Whats your religeon! What do you base your everyday life around?

I am Agnostic. I have no set religeon. I believe in everything and everything in one!

What about you?

agnostic

but it doesn't end there

I find Buddhism echoing through all the stages of enlightenment I cross

I don't have to seek it out, I hear stuff when my eyes are opened to it developmentally

I read all about all other religions though, whenever I can get my hands on it.

Any religion is useful to agnostic, the word of god is a sublime concept.

I honestly don't know what I am, because so many religions fit with what I do and say. I'll have to agree with the movie Dogma and say that the "idea" of religion is far better than the belief of it. If you look at all the different religions, all of them have essentially the same main points, the "Golden Rule." To me, religion really doesn't matter. It's the ideas and concepts that matter. They are God, Goddess, whatever it is you want to believe.

the Ardaiya girl dogma quote quite good. That is how I feel. I appreciate when a master teaches me something.

as far as making your own religion, impossible. No one here is a massiah, including me. What I forge is philosophy. In order for a religion to be a religion, it has to have a philosophy that someone besides you believes in. You have to have at least one follower. At last count I am alone in my thinking.

My philosophy is my religion. I use science to determine what is determinable.

How many people showed up to Jesus's funeral, how many followers had he? He was the son of god, come on, need I say more.

So, what you believe in is your philosophy.

My families background was steeped in Baptist...and I was raised within my immediate family under the Apostolic Faith.

But my church went from a few islamic similarites to christian similaries, changing much of what was preached before when I was a child.

So now having investigated much for my own inner truth and experiences, I am of no set Religion...

yet consider myself to be very Spiritual studying Shamanics and Eastern philosophy.

I'm an agnostic. It's not so much the fact that I don't believe in God, I just don't believe that there is one set religion that is completely correct in their beliefs. I respect all religions very much. I'd like to believe that religion has kept man's sanity in dark times. For me personally, I believe that the majority of religions in the world are generally the same. As in a savior, marters, tragedies, etc. I believe that at one point in time that there probably was one set religion at the beginning of man's reason but when the belief system was told over many millenia, it spread as bad gossip. If you don't know what I mean, message me and I'll explain. I do believe that there is a God, it's just that there are so many different religions that may confuse a person. As I said, I greatly respect all religions but everyone needs to realise that there are always a few parts that you don't agree with....Now if you think about it, imagine that disagreement in billions of people and spread their word over a millenia. Starting to understand what I mean?

To be honest I have my own religion.
It involves the world as part of one mass universe wich is within an atom that contains another universe. Every atom has it's own universe inside it. The meaning of life is to live. Fullfill life and die naturally.

I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of Heaven and Ea....... Oh wait..... I'm a few years past those days.

I wasn't raised religious at all. I think I set foot in a church maybe three times before I was around 12 or 13 years old. Then I started going to church with my aunt, who is Roman Catholic. I joined the teen group there, and was eventually baptised, took my First Communion, and all that good stuff. Then I started realizing how many things didn't quite seem to add up to me with Christianity. I began studying other religions, and even went though a typical angsty teenage period of fluffbunny Wicca.

Now, my religious beliefs are my own, and quite fluid at that. I've drawn influence from a number of faiths and philosophical beliefs, adding my own ideas and interpretations.

I believe in god, but my concept of god is not a singular entity, but the collective consciousness of the entire universe. In one way or another, everything that exists, will ever exist, and has ever existed, across all dimensions, is connected in one way or another. Everything affects everything else. The collective of all space and time, is quite obviously all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-powerful.

I believe that all living things, upon conception, are instilled with energy, types of matter we are not yet familiar with on a scientific level. I think that the balance of these energies that we are born with affect our development, but not definately. I think that just as these energies have the power to affect us, the reverse is true as well. These energies are part of a cycle no different then the organic matter we are composed of, and when we die, it rejoins the cycle.

I believe in the power of prayer, magical spells, as well as psychic ablities. But I think they are all one and the same. The power of our brains that remains largely unused. That we are capable of far more then we realize, but using an indirect focal point allows these abilities to manifest without conscious knowledge of what we are doing.

I also believe in reincarnation, although there are some Wiccans who don't. I cast spells for love, healing, intuition, creativity, prosperity, etc., but NEVER to break or bend another's will.

