There is somethign ive thought about for a long time now.
As I understand it, Vampires are dead, and the only thing that keep us alive are blood of others, persional I perfer the blood of young ladys but...Im getting off track.
Vampires, are damned, souls beings, They have no sence of life-According to a lot of things ive hurd in a lot of churchs, Vampires are hobbable creatures, in gods eyes that he did not do.
Does this mean that vampires are doomed to a forever life in hell, or can we be forgiven to go somewhere else.
Maybe you have other thoughts. That we go somewhere else.
Or our souls are doomed to walk the earth, forever, Im confused by the vampire after life....Can some help?
well, vampires usually dont ask to be the way they are so how could God blame them for doing wrong when its the only way they can survive?
I'll be damned if I am damned...
I don't worry about the whole heaven or hell aspect.
I live a respectful, moral life.
Seeing as I don't know what comes after this I am not going to worry about stepping on "gods" toes....
I don't believe vampires are doomed. Most are not given a choice as to the way they are...and others just...are. As in they're vampires from the start but don't realize it until they become older and their powers grow. I feel that in some point of our lives...reincarnated that is...that, depending on how long our soul has been around, that we have all been a vampire at some point. And I also feel that every soul does have a chance to be forgiven. It's all in how they act the next time around that really decides. And yes...the churches always say they are evil because they associate them with the "devil." So to them, anything that acts or looks similar to it is automatically evil which I feel is completely wrong.
I believe that with being a vampire, you cannot also believe in heaven and expect to go there when you eventually die. Being a vampire you throw off all forms of society and go against teh norm, and in doing that you basically ceondemn yourself to hell...if there truly is a hell.
Hitm47n,
If you yourself are a vampire, why do you have to rely upon what the Church has apparently told you about their having 'no sence of life'. Can you not tell whether this is the case?
Using your Christian mode of reference, I would say that as a vampire, the seperation from God is the damnation.
The hell being lived in is one of constant suffering, whilst being forced to subsist upon that which does not suffer.
Hell as Dante put it, is probably irrelevant to a vampire, especially if one holds to a reincarnation theory, or even physical immortality.
And I don't believe vampire souls go anywhere, but just await an opportunity to incarnate into a form they might find satisfying.
I don't believe in your description of vampires... Regardless of that.. if there is a Heaven, I do believe that all one has to do is ask forgiveness, and they are forgiven.
There may be some time in purgatory, atoning for your sins..
I believe in more of a reincarnation type of "afterlife" though. So, whether you "sin" or not, you shall reap in your next life what you have sown in this life.
Where we are going after this life isn't important, what we do with it is what counts.
Indulge me as I wax obscure and philosophical...
Christianity itself has in its background multiple religions that it has absorbed on its way to conquering the world as a religion for the masses.
One does not become a part of the masses without taking on the beliefs and traditions of others (just ask the pagans where the idea of a christmas tree comes from).
To me, the concepts of heaven and hell are at best amorphous, taking on the images of human perception to best fill our desire to continue onwards after this life is over. We want to believe that when we die we go somewhere else. And more than that, we want to believe that if we live a good life and try to be nice, we will find a better life than the hell which exists on earth.
It falls along the same lines of "be good because Santa Claus is coming", but is more on a religious and "adult" level.
From my perspective, the concepts of heaven and hell were made to cow a lazy and otherwise irreverent people and get them to behave. Lazy because most people have little desire to do the amount of thinking it takes to found a real set and subset of morality upon which they will live their lives. And in reality, most people are too cowardly to enforce their set of morals upon those around them. Heaven and hell fit the bill nicely for the intellectually lazy.
From this line of thinking, vampires are no more doomed to hell than the person who never decides upon their own moral code and manages to just fall short of the standards of heaven. Forging your own moral code allows you to proceed through life without fear of death. You know that as an individual being, you will be prepared to go down to the grave and end existence gracefully, or you will perpetuate your soul and move onwards in whatever fashion you desire.
