Have you ever lost a friend or loved one because you confided in them about your vampirism?
Yes..some people cant deal with it at all, if they truly love you they come back though
No, I haven't told anyone about my hidden secrets that might make them look at me weird.
no not really cause i am a very accepting person and i keep friends that are the same
no just the opisit 4 of them joind vampire rave LOL and my mom is thinking of joining
looks up eekkkkkkkkkkkk theres one of them now
pokes evilkitty
i cant say that i ever have, as far as a friend is concerned. my parents claim they dont know when i turned 'bad' and my father things my bf corrupted me...but i could care less bout what they think
Yes truly a sandbox forum but i have had many questions about my psy-abilities when i finally told people. Some people looked at me funny and had even told me its in my mind but finally realized what i was able to do was more than mere luck. Some people talk to me less, but they are still my friends.
As a very young child, yes. That was before I learned what real friends are.
Why is it a sandbox topic when its about losing people close to you because you told them you were a vampire.?
Yes. In fact, my "friend" 's husband once told me in an e-mail, something along the lines of:
"Go to hell, you vampire thing. From what I know about them, they're the souls of the damned"
Granted, that's not the main reason why we lost our friendship but I just find it funny her hubby said that to me when they're both - especially his wife and my former friend - very much interested in vamps themselves. HIPOCRITES!
vampires rule... tell them ill to leave our kind alone!
Am not a vampire but I lost friends cause of the gothic scene and my religious belifs.
I have vampiric friends though and had relationships as well, when I found out what they are I became closer to them.
If it's not vampirism not true friends will always have an excuse for not being your friend anymore.
To me it happens always, cause certain people are not friends with you for who you are,but for who they want you to be.
I've noticed that when a person doesn't give a damn to fit in she gets discriminated.Fine I prefer to alone and be myself rather than a hypocrite for others.
If the friend was gone because of being you, then im sorry but its not a freind at all, and thus you have lost nothing!
I have lost many so called friends because of my beliefs and vecause of being me.. then i discovered that they never cared about me but they just wanted to shape me as they liked, which personally i think it sucks, thus i had to choose, either have only a friend or two whom love me and accept me for what i am or keep all those friends and change...
I d rather be alone, then being not me again!
Yes i have lost some friends because of that.
Rowiel I agree with you completely on that
if they cant accept you for you or what you are, then they weren't not even your real friends in the first place
indeed necrosis...
its incredible how ppl want to change you!
I havent really lost friends because of it but the fact that i'm into vampires & werewolves and magic...its kinda put a rift between my friends & me...they think i'm too weird to be around...but the rest of my friends are like "Wow..kool..and tend to ask me questions about it etc.
But Rowiel your right...if they were true friends they wouldnt care what your into, they'd still stick by you...their not true friends so your better of without them!
*nods and smiles* indeed.... but when a true freind is found keep it tight :) i have just one right now but she is so dear to me and she understands me fully.. shes like me :)
I have never told my family. My boyfriend is my donor. :)
Rowiel
I know its amazing how some ppl can actually be like that, but yet once someone does it
to them they cant deal with it.
I lost alot of my friends. I have one that remained true to me. She is my confident. She might not understand what I tell her sometimes...but even if its about an energy buzz I got from a feeding..she's there..to talk to me..
She is what I cherish more than anything...and I think it is because she is the only one in this world that tried to understand..and accepted me hands down.
Other than her...I have no friends...no one understands.
Arvalin, i think it's great that you have
a friend like that, not many ppl would
do that
Yes it was depressing. It was because she was christian
Never lost a friend because of it. I surrond myself with pretty open-minded people. If someone is not accepting of others and there little quirks or interests. then I do not bother too long with them.
If a friend is a true friend then they would support your feeling and not disrespect your feelings.
no never, they honor that i belive in something diffrent. Im wiccan they dont mind thinks its cool and interested to learn more about it.
In my opinon and experience in life ~~If they are no longer your friend because you were honest with them well~~~ they were not really ever a true friend to begin with~~ real people and true ones do not Judge whom we are or what we do ~~~ A true friend is an unconditional thing~~ so if you lost them ~it really is their lost ~~cause you were open and honest and they are not~~~ just my feelings on it~
I'm not a vampire and such, but I have wierded out some family and friends with my lifestyle choices and some strange sexual pratices.
