Just out of curiosity, what are some of the reportedly haunted places in your area. What are the myths and ledgends that surround them. Have you been there? What did you think? Did you attempt to collect data via EVP, Digital Camera, Mediums, Divinations, or other means? Did you get anything? Give as much detail as possible.

My grandparents house is haunted. I've felt the cold spots, heard footsteps that belong to nobody.

The Underground Seattle Tour is supposedly haunted. Never been there, and I've never caught anything

There's a bar/restaurant in Milwaukee that is in the top 100 of Amerca's most haunted places. I can't remember the name though... It started out as a factory but part of the factory burned down claiming a couple of women's lives. Then during prohibition it was a speak easy, and one night there was a "raid" and the cops wound up killing two people who are now buried in the basement. (I guess to not draw attention to the place or something). Anyway, the one time I was there I was in the ladies room and got the creepiest feeling ever. i told someone about it and they told me that where the bathrooms are is where the dead factory women haunt. Employees at this establishment have told me that when they're in the basement they feel very unwelcome and that they're being watched. Somone said something about almost feeling like they were chased out of the basement. Most people won't go in the basement alone now. The people who live on the second floor report hearing the piano playing in the wee hours of the morning when no one is there. Those are just a few of the stories i've heard, and i have no doubt that there's more. it's a beautiful place, it still looks much like it did in the 20's! but it's creepy as all hell!

I live in Lake Havasu City, Az. , home of the world fomous London Bridge. It is said that an english bobbie walks the bridge at night, and a lady in white walks the stairs. There are also a few hauntings in a hotel in nearby Oatman, Az. and, a few haunted mines out in the desert.

I lived in a house where the former tenants commited suicide. i woke up to a scream one early morning coming from the basement.i walked down the stairs to see what the comotion was.To my suprise there was lying on the the floor was what seemed to be a transparent figure of someone lying in a pool of blood with there wrists slit.I ran back up the stairs to wake my mother, She didn't believe what I was telling her. I dragged her downstairs to show her the figure. She cryed at what she had seen and a few days later we moved out from the house. A few years passed and the house remained Vacant. Finally the city came and bulldozed the house to the ground. I walked by the property a few weeks later only to feel a dark, creepy feeling of hate in my stomache.I haven't been back to the property ever since that day.

San Diego, CA is full of them that have been discussed before . . .

Los Angeles as well...all around Hollywood in the old hotels and homes, and businesses. Forest Lawn Cemetary, also has its share.

A few of us that work here at Disneyland love the tales gathered of what haunts this place...and have experienced a few of them....

A place I had my former horse stabled is deffinately haunted. Horses got sick, there were no cats or mice or rats to be found, and the dog would just sit there and you could not get it to go in. THe horses were afraid of the place as well.. It took forever to get them inside. There is man there walks around, and if you go there at night you can feel him.. Strange things has happened there. It burned down twice and after the second time they did not bother rebuild it, but the remains are still there.

It is located in a small town called Pandrup about 15 km outside Aarhus (the town I currently live in)

No one goes near that place eventhough it is only remains that stands and I will not recommendanyone going near it.

There is a story of a girl of a girl with child was murdered by her boyfriend and he threw her over a bridge on Lick Road. She still haunts the creek below and occassionally the bridge. I went on a ghost hunt there with this group called S.I.L.E.N.C.E and we got photos of orbs and our car windows fogging up. We even got some audio of what sounded like a girl screaming. My journal entry goes into detail of what I felt and went through that day.

I haven't heard of any places here that are famously haunted, however I have had some unexplained things happen in this house I live in. The owner passed away a few years back and I believe he's still here. No one smokes in the house and hasn't since he passed away... I've remodelled the entire basement and every now and again, for only 5 minutes at a time, I can smell strong cigarrette smoke... which leaves as suddenly as it comes. It's weird, coz I have no windows that function, they all were draughty and so I sealed them myself. There is no way smoke can get in the windows. I have no explanation for this and it leaves me to believe it might be paranormal...