Are we required to go to either heaven or hell? No. According to even biblical standards, we were given the intelligence and knowledge that separated mankind from its creator permanently. Along with the freedom from mindless slavery, comes the responsibility to live one's life according to one's own standards, for the standards of the creator no longer apply and have to hold sway in our decision making.
By the christian concept, one may choose to be with god and one may choose to not be with god. I find it rather convenient that not being with god is seen as a tortuous hell whereas being with god is all light and fluffiness. The very concepts of heaven and hell are allegories illustrated by men who were devoted to the one god, and as such, are very much a one-sided view of which is better.
I do not believe we are doomed. I personaly will never ask for forgivness from any god for what I am. I do not know what is going to happen to my soul once I pass on. But I do not think I am going to hell.
I agree with Chrisg....how can God punish something that is forced on you...and you have to kill to survive? But if you are immortal...I would think your outlook of heaven and hell changes than that of when you were mortal.
People think that if your a vampire you will go to hell however I have no bissness with the other worlds
God is supposed to be merciful, he can't blame a Vampire when they haven't had the choice & he can't blame them for eating either ;)
I am not sure about doomed. It depends. You may not have soul, but do you have the chance for redemption. As someone else mentioned, God is suppose to be merciful and if you are turned without your consent, then it is not your fault. To live you must do what you must to survive.
LOL Jenova. A better response could not have been said by a better person. Unfortunatly I am as always the Devil's (Gods) advocate. A true Vampire of myth is without soul and lost to dammnation forever. There are just somethings that even He can not forgive. Death for a Vampire of that nature is a merciful release. Thier soul is left to fade away.
I for one welcome this release. I remember too much that I should not.
I ask no forgiveness, and expect none to be given.
As was said before, it is how we live our lives that is important. What we decide to do with the life we are given.
But that is mearly the ramblings of an old Bear.
I think vampires are only evil if that is what they think of themselves. So, personally, I think we have just as much of a chance of going to Heaven (or wherever you choose to believe) as anyone else.
thats kind of like saying when an untamed animal attacks his prey to feed himself that the animal is doomed as well, just for trying to survive.
Kveld: old bear ye may be, but I must still respectfully disagree. The vampire of myth? Yes, this is the one that doesn't truly exist, so in my personal opinion, the answer still is that we go where we wish, and after death? No one knows.
I like Jenova's answer, but what ever answer you get depends on the person.
Personally, I think that we can be saved, and go to heaven, if you beleive heaven and hell exsist
Good question. Well, I was taught God forgives and is loving so I suppose erm... If you believed in him he would be mad at you? Meh I dont know...
Since the question didnt strike up any sense of real modern day vampires, I will speak only about the hollywood type.
The mythological vampire is perpetually described as damned, immortal, and the living dead. If one is forever living dead in a damned place, that sounds literally like hell on earth.
I agree with Chordewa how could god punish someone that does not choose what happend to them if there is a god
In a logical view it is moslty not possible to go ot hell as a vampire, since vampires are immmortal then canot die but are already dead so they dont have s oul then the soul would already be ether in hell or heaven and the body fo the vampire be living on earth to feed to stay alive so the soul has already been send where it belong so the vampie does not dam it.
And what if there is no hell or heaven? It all a state in which a balance is kept
Well if heaven was real and I don’t believe it is … with all the nutters killing in the name off god … they all go to the same place next to god … and I don’t believe they will stop killing … so heaven would look like hell as explained by some rather smart looking men who knocked on my door ( I don’t believe in that place ether) feathers and bombs everywhere ………… no im glad to be what we are and who cares live for the now coz we sure don’t know about tomorrow
its all bible fear and control stuff. actually i dont think god cares. learn experience grow.
(and spell check ) lol
For me you can believe an heaven or what ever b/c there will not be any body tell me what the HELL to believe in. BUt other people have there own way in HELL or heaven.
Since I don't believe in Heaven nor Hell, I can't answer this question properly.
