This subject has most definitely been touched before, but just as a general discussion........
What is Immortality and what can be classified as it?
Is Immortality at all possible?
Is Immortality what draws so many people to vampires?
And most Importantly......
Would you want it???
Umm... I can't say that I would really want immortality so to speak... maybe to live a couple hundred years or something, but I wouldn't want to live forever... you'd have to make new friends... then they'd die, and it would just always be the same routine...
Well there is a diference between immortality and eternal life.
Imortality imply that one cannot die, eternal life iply one can die if kill but if not kill by exterior force or illness then will stay alive eternelly.
Wow commenting on my own post how low is that?....Well, I personally believe that immortality is not possible. Nothing can live forever. IE If it was born it must die. For there to be life there must be death....Simple Duality.......
i personally wouldnt want to have it bcuz of the fact that i dont want to see the world rip itself apart and see all the destruction. i want to be able to die and be with the one i love forever and not have to live on this earth. I personally dont think its possible bcuz i havent seen or even heard of any proof hat it does. it may be one reason y ppl are attracted to vampires but i think the big one is just because wen ppl talk about vampires, the first things that normally come to their minds are blood and darkness
Immortality, is having your memories of every life in tact...Your energy and all your knowledge/wisdom complete...Your spirit fully expanded and accessible...Being everyhere you have been, every moment...
I love when Enigma responds, ( very inteligent) i respect you man. the thought crosses my mind that some would say that we do go on forever, we are energy an Einstine said energy can not be distroyed nor created only change form, so...when we die we could just change form, just wild thoughts here people. tryin to get you to see other forms or this discussion. I have a son so i feel when i am gone, in a way i still live on. he is the fifth generation to carry my name so in a way i feel that is a form of immortality
i may have opend a barrel of monkeys with that one! LOL
correct energy can not be destroyed so we are eternal, hands down. Immortal to this 3d plane and well remaining in the flesh bag as it is here and now, that only appeals to me in the sense that I love earth and I love this place ...its trees and mountains and rivers and oceans. So immortality would give me time to explore.
However I would very much so like to experience the other forms my energy is to transform and not be limited to this plane of existance
Dark Greeting's, I want immortality,on other planes as well as this one.I feel the Soul/Spirit (KA / BA) is immortal.Be it energy or concionusness. We all are on a genetic level.Unfortunatly the thought Knome stole my thought's other than these I'll get back to you.
Dark Blessing's,
KA
Watch those thought Knomes
Immortality - I dunno, it would be kinda fun, but not at the same time.
As for is it possible? That depends. Depends on whether we are talking coroporeal or spiritual immortality. A lot of the worlds religions deal with immortality of the spirit, whether it be reincarnation or going to a nirvana like existence.
So immortality depends on your viewpoint. Physical immortality may be possible throught the machinations of science, manipulation of the genetic code etc, but thsi is still way off.
I believe in immortality of the spirit btw, but Im not sure what I prescribe to...
Immortality is to live forever, and is mostly associated with vampires, but it can also be refered to souls/sprits etc, they live on forever either in the world as we know it or in the hearts of their loved ones, and then we are over in the symbolic department.
Is Immortality at all possible?
It is higly unlikely because of the thing we call natural laws, the degreneration of our human body. There have been some far fetched theories, that states that daily ingesting of fresh blood in small dosages can lengthen life, but first of all, that would require an endless supply of fresh blood. The other problem is that the body cannot digest blood, and if too much blood coalgulate in your stomac you will die, and then we are back to sqare one.
Yes. I think the fasination with a creature that can live forever, and still maintaining their beauty is what mainly draws people towards vampires, but I also think that things such as thier talents, gifts and enchanting aura plays its part.
For your final question, do I want the abillity to live forever, no. I think it would be too much to bare, seeing all the people that are important to you die from old age, one by one they are taken away, leaving you to deal with your usual daily shit.
On the other hand, it could be interesting to se how the evolution continiues, what will happen? wil we finally destroy our planet?
So it is a really tough question to give one answer to, at least from my point of view.
Interesting points Nianna, but to play Devils (sic) advocate here, what about genetic research? Could that not have the possibility of creating immortality? Finding the gene for degeneration and switching it on or off?
An interesting point, no? ;)
Orobas. Thank you, but I have always seen things from a scientiffic point of view. Lots of people, heaps smarter than I have done excellent and published research, and it is from those sources of info I get inspiration to do my own.