I don't usually volenteer information. To be quite honest, it's none of anyone's buissness what I do. I will, however, if the time is right, tell someone about me. If they don't like what I do, they can either leave or not
I'm not going to change what I do or who I am for anyone.
Some people are scared of what they do not know, or taboo things.
Yes, you will see friends grow distant and others straight up not talk to you. You can see the fear in their eyes, the misunderstood stares, and the comments.
It all depends on how conservative and old fashioned that person is, and how molded they are to the mainstream society of today.
i lost friends once before when i gave up the lifestyle for my now ex fiancee, well now that shes gone seems im fitting in better and friends are coming back
Well - I'm not a vampire, however all my friends are very accepting people. Anti-Discrimnation if you know what I mean.
I have long since found that those people I truly call friends are people who would understand anything about me...and if they disagreed, they would either approach it like an adult or give me some shit for being 'bat shit crazy' but in a friendly and joking way.
I've learned that those people I instinctively don't get too close to and keep as aquaintances are in that limbo for a reason and I could really care less if they left based on discrimination or pregudicial feelings.
if i was a vampire i wouldn't tell anyone cause they would think u are nuts, but then again a vampire to me means alot more than this psi thing, if i was a vampire i wouldn't be sitting here on the pc i would be out there creating my kingdom, i love the goth scene and the people but never have i ever met a vampire
Nope. All my friends are pretty understanding about it all.
i've never lost a friend due to my being a vamp.....but i have lost them because of the way i can see things when i touch people
I have worked hard to put together a network of supportive ppl. as my friends. Ppl. whom accept you is what real friendship is about
I was disowned by my own adoptive family for being a vampire. Not to mention my gothic lifestyle. Or my being Pagan.
So I've lost a lot due to this, but I can't deny who I really am anymore the way I used to because it was driving me literally insane trying to keep track of who all I was supposed to be for whom.
I find it better to be honest with everyone than to hide yourself.
pick and choose friends wisely....I haven't mainy friends for many sorted insanity issues....I have aquaintences....I usually talk open about my life and things I've done...If people keep talking to me then I will consider them friends
Some people dont need to know. . . Others think its a joke

I've lost a close friend, not because I told her what I was, she already knew that, but because I unitentionally feed from her. she couldn't get used to the idea of someone taking her own energy from her. and then my one of my aunts, on my mum's side, she won't tak to me. it's not just because I am what I am, it's also that fact that I'm a Wiccan, a "goth", and it's all just to much for her little Christian mind to accept. it is unfortunet, because I was once close to her.. but I see it as no big loss. if people won't still love and care for me after the find out my nature, there is no reason for me to be upset if they choose to disassociate themselves from me.
No matter what-- eatting disorder, vampirism, sexuality-- you tend to lose lose people, or even grow stronger bonds.
Some even pass it off as a joke.
This saddens me and sorry to her this. People that judge i can do without. If they were any friend at all they would have left you. I feel it her/his loss and OUR gain. :) Blessed be! You are still Human with feelings as well. you have VR as your family. As the saying goes ignorance is bliss.
No haven't lost anyone, because half the people don't believe in them anyway. And I am very selective with the people I associate with anyway. I don't care anyway. They weren't your friend to begin with if they can't accept you for who you are.
I have lost aquaintances, because i am upfront about who i am the ones who stick around are the real friends
No.. but that is because I only tell the ones I am sure can handle the truth about my nature.. But if they ask me I say yes...
I dont talk about it....it might be escapist, but its peaceful...
i havent lost anyone because i feel that its none of their business and havent felt that anyone needs to know.
yes i have actually quite a bit of them it was their loss because they said that i was one of the best friend that they had.
I haven't yet but I think I soon will lose a very good friend due to my vampire fettish
I'm growing more and more apart from my family because of what I am and what I believe in. Though I don't see it as a bad thing...
I've only ever lost one... but they weren't a very good friend to begin with...
See like i said the truth comes out they were never a friend to begin with :)
Yes, because they were ignorant and stupid about it. I just endure vampirism, and they left me. What great friends.
i have lost a couple and it was over the fact that i study druidism very prodominantly
No i cant say that i have but ppl have thought i ws rele weird then called me a spook and never talked to me again
if you lose a friend over something like that they were never a friend anyway
i dont claim to be a vampire but i have lost "friends" because of religious differences... but if they cant deal with my religion or lack thereof they werent real friends anyway right?
lost more friends when i came out to everyone about my sexuality then i did when made my lifestyle apparent...so it didnt really phase me
I told a few friends and they freeked and still dont talk to me till this day.