So hypothetically speaking, if there was a heaven and hell, then I would believe that it would depend on the vampire, how they lived their unlife. If they fed off of the bad people they would have done a good service and thusly would go to heaven and if they hurt people and caused pain and suffering to good people, then obviously they'd go to hell.
:)
i believe that we are already living in hell........
personnally i dont believe in heaven.
i dont know what happens when we die but as far as im concerned i wont know any different. whatever happens , happens
I am going to GRRR @ my mobile again for eating my post here as well, it seems. Stupid Motorola v3 Razr!!! GRRRR!!!
Oh. Sorry. Right. Back on track.
So, yesterday I was thinking this:
Fictional/mythical vampires are the undead as Sacred stated. I doubt they really care about the state of their immortal soul, even on the off chance they do get dusted. Some authors do write characters that care, but they're kind of whiny and hard to relate to. All blah, blah, blah and wah, wah, wah. Who needs it?
As for myself, as a real vampire? I gave up my beliefs in heaven and hell when I walked away from Christianity. As someone else stated yesterday (I believe Jenova), it's all just something to get you to obey. Again, who needs it?
That was beautiful Jenova *laughs*
Both fictions have borrowed from each other in reguards to each other, and pretty much come to the same conclusion. Vampires seam to have (largely) lost control of their souls, and will not be going to heavan... but whether or not they go to hell would largely depend on how metaphorical hell is.
Sounds like a steriotype of the vampire race and more or less media beleifs.
Some drink blood whats wrong with that?
do we scar them for life? is it worse than rape or murder? My point is this, as vampires we have certain aspects that need to be tended to such as feeding and staying alive, does "god" punish humans for eating aniamals, or killing plants who are proven to be living organisms?
We have done nothing wrong, most of us live respectable lives, even if we are into darker more lustful things, there are humans who could match a vampire for there lust of the dark, that doesint make us killers or rapists, we dont fly through the night murdering people and drinking their blood we are not animals keep that in mind.
Appologies if I seem hostile that is not my intent, as other have said we live our lives to the fullest and as respectable as we can.
Damned? I dont beleive so, as you've noticed im sure, most of the community arent exactly bible thumping church dwellers. no offence of course to anyone religeion. I respect everyones beleifs, those of you who know me know this to be true.
Look more into vampires would be my recomendation. just some advice.
What You do with Your life now and Make it out to be now is what is important. Not weather Your going to heaven or Hell. Enjoy what Life You have and walk umugst the dark side with the rest of Us.
smiles
I believe Stabb may have alluded to this but in the interests of answering Hitm47n's original concept of both vampirism and heaven and hell...
If you believe that you are the undead immortal vampire (and who am I to question you?) and if you believe in the Christian heaven and hell, then you are horribly and most assuredly damned as an abomination to God. That's just the Christian interpretation of what that type of vampire is.
The first person responded that most vampires dont chose to be Vampires, but what about the ones that do, is it possable that there are different circermstances?
id rather walk for eternaty than go any where else quite frankly and i think earth is our hell
To me there is no hell or heaven. Earth is as far as hell as we can get. And vampires are doomed to walk the Earth forever. But I belive if they do good and not evil. Then their souls will be saved and they will get another chance at life.
As cheesy as it might be ill answer this with a quote or at least as close as possible " I know nothing of God or the Devil. I ahve never seen a vision nor learned a secret that would damn or save my soul "
I think you may be confusing real vampires with mythical vampires. Real vampires are not the living dead and are not cursed minions of hell. Real vampires are human, alive and like anyone else have just as much chance of going to heaven or hell as anyone else by the decisions they make in thier life.
Nocturnis has a point, we are not a civilisation out of a comic book or a movie. That's just hollywood glamour for you. This is NOT Buffy the vampire slayer....gawwd they can't even spell vampyr correctly FFS.
As for the whole damned or be damned concept, and whther or not us vampyr are damned or not. Some say we already have been, some say we will be judged by our actions. Personally, I have no belief in either way. I do not believe in god, the devil, heaven or hell and I have done some study into satanism. Personally I think satanism is a farce. I mean how many satanists would say that they don't believe in GOD??? It's just stupid as a satanist must believe in god or how would they be a satanist. Satan and God are apparently intertwined. It took me a while to work out that satanism is just a way of saying "i believe in god, but i don't like it".
