I'm just really curious to see what people think about it.

I've heard that deja vu is when we parallel our past lives and get that feeling. I've heard that our dreams are memories from our past lives.

I believe in reincarnation...so I'm very interested in what you have heard or what you think.

Well, "deja vu" can be quite adequately explained. The mind is a complicated, funny, very easily fooled thing.

My mind is not one that is able to wrap around reincarnation well, I see too many holes.

But if I did live a past life, what does it matter now? the past is what is left behind, I am me. (I am not saying that is all reincarnation is about, thank you)

I believe that reincarnation is a possibility. But perhaps not everyone is reincarnated. Maybe it is only those who have so messed up that they must live again to correct their mistakes. Or, maybe it is those who lives were so exemplary that they live again in oder to help out others.

I totally believe in reincarnation..to me, this plane is like school. You dont learn and evolve by just going to Kindergarten.
I know of past lives I have had..The problem I find is when ppl say..oh I was Cleopatra, Napoleon, some king,queen blah blah blah
This almost inverily happens when one is unhappy with this life and need to feel important. problem is..so what? It doesnt matter who u were, its who you are now and what you do with your life. The who you were's are supposed to help you evolve spiritually. But the REAL who you were, not the glorified person you want it to be.

I attend a Spiritualist church, recarnation is definite in what I and the members believe in. There are very good mediumns there, that have brought me messages through loved ones that I only knew, and they had no idea, who these people were to me. Described them to a tee, people who had long passed over before I even attend the Church. Just thought I would add my two cents.

If indeed people are reincarnated, it is a 95% chance that you were one of the poor, unknown people that make up most of the world's population.

Even if someone doesn't claim to be someone famous, they always claim to be someone at least moderately interesting.

I believe that the genetic memories may explain a lot that may appear to be reincarnation. Not to open myself up for a firestorm of critical comments because I surely do NOT intend to offend. I neither have all the answers.

I do believe in reincarnation. Some have been what are called 'old souls' and others either in their first or few of their lives perhaps yet to come.

Also believe that if something is left undone or a wrong done, can come back to right it and that souls in one life can gravitate to the others in another that have a very strong connection.

Reincarnation is a tricky subject because many different cultures believe in a form of reincarnation. Some believe that we come back as a lesser or a higher form of creature based on how we live THIS life. That is called transubstantiation. Until we are able to be "good" and gain total enlightenment were we become "angels" or pure energy.
Others believe that we always come back as humans, simply given different social status' based on how we live this life.
And again others believe that we simply do not come back at all...we are blinked out of existence.
I personally believe that we simply come back, no conditions, we just die in one place and are reborn in another and a chosen few of us remember flashes of our past lives.

I agree with most of what has been said above, amny have commented that i have a very old soul despite being still relatively young for this world (31).

Wither what we are or happens to us in this life is a result of what we done ion a past life is hard to say. So we do the best we can and live our lives the best we can, and hope that were on the rigth bath or at least not to far from it...

well spoken Soullie...i do believe in it but when it all comes down, why does it matter except for losing the fear of death. Doesnt matter what u used to be, what matters is what u do with THIS time around

Here's a crack at my theory:

Since, genetically speaking of course, we have proven DNA strands absorb and retain new information through time, thus, allowing evolution. Time heals all wounds, huh?! Okay, evolution being said, I now mean to say on a metaphysical level there seems to be no reason for the same argument to exist. Our minds are DNA srands -- we already know humans are hardly close to their maximum mental capacity -- what if, the reason for memory of past lives to be lessons carried over...like, don't touch the fire...be weary of the ocean (though it's beautiful)...

I believe in past lives because I believe we are meant for something more than just be born, become acclimated to routine and then die. There seems to be another element missing but we won't attain it until we get past all the "baby steps" we have to take...

i said in another thread about living and death, that i dont believe i past lives but i dont despise those who do. You are all entitled to your own opinions.

I don't believe in reincarnation but like in another thread I posted in you can always read up on it. I find studying to be very helpful in proving right from wrong. It is hard to say if something like this is real but there isn't really much else you can do. Everyone has their opinions.