If friends are true, they will stick with you no matter what your decisions. They may try to change your mind about a decision here and there but will not leave you so long as you are no danger to them.
well actually by reading the responses here and also by personal expierence i have concluded that you should be selective about the persons that surrond you in order for them to remin true to you... so even if the persons around you are few, you know that they will be there for you :)
nope but i have many friends that think there vampires o.o; nothing wrong with that :P
No, because I don't consider myself a 'vampire' I have howeever lost friends because they found out I was otherkin'dragon
Lost only one "friend". She was a vamp and couldn't live with herself anymore. She killed herself. I kept her ashes. In this day and age, what is a friend anyway? Hunger requires no explanation. I would not ask a starving child why they were hungry -- I'd just feed on them. Being a vampire is all about sacrifice and "friends" fall into that category. For survivalist reasons, they must (should) be kept few and far between.
Yes I have, I told a friend I thought I trusted, and she ended up telling many people in the nieghborhood in which I lived, caused a great deal of problems for me.
I told my husband and my roommate at the time that I drank blood. It was only my own due to lack of donors and guts. They made jokes about it. My husband believed that I could just stop. It wasn't an instinct because instincts don't exist. My ex-roommate started to tell her new boyfriends. So when I was introduced for the first time, I was subjected to questioning on vampirism. I am a very shy person so it was more than uncomfortable. She started calling me vampire in public. I had enough. I started to hide my wounds and just told them I got over it. Gradually the jokes stopped. I will never tell them or any more of my friends again.
my friend has. but thats the kind of people we have in iowa
they must not be much of a true friend if they dont accept you for you.

no thank god i havent lost anyone but then again when i tell them most just look at me like i am crazy so i just have kept it a secret for the most part
i'm not a vampire, im a donor!!
although i do not go around telling ppl cuz they'd think im nuts!
I've not, because I don't really call myself a vampire. Although, just because of my "strange" appearance/mannerisms, I'm sure I've missed out on getting to know a lot of people though.
No, because my friends are all fairly cool with it (though I haven't told many yet... but if they want to ask me I will be open about it).
To be honest, I'm not telling my family because I hardly speak to them anyway.
wel all the "gothic" stuff these days..is "cool"... i think the saying goes.."its cool to be uncool" or something along those lines, so i supose being alternative or not like everyones else...is more widely accepted these days... and i have made alot of friends due to this...so i supose it just depends on your friends.
i've never lost a friend to vampirism, but i have lost one because of my interest in Witchcraft. i made the mistake of telling my friend, who was okay with it, but it turned out her family was not. turns out that her family were pretty dedicated christians. one time when i slept over at her house, practically her entire family looked at me funny and kind of stayed away from me. later on, her aunt pulled me aside and told me to "escape from the Darkness" and "choose the Light", even though the Craft i do is only good. i never heard from my friend again after that. i'm pretty sure her parents wouldn't allow her to call me. it was heartbreaking, but i've learned from that experience.
If so they are not a friend i would want to have all my friends know about my habits
I had to kill some of my friends in my past lives due to me beain a vampire
I've come to imagine that I've been killed many times in my plethora of past lives by friends or people who discovered what I was. :-) So far in this modern day and age, no one really believes in REAL vampires anymore, so I might actually live longer... However there are people around me who act a certain way around people like me and I can tell in their tone of voice their misunderstanding and ignorance for what we are. I keep things on the down-low, and no one is the wiser.
I've not lost anyone, but I know people who have. It's all quite sad as I'm sure everyone can imagine. There's little that will change that I fear while ignorance and the cross remain dominant at least in this country.
no, all my friends are pretty much like me, but I haven't told my family
My darker nature has been hidden from my family and some friends I've known all my life, for they are great people, but would not understand that part of me. Some I have lost due to telling them of my true self, but good riddance....for they were not true friends to begin with.
My babe didn't lose me when she told me...she's the one who actually got me into VR.lmao
Wow I was gonna say that Nephthysx! She is so right! You need to be you for you and never change just because someone says they hate how you are! You were made to be vampire..so by god be one and never let anyone say different!
