I thought that it would be a good idea to find out how many people believe that vampires really do exsist or think that they make one hell of a story. I would like to know, if you believe in them, are vampires evil or good or is it their choice?

I personally don't really believe in vampires exsistance, however, I do wished they did exsist. I've always been infatuated with the myth of drinking blood and immortality.

All depends, if we're talking about movie vamps, then yeah they make one hell of a story. Otherwise, i believe that some people do have vampiristic tendencies.

movie vamps make a great story. real vamps are just that real vamps neither good nor bad they are just vamps.

I'd have to agree with Katina that some people do adopt a vampire lifestyle, i.e. being awake all during the night, wearing custom-made fangs, etc. I personally have never met someone living a vampiric lifestyle, but it certainly would be an interesting encounter if given the chance to!

it depends really as vampire has so many meanings i mean there are plenty of evil blood thirsty people in this world. but vampires like angel, blade ect i dont believe in them they are just a fantasy but its such a good one that its almost possible to believe just not quite, and a lot of people do have certain habbits that vampires portray....so maybe vampires do exist and no body knows exactly how to tell the difference between a person and a vamp as they may be near enough identical and have the same lifestyles. whos to say what is real and what is not?

Then on another train of thought, if you can imagine something then it does exsist on some level, even if it's not this one.

I think movie vampires are fictional. I do agree with others that vampiric tendencies occur in real life some by choice and some by nature (or disease).

I think to lead a vampiric lifestyle can be of your own creation/creativity and your contribution to the beauty/mystic of the vampire lore.

there are vampire role-players (probably every member here, that claims to be a vampire is one role-player)... and there are the supernatural vampires (above the natural), which some VR members continue to call them as movie vampires... IT IS WRONG... many years before even existed electricity (when i say many, i mean it), supernatural vampires were mentioned in lots of cultures, in different ages and many claim to seen such creatures... i know for sure that supernatural vampires and werewolf's exist... and this is not a belief, this is a fact... don't expect to find one in every corner, or don't expect that one day, one vampire will pop up in front of you... it's very difficult to find them (but possible), so, anyone who wants to find them, got to investigate them... you can find clues in the internet, but you will never find one, just by surfing the web... vampires do exist...

I believe that people use vampires, werewolves and other such creatures to understand things within themselves. That is how I associate myself with vampires. I do not drink blood, nor have I ever. But the though is very erotic to me and the desire to do it is there. So if YOU believe they are real, then they are. Beliefs are based on life experiences and gained knowledge. The reality of such creatures is different for each person as each person themselves are different.

fantasy for the most part...there are those that need to feed off of others..and those that have other traits of a vampires...in the movie sense they are not real...

I feel it depends on if you want to consider people whom live a vampiric lifestyle or hollywood stuff.
I do know that there are alot whom live that lifestyle evn drinking and sharing blood so It just all depends on whom you talk to I think

I think that depends on what version, hoolywoods fables of vampires or living vampires, i believe the persona of the living vampires here are very much real.

as a born sy vamp then yeah I guess we are real although hollywood does do a good job at creating stories about the sangs...but it does make me wonder how many l tink tey are vams just cause of tat and how many actually are

I believe that some versions of the vampire are real. And I think that just like humans it is their own choice to be good or evil.

Movie Vampires make a great story. And some of their traits I guess could be from Real Vampires. I have some Vampire traits. I don't bevlieve in the sun will burn me stuff...I don't believe the garlic stuff either. I mean...come on? Who really came up with that?

As far as the energy feeders, I have no personal experience with it so I can't say. I take them at their word.

I believe that it's a great story and better than the average i terms of enagin interest but until I meet one, have to just keep currentwith literature and films .

I know vampires are real. The extent of what they can do varies greatly from fictional tales and what can actually happen. But the basics is true for all of us. The need for energy from other humans.

There are so many stories in so many cultures about vampires. Some of them dating back to practically ancient history. Cultures that never had any contact with each other had basically the same stories. I believe that vampires are completely real.

If they exsist or not is up to the individual...or some Fantasy can be reality...I for one believe that in every tale there is a truth...

