What is it that you find interesting about the idea of a Vampire?
The mythology behind it mainly. The history behind it interests me a lot and I love to read up on them.
I'm not keen on the modern day stereotypes of Vampires in Hollywood though.
Before joining here and talked with a person it was just the visual type.
Wasn't that much interested tough.
I got more interested in them since I joined VR especially when I've heard about psychic vampires.
the perception that the spin doctors have placed on thier charactorisations.
I would probably say the mythology, as well as the aura of grace and deadly strength.
The fact that I've learned more about them in the past 5 months than anything I've ever learned about before. Not to mention I AM one, so that definitely helps.
I'm a fan of all folklore, especially any concerning mysteries or the supernatural.
The darkness having to hide it from the mere mortals who are being fed upon, and the romance ......

My passion and undying quest to become immortal before my time runs out
first off who's to say that vampiers are evil.
the power is what attracks me and the ability to do what ever one really wants without living by civilizations rules
im attracted to their ability to have anyone they want.....and to be loved by those they take willingly...
I think I find them so enticing because they spend so much time at coffee shops, and at goth cubs....
How many times can a woodchuck chuck?
About as many times as I've answered this thread over a year.....
I see you....
I am a lover of history and legends. Seeking the truth in legends is somewhat addicting. It can be hard for me to put something to rest.
The more I learn the more I realise I am not alone..............
To me it was the allure that there was something more out there than what the mainstream allowed in their paradigm.
Every culture and society has had something akin to a vampire in it. That in itself merritted enough interest for me to pursue the idea.
Though my research ended up taking me into a completely different direction it still guided me to the path I now lead.
Energy utilisation, and how this effects of inward and outward perceptions of the world, and our relationships with others.
lol there is two vampire threads. i find vampires interesting due to there style and way of living
i love how articulate and romantic and powerful a vampire is, how they can manipulate any weakminded person with a simple thought, how they can sense beauty from the inside out.
their ability to see things in others, that mortals cant. strengths and power. their .........damn, well EVERYTHING!
Ahh Stabb... yes, I too am drawn to that place where the ideals of times past shine brightly.
Irregardless that often these customs were often not done as we imagine (not to mention the social aspects!), I love the idea of blending time to just being. Always. Vampires growing in power, changing with the times and yet remaining the same.
Outside of the mundane, mythical, magical and alluring to the core.
At first, it was the power it seemed they had. Not so much in the mythology sense as it were, but the totems, thoughts and feelings that seemed to go with them.
Not until I met several other psy vampires and started to 'fine tune' myself as noted, did I truly find the allure of being whole-- rather there was another beside me or not.
Everything about vampires - real or fictional, physical or psychic - holds an interest for me, and has since I was very small. I drew blood when I was five (I didn't know what I was doing).... Now, it still has my interest...
I suppose the immortality aspect, that some fictional vamps have, is an attraction as well. I've got some rather nasty health problems, and know - for a fact - that I will be dying an early death from CHF. Just a fact of what is my life... I've already come very close to dying as it is (coma for two weeks, been resuscitated .. all that). For me, the greatest thing would be to never have to worry about my whether I may die tomorrow or not.. To be able to spend the rest of time soaking up as much knowledge as I possibly could - Now *that* would be a lil slice of heaven, right there...
I dig in the movies that some of the hottest women look even more incredible when vamped out.
The thing I find interesting about is the mystery of it.
What is interesting is the way Hollywood has taken a myth and supersition and embellished. Needless to say Hollywood has probably heightened the interest that all members of VR have in the subject.
What is draw, maybe the concept of living on though dead. Maybe it's the idea of accumulating knowledge through many lifetimes of learning.
Or, maybe it's the women!
Oh yes, I'll put a vote in for vampyre woman being quite attractive.
*coughs*
The Mythology....