I guess I don’t believe in mass religions. I believe in metaphysical levels of understanding. It’s kind of hard to explain. Recarnation is involved. I believe that when we die, if we lived a good life we will ascend to another level of understanding of what god expects of us, like psychic people are just on a higher level than those who don’t have any psychic abilities. They are closer to god in a lot of ways that we mere people can not understand and that is the may reason why we persecute them. With each level we ascend to we are closer to where we should be and that is with god. Yes, I do believe in god, I may not like god at times or should I say most of the time but god is real. With each level we rise to we obtain new abilities but when we abuse the powers or live an evil life style we descend levels. One evil deed can send you right to the bottom or worst to non-existence. Once we reach the highest level there is we are with god. I guess in a way we have to prove ourselves to god to let god see if we are worthy of his or her grace. I don’t exactly know how many levels there are but I know I am close to the bottom because I have no psychic abilities. I guess I can kind of count knowing who is calling when the phone rings but than again I know very few people so maybe that doesn’t count. I'm still trying to get my thoughts straighten out about this. If you want to know more message me.

CHRITSTIAN!!I can not live without my savior Jesus Christ in my life. For many many years I was Wiccan, but I had a personal encounter that made me change really quick. The whole promise of me going to Hell and having my flesh torn off for eternity didn't relly appeal to me anymore.

If God is allforgivener and can see your true self, then Hell doesn`t exist! Hell, described as a terrifying place, exists only in Christianity...in the old religions, there are still mild discomforts in the Underworld, but still...

I agree with Ahriman. I was raised christian but after being raped by a christian I changed very quick as well. Not to down Christians but I will never step foot in a christian church unless it is to go to a funeral! But yeah I am not to fond of Christinity...but hey I have a lot of Christians friends so I am not by any means trying to say anything bad about it! I mean you are your own person and you believe in what you want. You also have your own opinion as well! ta ta =)

I'm a Swedenborgian. I believe there is only one God who is God...period. It's a religion most Christians call a cult because we believe that Jehovah and Jesus were and are the exact same person. We don't believe in the whole "I got saved" thing. We believe that your whole life is a spiritual journey which occurs within a spiritual equilibrium. You decide what your life will be. When you die...you go where you want to go. Nobody throws you into hell....nobody raptures you up to heaven. You are your own judge. You simply go to your people. Those who are just like you.

Well, don't I feel out of place here. I grew up christian/agnostic, had a crisis of faith, explored other religions, and found my true place in the Roman Catholic Church. The reason, if you can believe it, is that I am open minded. It'd take too long to explain it now, but I love my new religion. It's fantastic. Most people regect it out of hand based on some preconcieved notion of how Catholics are supposed to act, or what the Church has done in the past, to the point where I feel more persecuted than my Wiccan, Taoist, Buddist, and other friends of assorted beliefs. It doesn't matter to me though, I stand by my faith.

Vashti: Good for you! A lot of people have attitudes about organized religions, especially Christianity and Islam. Indeed people have been deeply hurt by experiences in those institutions, and I don't necessarily recommend them to anyone. Still, for all the BS that gets imposed on children through culture and institutions, they remain valid choices for people who make conscious thoughtful discernment as adults. Sure our religions have brutal histories, but atheists and pagans have their share of genocides and oppressive regimes, too. (Granted we have a lot of Wiccans here, and I can't think of any problems caused by that particular form of paganism. Maybe I need to do more research, but who has the time?)

I am fucked up in the head myself when it comes to religion. I do believe in God, but I do not believe that any religion around today preaches the "true" religion. I enjoy studying other religions and am very open minded about all of it. I will never condemn anyone for their beliefs. Actually, I love to talk religion with people who believe differently than I do. I love to learn new ideas and ideals. One of my sons is Wiccan. My soon to be daughter-in-law is a witch~Wiccan, I believe, but following a different path than my son. So, yea, I am very open to all religious beliefs.

Vampling said something that, erm.... intrigued me. And, yeah, this may stir things up here.... I've found that believing in something greater than oneself offers one a challenge to be greater than oneself. Granted that's a two-edged sword and we see as many people who tend to act like they are God and strive to impose their interpretation of God's rules on everyone else. On the other hand faith in an expansive, forgiving, personal God, or faith in ideals of humanity and charity or... do lead to people with kinder more generous hearts and deeds of compassion and even heroism. I've seen this in secualr humanists and self-professed communists as much as with people of religion, so the point is not to believe in any religion or god, but to believe in something greater than oneself.

well, we now have the best religion on the site, what toilet duc said about being tapped inot the collective unconcious of the universe, my god I can't even begin to imagine what that must be like. I like the looks of the word deities,

I'll get baptised when I die so all my sins are absolved

Bertrand russel said and this is only in reaction to what a poster stated, that out of all the religions only one can be right.