There is a hotel in nearby Truckee that is supposed to be haunted. A friend recently described an experience when she worked there and it made me realise, that we often interpret the strangest of experiences as if we already understood the situation. She was afraid and immediately assumed that the experience she had was related to the haunting and refused to go back to her job there.

It occured to me that there were equally benevolent spirit manifestations that we may come across but in the moment of the experience, it's almost always the horror films that race through our minds and we experience fear rather than curiosity and open mindedness.

That being said, I have to admit that my personal experiences with the supernatural are apparently nil. So I haven't been able to test whether or not I'd fall victim to the same preconcieved notions that my friends have.

There is one more in Mexico somewhere. An old woman used to live there, andone day when she was in the kitchen cooking for her little grandson, the boy pointed at the floor and said, "granny what is that"

The old lady looked down at her wodden floor and there wase faces coming up of it, some looked tormented, others looked ordinary.

It freaked her out and in order to make it stop she had the whole floor breaked up and replaced with cement. It seemed to work but after a few weeks, more faces peeked through the floor.

Annoyed and scared, the old woman moved out, and noone would buy the house.

A gost haunting group called S.P.E whent to check it out but came back empty handed.

Later, when they went through the history books, they found out that the house was located on an old cemetary and the faces was believed to belong to the deceased.

Well, I live in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In our city is the original courthouse of Judge Isaac Parker. At one time, this was the last of civilized America. Any further west, and it was no man's land. The U.S. Marshalls, including the legendary Rooster Cogburn, patrooled this area, and crossed into the western U.S., to apprehend serious criminals. They would later stand trial in Fort Smith. Anyways, the courthouse is still an original structure, and stories are, you can hear and feel the prescence of the men who were put to death in the gallows here. I have been to the courthouse, and it's like instant goosebumps! Very cool.

Ok so you want to know where to go on Ghost hunts, I have seen a lot of good suggestions, but there are a whole lot that seem to be missing. There are many Civil War battlefields that are very well known and have lots of documented Supernatural Sightings. One is Gettysburg, and the other is Shilo. They are both quite large and Shilo has a 14 mile hike that you can take around the Battlefield. As for other locations, there are many battlefields around the US. I can also recommend Ft. Stevens on the Oregon Coast. The fort has been there since the time of the Civil war, and there were Oregon Expeditionary Forces stationed there during the war to gaurd the Columbia River. Lots of activity there and in the WWII vintage Fort. Just my own suggestions.

When i lived up north i could swear that there was something in my basement....well it could have just been me but there was a Indian burial ground really close. Then there was a few times when i was sleeping i would wake up and look up at the ceiling and would see alot of faces on the it. It would constantly change shape. But after we smudged the room they were gone.

My thoughts on ghost hunting is that they should just be left alone...stop poking and proding at them.

I live in South Carolina, in Charleston, and Charleston is this city with all these historic sights and buildings and stuff...Everything is really old. There's this theatre, the Dock Street Theatre, it's beautiful, but very old. I've been there for plays quite a few times. The rumor is that some kid was murdered or pushed off the balcony or something, and that when the anniversary of his death comes around, he stands on the balcony and murders the person who sits in the seat he once occupied...It's always unnaturally cold in there, and it gave me this creepy-hair-on-end feeling before I even knew of the rumor..

Heh!
My friends and I used to go 'ghost hunting'. On our way to places we'd blast the Ghostbusters theme music....because 'bustin makes me feel good' is hilarious.

Anyway, one pretty interesting place that we couldn't find because we sucked as ghost hunters, was a prison graveyard. A lot of the headstones don't have names, just numbers, and one of the headstones says something like 'Speciman' or something equally inferringly horrific.

In calgary theres a park called Heritage Park and they have old houses that are just for show.. its been told that one of them is haunted its called the Prince House. Iv been in there a few times and I remember one occurance that happened was in a room (they keep all rooms locked you can only see through the windows). There were some toy soldiers on a table once the first time i was there or something and the next time i went there they were moved on top of a different desk then the one they were originally on. I went and asked the poeple who gave tours of the house if they had moved it and why they would do that. They responded back saying that they have never moved anything around from its original spots in the house...