I Would Say Many Things
But Its Mostly The Mythology
i'd have to say the mythology as well as the whole concept of the vampire the demons the undead the theories people think about them how the Aztecs were considered vampires when they'd sacrifice people to the gods and drank the blood or something along those lines i did a speech about it for school and i had a bunch of information on it but i just don't remember right now but yes thats why i'm so interested that and i've always loved the unnormal of where i live and the society today
~Lady Danica
Would of been easier to say what don't you find interesting.
Everything about a vampire is interesting.
I think what interests me is the many perceptions people have on what a vampire is. You compare old stories to the vampires depicted in movies and stories of today and you find a very different perception. There are so many ways to look at what a vampire is. You come across the arguments over whether they exist or not and there is always something to discuss. The topic of the vampire is an everchanging, thing.
If we were to somehow, insanely, run out of interesting things on the vampire, more would appear because our knowledge on them grows as more things change, and as more voices are heard.
i would have to say the lifestyle, mythology, seeing what other people actually think a vampyre is,and not what hollywood has made them out to be,for if that were true, well i find it amuzing for i am a half-born,from the clan dragul-sta'daat!!!!
I do not favor the whole interests of vampirism for those who watch Hollywood movies, it is the same concept with Satanist. Hollywood truly messed up the image on those door guys as well.
I also rather fancy the modes of dress/costuming that come along with vampyr style.
Nothing sexier IMHO.
I like the idea of imoortality as well as the entire history...
everything..what isn't there to like. Be it movies or real..
That is such a broad question, Angelus!
I do enjoy reading the mythical side, the Slavic myths are all very interesting, and I do find that rigin very educational into how vampirism has evolved.
I am not a big fan of the Hollywood side, but I do still appreciate some films such as Blade for their entertainment value, and I think Stoker's "Dracula" is a beautiful piece of writing, and so inspirational to any writer with vampirism as an interest.
On the note of literature, I enjoy reading the work of those using vampires as a source for inspiration, and I find this site a great source for this exploration.
Taking personal lifestyle into account, I link the utilisation of energy through psychic use of energy and from blood drinking, and I find this mixed with meditation and relationships with others with the same interests to be very fulfilling. I consider myself a HLV, and I do not wish to bring a movie style lifestyle into that, although I am very interested in the gothic elements of life and art, along with philosophy, and I do find that the mixture of all of them mix beautifully in my constant learning curve.
The history that has been told over the years and the people that have encountered them. I really love blood and all and the moon calls to me..but mainly the history is what fasinates me most.
The immortality of them... the romance... the fear... the love... the hate... All combined and more to make for a very interesting conversation with those who do not understand....
At first the image of them and how they were mainly portrayed in stories and things I had seen, but then also the history behind them also made them just as fascinating toward me.
I find it interesting because not a lot of people believe in that type of thing. Most of them heard of vampires and act it out and whatnot, but they don't take the time to study what a vampire truely is.
The immortality and ability to see ages pass - wow.
Just wow...
The ever changing myth. In the beginning there was only one type of vampire I know...no sunlight...can be drowned...a stake throgh the heart...sleeping only in their own coffin w/ their homeland dirt...fear of crosse...u get the picture.
Nowadays, they hide in churches under the alter, some can walk for a small amount of time in daylight, they can mate, they...anyway. Immortality...they stay like they look when they die. Queen askd the question..."Who wants to live forever?"...I do.
immortality, blood lust, all things. i've been a vampire lover since i was in the third grade. just attracted to the style and everything that has to do with it.
the diversity that apears to hold the gathering together
I think that the whole idea and stories behind them is what interests me
Its erotic, forbidden, dark and despairing at times its like poetry in motion a gentle destructiveness and to live forever is something that mortals fantasise about. The fact that it connects us to a darkness another life outside our own. power and pleasure wrapped up as one. Something thats eternal thats ages old. That its more believable than the bible and all religious beliefs.
i like to learn to read to descover and mostly i like to imaginei! and all these stories gives me a lot to think about to imagine, to have something where i can be ''at home''!
i would say the dark mystery that still shrouds them... through the years there has been way to many writings and legends in every culture for it all to be a complete myth.
The historical aspect is quite interesting.
