I would like people to discuss how they think this article and crime will effect the vampire community especially since the judge ruled the crime was heinous because she was attempting to drink the blood of the victim.
Woman stabs tied-up lover to drink blood Tue Oct 23, 6:32 PM ET
A woman who stabbed her tied-up lover so she could drink his blood has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Tiffany Sutton told Maricopa County Superior Court Judge David Udall that she was sorry for the incident and said she never meant to hurt anyone, but received the stiff sentence anyway after he called the crime especially heinous.
Sutton, 24, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in August. She was arrested by Tempe police in February after she repeatedly stabbed her lover during an alcohol- and drug-fueled sexual tryst.
According to police reports, the victim, 46-year-old Robert McDaniel, agreed to be tied up during sex but became alarmed and asked to be untied when Sutton pulled out a knife and said she liked to drink blood. Sutton then attacked him, slicing his leg, puncturing his arm, shoulder and back and cutting his neck and stomach. When he escaped, she chased him with a pickax.
Sutton's attorney, Elizabeth Houck, told the judge at Tuesday's hearing that she suffers from a personality disorder that causes instability and has taken responsibility for her actions, according to the East Valley Tribune.
Houck wrote in a sentencing memo that prison records show Sutton thought she was a vampire for the first several weeks she was in jail.

It will harm the vampire community, by making anything to do with blood illegal. It will always happen, someone, somewhere will screw things up for the whole.
Sounds to me like the woman missed her medication dose. Im not surprised at te things that people do to each other these days anymore.
uh oh. it's people like this that give vampires a bad name. it has to be consentual, like making love. otherwise it is as wrong as rape
Well when one tries to tie someone up , cut them all over to drink blood it appears insane. So I am sure it will reflect poorly. Most people do not want to, nor care to understand the Vampire culture. Most do not act as she did.. But the ones who do get public attention which therefore reflects onto everyone else. Such as all the other vampire killers..
Wow thats some crazy stuff. As usual we will be to blame and the music we listen to blah blah blah. I really think that sucks cause there was obviously something wrong with that women if she was chasing him out of the house with a pickaxe. Of course they will only focus on her saying she was vampire and blame the vampire community. That will make it harder for our society to prove that we are not all a bunch of wackos. But our people have survived centuries of shit and we will survive this as well.
I don't think that a whole community should be blamed for the insanity of one woman. This is ridiculous. Just cause she is off her rocker it will make everyone look bad.
wow that is messed up i think it would condem the vampire society
Once again, my point has been proven. People do not "Fear what they do not understand", they fear whack jobs like that. Of course she is going to give the 'vampire community' a bad name, she is a part of it. Obviously not the better part of it, but a part nonetheless.
Apparently she was not just crazy, but drunk and high when it happened, so who knows what she's like in real life? Obviously the guy trusted her enough to let her tie him up, so she must have seemed pretty okay to him. And then she snapped and started stabbing him.
That, right there, is what people are afraid of. They are afraid that some of you are secretly creeps who will do things like that. And they are right. Some are. Not most, and not even a lot. But some. And most of those do not get the media attention that she did.
I know this for a fact, as it happened my best friend. A woman pulled a knife on him while in the middle of sex, and cut him so she could drink his blood. The wounds were not serious, but she had never told him of her vampiric desires, nor did she ask permission for or even warn him of her actions. He didn't feel the need to get the police involved, but he did refuse to see or speak to her ever again.
These things happen, and more often than we would like to believe. Just because most members of the vampire community behave with a certain amount of restraint and decorum, doesn't mean they all do. The best you can hope for is damage control with the media (eg. interviews with members of the vampire community denouncing this kind of behaviour), and the increasing open-mindedness of the world at large.
As a whole, I don't think she will deface the vampire community. Because most people do not even believe they exist. I for one am skeptical about them.
People always fear what they cannot see or have knowledge about. People need to broaden their horizons a little more.
People like this lady are nut cases and need to be dealt with in a delicate manner. Adding drugs and alcohol to the mix does not make it any better.
I believe she should have gotten a stiffer sentence. Apparetly she is out of her freaking mind.
It sounds to me as if one of the woman's said personalities had a disease called Portpheria (I'm not sure on the spelling) anyhow it compells a person to consume blood and other elements of the human body. Their body actually craves it. It is possible that this woman (besides being insane) was most likely very low in vital elements her body needed.
She is definitely a whack job. It is just to bad that some nut like that is going to have a negative influence on the real vampire community
I think she should stay off the drugs unless they were given to her by a doctor. I have little doubt that this will be happening now haha. Of course this will reflect badly on the 'vampire community." Its along the same lines as what happen to the priesthood when all those kids came forward saying they were molested. Nut jobs and sickos are in every community and I dont see that changing anytime soon.
people like her are the reason i cant talk to most people bout the way i am. theyll lock me away cause they are scared ill hurt other people...
