I am interested in knowing if any of you feel any connection with particular gods/goddesses (yes this includes the Christian god) and incorporates them into your daily life. How did you find out you identified with or wanted to worship a particular god/dess? If you worship an ancient god/dess, do you find it difficult to incorporate them into the modern world? Any input at all would be most appreciated.

This a good post, I am an aetheist, so I don't believe in any particular god/goddess. I do however believe in the mother earth and in the natural things in the world.

I do feel a strong connection with God. I am a Chrsitian but I think the term God is represintative of nearly all "supreme beings" ...whats in a name right?

I also try an maintain my Celtic roots and surround myself with Celtic and Druidic symbolism.

I always incorporate my Goddesses into my daily life. In different ways of course. I believe in Morrgan who is a moon goddess and I pray to her at night and when I can see the moon I look at her and smile and I talk to her. I talk to Isis all the time. She more or a mentor and best friend. I always talk to Giai especially when I see dead deer on the road (which they seem to be everywhere!) and I also tend to talk to the trees and I hug them sometimes. I don't know people call me weird but I like to stay intune with my beliefs.

I think there are lots of ways people incorperate God/Gods into their daily lives.

From giving a hug to someone who feels down to making time for daily prayer etc

I like the goddess stories, and all mythology, but more to possess and practice the attributes (not the fickle aspects, no not me, ever) in my daily life.

not much of a prayer or a beseecher. like the sacriligeous more than the religious.

I pray to a Divine which encompasses all aspects of male God and Female Goddess.
I am more Nature based as well.
So all that I do in my daily life touches on the thread that connects all things.

I do pray to the Great Spirit (Wakan) everyday. I ask for his strength and wisdom among other things. I wear a necklace that signifies the circle of life and I use this along with smudging the smoke from grey sage almost everyday. I always have the necklace I wear it all the time. I pray at least once a day (usually in the morning when the sun is rising) and I smudge with sage almost everyday.

For me, not really.

The only times that I reflect on my connection to the creative spirits is when I am alone in the woods or mountains, driving on a long trip, or doing some yard work where I am able to comtemplate/meditate.

No prayers or giving of thanks. I am too busy living the life that was given to me. Living is what the creative energies want from us.

I have a very strong connection with Nyx. I try to incorporate her into my daily life as much as possible, both with prayers and little devotions throughout the day. Unfortunately, due to my living situation at the moment I can't do much more than that. I'm hoping that once I move into my own place I will be able to do even more.

I incorporate Vesta in my life when I'm cooking or cleaning, but different aspects of myself identify more closely with the Morrigu, and with Stribog, and Perun (who is a close analogue to Odhinn), and with Frigga...

And I often ask Hermes to help with bus connections, or the modern goddess of parking places. Squat, for a good spot near the store.

If I'm working on a healing, I often ask Apollo for help.

Anytime I see the moon, I greet the Lady, and I greet the Lord when I see wildlife (I live in a first-ring suburb--there isn't much for large game so I say hi when I see it).

The Orisha Eshu lives in a pot behind my door, and I have other magickal artwork and a printed copy of the full Rede as well as several inspirational pieces on my walls.

I burn candles or incense almost every day, and my house shields are grounded with appropriate stones at each quarter as well as a center stone which is used as a storage device for excess energy.

Because of all this, my apartment feels very calming and peaceful when I walk in, and others are comfortable within my sanctuary as well, to the extent that they remark on how peaceful it is.

I personally worship the Goddess Isis. I have no difficulty in incorporating her into the modern world, for she has moved and grown with the changes long before the ancient egyptians first began to worship her.

I pray to her daily for protection, healing, guidance etc. Not just for myself but also for my loved ones. I use candles, incense and a specially created alter that I set up in her honour.

As I am a healer I connect to her strongly and find meditating on her daily helps me to connect to my femininity on a rather deep level. She helps me to find myself and understand where I come from as a person.

You make a great point my lovely coven sister. I myself identify with Christianity but do not limit myself to it. To keep God in my daily life I wear my cross, keep a rosary with me at all times and say daily prayers.

I also believe in Mother Earth. I thank her daily for the gifts she gives through nature. I guess you could say I worship her like the Native Americans did. I do not use anymore of nature then I should, and when I take from nature I do not waste of it.

Well, one of My Favorite Gods is the God of All Gods, God Zeus Him Self.

I worship Zeus daily by respecting the nature, and leading a righteous life, causing no harm to the living surroundings around me.

As well, I enjoy reading all Greek miths regarding Zeus, to me, a very powerfull God, and that is a form of worship in my opinnion as well.

I have a strange connection to the
whole world around me. I am not
atheist, but I get accused of it quite
often because I don't believe in any
one true form of religion.

Oddly, if you look closely w/an open mind
all religions are the same. They have
different names or focus on different
aspects, but all have parts of the same
if you don't concentrate on details and
just look at the overall concepts. I think
all of them have good points and bad...

My beliefs are an eclectic blending of all.
I have always thought that the Native
American beliefs mimiced Christianity, so
I broaded my information to include other
religions and found they all had common
ground between them. Why then do the
different religions war w/one another?

I start the day with devotion that invokes deity and petitions them to work with me throughout the day. I practice being aware of their prescience and relating what I am doing to a specific god whose characteristics are compatible with the task at hand. Sometimes I talk to them. Sometimes I light a candle or make an offering or burn incense to honor a specific deity if the mood strikes me or if I am needing help with something or if they have helped me. In difficult situations I’ll invoke a deity for assistance.