I think they exsist in one form or another. I dont believe in the shape shifting, cant come out in the sun type of vampires. However, I think that the type that feed on emotions are very real. Musicians and other artists feed off of emotion all the time. Either way I think it makes for an entertaining story.

And as far as good or evil, thats probably just a choice.

I believe in sang., and psi vampires; but as for the mythological/movie vampire, I don't really know. I suppose I believe in the possibility of them. I cannot imagine how dull it would be without things to go bump in the night.

Movie vamps are definately a good story to be told. I do believe that alot of people believe they are vampires, and some have vampire qualities. No joke, I am highly sensitive to sunlight. I will break out in blisters and hyperventalate.(sorry if my spelling is off.)

As a matter of good or evil... It is all by choice. A person can choose to be good, neuteral, or evil. Just depends on what they want.

i think that they are real. i believe that by definition they are "outcasts" and so by the whole of society are then deemed ---evil.
but this begs the question----is odd, evil?-----the answer is in the meaning of the word satanic. satanic means odd--evil---not of the "norm". so yes they are evil, but being bad is just a choice.

Well I think Vampires are real. I mean, Aren't we all vampires... even just a little. We're on this site aren't we? I guess I think we all believe in what we think is real. Ghosts are rel if you believe in them... if not, they are nothing but a bunch of campfire stories.

I believe that Vampires are real and that Vampires are around us all the time. I have believed in Vampires most of my life.

personally they exist for me. not the media hype and story telling, but those people who have the need to consume energy wether it's through the cunsumption of blood or the pulling of aura from another. they are able to survive without these froms of energy but they are never sated.

I appreciate all the responses to this thread, so many views. Orthis, what traits do you have that make you a vampire? I think that people who claim to be vampires either have blood/energy cravings or want to be imitators of the hollywood portayals or romantic stories, but if energy is the case, why not just drink alot of Full Throttle? lol. But seriously, what makes you a vampire?

I am not sure if vampires are real or not, because i have never seen one in person, but if their are true vampires around then i would have to say that they woul;d be evil because to survive they would have to kill human beings, and vampire legend was way before books and movies...

I believe the are some truths to all myths and legend, look at the story of Elizabeth Bathory ( spelling). I find her interesting.

they came from many years ago, from almost every cultures and in different eras... society says it's a myth, and you guys swallow it... without the minimum effort to try to prove if is real or not...

I figure it this way. Whether or not ....THEY.....exist, I'm having fun. I have met many wonderful people here who may, or may not be real.

Part of the thrill is the "What If" Factor of the question. I for one have tasted blood more than once, although I have to make sure I don't overindulge :D.

Another thing to think about is that every Myth has some basis somewhere in fact. THis leaves the possibility open for a great many things, including Vampires.

Personally I'd like to have an open mind on the subject. Vampires over the years have been the subject of so much myth, lore, legend and fancy that the definition of what a vampire truly is constantly changes with each story and era that interprets it. So I believe I'd say they do exist, even if I might never be sure of what definitive definition or description to ascribe to them. After all, "There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy, Horatio."

"Hollywood vampires" are just the popular myths and tales that have already existed twisted with the flavorful tang of suspense and drama associated with the industry. It makes a compelling story to the moviegoer and creates an appealing, seductive and horrific image all in one. It's an old yet still wildly popular story that sells and attracts. Whether vampires really exist in the same image as Hollywood has chosen to tirelessly represent them is open to debate...

Vampires only exist if we allow them to. I am not trying to be vague..but I am at the same time. I personally don't believe so for me they don't exist. Someone who believed would argue that..so for them vampires would exist.

I don't believe in vampires. Something being immortal isn't logical to me.

Vampires do exist and are all around us. People long ago and hollywood exaggerated the effect to make a fantastic story.

I would say that everyone has their own perspective as to what a "real" vampire is.

I have done some reserch on this matter and come to find out vampires are real but not in the movies or fake stories made up of them but in Romania and Transylvaina look up in any library the true story of vlad tempest and all of the knowledge you seek will be revealed to you... Then you decide...

I don't believe true vampires exsist, I think the story is more appealing to me. The thought and imagination of stories, movies, myths is fascinating and hard to avoid but I see no proof that they are real.

i really dont know if they do or not sometimes i want to say i believe they do but then there are rimes i want to say nah they are just a myth lol

Personally, I don't believe that vampires are real besides the one that hollywood creates. I do think that people have vampire-like tendencies in the way they act and think.