There is a coverec bridge around my hometown. I have been out there before. Late at night, foggy, full moon, ect. I have the ability to see spirits. I was with two friends. They dont have that ability, but both in wicca. There was alot of evil feelings there. Evil helpers from hell crawling on the side of the bridge. and yet still I was the only one to walk across the bridge by myself. I knew I was protected and couldnt be harmed. But the feelings, emotions, and senses that occured when I did walk across it was completely out of the ordinary! So many things were mixed together it was hard to decipher any one just out. It was an experience I will never forget. It was awesome!!!!

Thinking of other sites of activity in the NW, You could probably look at the Shanghi tunnels underneath Portland. Probably also include the Oregon State Capital Building. The two previous were destroyed by fire. Also Lausanne Hall on the Willamette U, campus is reputed to be well haunted. But If I were you, I would stick to Civil War Battlefields, they seem to have much more activity.

My last apartment that I was living in was haunted. Two people had died in that aparment. I could sense their spirits in the apartment. Some days or nights I would hear noises (banging, knocking, or steps). I was trying to figure out what had happened there. A girl next door had killed herself. Then there was a man who died of some health problems. I could figure out much about them.

Philly has a bunch of places - Eastern State Pent being a popular one - my fav would have to be the General Wayne Inn- don't know if it's because of what I felt and expierenced while I was there or if it's the history behind the Inn. There is a real cool Philadelphia State Hospital (Byberry) that I want to check out - it is patroled by Security 24/7, and is also routed by police regularly so this should be interesting.

There's a bridge by my house, everone calls it Black Bridge. You can't drive accross it, it's for trains; one story says that two people were to be wed in an arranged marriage, but the woman hated the man so she jumped off the bridge and drowned herself, and you can see her jump off and hear the splash. Another story is that some guy hung himself off the beams at the top of the bridge and sometimes you can see him swinging.

Another haunted spot is the old S&E building. It was a window factory, and the story goes that one of the workers died in the elevator shaft. Weird things kept happening there, and it eventually got shut down. It's supposed to be haunted by a ghost, and he likes to turn the lights on and off so that the night watchman has to run around and turn them off before he can leave.

The final spot I know of and have been to is the old Mill; unfortunately, I can't remember the story behind it.

I have only ever been to these places during the day, and I couldn't go out on the walkway to the bridge because there's construction going on. Also, both buildings are closed to the public. However, from the bridge, I was watching it and for no apparent reason a whole flock of birds flew off and circled the bridge, landing again a couple minutes later. When then flew off, I had the distinct feeling of being watched.

You could talk to me about this subject all day!!

Some of my friends and I do ghost research as often as possible. I live in Delaware, but the entire area of this part of the country, being as old as it is, is chock-full of places. Let's see there's Old New Castle in DE, the 2nd oldest settlement in the state, sarted in the late 1600's, has tons of places that're haunted, plus the oldest cemetary there, where we get orbs in pics all the time. This used to be part of PA, was where William Penn really landed an was once considered to be the Williamsburg it never was. Many of the historic homes there have tours and are haunted. I can name them later if you like. Then there's Fort Delaware- tons of spirits left there. Then, there's St. Augustine, FL...the lighthouse, the fort, and many areas around town. There's Savannah, Ga- tons of homes have stories..as well as the Revoltionary War period cemetary, and Bonaventure Cemetary. There's Fort Mifflin, near Philadelphia, Pyn Ryn, north of Philly, and New Hope, PA (which also has nice stores and places to eat or stay). New Orleans is filled with places, from the Mint, to any hotel almost you could stay at, to Congo Sq and the cemetaries (tho some could be bad at nite=muggings or murders). There's Harpers Ferry, camping is available and the woods are supposed to be haunted. Getysburg is always a good choice, try devils den, the most active battlefield in my opinion. Baltimore has a cemetary with Edgar Allen Poe's grave that's supposed to have a few ghosties., plus a mysterious visitor around his birthday. OK I could go on but thats enough for now.