I think she's crazy. All that wasn't necessary if she just wanted a little blood. It will reflect poorly on the vampire communtiy of course. It's ridiculous but you know how people are.
I think it will definately reflect poorly on the vampire community. As with every other sector of non-mainstream culture the exploits of the unsound are perceived as a general statement of the whole group by the uneducated mainstream. It's a shame really.
Well that women is crazy as she has more than one incident like this but people in the vampire community will be judge and the blame for this which is a shame. People who want to judge should do some research before jumping to conclusion but they won't.
Someone always screws something up for the others no matter what community it is. It's just going to bring everything into the news that people will not understand and take the wrong way. It's sad that people are so uppity about things.
I think the woman is insane... psychotic....
but will have little to do with the rest of the culture... one to one crime.....
now if others play copy cat... who knows.
I prefer my blood from a bite.
/^^/
~Wolf
lol..Personally i do not think that this will effect the vampire community one bit, because they will think she is crazy and crazy people do not know right from wrong, so i do not think nothing will happen to the vampire community over this...
hmm maybe i should steal some meds from my doctor for her.... lol
i dont think this will mess things up for the vampire community
There's a difference between having a donor (Somone willing to give you blood) and forcefully or aggressively taking blood from somone (assault and battery).
this has nothing to do with vampire...it is simple psychopathic behavior....she needs a straitjacket and some nice seringue with relaxing medicin...
Things like this make people run from us... everything in sex must be consensual... nobody can force others to do things they don't want to...
that saddens me...
This throws the whole subculture in a bad light and I feel that is just wrong. There is no reason to judge based on one crazy woman.
Wow what a whack job..Agrees with most here..Ppl fear what they dont understand and all because of ppl like her..
it will give the vampire community a bad reputation. its a very crazy story.
I dont think it will affect the Vampire Community that bad..Especially the Elders and such but then again, look at the world around Us..This shouldnt affect Us that bad
Sadly the effects this will have on the "community" are already bad. Given to the already tenacious reputation surrounding the community.
This person not only was in an altered state due to drinking and drugs, she was not on the right medications for her disorder. Medication that she knew she needed. Further more she acted in a way that she, more then likely, knew would put her in a bad way if caught.
Did she intend to kill the man in question? Was she intending to not be so frenzied? Had she thought to ask him first to quench her thirst?
So yes we know this is going to give the public in general a bad feeling about the community, but the true question here is this.
How will it affect people who have considered joining the community? The ones looking for the right place to be? The ones that need guidance and are actively and honestly seeking it, to understand themselves better? Will they feel that they can not be part of the community because of the bad things others do? Or will they just chalk it up to a single individual off their rocker being a waist of space?
it is things like this i detest we who are real vampiers would do no such thing and for somone to do this and clame to be one of us is a farce
Very true Silverbow..Good questions also..I dont think I would let one bad incident affect my thinking of the Vampire Community in such a bad way..This person acted out in her own way and from way i read, it didnt have nothing to do with others
The woman is nuts, her lover may have agreed to being tied up , but I don't believe that he agreed to be cut , lol or stabbed. She should have gotten a harder charge. That is borderline sexual asault.
oh wow she is really nuts they should of put her in a mental hospital instead of jail
It shouldn't be concidered propagand , but I'm sure people will take it as that.
personally i dont think all should be judged by one nut job, many of us dont do what she did, but wow what a nut
throw away the key.............
as for damage to the vamp community...........none done
Well I think she needs to be put down....because thats a bad image for most of us....when I drink I make sure that they have been tested and its concentual...
Preying on others like a hapless moron who wants to get arrested....isnt my way of doing things....
she is a prime example why we live in the shadows, and can't be completly open with most about our nature. Although we are not like that, she clearly has issues, we would be put in the same catergory because of our blood lust.
She needed to find someone into the same thing. Then this would not even be an issue.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
BItch is crazy- needs to be locked up for life.
Vampires not in danger- not any more real than a fictional creature or some sort of interpretation. ie: A human that likes to drink blood.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Best news story I've read since the one about "Coked-up theives snort dead dog's ashes" lmfao
This woman aparently did not have a willing partner. Not only that but a few little cuts is not too bad but come on! She stabbed the guy in the back and abdomen!
This is not someting that most normally do. and besides if he had been willing this would never have come to the police in the first place.
I'm not sure that they would take her seriously that she was a vampire so why should this affect the vampire community?
I agree it'll put a strain on the Vampire communit, specifically in that area, but as I see it, most people will leave it to drugs of some mental illness...
