If given the choice, would you become a vampire? Would you take immortality in exchange for having to find and drink someone's blood every week?
Why? Why not?
Deep reasons appreciated. Not "I'd do it cause I am bored".
I would never. What if humans and then all life forms were to go instinct? I mean, being immortal means forever. Would I take that chance? And what would happen to me? Would I turn into some crazy bat? (Daybreakers movie)
Too much risk. Too little reward. Immortality? Meh. Not with these kind of side effects.
I would. Even if vampires aren't as romanticized as most believe. The taking of blood is just like humans eating cheese, whales eating krill, or bears eating berries. It's survival. One organism gaining energy from another. Immortality can be lonely, but imagine the benefits of longevity. The breakthroughs of science that could have been made if G. Bell were still alive, or the musical masterpieces that could have been written by Bach. Yes there are cons, but the pros can benefit all of society. That is the attraction to me. Thats all the reason I need.
Depends. What kind of vampire are we referring to? RL ones or fiction vampires?
RL ones aren't immortal so we can toss that out since it's more of a soul thing unless i'm wrong. Never met one like that as of yet.
Fictional wise, to be stronger, faster, immune to things, sight and hearing improvement, age longevity etc...who wouldn't want those things? But to rely on source of blood all the time, feeding on humanity or some substance close to it, would be a pain in the ass i imagine.
But see, the vampyres got smart and made squealy teenage girls fantasize about prettyboy vampyres with fangs, climbing in THEIR windows instead and harrassing THEM to become their food.
What a switcharoonie that is huh? LOL
I wouldn't. Immortality in the greatest sense, sense of the soul, is mine already. I want to die again and be where I belong; I've ascended every sphere in this tragic life. I want my treacherous body gone to be my immortal and lovely spirit, to glide among the stars.
Only those that haven't lived a life will choose immortality. Those ignorant souls that have nowhere to go after death.
didn't get a choice I was born this way. sometimes i do think i wouldnt wish it on anyone but others its a great thing.
I didn't have a choice either.
I was 'forced' into turning VERY slowly.
painfull.
BUT,
if i was to go back in time or it never happened..
and i had a choice ..
I would before a full psi vamp. to an elder one
that would teach me everything.
You don't need to be a vampire to be immortal, there are otherwise to get it which includes death.
"I would never. What if humans and then all life forms were to go instinct? I mean, being immortal means forever. Would I take that chance? And what would happen to me? Would I turn into some crazy bat? (Daybreakers movie)
Too much risk. Too little reward. Immortality? Meh. Not with these kind of side effects."
A dishonest answer, I know human nature all too well and I know the majority here would take it if they have a chance.
The whole "I hate being a vampire/ I don't want to live forever" is the very common "angst broody personality" cliche or at least their attempt to avoid being a fanatic of vampirism. There would be some who does not desire to be immortal but on a site like this, they would likey be the minority.
Humans would not go extinct because first and foremost they are a bunch of horny dogs who breed like rabbits, the world is actually over-populated. More death needs to happen.
Daybreakers is a movie i.e fiction so like the others so the rules in that film should not apply to your question even if its what you were thinking when asking said question. Saying that though, none of the other rules of other movies should apply. For example, sunlight does not kill vampires, Nosferatu started that trend.
Feeding would be daily not weekly and if the bite is viral then killing the prey is a way to make sure vampirism does not spread and thus no world like daybreakers would happen. Also if all non-vampire life does indeed dies out, vampires could feed on other vampires. blood is the food and it would still flow through the veins of a vampire like another other creature.
iwould love to be a vampire, i love vampires i think their sexy, and i love biteing and be bitten, and ive always been intrested in vampires
I am a vampire, I was born with it, it comes with certain creature comforts and things you learn to enjoy so I wouldn't give it up even though it's not always pleasant
I'd do it in a second. The older you get, the faster the time fly's by. My kids are grown up. I'm getting old, and I don't want to die. So, yep, without hesitation.
As a real vampyre this something I was born into. I don't mind it. *shrugs* we are not immortal in the sence of our body but my soul is. Though not quite as cool.