So in answer to your question, i believe that you are what you are and you do what you do and there are no consequences. I believe in resurrection/reincarnation and have good reason to believe that a vampyr (or at least many of us) will inhabit a body until the body can take no more and then the essence of the vampyr (some would call it a soul as I have on many occasions....but i do not believe that a vampyr is soul-less) will leave the body when it shuts down and "dies" and merely look for a new one to inhabit. I also feel that the new body will either be newborn thus the essence mixes with the soul that is already present, or at conception (when there is no essence and the vampyr can lay dormant and feed on the developing essence of the new child as it forms inside the womb).
This is my belief.
M
menerfecious - most 'satanists' don't actually believe in a sentient god-like Satan either.
if you dont believe in satan kinda defeats the purpose of beinga satanist dont ya think?
That particular brand of Satanists (those that don't believe in God or the Devil) chose the name for it's anti-religious sentiment and don't believe in any deities or gods. The idea of that particular 'philosophy' (because I wouldn't even classify it as a religion) is that we are all our own gods and shouldn't spend our time bowing down before imaginary idols.
In all races, there are good & bad people.
I dont think Vampires are any different to humans in this subject, if there is a Heaven & Hell then you're actions in life will determin which you go to.
Of course when I say this Im not talking about Hollywood Vampires either.
if someone that classifies themselves as a satanist when they dont believe in a god or a devil are ignorant of what a satanist is since a satanist believes in both. someone that doesnt believe in either is an athiest ( sp ). There is also a difference in believing that they exist and following them.
Wolvie, we're getting a bit off topic here but La Vey Satanist, which I believe are the most predominant and have the largest membership...believe exactly that. And yes, it could be considered a form of atheism.
It should be noted, in order to bring this back on topic, that there are La Vey Satanist living vampires, but they hold some rather strict interpretations of how that works.
judging by what many of you have said i agree with most....Vampires are dammened...they are forced to drink the blood of others...but yet again they reallly dont have anything to worry about for they are dead sooo how could they possibly go to hell or heven they are in limbo...this is there fate...there is not much one could say to help u with ur findings..
drinking blood does not mean you are damned the bible tells christians that wine is the blood of christ and that they should drink it in rememberence of him
my 2 cents worth.....
Modern day vampires are not immortal, they age like the rest of us, and more human than naught.... so I believe that they will have the issue of Heaven and Hell.... or the afterlife of their beliefs
Wolvie - you're right that modern christianity is a bit more of a religious buffet these days and allows for all manner of things once thought to be a sin to now be considered acceptable.
However, if one follows strict interpretation of Leviticus (that's the section that warns against things like idolatry, sexual conduct, and prostitution) then the consumption of blood IS in fact called a sin (Lev 17:10, 12 & 14 I think). It should be noted however that this is the same book of the bible that also calls sin the actions of tattoos, piercings, self harm, shaving and other less noted 'sins' so one may just as well question the entire Old Testament if one is going to question sections of it and perhaps rightly so.
I won't try and claim I'm any expert on vampires... or theology for that matter. Following the strict teachings of the bible and church or whatever... it would probably be thought that a vampire would be damned. It's hard for me to believe that one... anyone, is damned though when I don't even believe in hell. Hell is a miraculously wonderful tool that has been used for centuries now. Most heavily used in the Medieval ages but definitely not forgotten!
A hell simply makes no sense to me. What 'merciful and loving' god would need a fiery pit for the rest of eternity to punish? If this god were so perfect, couldn't he/she/it come up with some more effective punishment.
So no matter what I think on vampire, my answer to this question peronally, would be that no, they are not damned to a hell... at least, not by the typical definition of hell.
with the way vampires are portrayed they would be doomed to an eternity in hell but the main rule in religion is all will be forgiven as long as the heart is pure. whether or not it beats a vampire has a conscience and they know what is right and wrong. that gives them a fair chance to go to a better place.
