries Fall sparked By Enduring constant Pain.
Being Able to relive, in a different body in the future would be nice and all. But any knowledge obtained in the last life wouldnt beable to be transferred.
i do believe in reincarnation but i do not believe you will come back in another life form other than human.
As was said earlier, None of us have enough recollection of our past lives to learn any lessons from them.
I believe in reincarnation to a certain degree, but I think it is cyclical, passing in and out of awareness as we are born, live, and die, and I do not believe it has anything to do with our sins, as good and evil are for the most part variable depending on one's morals.
I also have this other theory. The one goal of every living thing is to procreate, to carry on one's blood and DNA into the life of another. What if we are merely reincarnated into the nextborn generation of our own blood after we pass on? After all, it is, scientifically, the only part of our bodies that live on after we are gone.
i am not sure...a long time ago i read a story it...when you die, your soul walks through a rhododendron forest...if you are sidetracked or fall asleep, you will become an animal..if you make it all the way through, you will be human..
i believe in reincarnation, but i am not sure where the returning as a dog comes into the equation. I have never heard of the repeated lives of being a dog... plus I cannot believe that my cute adorable loving puppy is a human reject.
I most certainly believe in reincarnation. I do not believe that a human can be reincarnated into an animal, tho I know a few people who act like animals! lol Anyways, my belief is that if we do others wrong in a lifetime, we owe a karmic dept. So in our next lifetime we suffer, have terrible luck, unfortunate things happen to us which is supposed to teach us for our next lifetime. I believe in different levels of souls. For instance, baby soul, young soul, mature soul, old soul. This information can be found in a book called 'Messages from Michael" by Jess Stearn. It gets into it more, and can clarify things for you if you are interested in further researching in this particular belief!
I don't believe in re-incarnation nor to a believe death is the end...
I do believe reincarnation is very possible, a recycle of energy in one way or another.
reincarnation could be out there because your energy probly becomes parts of other asspects after you die because you bcome part of the earth which everyone and everything uses...
Nah, reincarnation is for the living...if we truely aspire to be the undead (or some semblance of undead) then how can you get reincarnated?