Should I have the chance to become a fictional vampyre. The answer is yes. I would take the pain, or the consequences no matter what. The idea of being immortal, strong, fast, immune. All of these things are things I long for and always have. The first time I knew I wanted to become a vampyre was when I was five. And no I had not even seen Dracula. Later I got half of my wish when I was awakened rather young as a hybrid.
And humanity is filthy. They kill and destroy for their own pleasure and greed.
I don't know as I would think about it as far as immortality. I haven't read a story or watched a movie where the vampires were truly immortal. If they followed A, B, C and D then they could live on a very long time. In the end though, there was always a way to kill them so that is not immortality to me but a very long life if nothing unforeseen happens to them. This is why often writers will have them pursue someone as a companion. Every author has a different idea on it. It seems like a very lonely life and I don't know as I believe in a soul or anything not having one and walking around feeding on people without restraints. I tend toward agnostic on it. If given the opportunity I would probably like anyone else opt to try for immortality rather than die but I wouldn't want to have that chance at an old age unless one could regenerate to a younger age. I have only seen the idea of a vampire regenerating and looking different in one series of movies but of course I haven't seen or read everything there is in fiction about vampires. So depending on the circumstances I might give it a go. As far as those that call themselves "real" vampires most believe one is born that way and cannot be turned. They laugh at people who say they have been turned and they don't believe real vampires are immortal. So from that perspective there would be no choices.
I would not mind immortality. I spend much of my time alone now. It would be a benefit to not age, or age much slower, to read every book you ever wanted, to have the time to learn any skill you wanted. To see what effect "unlimited time" would truly have on humanity and its development.
The set back that most would fear isn't the feeding, its more the fear of loved ones and people you know around you dying as you keep going on. After all everyone cant be turned, you have to have the food too (or it does end up daybreakers...lol) .
i think more then likely the world would crash if the choice was given, because where as most normal people may not want to live forever, the criminals, and trouble makers, and killers would want to.
there are vampires and vampires.
i consider myself to be one now, altho not in the way movies portray it.
would i wish myself to become a being like lestat or dracula?
absolutely.
i doubt anyone would live forever...because what is forever? eventually most would get bored and go out for a deep tan. for me tho, there is music to write, musical instruments to learn, languages to learn, books to read...one life time doesnt begin to be enough!
~W
would have to say no as everyone I love would not be here not even their grandchildren or great children but be able to live for a century or two wouldn't mind watching over those I love and theirs
Given that actual vampires aren't immortal but merely have to have energy in one way or another..I would say no. Only because it would mean I would have to tap into that persons energy to get what I need. I don't like doing that even though I'm not a vampire.
As for the mythological views on vampires I would still have to say no.
hmm interesting point i would but it would be lonely so in that case i would say no because i would lose those i care about
queenofthedamned2, love your post. but, i am not agreeing with you about the sexy part. Vampires are sanguinary creatures who need blood to survive. meaning, killing. So, yes, immortality will be the best thing that can happen to a human. to be alive forever, hunting those pesky humans for the liquid that run through their vein: Priceless. Vampires will always rock!!!!
No I wouldn't because of AIDS...no way..not into drinking no ones blood unless it's my own...
I would have to say I wouldnt become a vampire willingly, I dont want to live forever, and a true vampire is a savage beast, a hunter full of hunger for human blood. I wouldn't be who I am any more just a savage beast.

If a being a vampire gains immortality then you wouldn't have to worry about drinking blood from people with disorders.
It would have to go more in depth with the rules. I'd take the chance because time goes by so fast. Would give me more time to study interests. Imagine how smart people would be if they didn't die so fast? All the time in the world. The power to help people, even if you drink a few.
I'd do it, but only fictional. Not the pseudo cult like people of today.
i'm not so sure. living forever and watching all your loved ones drop like flies seems horrifying to me, but I do like the idea of living forever, to have superhuman qualities, whether or not I would be a twilight vampire, or Dracula, or an underworld vampire. the whole blood thing I could get use to. no different from humans feeding on animals.
but what is forever? i think forever is only until you decide to go out into the sun....
our friends and families die while we live anyway (unless you die very young). you just live longer as a vamp. also if as a movie forbidden vamp, you have the extra powers and strength....and perhaps you can find one (or more) that you love...and bring them across.