But still if fiction was true, and there realy was some kind of elixir of life, I bet it would outsell all other beauty products on the market within a week.
While I would hate to lose friends and loved ones, watching the passage of history and what the future will bring would make a very good argument for immortality. Since I believe in reincarnation, perhaps we have it in a way.
Nianna - I most certainly guess it would. I can see the blurb now
"NEW OIL OF OLAY - FUCK WRINKLES, AT LEAST YOU'RE LIVING FOREVER BABY!"
You know Oil of Olay would market it.
Or maybe... "LOREAL, BECAUSE YOUR IMMORTAL!"
lol
Well, in a sense, we're all immortal, just not on this plane of existance. But if you had the option, would you really want it? To be stuck in this life, watching everyone and everything you love pass by, never growing old, and to never pass on? As it is, you get to experience this plane a number of times, through a number of different perspectives, for the purpose of becoming better as a total being. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way...
I think living a century or more would be awesome but immortal---no. I would eventually go mad from the loss of everything I loved I think.
I do think our life energy does live on...just on a different plateau.
But, I do think we can leave our mark on generations to come that in a way gives us immortal fame....Vllad the Impaler, Napoleon, Hitler, Florence Nightengale, Freud..etc. Hopefully mine will be a positive mark.
The only part of us that is really immortal is our essence other then that all of us is mortal, not matter how much or how deep we wish it it dies, all that remains that is the essence of us, the source of the being the energy within ourselves, this is what remains and that gets out when we die and that can be sens and see by some but other then that nothing is immortal.
Elemental, you have hit on a good point.
Intellectual immortality - As long as there is human society, and you leave a mark, no matter how small, are you not truly immortal? Be it in your ideas, creation or invention, if you contribute in a concrete way you have achieved immortality in the eyes of your peers.
is there any thing in existence other than the immortal all-prevading spirit; every atom every thought every thing ; P
*typical me*
Thanks Orubus.
I have actually thought about the intellectual immortality before. Wondering what I could do that would bring this about...completely vain on my part but I would still like to leave something of me behind that lives on.
Would I want it? That question was easy to answer in my younger days, the answer would've been yes.
But now, it's kind of a tough question to answer. I have seen enough death and cruelty in my short lifetime to know I don't want to live forever. Would it be nice to stay forever young? Of course it would! But not at the price of watching loved ones fall or the price of watching a loved one suffer.
Immortality in the conventional sense, I think is to live forever (with or without the ability to cause your own death), eternal youth, health, etc. Personally, I would want that. Not from the fear of death, but because I have this insatiable desire to learn. I would love to literally have all the time in the world to pursue my studies, and never have to worry about anything else.
As Alphaville say's " let us die young , or let us live forever"
i feel immortality is really (past lives) and in ppl children
I feel that reincarnation is somewhat a way of immortality
I think immortality is possible, though not of the flesh. Of the spirit.
Would I want to be immortal? Absolutely. To watch the progression and evolution of the human race? things would constantly be in motion and changing.. i'd never get bored.
As said by allgenre i also think Immortality is possible by soul or spirit... Immortality in a way relates to "Ghosts", because they are stuck on this Earth and for some reason can't leave... if you can get my meaning....
Hmmm I would like to be Immortal, cause like most people I'm afraid of dying and I don't want to leave...
I dont want to live for ever this life takes alot out of me as it is, and having to bare witness to the death of my children and family would be more than i could bare.i believe that this life is just a place to learn lessons that our soul needs in order to move on to a better place, well i hope anyway since the death of my only son i want to never have to experiance that again and i know hes better where he is now.
Sorry about that.
Immotality. The ability to live forever to Age, Man or Desiece can stop you. Power that everyone on the inside wants. It is drawn to vampires because humans truley do not understand either. I do want this power. Even death is allways in my mind I simply run away from it. I will edmit I am selfish when it comes to death but truley wouldn't you be?
I don't think I would like Immortality either. To have all those around you die would be unbearable, though you may think it would not be.
Hell yeah but thats not what draws some people in it's mainly the lifestyle and just the life style and everything about it sometimes draws the most people in! Immortality...yes i would want it but it all depends on if i can give myself to something, and go on knowing that my mortal other half is gone....