One person I know of that has a lot of opinion on a matter like this is Sylvia Browne look her up she has a lot of books out about ghosts, psychics, past lives, spirits and a lot more.

The soul DNA can mutate, and then your soulk can change. But we have one soul until that point. The soul is right behind where the tiara would lie, right there. DNA mutations happen all the time all over the body, but to be reincarnated in a new body with a different soul we need the tiara to mutate. That is like being struck by lightning.

i do belive in reincarnation ....... my grandfather was a big beliver in it.... he always said in his next life he wanted to be a bird..........he would sit for hours watching birds and would always be out feeding them and putting up new birdhouses in the backyard he even had a feeder set up so he could sit in his recliner and watch them out his front room window....... that next year after his death there was a bird who would show up and peck at the frontroom window were he used to sit .... we used to say grandpa got his wish and he came back to see us...........

Very well put, Skylla... I agree completely with you. I want to add more on peoples claim to past life fame though. I just want to put out there that sometimes it is not the person remembering their own past life, but a medium telling them of it... such as Sylvia Browne or Patricia Humphrey (a less well known medium, but of the same caliber)

I do agree that the majority of times people say they remember part of their lives they're just sort of making it up, or they just are thinking of something else...

I don't think deja vu comes from past life, rather half-remembered 'psychic' dreams.
Having said that yes, I believe in reincarnation -- that there are old souls and shiny new ones. I don't think one could remember a past life without 'permission' from a higher being (whatever you see that being to be).

Skylla: I watched this thing once, about a guy who was having nightmares about drowning and he had an intense fear of open ocean. He was hypnotized and the man who hypnotized him tried to tease out what had happened in his most recent past life. To make a long story short, he supposedly had drowned on the Titanic... I see what you mean, about remembering a past life...

I didn't always believe in reincarnation but it just makes sense to me now... there is so much more to humans and animals then just a body and a brain, I can't believe that all of that personality and energy just blink out...I don't know...

I myself have recolections of past lives. they bleed into this one and it can get confusing some times

Kytrin, sorry for the delay on specifying genetic memories. Was following other thread and gathering to celebrate Yuletide. My thoughts are that we carry traits in an our ancestry that may explain a lot about our interests and abilities. I don't have all of the answers, but I do believe much of who I am today has been both physically and spiritually past down through my clan. I'll check back for latter responses.

I believe in the past lives but only under some circumstances. For example if someone dies and they have unfinished business I think then they can be reincarnated. Also if the person chooses to return to earth. But there is also the possibility of sprits passing onto other bodies. And becoming part of that other human being.

I beleive our dreams can show us some aspect of our past lives, and even point us in the right direction, if we need it.
But every dream I have does not relate to a past life. I don't think every one of us dreams every single dream involving our past life/lives.

Let's see... reincarnation. I believe in it. It is hard not to. If you look into certain people from the past, you can see how much they relate to certain other people who come later and though they have no recollection of the other person or even know of them, they are like the same person and follow in the same path that they did.
Also, for those spiritualists and believers in higher powers (I'm a believer myself, but I believe in them all), I believe that there is only a set number of souls. And when someone dies, that soul is past on. It's like how a sociologist would group people, some people are just the same as others. There are so many people on this planet that everyone can be placed in a group with others similar to them. I believe that because there are so many people, souls have literally been cut up so that there is enough to go around, thus the groups of people. I believe that yes, you will move on to another life, but not your soul. Human bodies play no part in this, they are merely vessels for souls. Souls live forever, they mark who you are. And who knows if they will ever move on to a better life or just go on living the same old cycle, being recycled as another human or otherwise every few decades. Perhaps some souls even reach their peak and go to Heaven or Hell :)
Deja vu. I can say this happens to me all the time. The dreams that I cannot remember in the morning are where they come from. Something happens that day that triggers them and I get confused, because in my head, this has already happened and I already have memories of it.
I believe that people do inherit certain traits in DNA. Like the saying goes, like mother like daughter, or like father like son, its hard not to be like your parents. But in a larger whole, you seem to be just like those in previous generations. You may stray from that and start something new for coming lines, though, and that creates diversity. Ever wonder why you have a completely normal family and one oddball?
Past lives... that's an easy one. Since I can remember, I've always had dreams of past lives. I've never been anyone famous. I've always been nobody, but I've played parts. I know who I am and what I'm meant for. I don't agree with the Bible and I don't follow any religion, but I believe in the higher powers and fate and how everything is connected and meant to happen. I except everything is how it is meant to be, no matter how unsettling it may be. I take the good with the bad. About religion though, I believe in Heaven and Hell, and God and Satan. Lucifer is my favorite Fallen Angel (he and Satan are two different entities, it was a missunderstanding in Matthew that led to that mix up). I have a different theory about how that played out. I'm writing a novel about it, actually. Just my dreams on paper though.

