dreams are strange things,they are a mixture of both our fears and fantasies possibly some may be of a psycic nature or just random thoughts threading itself together into a story in our sleep.dreams can also be used as a way to work out our problems subconciously so without dreams we may not be able to function properly but my question to you is does what we dream have any real meaning?

most dreams have some type of meaning weather its your hopes or your fears or something that may have hppened to you in a past life. There are the occasions where you will dream just so taht your mind can make sense of thing going on around you. Each dream does have something to tell you about yourself or things around you

I always like to ask questions before I go to sleep and ask for them to be answered in my dreams...and they are. Also I have future dreams sometimes. Therefore those have meaning. But I'm sure you mean like dreams where people die and what not. Death dreams are supposed to indicate that a certain part of your life is coming to an end and they say when one door closes another opens. I believe everything has a meaning. If you study psychology they say dreams are a way of working out problems we cannot solve in waking life and that every night our problems are solved which is why sometimes we feel miserable and go to sleep and wake up feeling better. The problem is most of the time we do not remember the solution. Anywhere you go over the world you will find people who believe that dreams have meaning.

I'm unsure if our state of mind at REM would make us more or less susceptible to influence from the invisible world. It's a powerful activity that's occurring. Dead sleep might be more a time for outside influence.

Thanks DD - I would hope that some of my dreams are just crazy mixed up images and emotions from my day. It wouldn't do well for those dreams to have deeper meaning since interpretation would be nay impossible.

I had a dream that I was going to find true love and have a child/become pregnant. I thought it was funny as, at the time, I was single and a virgin. But, it came true. Just a couple months later, I was living with my (now) husband, and had conceived my oldest.

but i don't think they mean the same for everyone, so those dream dictionaries and all that are garbage (i.e. my dreaming of snakes is NOT going to mean the same thing as someone who is afraid of snakes dreaming about them)

symbolism is huge in dreams though, so they cannot be taken always at face value. you really have to be honest and truthful and know yourself truly

The subconcious people never ever listen to it so when we sleep it has a chance to show us things. so I believe that dreams do have meaning. Cause when was the last time you asked some-one why they did somthing and they said "my subconcious told me to"

i dont rember my dreams much but the ones i do rember thay do mean stuff to me bc some are about the future and some are fanticys but the future one have all come true but i end up forgeting about them untell thay happen and then it feals like dasha vo or somethinglike that or i just replay the dream in my mind and it looks to me like i see it.

yes - dreams do have a meaning. they are a useful metaphor. quite often, we have the answers to our problems inside our own heads. we know the answer, we know what we must do - but so many things get in the way. confusion and distractions, wishes and fears, other peoples opinions. when we dream, we are on another level of consciousness, so are able to tap into our own subconscious. it's like there is an older, wiser person living in the back of our minds - just waiting for the noise of the outside world to quieten down so he can whisper his wisdom to us.

I think there are so many things we want to know and questions we ask but have no idea where to get the answers from so they come out in dreams. Whether they are from some where else or they are from ourselves giving us the knowledge we already knew but could not bring to the foreground of our minds I don't know but have found that I do get many answers from dreams.

Dreams have meaning for me. I am a type of person that remembers most of her dreams. ALot of times i can pick out some symbology. I like to look my dreams up in my handy 10000 dreams interpreted book. I am also a very visual person and it is like watching a movie in my head. I think they do have meaning.

i got told a long time ago that i could not get pregnant. then this one night i had a dream of a young toddler standing in a door way holding a blue envelope. i took out my dream book and read that a baby boy was on the way by yourself of close family member.

I absolutely believe that dreams have meaning. They would be no use to me if they didn't. Even if it is to dig inside and find those things hiding in my subconcious that I REALLY need to think about in the waking hours.

i completely believe in dreams having meaning and some of which coming true. I have had a few of them myself. but the most scary dreams that turn into reality are those of which we have while we are still awake. I have only had 2 and quite honestly they scare the crap out of me because they both came true. My worst "day dream" was that of my brother dying. i watched him siting there infront of me telling me that I would be fine and that moving on and taking care of mom is the only thing i need to do with my life. then i watched the blood poor from his head. my heart stopped and i looked up and all i heard was a "crash" i was awake but only for a few seconds. as i had to pull myself off the floor of the boat and see my brother floating in the water. here is my question about dreams and reality crashing together......

I have difficulty believing that every dream archetype from books will always apply in the same way. I don't like heights so in my dreams a height could have very different meaning from someone who likes to rock climb or sky dive. It's this reason that leaves me wondering how a dream website would have lasting accuracy though I'm sure there could be some general standing iconic images.

I know that many books point to vampires in dreams as a sign of a bad relationship. I don't think that would apply anymore (at least with most here).

I believe that every dream that a person has does have a deeper underlying meaning, as to whether or not each person can identify with their dreams (as i do) is a matter of personal beliefs.

I occasionaly dabble in dreamweaving, and usually just to protect my children from nightmares....however, i have noticed in doing this that even the smallest detail in a dream (which can often be forgotten) can herald a strong meaning for the dreamer.

I believe your dreams are full of meanings and symbols. Interpreting the symbols with your beliefs and how you view life is important. I also believe we have entertaining dreams where our mind may need relaxing or shutting down per say to heal.

Native Americans believed dreams also told a warrior what he should do with his life . Everything from what he should eat or not eat , touch , what should he wear . what weapons should he use . Even how he should enter his home . Violating these dreams would mean a loss of power .

Dreams are very weird things...they are a cross between your conscience & subconscience...some dreams are premanations, duje vou (spell), etc...or some dream are just pure fantasy!

Most dreams are your minds way of working through events be them from that day, or even solving probelms your currently go through. S trange thing is we cant do without them if we are forced to we all go a little crazy, strange that.

personally i think that dreams do have a reall meaning...because very few others and myself experiance a "vision" or deja vu
but othertimes...your nightmares can be throught as a bad movie you watched before you went to sleep, stress going through your mind at that time
and dreams....as you say.....are fatasie worlds that we would like to live in..the only thing is, is that dreams are choppy and all over the place, you can understand what people are saying but in real life it would be jibberish
and what i have also noticed is that nightmares seem to run smoothly, to capture you in so deep through your dream to make you become horrified

i think that every dream (whether u consider it a premonition or not) has meaning. dreams come from ur subconscious no matter how deep or how strange. it could be something u saw in a movie that night, adn still it would haev meaning. ur mind is always thinking and working. and it will always be telling u something. Maybe something u have to face from ur past, maybe an issue ur worried about... whatever it is, its something.

If dreams really mean something, then time-travel has got to be possible. My dreams are so off the wall sometimes it makes me wonder. I've been in many places in the world and at different time periods too. One thing for sure, is I have died many various deaths in my dreams, in all kinds of ways, and I've also done things supernatural which at my age when I dreamt them, I wouldn't see on TV until decades later. I wonder what it all means. Things like this fascinate me a great deal.

I think they hold a lot of meaning..... Like you said in the initial post about fears, fantasy, etc.... All hold true but once you can decifer your dreams that's when their true meaning will start to show on a whole other level than before....