Well since we're talking fiction, sure, I'd do it... because in my story I'd find other options. I eat animals now to survive so I could drink animal blood- and in my 'story' it would be no sacrifice, as in, make me feel 'less than' if I was drinking human blood. And for every other drawback raised in this thread I would author it invalid as well :)
Besides, if 'life' became extinct and then I died eventually after hundreds of years or more.... I think I got my immortality's worth anyway.
in response to what "lord wolf said" (cool name btw) I get that forever could be until you bring yourself to end your.. immortal life, but I think if I was a vampire, and still the same person, knowing how easily I become afraid I would stay in caves during the day just to be safe. also, I don't think I could bring myself to turn someone I loved dearly. that's damning them, taking away their soul. I wouldn't do that. although if I had just randomly turned a human and came to love them that would be different, no attachments to them before hand :P
In my own thoughts and mind yes i would love to achieve immortality and not have to worry about ever aging i wouldnt care what the world threw at me or how it viewed me i would go on as i am now. The only downfall is that sunlight would no longer be good unless of course i was still half human then i could still walk in direct sunlight and not have to worry burning up and no sparkling vamps can stay in twilight where they belong cause anyone that knows about vampires knows they dont really sparkle that is the dumbest fictation of vampires ever
Why does everyone have to think that becoming a vampyre is damnation? (yes I realize not EVERYONE believes this, but a good bit) think of the possibilities! And even if the sun was a problem who cares! You can still do what you want with the night life.
And I do agree that sparkling in the sun is stupid.
it would be interesting to become one but i know if i could become one there are pros and cons to become one .but i would like to be one so i can live forever and i would make my friend a vampire to if i was a vampire.
In the end some people are cut for it others are not for whatever reason I think we can all agree that at some point we have all fantasized, or at least thought about what it would be like.
the question is interesting. for me if there was no chance of humanity being extinct I might venture it. Also consider this. Since the survival of humanity would work in the favour of myself and other immortals, believe me, we'd use our powers in a concerted effort, to ensure their survival by any means unnecessary.
"but what is forever? i think forever is only until you decide to go out into the sun....

Sunlight has no effect on vampires (folklore, nosferatu movie started the sun issue) other than it is their nap time, who cares if family and friends die, they should only be kept around if they are still useful and besides, they could die anyway by accident or otherwise.
I see no reason why anyone would turn down the chance to become a fiction type of vampires, too many perks. Even the ones here who are saying no would likely say yes if it was truly offered to them. Of course it would be better if they didn't because there is too many people on this planet as it is.
I see a lot of.. "I am a vampire"
Well okay, what can you do that a excelled humans can't?
I bet you can't come up with anything.
no because this life long enough already as a human...i will wait for eternal life in much better conditions then this world has to offer
Why would I want to wonder the hell for all eternity with the risk of damning my eternal soul? We all like the idea of eternity, but do we truly konw what it is? What is on the other side? Eternity is on the other side. I want out of this hell as soon as I am finished.
It depends which kind of fictional vampire. Most traits are the same, but every book, movie and serie have something different in order to make their vampire ''unique.''
There are a few vampires which didn't burn under the sun. That'd be awesome for me 'cause I like the sun.
I like the idea of immortality. Finally not aging n getting sick anymore and every vampire has a weak point. So if I ever want to end my life I'd find a solution.
However if I can live normally I'd have to work all eternity to be financially safe, (and buy the stuff I want and still do the things I like) but with immortality I can learn n do various jobs and if I have powers like in some fiction I can use those to persuade humans and be accepted to the jobs I like. It'd also give me the chance to finally travel and visit all the places I want, but never do, due to lack of money and time.
So I think I'd accept it.
yes i wood but i wood like to live for 300 years then die
I would, for the simple fact that I'd love to be a witness to history.
The downer is that my loved ones would be long gone, and that vampire lonliness thing isn't for me.