I very much believe in past lives .... I have had the whole deju vu thing many times and it still scares me ... I believe we all have had past lifes but don't really remember any of it unless something triggers our mind to it....

I live past lives through my dreams. And in them, I am conscious of who I am (though I don't know that person) and I know what I'm doing. I'm awake in dreams and I think about what I am doing or saying, but I already know what to say before the person asks it, because it's already happened and I'm just playing the part. I wonder sometimes if I really sleep or if I just visit the past...

I believe in past lives, I think sometimes we accidently carry some memories over when we come back. I have a theory on that but I don't wish to offend anyone.
But here it goes, and please this is just my own thoughts on this.
Regarding gay men and woman. Most people believe gay people wake up one day and decide to be. I think that is so incorrect. I believe in one life they are of the opposite sex, and when they are reborn. They pull some of their past life with them. The memories, genes or something. I believe one is born gay, they aren't created or decide one day.
I think it goes along with, if you were an asshole in a past life, you will reap what you sew in this one. Everything needs a balance and lessons are to be learned.
So that is my thought. Please, I don't wish to offend..My own personal thoughts.

Ah, something I forgot when I was ranting... I do believe that souls can be split in two. How can it be explained when 2 people share so much in common? For instance, have you ever thought of soul mates? People who are simply meant to be together? They feel like they are looking at themselves or something. For instance, my boyfriend and I, no word of a lie, have so much in common that even though he's lived over seas and we have only just met a few months earlier, have had so many similar experiences. For instance, growing up, we both ended up breaking our ankles the same month and we both ended up doing the same thing while waiting around in bed - we read the Harry Potter series, and get this, we'd both borrowed from our sister who only had the books around for show. We think along the same lines though, at first it was really creepy, we'd be talking to each other and even though we'd just met, we were finishing each others sentences. And then, if one of us would be hesitant to say something, for some reason the other was thinking the exact same thing and would voice it. Weird? I think so, I'm only now getting used to it. It's pretty nice. I think at one point in history we were the same person :)

I both believe in past lives and believe in reincarnation... the way I see it there are so many lessons that we have to learn and experiences both good and bad that we need to go through...it would be imossible to learn them and experience them all in one life time...so I feel like there has to be more...

I believe in reincarnation, maybe for someone my thoughts regarding reincarnation are childish... But their are my believes...
So reincarnation for me is needful proces for human, because from my experiences, human isn't capable to accept all the knowledge in one life (ok maybe he can learn everything but he can not make all that knowledge to work in practise) there for he has so many lifes as much as he needs to pass these level only by learning things and practising that knowledge... As human pass in another life in his soul stays the trail of the old knowledge that he has learnt in past life, but that knowledge has to be refreshed, which can be done by knowing the past life and his present life...