There are tons of places in my area that are said to be haunted but I've never invested the time to go out to any of them with my video gear. I suppose that maybe over the winter, I could put together a small expedition and do something along the lines of what they do on ghosthunters.... who knows, matybe I'll get a show on cable if I do.

Pawley's Island, South Carolina - Pelican Inn - An old woman used to live here and take care of the Inn...she had two Boston terrier dogs that used to play in the surf. One day there was a little kid who swam out to far and one of the dogs went out to get him...brought him back in and saved the boys life. The dog got sick and soon passed away. The other dog was heartbroken that he had lost his playmate. The dog soon died and now the two dogs can be heard or sometimes seen when the sun goes down on the beach.

also i have had many pictures taken of me where gray/silver orbs show up. and to my knowlege that is how ghosts show up in pictures

The canyons(mountains) about a half hour from my house are suppose to be haunted. There's this hole in one side of the canyon called the devil's kitchen where if you stay in there long enough the devil will come and visit you. he is suppose to have come out of the shadows and sit by you. I went in there before but i guess i didn't stay in there long enough because i never saw him.

Thanks beloved. I know of a few more other places I remembered anyway. I know that the Supersition Mountains are supposed to be haunted by some minors, who supposedly found gold, but hid it so that others may never get their hands on it.

Then in Gold Canyon, somewhere near Apache Junction, by Kings Ranch Resort. There is a path that leads to some bat caves, and sacred ground. If you go to the sacred Indian grounds you can see the Indians in the evemomg or something. They also say there has been many who never return back from the sacred grounds.~NFA

Since you want info on local public places, instead of private homes and such, here is some info on 2 of the most famous haunted places around this area. First is in St Louis, it's called the Lemp Mansion. It was built in the 1860s. A family lived there and decided to start a family owned beer brewing company. The history goes on, and most of the family ended up commiting suicide there. It is now a Bed & Breakfast. The second is the Crescent Hotel, I used to live close to the Arkansas border and wanted to go there, but sadly I never went :( A show called Ghost Hunters actually went there, and found very good evidence of a ghost. Some of the rooms are much more haunted than others. Many people died there, and the most tragic hauntings started to happen when a guy took over the place, he claimed he had a cure for cancer
and it turned into a health resort for cancer patients. Many years later when remodeling was done, there was found over a dozen skeletons in the walls, and it is said that there is jars of preserved body parts that have still not been found to this day. Here are some sites where you can find more info

Two of my previous homes have been haunted as well as a rather old cemetary located 25 mins from my current residence (when i'm home from college). I have both heard and seen the spirits. I don't have photographic evidence because I've never been that interested in proving to others what I have seen. Especially considering that a number of reactions I would recieve would be skeptical.

Cessnock Jail
and
Maitland Jail

They are both suppose to be haunted. My pop use to work at both and during night shifts he'd hear footsteps but no one would be there, and it was very cold and other stuff like that.

Apparently a lot of people have died there.

They have night tours at Maitland Jail, very scary.

The town I live in is highly hunted.
There is a battlefield nearby in which over 6,000 men were killed in 3 days.
I have done readings there and have brought others there to see what they could find. The area has also been used my criminals to commit rapes etc, once you step into certian spaces you can taste the fear and pain.
Over the past several months the area has become extremly unsafe and I do not allow anyone that I know to go there before 5am or after 6pm.Yet as is often the case with people 2 associates and 1 friend of mine went, she totally disobeyed what I had requested.
They went to the battle ground at around 10pm and got less than 1/5 mile into it when all the sudden they were attacked by a huge force. One of the guys that was there was thrown on the ground and stoped breathing, my friend was pushed aside by the other guy as this spirit came towards them. The spirit left and a few minutes the one who was attacked came around. They brought him to my home and told me what happend. I placed my hand on his back and followed his energy through to the battle ground, where I found the spirit holding on to him, a rush of energy hit me like a brick. After a few moments I was able to disconnect them, and it was over.