I guess that is why I choose none to serve. I find all religions useful to serve me though, not that I ever seek it out. I have subway convos, and I always learn a great deal from the deeply religious. They understand me very well, they might not be able to philosophise, but they can tell me something that is relevent to my life path an speed me on my journey. I guess you could say I am a subway vampire sucking the religion out of the passengers.

nothing that happens cannot be explained. We might not have the answer yet, but to rely on god for answer to determine why or how something happened is not sufficient. God never speaks to us. How many of you who believe in god have actually heard god speak to you. And if there is not one of you who have been answered by god to explain that which cannot, then I say we must explain it ourselves. Everything that happens has a way of figuring it out. It is just a matter of time before we can understand all things in life. The humdrum and the mundane regular topics of the origin of life universe, the classic arguements for the need for good to explain are one thing but, breaking down things that can be understood or have a way, or steps of logic to unravel them, will be unravelled and determined, it is the nature of life intelligent life to come to a conclusion on mysteries. That is my personal satisfaction, to find an answer for things, like why the sky is blue. When you know "the science of things" (a bush CD) then there is a general applicative process of lending phenomena origin to other phenomena. We have much to learn but only if we try to seek the answers ourselves. I mean there have been some popes who have said that god doesn't even talk to them, and the pope is supposed to be most holy. And if he can't be spoken to by god, then what of us not holy? And if we all believe in a mute god, who never answers our prayers, which I hear is a common complaint by most people who were once religious and even a complaint by Jobe in the bible, then, you know, the thing with Jobe is, it may have just been a test of faith. If I was a god, I would have a most difficult obstacle course to get to my heaven, and maybe this is the case, the diabolical construction of reality to derail and detour lives,

I am just going to stop, something to think about that is all

this has not been a slam on religion, just asking people to examine what they believe considering a new perspective. I may be the devil trying your faith, in that case, I am part of the diabolical plan to detour you from heaven and derail your life.

If believing in something grweater than you makes you greater then more power to you, the reason why I do not succumb to belief systems is since I believe god is mute and we must make our own beds to lie in it, what is the use to believing in a god, when even the most religious of the most religious know that god will not tie your shoelaces or do anything for you that must be done. The reason or the necessity of religion to me seems to be that we are to behave good so we get into heaven.

Doing good acts to have good karma is not good acts of to bring good karma. When we do something for no gain of ours then, that is true benevolence. God, if there is a god, he /she can see our motivations clear, we are fooling no one, only ourselves and not even god.

Do we need a god to police us with terror? To make us behave good, if my logic has boiled down the need for god to exist just because

1) to explain the unexplainable

2) to have gods ear, but leaves it up to us to divine our destiny?

3) which leaves us that the fear of god to do good acts is all that is left. But do we really need someone watching over us to be good and act good

I don't believe in god, but all you people know that the "darkness" of this site is the very same response I get from the outside world, the thqankless job of being benevolent to others, and being punished or ignored by people. I mean there was a thread on Deja Vu, and I postulated something and people were like no, it is not what you say, and then I come back later to it, and everyone has the understanding of what I postulated. I don't care if I change what someone believes, I don't need credit for making a wave to cause change. But I want you all to see, you believe in god and you don't acknowldeg good works of others. We should encourage someone who tries to reach out, not send hate mail into their inbox so everytime they log on the want to delete their profiles, especially the ones who try to make a difference. God is watching, how do you think you will make it into heaven if you ignore or treat good people wrog? I don't abide by any religion the excuses such acts even if it is congruent to human nature.

belief structures should give us value sytems, and ways of thinking to respect things that are worthwhile in safeguarding. I catch nothing from hell on this site but I am still here. I will not stop until I am dead. My philosophy - what I believe in is perseverence of benevolence. This is the main tenet I adhere to....

now vampir in the sun you have your own oppinion but like its shown here everyone has there own beliefs and that is a good thing cause no one should be the same as another everyone should be their own person and have everyright to believe in what they want to with out haveing someone telling them they need to rethink what they believe in ...

if you want to do that then go and single out all and i guarantee you this you will have alot on your plate...

wars have been started cause of religion so we all know it can be a very[powerful thing so just let everyone do there own thing and dont try to preach to anyone on here cause itll just get ugle and we dont need any more disputes in the threads ...

Im open minded, and think that everyone should just be who and what they feel they are. I don't think i would change my religion, my friend started talking to me about Judaism, and it what nice listening about another point of view, my grandmother took me to the jehovahs witnesses, and my brother to the mormons, i was confused for a while, i was actually thinking about just converting. But no, i decide to stay where i am, im not a big fan of going to church all the time, but i believe in god and well i dont wanna be without a religion.

I choose to follow no religion. My whole life people have been trying to push thier religion and views onto me. Trying to convince me that I need to choose what they are into or what they currently like. So I have chosen for the moment to say "No Thanks" to all of it. But I do respect everyone else's religious choice. To each their own!