I agree it'll put a strain on the Vampire communit, specifically in that area, but as I see it, most people will leave it to drugs of some mental illness...
wow, I'd say shes a bit crazy. But I doubt anyone believed her when she said she was a vampire...so, i'd say no damage was done to the vampire community. It just makes her look more crazy if anything.
If she wanted to drink his blood thats one thing but she went overboard with the amount of times he was stabbed. Plus after untiing him she chased him with a pickaxe. This was overboard and she should go to jail
She has admitted that she feels she is a vampire or at least she said so until convinced otherwise. Remember that a court, and any official record would never say that she 'WAS' a vampire but only that she believed she was. If she continued to suggest that this was her belief, she would be considered mentally unbalanced and remanded to psychological evaluation. Hell she may have already had psychological evaluation.
Beyond her overzealous attempt at feeding (which could likely have been influenced by the drugs and alcohol) what pray tell, makes her any more of a whack job than any other sanguinarian.
"she suffers from a personality disorder that causes instability"
That and the fact that she did not just cut him enough to drink his blood, but stabbed him repeatedly in different areas, then chased him down with a pickaxe, is what I was referring to when I called her a whack job.
She did not just try to feed from him against his will, she viciously attacked him. She might not be clinically insane, but committing aggravated/sexual assault is enough to label her a nut case, in my books. But hey, maybe she's not. Maybe she's just a vicious criminal who got caught and tried to talk her way out of it. Who knows?
It all boils down to consent...she didn't have it apparently. Spantaneousness can be fun and refreshing in any kind of relationship, but the limits need to be established and agreed upon by both parties. That...and you have to not chase people down with pick axes. Last, but certainly not least...no usually means no. That is unless, of course, you are into the whole role play or BDSM thing...then there needs to be a "safe word" agreed upon to end the activities, should the occasion arrise that one would want said activities to end.
I guess what I was trying to say is that she's been diagnoses with a personality disorder likely because she believes herself to be a vampire. Clinical psychology doesn't accept the theory of modern day living vampires so of course they'll label it a disorder.
Obviously what she did was criminal and perhaps she is unbalanced beyond the drugs and alcohol. But that doesn't necessarily make her any less a modern day living vampire than the rest of the people here who feel they too need blood in their diet. My reason for bringing this up is to point out that those who label her a whack job, hopefully aren't the same people who believe themselves to be above reproach for their own beliefs of their own vampiric nature.
That, Felix, I will agree with. As I stated in my first post, she is a member of the vampire community whether they like it or not. There is no rule saying who is or is not allowed to join, there is no contract stating the rules of conduct you must follow, and there is way of 'proving' yourself.
This is both a good thing and a bad thing about this, as any other underground community. She says that she is a vampire, and as far as anyone knows she is just as much a vampire as anyone here. What she did was wrong and not representative of the community as a whole, but you can hardly wash your hands of her now.
I think this will affect the vampire community if people assume that everyone who lives this lifestyle is violent towards those who are not a willing donor. This woman was out of her mind and was more interested, in my opinion, in harming this man, than drinking his blood.
I do not think she is living a vampiric lifestyle. I think she is a good candiate for a mental institution.
I agree that whether or not anyone likes it or not if she drinks blood she is part of the community. The entire community will be judged by this woman in many cases. We will be seen as drug using whack jobs. I just wonder if lawmakers there will try to make drinking blood a crime. Since there is now legal precidence for a crime that involves blood drinking to be concidered heinous the penalties will likely be very stiff anytime anyone in the community gets out of line.
That just crazy. I see it as she was probably sick in the head.
I just read this news story on Yahoo today, and thought about this. I think the vampire community will go unaffected, in the eyes of the world, it's just another crazy person claiming to be a vampire.
And this time, I think that the world may be right.
don't you see though whenever someone claims to be a vampire now they will put them in the same group as that woman and assume they are crazy also
But they've been doing that for awhile now. One more doesn't really change matters all that drastically, just as one pleading sanity claims to be a vampire.
In my opinion, I don't think vampirism needs to be out in the public. It wouldn't be understood.
Oops, just as one pleading sanity, claiming to be a vampire doesn't affect it drastically either*
great one person is going to make it bad for the rest of us long live the VAMPIRE!!!!!!!
it should be considered heinous becasue she was crazy, slashed numerous spots then when he escaped tried to take him down with a pick axe, didn't mean to hurt anybody???....can somebody say attempted murder??
but it will completely backlash the community because most of society looks down upon it anyway, so adding this may cause them to think were all loons capable of murder.
That's crazy. That gives the Vampire Community a Bad Name.
This gives drugs a bad name.
Given the "twinkie" defense of yore, some clever attorney might have been able to make a sanguinarian case for the woman, but not with the drugs and alcohol.
It will make people think even more negatively about them.