I WOULD LIKE TO BE IMMORTAL OVER ANYTHING IN THIS EXISTENCE... AND YES, IMMORTALITY IS THE THING I LIKE THE MOST IN MI IDEA OF VAMPIRES.
immortality would be a curse.. because you could remain young, in apparel, forever or you could end up withered and rotting, whilst alive but unable to die... and either way you would see all of the people you care about die, and not be able to grant them imortality as you do not one them in the same fait
i would not choose imortality as if you have it and you suffer an amazing loss then you are stuck to remember that forever and never be able to be at rest
If immortality were possible in this plane of existance, I would seize it. And by whatever means I came accross this gift, I would present to those close to me. (This of course for purely selfish reasons. I would want to take something with me into eternity.)
If they so chose to decline, which I'm sure they would, I would mourne them when it was time and move on.
I'm by nature a solitary person and have very few attachments. And since I have no progeny I'd imagine that only the first 30 - 50 years might be painful. To watch friends and family pass on. However in the scope of eternity, 50 years is but a fleeting moment.
~X~
No I would not immortality! I wish so much for death to come the sweet and perfect death!~NFA
I don't think that immortality in one life time is possible, but for those who believe in reincarnation then they die, but keep coming back, making them immortal in a sense.
Imortality in the traditional sense I would not want
I believe the soul is immortal and is reborn multiple times as this perhaps explains some peoples rememberance of past lives..
Immortality would have to be of the spirit. Be it reincarnation or just transposing ones essence to another shell once the current one out lives its usefulness. Physical immortality is focused on the never changing youth and beauty. I would choose both. For myself to remember everything afore now, then to have the physical immortality to forever roam history, be history, the amount of studies that can be completed, knowledge gained through the passage of time would be invaluable and immeasurable. True the sorrow of lost love would be great but a small price for the knowledge gained.
I must say i dont believe something can live forever though if you take history and the fact that we still study those ancient civilations so in a way they still live within us today. If immortality could be described as a thought or memory that was ever existing then i believe one can live forever but only as part of history.
I believe that immortality is a big reason people are drawn to vampyres. They are afraid of death and think that being immortal will solve their problems.
But there are many ways to look at immortality. In my eyes everyone is immortal. For i believe in rebirth, karma, past lives and so forth. That the soul lives the body merely dies. That it is a vehicle to use and then you are born into a new body. (i cant remember where i heard that but it's a great example.) I think if people understood that concept they wouldt be so afraid of death.
Immortality lives in everyone. Some souls are just older than others.
-MixedBlood-
Death is a part of life; one cannot exist without the other. anyone who thinks otherwise, when you die, I'll come to your grave and say,"ya think they know now?"
I believe the same as enlightened, throught the soul it is possible. If is was possible throught the flesh though, I wouldn`t mind it ;)
Having had plenty of experience with spirit
and entities without bodies Im convinced that something of us does and can exist without a body..
Immortality...not on earth thankyou..isnt interesting enough to keep one occupied forever
Exactly. The human body is truly just a "vehicle." And sooner or later the vehicle no longer functions. But the soul, or spirit, to me is immortal, and always learning, and growing. Getting real close to reincarnation, there. Which, okay guys, I believe in.
i think immortality is you live your life as those around you wither and die. it guess it could be possible if you knew the secret to it, and that is one reason i am attracted to vampires. i mean lets face it who wants to grow old? who really wants to seek existing? who really wants to die? ( well other than those depressed suicidal types and dont get me wrong im not putting them down, but im so not one) i think it could and probably would eventually get lonely though, and might make it seem less fun, when i watched everyone i know and love pass on unless they themselves became an immortal.
well immortality is like god in a way for the simple fact of how people react and respond to it,but i think that there is a bunch aways to be immortal; one way is though peoples hearts after you die, another is in energy, i also belive that the energy thery and recarntion are almost the same thing, when you 'die' your energy becomes an unborn and you have no memory of your former life you just start fresh, theres also the classice live forever physicly one, as of me wanting it i'll say this i don't wanna die and i do wanna see what will become of the future, but i also know i can not handle all the deaths of my loved ones, and want to see the after daeth what ever it my be, and for some it may be the attraction to vampires but for me it's the mystery behind them.
if you where to look at immortality from a physics point of view then the afterlife is a certainty.... as information cannot be destroyed, and has to go somewhere then you must enter some form of afterlife.... wheather you remain aware of this, is proberly what would control becoming imortal.... but as most people on this site focus more on the spiritual side of things and not the scientific then for all intencive purposes the proberbility of being reincharnated is slim due to your memories and brain waves going anywhere within space, for all you know you may not be reincharnated on earth or evan this galaxy
Immortality is a state of being
One can be immortal in many ways
Do we agree that Vampyres in the truest sense (such as myself) are immortal ??