I incorporate the Divine into my life very much. I pray to the Source through different facets through goddesses and gods known in mythology. The selection of the facet to address depends upon the purpose of the prayer or more formally the spell. I most commonly address Kali who I feel the greatest connection. She is the one I pray to for normal life issues such as for strength to accomplish a task during the day, comfort from the Mother Goddess, or more formally in ritual work to see through the mystery of life and its illusions, Maya. For help in developing wisdom I would address Athena.

I have always identified myself as a Christian when asked my religion, however I do not feel I could put any sort of name on who/what I feel a connection to and identify with on a personal level.
If that makes any sort of sense.
As to why...well I'm spiritually connected to something greater than myself, regardless of religion. I feel that I could switch religions and still feel connected to that same entity.
I'm not entirely sure I make sense, but I think I answered the questions.

This is indeed a good post. I identify with the Goddes Bast and her son Maahes, from the ancient Egyptian times. It's not really that difficult to find ways to use them in everyday life, when I'm at home.
At the Catholic University, however, it becomes increasingly difficult unless you go into the woods on campus.

I believe in the bare minimum with Christianity to get to heaven. Don't get me wrong, I really do believe it. I don't try to fake it..

I just don't believe that all of God's laws are really that necessary.

But since I was brought up as Christian, I somehow do hold the basic beliefs. Go fig,

but I don't go by any of God's laws that aren't natural to me.

I feel that there is a being or power that is responible for all of this existance that we have and see, and all of the stuff beyond in the visible universe.

I also feel that there are also other powers or entities at work and play as well (mother nature, brother and sister winds).

The religious application is the human element, which I don't follow, but I understand the need to justify the greatness of life and creation that we experience.

I pray only to the abstract immortal god, the source of all the perfection and harmony.
My conscience is my rational link with it in society.
I recognized it`s presence for the first time by the way of the extatic state of mind during a holy day.My sentiments, will and reason are aware of it, not just the mind.
I like to imagine it like a fiery sphere.

I love the legends and myths from many religions and beliefs and they are also present in my inner world.

Great thread! It reminds us of our sacred part of our being!

I follow Gaia more than anything and I worship daily by simply sitting outdoors walking barefoot on the grass or gardening with bare hands. Anything to connect to her personally and absorb or ground my energies.

I also do rituals, and prayers to her.

I also will connect to other deities who can help me with a certain situation.

I am a follower of Isis & Anubis. They are my chosen god and goddess. I have an alter set up in their honour to which I pray, and perform daily rituals before. I use the alter to mediate and connect with Isis & Anubis.

Also I will call upon other gods and goddesses to help me with a specific problem. :o)

God/Goddess who cares what you call them all that matters is respect to the higher plane and love and respect to others here. So spread the patience and hugs to all.

I have no names, no set religions, as they are all either borrowed or stolen in one form or another from each other. I am a universalist, which means, I am guided by the universal right to believe what I wish when I wish. I am no zionist who loves to plague society with over zelious fazes. Universal energies are just that. I do not need a deity to tell me this. Nor a feeling to believe in any certain deity as they are all manifestations of the universe. Nuff said.

I am currently performing in Mary Zimmerman's METAMORPHOSES which is a reworking of Ovid's poem. It includes 10 Greek myths and is done in a pool of water as a symbol of change. Having done this show, it is has made me closer to the gods for I feel their energy flowing through me every night as we weave our tales. I had as my patron goddess Rhiannon but now I feel a closeness to Ceres.

I consider myself Christian, but I think God is a lot more than can be fit into that small box, so I remain open to a lot of other things.

Basically I give thanks throughout the day and that makes me feel connected and blessed.

My people (Maori of New Zealand) have many Gods and Goddesses and though people have turned to Christian teachings, they still respect our Maori Higher ups eg...The God of the sea Tangaroa is always respected by fishermen, who throw the first fish caught of the day back into the ocean to thank Tangaroa for his gifts...and Tane, The God of the Forest is paid respect to by at fisrt asking him for the gift of one of his children before a tree is cut down...things like that are still done to this day, no matter what religion one happens to be

I am a believer of God and Jesus Christ. I incorporate as much as I can...all I can do is have my faith. I pray, I'd go to church if there was a Catholic church near me there are things these days that are okay in the eyes of society and are more difficult to avoid. Like sex before marriage, or divorce...

Things that were once looked down upon are now normal everyday things. All you can do is try to be strong and follow what your beliefs entail.

I find a connection to the norse God Tyr , God of courage . In many of the old viking myths he stood up to things he should not have knowing what the outcome would be . Yet he always had the strengeth to stand up for what he knew had to be done .

I have only three goddesses I believ in, and they are all in daily life. I have made a religion that suits me... My godess of luv, and life, and Happiness who rules over Shiton, is named Jessica. I pray to her before bed, and Lucy, godess of anger hate and jealousy who rules over the nine hells. I pray to her, only when I am angry or jealous. And last but not least, there is Sera, the guide, thats guides souls of the dead or dieing to the nine hells or Shiton, depending on the soul.

Glad you asked.
My Goddess is Sri Radha Govinda. She is the female personafacation of the male aspect of God. I walk with my Radhae always. She is always in my thoughts for I am a surrendered soul under to her. She healed me after a great accident by her loving grace and compassion. I will always be of Radharani eternally. She is also known as the Goddess of prosperity and now since being received by Her am over-whelmed with wealth and riches beyond any dreams I ever had.

Sri Sri Mata Radika

I am a buddhist, so we have no 'god' to speak of. However I am often inspired by the buddhas and bodhisattvas within my religion and strive to be more like them.

I feel a connection with Anubis, Isis, Ma'at, and Set. I've always been interested in Egyptian mythology. Meeting teachers of the pagan path helped me incorporate the Egyptian Gods in my life. I pray to them for protection, prosperity, etc. I try to meditate on them as much as I can.