Ummmmmmmmmm WOW.... sick bitch.. i mean to each their own but that is just not right.. you know she could have asked him if it was ok to drink from hum but just to take it.. not right..
It is going to be increasingly difficult for our culture to be open to the public...nobody really believes we exist...so anyone coming out and claiming to be a vampire will be persecuted socially as well as declared mentally unstable...
wow thats crazy but yes she will give vampires a bad name their not all like that.
psh, that man had it made and just didn't know it yet. Nothing says true love, like being tied up and milked for blood by a beautiful (or not so beautiful) mentally unstable woman. I mean....who WOULDN'T want that?
I have doubts that her actions will have much affect on the Vampire community. The press will soon be bored with her and move on to the next lunatic. I believe that most people won't remember so much what she said as what she did, and even that will be short lived. Insanity is a daily part of life, soon someone else will take her place in the spotlight.
This will reflect so poorly on all of the gothic comunity, not just the vampires.
She is not a victim of mass media, she is a moron that chose to believe what she sees instead of actually thinking before she acted. It has been actuons like this through out history that have made vampyres out to be monsters. Just the same as witches. Its pathetic and ignorant of her to have done this and I think she needs psychological help. She should not be forgiven her sentence though. Hurting that man and attempting to drink from him without his permission is unforgivable.
I feel bad for the guy though. He will never trust another woman I am sure.
You know I just wanted to add this reminds me of the old saying one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. This one bad woman will make some narrow minded person think all members of a certain community are like this. Those all statements cause quite a few problems. I am sure they will never think to themselves that I do not know everyone in the vampire community/lifestyle. I am sure not all of them are some nutjob that believes everything they see in a vampire movie or read in a book about a vampire.
Taking by Force was the Downfall.....It will make it harder for the Vampire Community but it happens.
I would have to agree..the general public already looks at vampires in a bad way for the most part. They don't understand just what they are or want to learn. This kind of thing could and will just place an even bigger bad mark on vampires in whole if anything was to be said about her true condition.
laughs and blinks...*Deja Vu* just read this threa somewhere else... But yeah This Woman is a Psycho nutcase and its people like Her who tarnish the rep for the rest of us..NO wonder Society thinks of us so badly .. its cause of people like this doing such stupid shit
i think they will think she is crazy and nobody will think anything more of it.
Creepy much? Hope nothing will happen to other people who drink blood WITHOUT stabbing people. :(
I am a true sang. vampire myself and my view point is that the woman obviously is whacked. I drink blood myself and I will also during love making but I allow the donor to cut themselves and if they wish to feed off me then I cut myself. simple safety precautions should be in place. Personally I think the woman is getting exactly what she deserves, people like that give us a bad name. I only take what I am permitted to take by my host.
Things like this give the good vamps and doms a bad name as they cause hysteria, in reality thank good sickos like that are far and few in between. they could never make blood drinking against the law as people such as myself are dependant upon it. My GF is the ONLY one I will feed off and the ONly one ill let feed off of me. I try no to trust to many people its way safer that way. and when shes not here I feed off my brother hes the only back up I need.
I think most of this was brought on my drugs and alcohol...and pure ole mental instability. The part about where she chases him down the road with a weapon just screams insane. Of course, this is going to give those that drink blood a bad name. The general public will think that because there's one (or two or three) nut(s) that they must all be nuts.
What's that saying? One rotten apple spoils the whole damn bunch.
OK, the woman was screwed up to start with by doing the drugs and stuff, then to stab someone to death to drink their blood didn't help out matters either. It's people like that which make people afraid to accept a different idea of people in society, to refuse to see a different society within itself, also, she ain't helpin' out tha name Tiffany none. Sorry, my southerness is leaking out.
can we sy nut house for the woman?? and it will possibly hurt the community
The general public looks at vampires as myth or as self delusion. This person fits their idea of what they think the claim of a vampire is. How different that is from the reality of your subculture is a matter of debate. However, I see no reason to doubt this woman's admission of being a vampire anymore so than the admitted vampires on this site. You can't marginalize her and claim she was a wannabe without casting similar dispersions on yourself.
Your best option is to take note of the drug and alcohol abuse and marginalize her actions as someone out of control and chemically abusive.
or mentally unstable, or a cannibal, or just plain loveable.
Lol, thats a little weird. Though everyone has there fetish's? O.o
this is a situation which the vampire comunity should try their best to distance ourselfs from. It verry well could come down bad for us all. If we as individuals of a society break laws, at least be smart about it, because it looks bad on the rest of us, and like their isn't enough bad blood between the norms and us anyway.
just my thoughts
Every time i turn around someone is doing something to ruin what we have worked hard to achieve people around us are starting to open up and become more open minded. Now from stupidity of others the rest of us suffer! and people are becomming more affraid!