Then again even if i were a human i could achieve immortality by NEVER being forgotten ie Do we agree that great artists from centuries gone by have achieved immortality in their own way as we all can look at their works and they will always be household names long after people who achieve nothing are forgotten?
I would never want to be immortal in any sense of the word, it would be to painful watching every friend you had ever known die while you kept on living
to never die and eternal youth sounds very tempting.... would i want it, maybe only if i could have the one that i love with me... does i drive people looking for vampires so that they can become vampires most definetly..
i'm kinda stuck in the middle when it comes to immortality. it would be nice to have because i could take over the world and never be overthrown (killed). lol. but i wouldn't want it because i'd see all my loved ones die until i was the only one left, and that'd be way too painful for my liking.
I believe that flesh immortal beings should be left in stories. However immortal soul exist in all realities and no I personally am not drawn to vampires because of it.
What is Immortality and what can be classified as it?
I believe there are many forms of immortallity weather it is one remember for all eternity or the spirual immotrallity with a rememberance of all past lives or if it is the meshing of spirit with energy with astral and higher selves.
Is Immortality at all possible?
Where there is a will there shall be a way and there are key to everything in each religion we mearly need to seek them out.
Is Immortality what draws so many people to vampires?
The quest for immortality has been an age old process, but I do not believe it is the only things to draw creatures to vampiric types.
I think immortality would be great if I were joined with my lovely wife. If I had to go it alone, I think I would be bored with it fairly quickly (as in at least a couple lifetimes).
A double edged sword to be sure. To think of all the things one could learn and do with an unlimited life span, that would be my biggest draw into the idea of being immortal. But also as many of offered up, to still linger as all that you hold dear leaves you, dwindles and dies, that would be the reason to only live one life.
No, I do not wish to be immortal... To be able to live forever sounds tempting but think about it, to live forever, watching everything and everybody dieing and fading away... I wouldnt be able to handle it...
Would the above opinions be changed if all their friends & loved ones were immortal too ??
I would like to be immortal, because I would get to do and see all the things I desire... of course, when the planet would become unhospitable, I would have to find a way to travel to another world...but there is still time, I think...
About drawing people to vampirism for immortality, I still haven't seen any proof that this hollywood myth would be real, so we can have a real topic to discuss...so I don't think people would want to become vampires just like that...
I desire to be only what I am. I believe that is the way life is to be. I would love to live for a few hundred years but I wouldn't want to watch everyone die.
On the question of Immortality, Ruther, could it be possible to become Immortal?
Deep down the answer is simple, yes all things are Immortal and it has always been this way.
For as long as this wonder, this imaginary fantasy first crept into the mind of the evolving subconscious growing, deep within a lowly cave dweller, of millenniums past. Immortality along with the desire of not loosing though death those close to ones heart. The conquest, the search, the struggle to find a mode, a method for one to extend life not just beyond the conquering of death, but also the ability of agelessness. Has held captive the human race till the point that some, believe it can only be seen or answered as a leap of faith in a spiritual or religious sense. While others choose a path that it is the right of all, and the ultimate achievement we shall succumb too eventually.
The cold hard fact of the subject is.
“No physical object made of matter, can retain or keep its current structural shape, for an Immortal amount of time.”
Molecules at the atom stage of matter are at a constant rate of perpetual breakdown brought about by the forces of other wavelengths, around them. Within time, the smallest piece of matter to the largest of galaxies scattered around/within the Universe will sarcome to event of particle breakdown. Be it through natural behaviour or exerted upon by a blackhole or other accelerated force.
So with the facts laid out for all to see, were does that leave the human ponder and minds wonder, of topics such as Vampyrism, the Soul
or a higher Spiritual Realm?
To look into this one needs to have an understanding of exactly what makes up the physical human existence. It is known that all matter is made of atoms. And those atoms are made of quarks, and quarks are made of particles, which inturn are made up of nothing more than energy. So the physical human under
a microscope zoomed in past the Quantum stage of particles is nothing more that energy. Energy as we know contains no physical mass/matter, structure/shape or knowable presence, which any of the 5 human senses can interact with directly. How is it that humans know of energy existence if it cannot be interacted by the 5 human senses? The easiest way to explain this would be the interaction humans have with Gravity. Equations and observable experiments let us know of
gravities behaviour and presence, yet humans cannot see, touch, taste, hear or smell gravity directly. This is the same for the energy found as one zooms the microscope way beyond Quantum particles of the physical human.