That's a tricky question to answer, as it depends on your interpretation of a "real" vampire versus a "fantasy" vampire.

Well as far as "real" vamps that live forever . No to me they are just a good story . The modern day vamp sub culture . Yes , I think that there are people that "feed" on emotion , maybe even some that feel better after drinking blood . As far as gaining supernatural strength , speed , and powers . To me that will never be more than just a good story . Unless I see hard proof with my own eyes.

I believe they exist. How could someone make up something like that same with werewolves? I mean Zombies is stupid because there is a parasite that gets into your brain and eats some of your brain causing you to be in a sort of coma. Then you get burried because they thought you was dead. You rise up out the ground acting as if you were the undead.

I absolutely do not believe that vampires exist in reality. Vampires are now and have always been fictional. They are things of dark legends and stories. Sometimes fantasy is better than reality because fantasy can be anything we want. Vampires are fantasy.

vampires are fantasy and every area of the world has their own depiction of what one is and how they are... so many differant types in the world of fiction too. The vampire is the only fictional character to have survived for so many years with such versitility which is nice to have one with flexibility.

Vampires.....Real or not? I say real. But then again I don't subscribe to the myth and the hype of Hollywood. I believe in a more Natural Vampire. The Kind of Predatory Vampire that the Human Race is really afraid of. But hey. Thats me. LOL >;]

Vampires are just good fantasy. However, there are people that use this name as a parallel to something other than fiction. A part of their life, how they live, what they need... and most of you are familiar with that- so no need for me to 'school' anyone.

Good fantasy, so good that humans want to enter the fantasy realm, and not just humans from the 21st century. This myth has held sway for more than a millennium. Ancient fantasists may have engaged in practices ascribed to vampires, and may have passed on vampiric traits to their progeny. alas, immortality doesn't seem to be one of them.

I think it all makes one hell of a good story.

I haven't yet met one person that claims to be a vampire that can actually prove it.

I believe they are real. But not the way they are told about. I dont believe they are the undead, suck someones blood dry, afraid of the light etc etc etc. There are bats that drink blood but not like how we tend to believe. They only drink small amounts.

A little bit of both. I believe that behind every myth there is some reality. There has to be roots some where for it to start and some thing as wide spread as Vampires thru so many century's and cultures there has to be some basis for reality in there some where.

Hollywood style, Bram Stoker style no I don't think so. But I have truly been around people who suck energy from those around them.

Even thought we do not have any specific proof, or a fact in our hands, I believe vampires do exist.

In the end it seems, that several people have claimed to believe that there is a possibility for vampires to exsist, and yet something is always missing. No one has the actuall evidence that vamprism must exsist. I think someone earlier said that we think the fantasy is so good we want it to be real. In our heads it becomes real to the extent that some evolve their lives around the fantasy. Thanks to all of you who have answered the question to the best of your abilities.

I mean ..... it would be fantastic if they existed ..... but there`s very little chance, in my opinion.

You know... not all myths have any speck of truth. People try and say some truth lies on all myths... but to me that is BS. It may apply to some things, but surely not everything.

I wouldn't even want vampires to be real. They wouldn't be special if they were. I like to have an imagination. I wish the world would stop trying to convince us our dreams aren't dreams. It's taking the colors out of the world for me.

Every truth has a lie and every lie has a truth. It's so hard to know whats real and fake any more. I believe that if I was ment to know I will know. If not than I guess life will go on as it should.

I fervently believe that vampires do NOT exist. However, I have no proof against that, and so I consider Vampires to be a theory. Like evolution or something.

to me the hollywood vampires are just nonsense that make money for film-makers. As for people who believe themselves to truly need to feed off of another's blood to survive is silly role-play nonsense that the person is really in to, or they just have some serious issues.

I do believe people probably think they're real. I do believe in psychic vampires however. Maybe people just like to romanticize the "hollywood" idea of them to the point where they believe they're real.. I don't know.

I'd have to agree with you riotstar, there are psi vamps and sanguinarians out there, but as the hollywood approach a definate no to that .