hmm, well I'm just curious about the "meeting up with people we are sure we know but have never actually met before that moment" question... This happens to me sometimes. But it's not on-contact that I wonder how I know them. I dream of people I am going to meet, whether it be a relative I've never known, a store clerk, a student, whatever, if they are going to play some part of my life, I meet them in my dreams first. But I don't remember them on waking, it's days later, months sometimes, even years past that I actually come across them, and then it just clicks into place, I know who they are and can actually walk right up to them, extend my hand to shake and be like, "How are you Dave?" Or whatever their name might be. It's freaked a few people out, some person coming out of the blue and all, knowing exactly who they are, but then it falls into place and everything works out like it did in my dream-memories.
But for those who experience past life memories, maybe you knew them last time and your souls were drawn together again :)

Well I know about past lives personally, since I have had visions in broad daylight, while driving to work. One of the almost caused me to have an accident....My gf has deja vu all the time, and I consider that as being on the right path that you are going....you continue to have deja vu then you are on the right path...

Im joining this discussion at a late stage, and everything has already been said more or less on the subject.

Past lives is a tricky business, either u believe, or u dont believe. Or u can sit on the fence, and depending onthe argument sway to either side.

For me personally, yes i do believe in past lives. i mean, there is no sense to some of the things we experience in life. i have strong senses of deja vu, specifically about places, that my parents has assured me we have never been. i scared the living daylights out of them a few years ago, i was about 10, when we drove pass an inn and i insisted that i've been there before, and i described the inn to them in perfect detail. To prove me wrong, they pulled over and we went to go and have lunch there. UPon walking in, my description rang true, and i got some real funny looks from them for a while.

So, if past lives isnt the explanation for the "memory" of the inn, how would we descripe it. Like someone already said, genetic memory? Maybe, but for me its an experience from another life.

We grow in each life we live, striving to reach something elusive. i use the term elusive since the gods alone know what we are striving for.

That's my personal view. Past lives, reincarnation, hell yes, it does exist. Look at ur eastern religions, they take it to the extreme, by saying that u can be reincarnated as an animal, any animal, but i dont feel that the soul has the capacity to change to that degree. Once it has evolved to human form, its logical that its next incarnation will be either a human, or something higher. Just dont ask me what, since i wont be able to answer that.

i once herd a thery on dejavu it was when we chose to come back and wanted to experience certain things in this life.... example say the last life you wanted to die as a small chiled say with cancer . in this life you wanted to die in a more tragic way say plane crash or such...... and yet wanted to experience certain things and learn certain things along the way you never got to experience before.... when you get dejavu its a way of letting you know that your task our on track that you picked out in this lifetime.... i always thought it was a neat thery on dejavu although i do belive in past lives and reincarnation..... i dont think it will be one thats gonna be figured out... but ther are many diffrent theries on this subject that are fasinating.....

I don't like to believe in stuff I cannot prove. Yet, I have had weird unexplainable events happen which leave me to wonder (until I can find an explanation worthy, which will get me to change my opinion).

I have dreamt of worlds from many different time periods, worlds I could not possibly have visited. I've had dreams where I lived in a village, where people lived in huts or adobes made from sticks and animal hide. My clothes were also made from animal furs and crudly woven fibres, probably horsehair. My shoes were made from leather, fur turned inside and tied with twine around my legs. That wasn't so amazing... what impressed me, was I was amongst people who were speaking a language I don't recognize, and I fully understood everything they said in this language, until the moment I woke up and those same words no longer made sense to me.

Other dreams I've had where I died, countless times in many different ways, drowning, burned alive, fallen from great heights, eaten alive, being shot, etc etc, the list goes on and on. Each one of these, could be a different past life my soul (for lack of a better term) has led. I also wander a lot in my dreams as well, travelling from place to place. Heck, I've even dreamt things and then weeks or months later I actually experience them (at that point I feel déjà-vu)...

Are these strong memories from lives that have been lived long ago or am I merely dreaming things because my mind just does that? I cannot say for sure.

Still the notion of past lives intrigues me a great deal and I would love to know more about it. :)

I diffentaly believe in reincarnations.My friends think I am a reincarnation of The Malacor Bloodline's last decenant which her name Is Sakura Seiya Malacor....Also they think I am the reincarnation of a fallen Angel named DeannaDrea' Alliyson Waters aka Destroyer Angel(Angel Of Destruction)..I believe that cause there is such things as reincarnations as well.Even though my stupid ass religion doesn't support it..I say whatever...Overall I believe in it.