I dont think God can condemn you to an afterlife in hell (if hell truly exists). Religion states God is a forgiving God, such a forgiving God would not damn a person/being to hell for something out of their control...or damn any person/being to hell for that matter.
religion is the opiate for the masses... i don't think that any religion (much less christianity) and vampirism (given it's strictest definitions) are going to mix all too well.
there are those who interpret it this way... that the true hell is our lives lived on earth... so, doesn't it make sense that vampires (immortally) are in a sense doomed to this brand of hell?
considering where the other option is....does anyone really want to go towards the bright light?
I have no idea where we would go but I do belive in a afterlife of sorts just not in heaven or hell in the christian view
I believe that vampires are doomed to a life of death but us being unique can someday overcome that
I myself so not believe in heavon or hell. So therefore No need to worrie where you are going. I believe when a person dies there soul can go to two difrfent way: One back to relive the life they just had to fix a mastake or Be reborn in another life.
ok, i am not a vampire but i know many of them(but they dont want to even bother joining this site). well some of them believe in god and some dont. the ones who do now refer to themselves as christian before they do vampire, and i have ben told that no matter what u r or who u r, "as long as u accept the lord into ur heart, u will be forgiven and accepted into heaven" i kinda agree but (correct me if im wrong) i thought vampires didn't have souls....isnt ur soul the part of u that goes into the "afterlife"?
Everyone is damned in their own little way. No matter if you're vampire or not.
Vamps are no more damned than the guy who robs himself. As far as being damned by Christian standards, then they themselves are damned for their own egotistical beliefs in such nonsense.
I personally don't believe in heaven or hell, but if I did it wouldn't matter in my case. I am not the undead. To believe in such a thing is silly to me. I am however a modernized vampire. We drink others blood for their energy.. for their essence. Nothing else.
you after life is chosen by your high being of creator mean god if that is who you obay....so maybe there is a place heaven for you......................or not
i believe when a mortal becomes immotrtal that is like becomeing god and therefore you would act that way ( i know i would if i was immortal) god does not see you as one of his children anymore he sees you as a damnd soul who will wander this earthly plain feeding off the innocent
well if u believe the bible...god forgives everyone no matter wat their sins r
my personal opinion is they could probably make a choice or either heaven or hell just most choose hell
i think its not really the good of a question... because dont vampires "" live for ever... when they die i think like us you dont even know anything ever happend. your brain just shuts down.
I believe vampires exist, but I do not know if heaven or hell does...
There have been many accounts of people "floating" up from their body when they die. It seems like the soul is lifted up and the body stays to decay. I don't know if I'm right, but this has been said by many people who have had near death experiences. Maybe that's where the idea of heaven came from..? Since the spirits rise up towards "the heavens".
I don't know...I'm still so young, but I just wanted a say.
If they are killed, I do not believe they have a soul, so thats it. They cannot go to "hell." Because they are already dead, they technically don't exist in the Christian sense. I an not a Christian, by the way.
tza is the first person to under stand thank you for better wording what i tried to say
Do vampires go to heaven or hell? Well, first of all, as a vampire I don't think my soul is going to heaven or hell. I believe that I will reincarnate. Reincarnate into something that I find appealing or suitable for me. That's just me though. I don't plan on going anywhere for a very long time. I plan on seeing and experienced many things through time.
I belive in reincarnation...So to me i really dont belive in a heaven or hell...but i could be wrong...When i die i will not ask anyone for forgiveness...
I try not to let such thoughts bother me heaven hell after life .....urg no sence in worrying about something you cant really control....and it doesn't really matter much anyway.
i feel that vampires live in there own hell...When we die there is no heaven for us, we r fallen angels and don't belong there anymore..We r just dust untill the next time around, but we always come back to our true selfs...so be it vampire or another race..