My response to this thread was kind of intense, so I just posted it to my journal. If you're inclined to see what I said about this, look for the post called "Who Wants To Live Forever?"
Great journal entry, BaronessGreycastle.
We experience enough loss in our lifetimes. Vampires are immortal, but not indestructible. So they can and do die. So yes I would definitely become a vampire.
To consume all that life has to offer is our nature and living life eternally is our curse. The choice has already been made for each of us many years hence.

No. Nothing in the universe is made to last forever. Everything that has a beginning must eventually come to an end. I have never viewed immortality as something that I desired. It's not even the fact that you ultimately become a parasite, living off the blood of another to survive, it's more that unbearable loneliness that would come from it. You stay the same while everything around you changes, while everyone you get close to falls prey to the normal course of time.
That hardly seems like a blessing, more like a curse. So no. I would never take anyone up on the offer of becoming a vampire and thus, gaining immortality.
No I would not. I would not want to live without my family.
There are a lot of interesting posts to this thread. Seeing what others have posted has been entertaining.
Personally, I would not want to spend another lifetime trapped in a mortal body. So if I were to have to go through another shell I would want it to be more adept to my spiritual self. We are all monsters in one way or another. Why not enjoy myself.
In reality?
Put me back into my real form.
Thank you. In truth we all do have our dark sides and if you believe like I do that we will just come back again, why start from scratch? No thank you I have other thing I wish to do.
I most certainly would. It isn't the immortality that excites me though. It's the thought of secretly having a so called upper hand on the human race to do with what I please.
I agree :)
I would love to have the upper hand over mankind, its a plus to live forever.
However there's a down sider to. All that
The mind does grow tier, sometimes mad
Hell yeah. I am already dead inside so why not.and if you're afraid of hurting people juzt eat animals. Its not that complecated
Nope. Not me. Already have immortality. Rather play with the angels anyways.
To say i would become something i like, A vampire is alright but still if you are in a position of being harmed by some one that turned into one and you do not want to be a human "without" them than i think it is fair enough to put your life in someone's hands.
But if it is by a person that you have pure hatrad for than i won't on my dead body. Infect i would grab a hammer and beat his/her skull in before being something from that person. So, that is what i think to where you will be a human or a vampire on your own actions and free will.
In a way i would be a vampire and stay alive to meet people that are from the future that have a bad life or that wish to be something else in this world.

That is just my saying, If no one like's it then please do not mind reading it at all.~
I would rather be a Genie. sure I would have to wait in a bottle until someone freed me, and then I would have to serve their wishes, but I could also be a temperamental genie, and apply the old adage "Be careful what you wish for."
I was born this way. The abilities are nice. But there are certain things that I could live without. I noticed that the ones that do have it, do not want it. And the ones that do not have it, want it.
"However there's a down sider to. All that
The mind does grow tier, sometimes mad"
Boredom can be a side effect of immortality yes, especially if you find yourself no longer interested in the world, and madness can set in afterwards. Of course there are ways to get around boredom such as finding an anchor or a reason to keep going, trying as many new things as possible, personally I would say do some wanton destruction, what is more fun than playing cat and mouse games with the world or a town? not much.
or you can find some kind of entertainment system like games or movies. for me it is games.
Loving this thread " I am already immortal" Oh really?
Soooo...in 2000 million years when the Sun SupaNovas, turns into a Giant Red, you are going to swan around in a million degrees of Hydrogen with no friends or tactile matter, just bored out of your brain in the ultra hot ether, year after year...
Slowly losing your mind....erm surely , that is "Hell dummy"
Not withstanding the inevitable meteor strike that will leave you wandering a desolate Magma planet in 235 million years time.
Or the Quasar, that strips the planet of air and life, the list is endless.
Even in this life, living longer is tough, most I know take stupid risks with alcohol and cigarettes?
So what then? the real trick is to move to a different plane of existence, study existentialism. But be warned, its interesting but no Earth, I love Earth, it is a great place with solid rules, those other realms, they have wierd rules.