I'm not 100% sure if I believe in reincarnation or not, but there is good proof that that it's possible and that it isn't. I'll just sit on the fence for a while.

Sakura, perhaps we were Angels together at the beginning of time. You say you are, dark, are you saying you took the fall? I believe my first life is that of an Angels. My dreams show me things about the beginning. I believe I was a Watcher Angel, one that recorded human history and when I came down, I continued with my job - I have memories from a looong time ago - a reason why I believe strongly in past lives and reincarnation. I was killed and since then I've lived countless times. I've always died on my 18th birthday. But this time I wont. My unknowing betrayal is to be forgiven.

I do believe that dejavue is when we have experienced the same events or similar events in a past life. However, as far as the dream portion is concerned I would have to contradict this theory, at least from my experiences.

I know that many of you may not believe this; however, when I have dreams that I am able to remember they are not dreams of the past, they are dreams of future events. Every dream that I have ever had has come to pass, which in a way is scary to even me.

The biggest problem that I have with having these types of dreams is that they don't always give me the complete picture and I never know when the event is actually going to occur. Sometimes the event happens an hour after I get up and other times it happens years later.

Could it be possible that dejavue is us recalling our dreams of the future?

NCBandit I believe you are correct. I think dreams prepare you for deja vu or is at least the reason why people experience it.

I believe in reincarnation. However, I have never heard of dreams being your past life memories. It is a big possibility. I guess that explains why some of your dreams are just too real for words.

Some people can remember their past lives. Unfortunetly, I am not one of those people. Sometimes, I catch glimpses of things that could be memories. Or they could just be random images.... I don't know but I would LIKE to know.

Perhaps if you open yourself up more for it to slip through, you will catch glimpses of before :)

Deja vu could be a sign of slight psychic knowledge of the future. As far as past lives, I don't have any memories of a past life. However, I've recently met this person that I feel so connected to but we've only known each other for maybe 2 days. His theory was that we knew each other in a past life so past lives definitely seem like a distinct possibility.

Since I believe the soul lives on after death, yes there is a chance we have all lived past lives. I do get a little turned off by all the people who have claimed to have been somebody famous.

I have often wondered about people who seem drawn to a certain time in history. Maybe they lived during that time.

once again..the important thing about past lives is NOT who or what you were. It is the knowledge you gained in that life to be used to better understand and live this one. Any time someone tells me I was this or that famous, rich. etc I just ask them..ok where does that leave you now. what did u learn from that if anything..how is it going to help you in this life.. today... the need to drop the I WAS is impt. change it to I AM..(you can even throw in there, because I was, if ya want) then what u learned from it. easy example..I WAS an ass..now I AM not because I learned that it isnt a good thing to be.. Plus, if you think about it, "I used to be queen so and so..now I live in a one bedroom apt..." most leave that last part off.. how the heck many kingdoms were there to have the required number of "Queens/Kings" that are alive today. Reincarnation Is it feasible yes is it possible maybe how could it be then you ask. Well the body is only a husk that carries the real being or as some say the soul. It is a totally spirit being from the body and goes on even after the body dies. The part I can not understand is why? You may ask what I mean about Why? Well sure there are things I would like to do over and things I have not tried yet. But why stay and relive things when one can move on and explore something new? I have found from personal experience dreams are not past lives just future event and thoughts played out in the mined to give use a chance to decide what we truly wish to do in what is to come.

I do believe that it is more important to take your knowledge of past lives and use it to improve the life you live today. And that it is less important to know who you were specifically. Nobody cares that you were so-and-so in a past life, you aren't anymore.

I belive in rencarnation and I wounder if my life was better in my past life

I definitely believe in reincarnation. I also believe in deja vu. I have had many recurrences of my of my past lives. I know many don't believe it but I think because they haven't opened their mind enough to the concept. When I have deja vu I see images of myself in different situations that are very realistic. I am also usually a guy and I have never wanted to be one lol. Could it be possible that I have invaded someone else's past life memories? I don't think i have. But I also have premonitions. My premonitions usually come true.