This now takes one to the essence of human existence and as stated earlier, the answer, “yes all things have always been Immortal”.
The Energy that makes up the human structure is known by the name of Origin. This energy has always existed in this Universe and accentually it is the Universe, in its pure form is the answer to the age old question, (the chicken or the egg) which came first, is answered. Pure Origin is the beginning of all that is and shall be
in the universal realm of the human plain of existence. The unique and finite pieces of Origin (known as d’s matrix) are the different energies, that make up the magnitude of particles, which come together eventually forming the maze of atoms, whom eventually makes up the different molecules pertaining to the wondrous
structures found within the Universe?
At any one time dead cells are being expelled from the human body. The energy that made up these cells, could reform to become the particles of the new replaced cells or they could wonder the universe, and make up the particles that eventually form a new apple on a tree. This is the wonderment of the behaviour of one with all,
and all things are of the one, that being all is of the universe and one together.
So without dwelling further into all the scientific principles involved here, I leave you all to ponder this.
“Could the energies within d’s matrix hold DNA like memories, of what physical structure it was once part of, and bring that out into a psychological memory?”
Whatever way you choose to look at or answer the above ponderment, one thing is true, that being,” the energy that is you shall continue to be Immortal in the Universe in one shape, stage, structure or other, till Eternity is no more."

May the Heavens help mankind if I ever gain immortality! Personally I would love to, but yet I would regret ever saying such a thing. One who lives forever muc suffer watching all around them that they love grow old and die. And with each new generation, one would have to suffer that pain again. Immortality is nice, but only if you are willing to accept the consequences.
With All Due Respect,
-Lord P. D. Shadowloo
I have no choice in the matter
I accept the consequences
And look forward to spending immortality with the one i love.
~but surly, if one is immortal, why on hells earth would they want to become mortal?
At one point, they must have thoguth about this or they would not have posted on herr.
I myself, would not want to be mortal as the love of my life IS immortal and i would not want to die and be alone in the city of dust.........a lonley yard awaiting for Him when he could never come to me
Yes, immortality is the one for for me.
I think Immortality is something only in death, ie losing your mortality. But yes I think that it is eniterly possible, not really probable, but Ive seem to much wierd shit in my life that I would be a fool to say its impossible. No, I dont think that immortality is the big thing that draws people to us, i think is the power and the secretive beauty. Would I want to be immortal?...Yes, but only if I could have my love with me. Because if I cant have her for eternity, then eternity is not what I want. But, I am a knoledge whore. And think of the things you could learn over the time span of FOREVER!

How many threads on immortality do we have open here?
Immortality- to be known even when you are not around... like Cleopatra and all those guys :)
You mean the immortality of fame or legacy. I don't know that I'd care much about my legacy if I'm not 'concious' and 'alive' or at least sentient to enjoy it.
Any form of immortality is pointless unless you have the ability to be there and enjoy that experience. If you're gone, dust, in the big sleep, then how would you even know that you're still remembered or that you're legacy is indeed immortal?
I feel that immortality is achieved through re-incarnation, and is something strictly for the soul. I do not, however, believe in immortality of the physical.
I think immortality is, in large part, why people are drawn to vampires. Every human is born with a survivalist instinct so the idea of continued survival after centuries is an appealing idea. There are those who claim that they woud not want to be immortal because they would have to watch loved ones die and LordLastat had a good point in that most of them would jump at the chance of immortality if they knew they could take others with them. Immortality starts to look a little bleak when veiwed from the aspect that you'll really spend it alone. Would I want to be immortal, I suppose so. I cannot see a reason why not really.

I would say that a long life span could be possible , but immortality??? In life there has to be death. Like many things can't exsist without the other. That is what makes the world go around. It is like the theroy of the ''Yin'' and the''Yang'' . Can't have one without the other.
i think in part people are attracted to vampires by there immortality.... i don't think i would mind being immortal, but i know i don't want it....
But the common view of immortality takes on a large number of assumptions in order to be enjoyed. Firstly, when people think of immortality, they usually think of a 'stopped' aging process more than they think of simply living forever.
As we've discussed on this site, there are animals that live without dying of age but they grow and change as long as they live. That's not what we want. Then there's the scientific process by which we continue to stretch our current lives. We now can live well past our 80's and even touch 100 more often but our bodies are these frail, broken things that are hanging on by a thread.