It depends on what type of vampire you are talking about...like the ones in movies or in folk lore then hell No. I dont want to live in this body for hundreds of years and watch this world decay. I like aging with my love ones and when i pass on it only means a new journey is just ahead.
I am a living vampire and yes i look forward to my next journey.
i would never even want to be one . i have my ever after and to choose vampire would mean to put an end to what all i believe in . this body of mine is week so why would i want it. when i can have something all powerfull and am glad that i dont even have to worrie about controling it becasue its a gift and one i would never turn from . i have a eternal friend one much more powerful then a vampire and he has concord death . Death has no power or place in me. only a steping out from time and space . for once the end of this body happens then time and space will melt away and have very little meaning to me. Once i leave this world i will need no other energy but that, witch comes from my dear friend and brother. thats right you heard me say it i can call Him the great i am . my brother. for it was he who once in time called us all that and we put Him on a tree and called Him a lier. We only believe what we can see well i am starting to see things that no human has ever seen . The fire that burns within me is that of pure delight . and i welcome it to show me the way.
I became a vampire out of a choice to live. I wasn't turned by blood more like energy wise and soul wise.
I not sure how; yet somehow there are different ways to turn someone without doing blood.
I became who I am in order to live and heal. I don't drink blood; I am more of an sexual energy type. Blood to me is enhancing love energy from someone who sees things negative and show them by absorbing on their negative to show them positive love energy.
I am a vampire, can feel it burning inside my heart.
You don't have be turned vampire to be vampire, you just have feel it, and most of all believe it, that you are a queen or a king of the shadow world.
I wouldn't. Immortality seems appealing for a little while but then its really just solitude. I wouldn't want to watch the ones I love die and I carry on living...I rather live life, have children, watch them grow, and when my time comes...it comes.
i agree but most who are vampires dont believe they live at all but are a form of life . and they dont take life like most would think . to me blood not only is that witch gives life it is life . if you lose all your blood do you not die . blood does have power over life and death and it can also give life but not that of a human knows . for only known by angels and thos of after life. for i believe to be imortal is only to believe one lives on . even if it is not seen by thos around you . you do live on forever all do but why would you want to live on if all that you believed in when you were here you found to be a lie . i believe that when you leave this world you dont want to come back you move on not by choose but becasue all is known to you and why would you care to stay when you know all there is to know about this world and its lies . but here is the thing if you did not choose what is right before you left this world how could you go to a place you did not even believe in before you die . put it this way to become a vampire even if did mean a life forever till some one took your head off then what . you die for good . but if you believe as i do they some one does that to you and you just move on to a better place and one with no pain or any of the things you have here but much better ways and things to come. then why would i want to be a vampire ? So the question is not would you be a vampire but what would you be if you were not a vampire ?
If I did take on immortality, I'd have to be committed to travel especially every five years, where age differences would be noted, and my lack of ageing would serve to make me appear suspicious to others.
i see it time and time again and have heard no such thing as a ageless vampire i dont believe it . i know 5 on here who tell me with all there heart that the are vampire and then do not clam to live for ever in fact they get sick just like humans do. i once saw on the news that a vampire even came out and said he wanted to be a state governor . but did not make it because he was a sage blood drinker and i only took from thos who gave themself to him but still people did not believe him they moked him they kicked him and he and his family had to move. so this is just one more reson why i would not care to be a vampire. does not mean i do find them a bit intresting just its not for me.
All this stuff wanting to be a vampire has become bored. People say it like out of their mouth but they don't know what they are actually talking about. It's like throwing the word love or hate around just because they can and I think that's why people say or start off "I am a vampire.." It's like.. okay this is the internet are you going to believe other people that say what they are? But in the end they just want to believe that their own self is one so they think "Oh hey, there's a site about Vampires" I do not claim I am a vampire. I am the type to wanting to know about them than I already know. Because there is people out there that know a lot and I am curious. And I am not going to lie saying that I don't believe in vampires. Because I do. I strongly do but I do not think they would come straight forward. Or be like this, finding a website for vampires. Because that just doesn't make any sense. But if I was to choose it. I wouldn't do it. I couldn't hurt anyone cause that's the way I am.