There are few places here, in Devon, that are considered haunted. The most famous is Berry Pomeroy:

Berry Pomeroy is a village and civil parish in the South Hams district of Devon, England, about two miles east of Totnes. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 973. Berry Pomeroy is part of the Totnes constituency, although is in fact larger than the neighbouring town (in terms of the geographic size of the parish, not of course, comparative population).

Berry Pomeroy Castle, which can be found in Berry Pomeroy has often been cited as being the most haunted castle in Britain. The most famous ghost in residence is the White Lady. The castle is owned by the Duke of Somerset, however its upkeep is maintained by English Heritage. The castle was considered a 'romantic ruin' by the Victorians and a tragic love story involving Margaret, Eleanor and a handsome knight is based around the castle. The castle appeared in a recent BBC timewatch documentary "White Slaves and Pirate Gold". The contemporary British television show Most Haunted have also made a visit to the site.

St. Mary's Church, in the village centre features in the final wedding scene of Ang Lee's film Sense and Sensibility, was once visited by William III and visited more recently by the Duke of Kent. Berry Pomeroy's Parish Council meets at the Village Hall, next to Berry Pomeroy Parochial Primary School. To celebrate the turning of the millennium in 2000, a nice new bench was erected opposite the War Memorial. Every summer, there is held a fete in the grounds of the manor house next to the church, where Maypole Dancing, Devonshire Cream Teas and a Coconut shy may be enjoyed. American soldiers were stationed in the village in the build up to D-Day and were billeted in tents opposite the church. American veterans revisited Berry Pomeroy for the 60th anniversary of the invasion.

In my town specifically there was a girl who was hit by a car on her way to pipe band. She later died in the hospital.

Now, as the story goes, every so often at the place where they practiced you can hear pipes playing even when no one is around. Once or twice people have even claimed to see her standing there.

I have never seen/heard this myself.

Here is another place in Devon said to be haunted. It is also said to have been visited by the Devil, himself: Dartmoor.

Dartmoor abounds with myths and legends. It is reputedly the haunt of pixies, a headless horseman, a mysterious pack of 'spectral hounds', and a large black dog. During the Great Thunderstorm of 1638, Dartmoor was even said to have been visited by the Devil.

Many landmarks have ancient legends and ghost stories associated with them, such as Jay's Grave, the ancient burial site at Childe's Tomb, and a rockpile called Bowerman's Nose.

A few stories have emerged in recent decades, such as the 'hairy hands', that are said to attack travellers on the B3212 near Two Bridges. Several motorists have claimed that the hands materialised in front of them, grasped the wheel and forced their vehicle off the road - although others believe that the loss of control is more likely to have been the result of subsidence of the road surface.

Dartmoor has inspired a number of artists and writers, such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in The Hound of the Baskervilles, Eden Phillpotts, Beatrice Chase, Agatha Christie and the Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould.

Here is a haunting I learned about in my area: TIVERTON CASTLE

Was reputably built by the 1st Earl of Devon Richard de Redvers throughout the reign of Henry the 1st. It was one of the most important castles in Devon and home to the Courtney Earls until the reign of Henry VIII when the then Earl was killed and confiscated the lands in 1539. The castle was dismantled following the civil war and only parts of the original 14th century structure remain. As previously stated the Courtney family lived at the castle and it is believed that one of the family a young girl still walks there today.

It is alleged that a young bride whilst playing hide and seek within the castle took shelter within a large carved chest. The spring bolt was said to have locked her within and she eventually suffocated and died. The body was alleged to have been found many years later.

The girl is said to walk in the area of the Tower, Chapel and Gateway and many people who visit the castle can sense her presence there.

Well my frien lived in a house that was haunted. I guess years ago it used to be a school that had burned down. The kids had fear of this man they used to call the Boss Man. Well in this home they would hear children or see things that werent there. One time they came home to thousands of flies lying on the hallway floor. . They took pics and It couldnt be explained. Other time windows in the basement were sealed closed and then some how re opened. Eventually this house burnt down the same as the school. But they moved out because there was a time when my firiend had her boyfriend over and he was shoved by something and flew accross the room. They left the house and it eventually burnt down.