The mystical aspect is also a draw but not nearly so much as the actual recorded history.
It for me is a very interesting point of discussion , I mean born into the want and need ...the crave for blood is only a mere part of it...the point of eternity and living among the shadows...stalking,looming...the beauty of the hunt...a very biting topic indeed ...bwahhahaha
i am definatly interested in all aspects of vampirism. i relate the most to psychic vampyres.
Until recently I was never interested in my “curse”. So many people spend countless hours trying to rid me of my “disease”. I was never instructed or informed about what I am or why. I never watched movies that fictionalized vampires because I was afraid of who and what I am. As a child I was made ashamed of my needs. I never called myself a vampire. I was taught that vampires are evil and that my urges and needs where evil. I still don’t understand the allure to this torture I have endured my whole life. Drug addicts who have tried to become clean feel a part of what I’ve been made to feel. I don’t see why anyone would find this at all romantic or interesting. But that’s just my feelings. I am glad to have found a place in this world, no matter how remote, where I am not persecuted for something I did not ask for nor want.
everthing, the blood lust, the powers, the night, i like everything about them, even the darkness. I belive that vampires can be any way you imagen them!
immortality and being a secret night creature that some do not believe in
so much of the vampire be it the legend, the myths, the exagerations, the hollywood, so much is very interesting. so much of the vampire is spiritual in nature* which amuzes me,
it blends with other things that I have an interest in/blends with ninjitsu and energy work and the love of existance for ever
the creation factor...etc.
But mostly I must admit that I relate to the fact that a vampire is either alone/or a part of a very tight clan and group.
for me I am much like that/I work with energy and I enjoy the sharing of blood and energy, the living forever appeals, but I am a loner and at times a part of a very tight clan. others amuze me and such but I am different and watch from the edge.
Yes nice sparkling teeth who wouldn't be aroused at that. A fine set of gompers! Enough said
The simple fact that I am one. Once I realized how much I loved the taste of blood, I put that with the fact that I don't like humanity. Knowing exactly who I was FINALLY didn't scare, I embraced it.
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hot Satanic Chicks on which i can drink the sang of.
What interests me about vampires? Practicaly everything. I'm drawn to the immortality and the history of them. The fact that they drink blood and bite. Just everything.
My interest in vampyres stems from childhood. I have been interested for as long as I can remember.
My interest in "Hollywood" vamps is simple. Power, sex, blood, intelligence, attitude, and just a touch of human vulnerability.
But as I said, that's what attracts me to the "Hollywood" vamps...I'm not sure what interests me about real vampyres.
The mythology and mystery.....all aspects. And....finding VR and to be able to discuss much and for me with other psy vampires.
i like vampires i like the way they do things i think they are so cool
i think that for most people its just a intrest as far others its a lifestyle and it does changes peoples lifestyles getting into this line, but i think as it was stated and cant be re written any better, to each there own.
I'm not so interested in learning about vampires as I am in finding others who are vampires. Being able to be with one's own kind, companionship....that sort of thing.
I agree with RowanTears. I'm not intrested at all with the romantic idea that some people have about vampires. I personally find it a challange at best. I'm only intrested in learning how other people who are struggling to deal with this way of living deal with it.
I would have to say the mythology and history of the vampire...
i would say i feel the same about vampires and which i do,i really dont know what drows my att to them and what gets my so interested in the i just am i gusse its the way they go about feeding and how they live their nights
I am a fan of all things mystical and folklore so thats what interested me
after reading the vampire lestat i felt the freedom that comes from being a vampire
sure there is a price to pay but it's a price i'm willing to pay for freedom and immortality
I am interested in their immortality, and that the can hypnotise people to do their bidding for them as well as make a human lust for them
the sophistication, charm, and mental power vampires are portrayed to have.
it has to do with all the historey and all the folklore and such that really caught my eye other than it being my heratige and the envoerment i grew up in
I am interested in the folklore behind it all. Immortailty is nice as well but it could get boring over time.
i'm interasted in there long life, immortality, blood lust, strength, pretty much everything about them....