My grandparents are in their late 80's and they continue to say how over it they are. Their weak, in and out of the hospital and in pain quite often. If we were able to live forever but our bodies continued to age, I don't think we'd want that either.
So it seems when we talk of immortality, that we've got this fantasy of remaining 25 forever (vital, young, energetic, tough). Even if we acknowledge the possibility for a longer life through genetics or other, it seems impossible to attain that dream of the unaging youth forever. It would seem that it steps from the metaphysical clear into the fantastical.
i think that most people would luv immortality to some extent
immortality is no gift.. ownly a curse..
Forever a servant and never rest..
indestructeble is another thing..
never sick, never tired, never hungry.. and never wounded..
but the gift of death when reatched the age of youre will.
not sure id want to live forever i get bored enough already
lol
xxx
With enough acquired time, one could make the signs of decay almost unnoticable.
Immortality would be great.. i would learn new languages, explore the world, i would love to be immortal
Just think how over populated we would be if Immortality happened. Animals kill off species to prevent over population its in our nature to go crazy if there is too many of one thing.
Immortality the ever knowin fact that u might never die is more than enough to drive ones many minds insane sending them collapsing ontop of each other over thy many centurys of thie undead life knowin that u cud never interact with thie mortal realm thie same again
What is Immortality and what can be classified as it?
Immortality can be thought of two ways as the physical body living forever or as the soul living for ever.
Is Immortality at all possible?
I don't think physically that Immortality is possible just because our bodies age and we have not figured out how to stop the aging process. The soul I believe is immortal. It either goes on to a type of heaven or hell or is reincarnated back here on earth.
Is Immortality what draws so many people to vampires?
I think Immortality is a part of of what draws so many people to vampires but more than immortality I think it is the fact that they believe that a vampire is forever young. Which I think is the main reason since we always seem to be searching to stay young and not age. Whether we are searching for the fountain of youth as Juan Ponce de León or trying whatever new wrinkle cream has come out saying it can eliminate wrinkles or at least reduce the appearance of them.
Would you want it???
Would I want to live forever? It would be interesting to live for ever continuing to learn and see the world. I don't think I would want it though because I would not want to see those around me die of old age. I would like to stay young and not age but still die when it is my time to go. Now if my family and friends also were immortal I might want it.
I believe when the physical body dies the soul goes on 4-ever, whether its lost in space or into another body being born. As far as wanting immortality the way I am definitely not.
BLESSED BE
On inmortality i don'tt know much but refearing to a book i have read. ( the black book of ra) it can be experianced in many different ways some belif you become an animal, some belife you return asa human. i belife that our energy reunites with all of the serrounding as you move to onhter level of living . infact that is why we see ghosts not of becouse we die but of becouse we go to onther dimension...
I think that true immortality is in the our children... they are they ones who will carry us forever.....
I deffinetely think people I like the immortality factor with 'vampires'. I personally believe the key to immortality is to live a life worth remembering. Everyone has the chance to be immortal.
i wouldn't wish immortality on anyone. there are a whole lists of problems ranging from population implusion (if many had it) or watching everyone you loved die (if you were the only one to be immortal)
I beleive that Immortality is bestowed upon us. I know I am immortal (altough I don't know how many times I died physically), but I do have deja vous, feel the hunger and especially, I mourn my childhood... which was stolen from me years and years ago. I beleive in immortality and the reanimation and incarnation of ones soul, which carries the blue prints of our lifes... the ones we remember.
I do not think immortality can be classified really. There are so many version of what immortality could be, that it's just...umpossible to classify it. I personally would not want to be immortal. The reason being is that I am here for one reason and one reason only...to serve my time here. Immortality is a sort of..interferance in that "natural" run of things. Besides, I really don't want to be here to see our economy go further into hell.
I believe that it depends on what you are considering to be immortal. Energy can never be distroyed, so it is immortal. You are essentially made up of several types of energy. Since the body does die eventually, no matter what, it is not. Some part of everyone is, though. If you are asking if people literally are, then no, but parts of them will live forever.
To live forever would be a curse for me. To have all your past regrets and suffering with you forever with no chance of escape, so awful. Dying isn't a bad thing its just a release when the troubles of this life get to much to bare.
To live forever would not be a good thing. For one every one you have ever loved would have passed away, and you would be all alone, If you found your soul mate and he/she died, wouldnt you want to be with him/her, i know i would.