I believe very strongly that you can see things in this life that you have seen before at some other point in time a past life for example. and even meet people that you know you have known before.

i very much believe in past lives, since may awakening several years ago..my dreams are usually from my past lives, and have waking dreams as well.With increase in my mediatation and other magicks, lucid dreaming is possible while awake and is quit pleasant.

This is just me but I feel we continue to come back on this plane of existence until we are ready for the next step.

I've noticed, along the path of my life that I've had occurences, met people that I know I've met before, but dont remember where...or when...or know I've never met them before but it just seems like....I know them. It doesnt make much sense...but it does make me lean towards the concept of reincarnation.

I know exactly what you mean. There is someone on this site that I know that I've known them in a past life. I trust him completely and feel like I've known him forever when I've only known him in this life for maybe 3 days.

some ppl are lucky enough to experience this feeling and state of mind...others will not have the chance to be this way or have ventured back into the past as they know of.

I believe I have serval past lives..there is so many places that I have gone too and I have that feeling of Dejavue like I have been there before it creeps me out sometime. I was told by someone once that I had a very old soul.Dunno maybe I'm just nuts.

How do you know these memories of past lives are actually your own real memories? What else could they be?

I fully believe in reincarnation, however I doubt you are given the option to choose what you want to be in your next life.

Why I belive in it is because their was a case about an American woman who had never set foot out of the country.

She started having dreams so a team took her to Egypt and showed her the pyramids, she knew exactly where to go, like she had lived there her entire life. Later they discovered that she could very well be the reincarnation of an egyptian princess. How else could she have the memories or the ability to walk around like a native when she had never been there current time? Of course it is what you make of it and some might think it was bogus, but I belive that our spirit, energies or what you want to call it, continiues to go on after the body dies.

This is very true my Brother,our paths have crossed several times and I'm sure this will continue, fortunate that this happens,since it creates a stable support base for us with each meeting,especially since as Guardians,there are too few of us already

I believe that in some cases, like some of the people above, where you have strong or close family ties, that you will live multiple lives with that person, or persons. I know of a few people who have traveled through time together, being reincarnated and fated to meet in each new life. yes i belive in recarnation but i don't think deja vu is linked with it because deja vu shows u what already happened or is going to happen. and recarnation is changing you phyiscal form.

I believe reincarnation is related to kharma...If you are wise and kind in this life you will return in your next life as an important and happy being. If you are cruel or stupid in this life you will return in the next life as a lowly life form.

I have had many deja vu experiences. It is an strange feeling.
I have also had vuja de experiences where I feel something is about to happen and it does.
I am completely serious about this.

I am on the fence regarding reincarnation. As many state I think it is very suspicious that most of the people who claim to be reincarnated was a famous or powerful person.

I also have experienced Deja Vu many times. I believe that Deja Vu is unrelated to any possible "past life" experiences. In my encounters with feelings of Deja Vu I experience a feeling that I (The guy typing here) not some past iteration of my soul, has been in that situation before.

I believe in reincarnation. I like the idea that you get another change to rectify what you did wrong in past lives.

I do believe in reincarnation and that it serves two purposes, to learn and to correct mistakes. And I believe we keep coming back until we gain all the knowledge we can and learn how to truly love.

I believe in reincarnation, but i can not say if i have had any past lives as i do not know and i do not remeber so, but i know some people who have and can tell me wot have happen, but i agree with some wot does it matter about past lifes, wot matter is wot you do with your life her and now, (just my opion)

we always cross paths with those of previous relationships. sometimes it gets scarey so we back off. why? not sure..

I am a firm believer in reincarnation... Some things you see in your dreams, or maybe going to a place you know you in this life have never been too, but you know this place... to me is a way you see things from a past life.

I think KCRC may have a point, deja vu may not be related to past lives at all, but that what BeautifullyDisturbed mentioned is more plausible. That experiencing deja vu is merely a time lapse.