When I was in my home town there was this old house in a park called "Spring Villa". The house was old American arcitecture, likely built in the plantation era. Upstairs in the house was boarded off, and the people running the park refused anybody to go near it. The story was a man and his wife got in an argument in the house, the wife went crazy, and killed the husband. Upstairs was boarded off because of the blood stains on the walls. Across the street was a very wooded area, where the husband's mutilated body was apparently buried. This area was also forbidden. We used to sneak on the property as children and try to catch a peak...one night we were at the house..and we could have sworn there was a bloody axe on the kitchen table. Very freaky.

Well for starters there is the Penn Prison. You might have seen it on TAPS.
But for a more personal place there is what used to be my grandparent's house. My grandparent's were actually the second owners of the home and this was back before automobiles were common place. Many of the houses including this one still dont have proper drive ways. LOL.

Anyway, My father told me about a border who died in the middle bedroom upstairs. And while he claims itrs my grandmother walking the hallway I think its the border.

There is also this weird creepy "I'm watching you" feeling in the basement. I didn't get this anywhere else so don't think its my imagination.

Plus about 3 months ago (last time I was there) I heard a dog bark inside. What so odd is that it sounded like our recently deceased yellow lab Beau. Once you have a dog, you know their bark inside and out. While beau had been battling doggy diabeties he actually passed from a blood clot to his brain. sad, but if it was him, its nice to know he's guarding the place.

I recently got a digital recorder to collect sound for my cartoons. I've been seriously tempted to go over and take EVPs but at the same time, a little concerned at just who I'll be contacting. If and when I do it I promise to post any finds in my journal.

Here is yet another place in Devon that is haunted. Though there is bit more as you will see at the end.

SHEBBEAR THE DEVILS STONE INN

The Devils Stone Inn is situated in the heart of the ancient village of Shebbear North Devon. A former 17th Century Farmhouse it was converted to a Coaching Inn 400 years ago. Reputed by some to be one of the 12 most haunted pubs in England (Teachers Ghost Huntclub 1982). Former employees have alleged that many strange goings on have occurred at the pub particularly throughout time of change or refurbishment.

Taps have in the past been found running, beds unmake themselves, pictures are found on the floor and windows are flung open. Loud footsteps are often heard on the landing although no one is resident in the guest rooms.

Shebbear is located some 8 miles north east of Holsworthy and 8.5 miles south of Torrington. The village runs east-west in linear from with the village green, church and the Devils Stone Inn located to the west.

Shebbear is an ancient village with ancient customs! Shebbear was once a Royal Manor held for some time by Harold the last of the Saxons. The Norman Church of St Michael's and All Angels not only had links with Torre Abbey but is suspected of having a tunnel to the Devils Stone Inn.

On November the 5th of every year the villagers of Shebbear prepare to turn the Devils stone which is over 6 feet long and weighs in at over a ton. The stone is not local and no one really knows how it found its way to Shebbear. The bells are rung at the local church in discord at 8pm which signifies the turning which once complete will ensure the safety of the village for yet another year.

my grandparents, my parents and even my aunt's houses are all haunted. my grandparent's house someone pinches, pulls covers off the bed and sits on the bed. my parent's house has the spirit of a little girl who likes to hide in their bedroom's closet, she also takes things and replaces them when given a toy. as for my aunt's house my cousin had made a ragdoll in the 7th grade, it started talking saying hello. my aunt creeped out by this threw it in the trash outside it somehow got back on her bed 1/2 hour later saying hello again. she burned it.