I would enjoy being a vampire, but not for the general movie reasons most people put forth. I think that as a vampire, it would free me to be able to enjoy life and the world as we know it, without the fetters of having to deal with the day to day mundane trials of actually living in this world. I guess what I am saying is that it would give me a new perspective, without having to side track myself with jobs and bills and the like.
No, I wouldn't want to be a vampire. I want this over with so I can do it again.
well put night666 that is you almost took the words right out of my mouth. but i do think there are some that are prode that they are vampires just they know that they dont change others and that is no one can change you into something you dont want to be. you have to want to be it.
I hate feeling drained, love the feeling of having a "full tank." So far as immortality is concerned it's a matter of identification. If one identifies as a mortal trying to "become" immortal that one is fighting a losing battle from the start.Striving but never arriving, becoming but never being.Immortality has nothing to do with longevity, nothing to do with time nor space.I am not one who is immortal for I am Immortality Itself here and now.The life that is in the blood is my very identity.Eternal life is who and what I am but to answer your question.yes of course!
certainly. i dont believe true "immortality" is possible , but an indefinably extended life is something i would crave. since i rather like blood i wouldnt have an issue with that (assuming im also immune to disease). im also making the assumption i dont need to kill someone to feed....altho if i had to drain someone every night, im sure i could find individuals doing bad things in the city that i could satisfy myself without feeling any remorse at all.
~W~
Well said CryptInTheNight666. Lots of people here want to say they are vampires well let them live in the fantasy world they have made for themselves. Wake up you are not immortal you have not nor will you live 600 years
actually (and this is totally aside from vampiric discussion) we all may have a chance of living past 600....alot of medical doctors believe that this generation can potentially have an extremely extended life span.
~W~
I would want to become one and then turn my S/O into one so we could be together forever. I could have all the time in the world to achieve my dreams and see the world. As long as someone I love is with me I could stand eternity :)
i would become one because i would have a longer life and i would have alot of advantages that a vampire would have that a human doesnt have.
as far as death goes , i dont believe it can bother me one bit . i will go on for ever long after this earth is gone. i believe we are almost there as far as meds and dna goes they can do a lot with human dna , the thing is should we play God . I believe we were made in His image so we do live on forever not in the form we are now but in a soul form . We are very lucky tho we are not angels or demons or such for tho thos ideas can only happen with air and blood what if there is no blood . In my true form i have no need for blood. Nor can anything or anyone hurt or touch me . I will not lose site that i am not a god nor would i want to be one of any form.
i would for the reason to fight and destroy injustice so i would be like blade
No, and I wouldn't hesitate to say no. Immortality would be awful. I don't like this world as it is, I don't like the people in it and I surely wouldn't want to watch it deteriorate. I also believe in an afterlife, and I believe with all my heart that I'm going to heaven; I wouldn't want to miss out on that.
Yes, I would for a few reasons. One is because death has always been a fear of mine. So it would help ease that fear. The second would would be because I want to see the world evolve and what happens. Everyday would fascinate me in a new way.
I would only hope there would be a way to end it if the time came as to when I wanted to do so.
i would become one because to me i might as well already enjoy it bc i already sleep during the day and stay up all night plus i already love the taste of blood.. so i say bring on the night and lets live immortally
Yup i wud love to become a vampire, cos they are awesome, can move at super speed, can hear things from far away, and have the option to switch off or on their humanity too. And can choose which blood to drink, like wether its animal blood or human blood or from a bloodbag! :) and also they dont age!
I would say absolutely. I know what I would be getting my self into and to me immortality will be the release I need. I feel so pressed on time, always slipping through my fingers.
I am a living vampyre, aging, growing, changing. I would not hesitate. I'd take the risks the pain. Anything.
Some people are cut for it, others not as much.
Also I like that.
Anata wa kawaii desu ka?
No I would never choose to become a Vampire.
Why would I want to be immortal and watch all my loved ones around me die and leave? Why would I want to make new friends all the time just to not be alone?
That's pretty stupid.