I've never believed that Vampire's are Dead. I've always believed that Vampires are just another type, evolution, whatever, of human. We are born to human mothers and fathers, go to school, work, party, laugh and cry. As for Heaven and Hell...do you really believe there is a place where angels play harps and people ride around on clouds? I mean it would be nice but I personally don't think so. I believe that when you pass from this life you are reborn in a new body to continue whatever work you left unfinished in the past.
for one hollywood vampires are the only ones that are undead real vampires are very much alive. Vampires are not asked to be vampires they just are so I don't think they can be damned
For me, as with others, the whole undead thing is just Hollywood. Many of us here that are vampires aspire to a more spiritual searching.
Vamps are undead and cursed. A little different than the orginial post implies.
interesting topic....well i dont believe in nor heaven nor hell,i dont believe in the movies nor the myths...i belive in the reality i live as vampire......i will repeat this link which also in my journal...because this site give the best information about the reality...at least what i could find on the net,if any one found better i would love to have a link to that
http://www.drinkdeeplyanddream.com/realvampire/
we are the undead. we have no souls, yet we have morals. We stay on earth until the end of time, unless we are killed in some way. after, the souls that we have lost return to the natural world and find a new body. that's what i believe anyways.
our souls gather somewhere once we are sired. i have not really given that part much thought...but i will....and i'll let you know what i come out with.
~~EmoliciousLove~~
chris has a good point with what he said in the first response. we dont choose, so how can we be blamed. plus u gotta think about how religion is. most religions say, "be saved or go to hell" whose to say if a vamp wanted to be saved that he couldnt? that wouldnt make sense for religion. i dont think its up to god or the devil. its up to the individual where he/she wants to end up.
provided that a souless being who could not die wanted to go somewhere else, im not sure how that would work. seeing as there is no death there is no moving on to another plane. i guess until the end of the world. in which case, probably depending on the life he led, he would either go to heaven or hell.
or jus sit around in between both places in some sort of a limbo.
I believe in Hell, not Heaven. I believe in Lucifer, not God. Why? It's just my beliefs. I'm a little skeptical on those things. So, I believe a Vampire is damned, one way or another, they are damned.
You play with the hand life ( or death ) has dealt you. There's no complaining about things that are not under your control.
Believing in heaven means also believing in hell. How else would you have good and evil. The duality of life and beyond. Or is there a better hell and a worse hell?
i feel we will repeat ourselfves until the gods /ddesses feel we have made up for our karma
wow not believing in heaven but believing in hell that is like believing there is a heads on a coin and not a tails if one exists there has to be another. Although I believe that this world we live in now is hell and the the literal translation in the bible is the grave not a fiery pit were we are tortured eternally. I think most people will keep moving on to be re born into new bodies and that even vampyres have souls or we would not be able to love or feel sad or any of the things we do feel. but for sure not damned just different.
Well, I'm no expert on Christianity, but last time I checked there's a couple rules and checklists before you can go to heaven..nowhere on there does it say you have to be human.
If you've become a vampire unwillingly, or were born that way, you're still not allowed to kill yourself. Which means you're not allowed to starve yourself.
If you take a life- that may be another story.
Something you'll probably have to take up with Him personally.
I do not see taking life as a requirment for vampirism, just drinking blood (or energy or whatever your type of vamp)
According to christianity yes... but according to me... no... first and formost I do not believe in Hell or Heaven... and that a vampire does not get created without a soul but merely loses it through their actions... if a vampire does unspeakable evil then they have no soul but if they exercise constraint and control, as well as helps others than there is no reason to claim they have no soul
Well in the catholic church ppl are taught that all are forgiven for all their sins
I agree with the above, the "church" says that all should be forgiven....but it really depends on the actually vampire....if they lead a good life & such then when they die they will go to a vampire heaven, but if they are evil thro & thro they'll end up going to hell....but thats just my opinion...everyone has a different opinion to everyone else!
well I have no idea seeing as I don't belive in "heaven & hell"
I beleive vampires to be immortal thus the afterlife would be irrelivant.
I dont worry about what is going to happen to me after death, so i dont care where i go...