There are quite a few, but one holds a dear place in my heart for a reason I do not know. I spent so much time researching the place once I moved here initially, felt a kinship to it. Anyway
Seclusival, the old slave house.
A few of the ghosts there-
the Hamlin daughter and her baby. She was impregnanted by a slave who worked for the house. Her father closed her up in an attic room with her child, so she would not have access to the slave, who was hung. She flung herself with her child out of the attic window in grief.
The boy on the stairs (a personal experience) a little boy fell down the stairs, dying. It is said (and I have witnessed) that the boy can be heard and felt running up and down the stairs.
The man behind the house- When you are alone behind the house, you seem to feel as if someone is walking up behind you, even though there is no one there... again, one I have experienced.
The tunnel-there is a tunnel under the house, rumored to have been a part of the underground railroad, actually a tunnel to get slaves back and forth without the heat affecting them. If you walk halfway through, whatever light you have on you, be it lighter, candle, flashlight, latern etc, goes out, but take one step back, it lights itself again.
I am certian there are others, those are ones I have heard.

The college- There is a college near here, at various times during the night you can hear the piano being played in the fine arts building, only no one is there, apparently a woman died there who loved the piano.

Those are just some.

There is A LOT of haunted places in Michigan. I have been to quite a few. The one that mostly sticks out in my mind is the haunting of the Ada Witch. Her grave is located just on the outside of Grand Rapids in Lowell.

It is said that she haunts the graveyard. Which is true. I have seen her 3 times on one occasion. She is also called the lady in white. The tale also says that if you drive down the road near her resting place a blue orb will appear on the side of the road. Along with a mist on a clear night.

The story behind the Ada Witch.

She was married. In the middle of the night she would run off and meet her lover in the woods. One night her husband followed her. There was a struggle between the two men. It came around to all of them dying.

I have walked the woods a few times at night with people. We have experienced some freaky stuff.

There is a bridge that leads to the trail in the woods. Over the bridge was a HUGE log. Something that would have been hard for people to put over the bridge. The other side in the woods was quiet. Until people tried to cross over the log. Then the other side came to life. Animals cried, birds made a ruckus, splashes where happening in the water. We left that night and went back later.

The next time we walked into the woods. There were stones being thrown at our feet, it felt like someone was walking right next to you, owls were making distress calls, and you could hear crying throughout the woods. When reached the spot where the struggled happened and it was atleast 10 degree's hotter there than anywhere else. There is also a clearing surrounded by tree's where you can stand and yell and the person just outside cannot hear you. There are orb's that will try to lead you off the trail into the woods. They are clearly visible by the naked eye. You can hear footsteps walk next to you off the trails.

On the right night, it can be VERY active and interesting. If you ever question about when it's time to leave, YOU will KNOW. There is no doubt about that.

Bodmin Gaol, the former County Prison, was built in 1777 and replaced the old Debtor’s Prison (now the Hole-In-The-Wall Public House). The Prison was rebuilt in the 1840s and again in the 1850s each time increasing in size as the population grew. A grand total of 55 hangings took place of which 51 were public hangings. The last public hanging took place in 1909 prior to the prison’s closure in 1922.

During the First World War, the Domesday Book, and it is said by some, the Crown Jewels, were amongst the treasures entrusted to Bodmin Gaol for safe keeping.

The Ghosts of Bodmin Gaol are varied in the nature and manifestation. Eerie sound of footsteps and rattling keys are accompanied by inexplicable voices and misty figures often seen roaming on balconies and cells high above. Visitors are always struck by the feeling of misery and sadness that seemed to fill the air and be contained in the walls. Truly an atmosphere of death is encased in the structure.

Some of the people who apparently still haunt the Gaol to this day include:

Matthew Weekes who was hanged at the Gaol for the brutal murder of Charlotte Dymond. It’s believed that he haunts the gaol because he was innocent.

Selina Wadge was hanged by William Marwood on the 15th August 1878 at Bodmin for the murder of her illegitimate son. Its often reported that to this day she tries to grab young children or put her feelings of remorse on pregnant women.

William and James Lightfoot, who were hung for the murder of Nevell Norway. William admitted the brutal murder of Nevell in which he repeatedly hit Nevell with the butt of his gun until he died before dumping him in a nearby river.

Anne Jefferies, was ordered by Bodmin’s High Court to be starved until she confessed that she was a witch. Her survival without nourishment for three months was cause for wide speculation and furore, and it was suggested that she had supernatural powers. She died naturally but her spirit is still said to roam the jail.