Whether your immortal or not you still must face these same issues , death is ,after all , part of life and we watch it happen everyday to pets , loved ones and friends.
To have immortality would mean to have to witness this lifetime after life time, some , most rather, would not have the constitution for it and unless your willing to numb yourself to the fact , it would make you crazy.
Next , what does immortality mean? A longer existence ? Decades, centuries or perhaps longer ? Then would this be true immortality ? To me immortality means not having an expiration date, even the universe has that.
Would one end up bored with life after a time? Some clearly would , others would not. Then how long would that last. Even if one transcends in spirit , what is next and to what end?
In the spirit of this post , I see great possibilities for the chance. ( in the fictional character sense). However, in the case of Dorian Grey, he had it much easier than would a vampire.
death has got to go . and will in the end of thing because in all things must have a end and death ended for me over 2000 years ago . i don't mean in this body for we are but dust . and to dust we will go but we are also much more then dust for some say they dream when they are dead but this is impossible for in death is brain dead and you cant dream only feel and know what you feel after death so if you did die and came back and did see something like a lot of somethings then it has to be true . and if you lie about it you only lie to yourself not others for it only hurts you in the long run for i believe all good or bad in the end will be judged fair and right for what we do. but if you believe there is a cover for you well then why not take that cover over others beliefs . i believe a lot of people who believe they are vampires do this and so do a lot of Christians . is one better then the other is one more right then the other i cant say for that would be me being a judge and that i am not.
I'd rather be human and live my life out and be remembered for something special than live forever, witness everything throughout history and never be remembered at all.
With how disillusioned and disappointed I am of life and people right now, the while world in general, yes I would do it...
It is power.
I don't think I would become a vampire. Due to my own personal preference of self-reliance! I don't want to become predatory nor have to feed on someone for my self-sustenance. And, if your a follow of occult or metaphysical knowledge, all the abilities attributed to vampires can be obtained as a human.
it depends - what's the pay like? seriously, it is something i have thought about in my stories. dead people do not own property, dont have national insurance numbers, dont have bank accounts. if you are officially dead, you do not have an official existence, so "life" as an undead would be extremely difficult.
Without a second thought. To live forever, to have no issues that are that pressing that they need to be done this very minute...there will ALWAYS be a tomorrow, to experience history and not just read about it. I could spend forever trying to understand myself and humanity.
To the people bringing up, what is immortality? I wouldn't have to worry about that because I would be one hardcore bitch. ;)
The only thing I would wish for is that I would not have to spend eternity with anyone else. To be alone forever would be my idea of heaven on Earth.
If drinking blood keeps me young let's do this shit! Beats botox or a facelift and I would feed...not kill.
- I'm going with the romantic description of the vampire put forward in the books I have read. I'm not talking about all of you "other vampires".
there is always a catch. the gods delight in offering mortals their hearts desire, but with a hidden catch that makes it all turn sour. Are we talking about the traditional Hollywood vampire? almost every movie and horror story has a different take on the vampire myth, and every legend / myth is different.
Supposing you could never taste anything or feel anything? supposing you could not see colours? what if you felt hungry all the time, but could never satiate that hunger?
everything has a price, and the price of immortality would likely cost dearly - most likely it would cost you what you can't bear to live without.
I would have to know exactly what I was getting into. If I had a source of food that I could get without hurnting anyone that would be a big plus.
I personally in reality here don't think a vampyre body lives forever but when they die. They gain a new one and start over having memories come to them and their abilities are there and the hungers are there so as they grow they become stronger each time. Also they tend to look younger than they really are.
In all honesty, being a vampire isn't all that great. Immortality forcing you to watch those you love grow old and die, feeding off blood in which those who watch label you a stereotypical monster, and ( if you believe strictly in most myth and Bram Stokers Dracula description) unable to be in sunlight without an inevitable death. So with those reasons in mind i would choose not to become a vampire.
in most of the Vampire stories, Vampires cannot eat solid food - or if they can, it has no taste. can you imagine what that is like? to live for eternity, but never again be able to taste fish, or a bacon butty? the price is too high - i would sooner choose death.