to be honest i dont know.. i just got into it and i love it... first started to drink blood then started to be inerterested in the vampiric myths
I just love being whom i am, even tho i am sireless and know nothing of my maker nor his being around as of late, i love the thought of blood apon my lips and i am rather happy with those whom i have sired myself.
well.. i think the folklore and legends behind these mysterious figures...
i wonder how many people here are just posting for raitings
I would love the youthful immortality...just think of the things you'd witness with a 200yr life over a possible 75 or so....imagine 400 years now ....oh the wonders you'd see
that its forbidden and a mystery i enjoy learning about the darkness and the unknown its a tril so anything about vamps i love
everything and then some...and I like the people i meet learning about them too. They're like family because they understand things noone else would
Immortality, strenghth, their affinity to animals, mostly everything
I never really cared for vampires until I started studying them a few days ago and realized thatalmost all the abilities that they attribute to a psi vamp I had and had been using for years not knowing that i was one.A good movie on Psi vamps is Life force
I have loved the theory and mythology behind vampires since I was very young. My mother today regrets ever showing me vampire movies because of how I am today. I love the fact they are beautiful and the energy withhold inside of them is amazing. And the immortality is quite interesting I may say. To live forever without someone and alone in the shadows must be a very hard thing. And the love they share with another when and if they find someone. That's my thoughts on the mythology vampires.
Their Immortality!
I have been obsessed with Vampires since I was about 9 yrs. old.... an obsession that disturbed my parents I might add....
I am in love with the idea of living forever beautiful.... and living through history. Experiencing the culture, the important events....
I would love to sit at their feet and learn all the stories and knowlege they have aquired!
Ah Ecstacy!
~Simonis~
they are very dark and beautiful. only those who have courage and creativity can pull off being a vampire.
The mythology behind it mainly. The history behind it interests me a lot and I love to read up on them.
I'm not keen on the modern day stereotypes of Vampires in Hollywood though.
everyting about vampires,the mytohlogy,the mysterium,their beauty looks..
The mythology behind them & i find psychic vampires to be very interesting!
hmm blood, power, lust, mystery , and the darkness of it all
the mythology, i find it so intrseting.
and the whole idea of power, and being able to strike fear in people is just awesome.
I would definitely say the history, i love history. Vampyres are beautiful in their own way. I am a vampyre, and love every minute of being one.
Well, see i find everything intersting. but ever since i was like 12 (right after my dad died--not sure of the connection) i have just been drawn to the idea of them, and getting to know more about them. If this makes any sense
hmm i forgot to list in my previous post the mystery coming with this strange unique figures...
The mythology behind them. Every culture in the world has vampire lore, and it's amazing how different they are from culture to culture.
Vampires are so interesting because of the mythology behind them and the history......the fangs and bitting people...he he he
Well practically my whole life i have been interested in the dark side of things. I'm facinated in everything that revolves around anything dark. Vampires are one of them yes. The mythology behind it and the characters itself.
there is many reason why vampires are intresting to me I have been studying them extensively since I was 10 years old.Every book made on vampyres i have read or own. Their Ablities there Dexterity strength, beauty ageltiy(yeah i can spell just not today) Mystery, that dates back to biblical times when and Caine and Lilith were lovers.
I will have to say there history because they have have seen alot in there life time.
Well...they do kinda kinda sorta sorta interest me...even the hollywood vampire interest me...I myself was a blade fan *nods* =)
what interests me the most is their history for sure, but also the idea that they are similar to us and other animals with feeding off of other species from the food chain... Living forever would be the downfall though.. I can see why a vampire would be lonely and depressed.. imagine watching those you love die over and over again...
I really like the vast quest for knowledge, it seems as though they actually care about what has happened in order to better plan for the future, whereas humans seem to just want to care about now, now, now.
I agree with ShadowedLight as well.. they seem to have an eternal quest for knowledge
... it is more a way of life than an interest... but it is the history that gets me.. I am a major freak when it comes to histories... and this one particular, with its ins and outs... is most.... gratiying
