well, the wife and I use what we call an herbal method consisting of various herbs and a smoldering piece of charcoal. Along with a smudging of sage and sandlewood incense.
Belladonna and hemlock are part of mine… kids this is very poisonous and only an experienced witch should make it for you.
Tell me more about yours?
The herbal ingredients are the wives, she does not tell me what she mixes, but the smoldering charcoal tends to make things smell rather charming.
The sage and incense are for the added effect, since she knows I am very suseptable to the workings of smell.
I tend to focus on a candle with the burning items, then turn on either DMX pure moods, new age, or light classical.
This is totally new to me. Quite interesting though, I'll have to look into it.
I have never heard of such a thing myself except in films etc.
I know you gave warning to the youngsters lavisbre....generally speaking they dont tend to take notice....hopefully no details of dangerous herbs will be in plain view.
Sinora, I think what Lav is refering to as flying...Is Astral Projection. By means of meditation with the ways of his craft.
Correct me if I am wrong Lav.
I've never used herbs for that reason, I have to make do other ways, because things like specific herbs, woods, roots, etc. are next to impossible to get around here.
I think I'd stay away from hemlock and belladonna though, even though there's plenty of both here, I'm clumsy and would end up poisoning myself probably :p
I have never used herbs. I feel that unless you are 100% sure on what your doing with them then leave it alone, there are other means of doing things.
in my circle we send messages on the smoke using sage picked by a pure soul and sandal wood in a fire than burn a note written on rice paper with our message to the other planes
Amaltheia.......take enough 'herbs' and you can experience pretty well anything.
Personally I fail to see how such experiences can ever be called 'real'....but each to their own.
As most would say, the mind makes it real. What ever the mind perceives, this would be to each their own.
when i started reading this the skeptic in me was yelling "poppycock, POPPYCOCK. its opiates/hallucinagins" so i read on and felt so much better when astral projection was mentioned. if it wasnt i was going to lose faith in VR.
hottubmolly > take the poppy out of poppycock and the plants in that particular family are exactly what you you have mentioned.
flying ointments are totally new to me but they seem quite dangerous if not used properly. I like to use sage and sweet grass burning for bringing me the right state to travel.
I don't mess with herbs at all other than medicianally and they are prepared but I am not into Wicca and I have done some Hoodoo spells but I didn't use much in that way beyond oils. When everyone says sage...what specifially are you meaning...that family is rather large?

Hi soulsshroud
Sort of this is part of witch craft taught in the countryside of England on the moors.
The ointment is placed on the body and you mount your broom and fly… it took me a few attempts to do it right… I felt the worlds joining and this can make you puke as the energy fields get heavier, you hear a rushing buzzing noise in your ears this too makes one feel like being sick… I ran down a path trying to take off and fell then rose and zommed off at this bat with red eyes my guide for the night I pierced the reality like a bullet and carried on my trip out of reality… the event looked like this .. I puke fall running down a path trip out lol
Hi Mysticwinds
I also travel astral wise this was no astral event that is controlled with no use of herbs. this was dimensional trip using herbs
I use herbs and oils, but I have never tried that, very interesting.
i haven't really looked into the craft but my wife used to be a firm believer and wanted to practice the same things as above before forced out of it. She used to be very experienced
Yes the name is flying ointment but not to literally fly on a broom, you need an airplane for that or some flying device known to mankind.
I was surprised when the local “witches and vamps” in calgary didn’t know what it was… im starting to see an advantage in being Celtic trained in the arts so to speak in england.
Yes, I would be interested in a fuller explanation of just what is involved in this. I suppose this is not the place for really going into detail of this craft though. I love anything Celtic.
I see you are training for the society of Druid? Turning Magi on me Lav?
I've always been interested in spells, potions, etc but i've never had the opportunity to do any. I don't think it's something that someone untrained should do alone.
I would consider it a second profession more than a hobby. Such as sometimes when you need a full on ritual to get certain things accomplished.
You may have a belief system turned ideally into a religious viewpoint by most in society, but we must not forget that casting is in itself a job, not a religious fiasco.
Soulshroud … for I am legion
I grew up in England living next to the stones, I met many paths… druid reconstruction forgets it set the path… that my friend will guide you to the truth.
Understandable Lav. Your point well made...Though the confidence of your belief system is seven fold.
I hate three fold for it’s ignorance to Gardner’s teachings.
7 fold I think is ironic and nothing more than a divine comedy.
Even those I speak in riddle … druid past is means more than the fiddle
Every Craft as an advanced system that is not taught openly. This is one of them. The flying that is mentioned is not astral but real - but not really. Its one of those things that doesn't follow reason and one reason why it is not taught to anyone. I'm surprised that the thread was even started. I will not give my reasons.
Scott C. does have some of these ointments listed and a safe version for you to make. He doesn't teach how to use them however so please don't bother with them unless its just for meditation or practice. Only make the safe versions!!!
If anyone wishes to hear some of the stories about this kind of flying, you may find it in "The teachings of Don Juan." There are other techniques found in Tantra practices too where you call the White Light that some people see on near experiences. I'm not for the beware warnings but if you do follow advance teachings on you own,you better be ready for a change of perception of reality. Astral traveling with give you a headache if you force it but this will confuse the Hell out of you if you are not properly prepared for it.
All "never heard of it" posts will and have been deleted. This thread is not a poll.

Not my fault I tend to speak in a sarcastic manner...You caught that. Shows common sense, not to sound condescending mind you.
But I do know what you mean. Riddles of the ages, as with Egyptians from times past. You are as experianced as I had expected, no less.
Lavisbre, could you possibly give us concrete directions in which to achieve such abilities? I would welcome such an opportunity.
Never tried flying before, that would be rather intriguing though. Astral travel I have done to as far as ones mind would carry...the only thing I can't figure out is how not to slam back into your body afterwards...the headache is horrid!
Do you belive it is possible to go off into the astral realm by meditation alone, with no additives? Just deep concentration and pure thoughts.
you can get a book of spells at any book store. There are many diffrent things and ways to fly.
No i have never tried them.
You can also join societies that share that common interests. Books will only get you so far. And you actually have to believe in it in order for you to gain what you desire.
Well, I have some recipies I want to try out from Germany. The old witches must have been very wise herbologists. There are no meassurements, just the ingredients needed. I do not consider myself experienced enough yet, to just go with it, but I am calcualting and reading my way to the right meassurements.
I cannot wait till it is ready.
As lavishbre said, most flying ointments are poisonous so do not mess around with it unless you are 100% sure.
well that is a new one to me i have never heard of that
This is new to me, but also very interesting, I think I might read more this.. thank you for opening my eyes to this.
My Grams first taught me.I am second Circle Duridic (although I do not attend any more) They taught me also.I have been makeing them for a very long time, and as someone said if you don't know what your doing dont mess with it.It is for a spiritual reason not recreational use. With me it is used a certain times of the year.Or for a solitary journey for a specific reason, that is rarely.True lard is the best base.

Traditionally, flying ointment was a hallucinogenic preparation of herbs mixed with fat and applied to the skin in preparation for the witches' sabbat. This ointment was prepared in order to enable witches to "fly" to the sabbats; in reality, the sabbats were products of the hallucinatory properties of ingredients such as henbane, belladonna, and mandrake. (In many cases, users of flying ointments were aware they were not truly flying, describing their attendance at sabbats in 'spirit.') In most accounts, these preperations were applied to the skin; sometimes they are described as being applied directly to the broomstick, which has led to much speculation about the nature of the application of the product. Today, there are still many recipes for flying ointment used by modern witches. Some of these contain inadvisable traditional ingredients; others are herbal substitues created to enhance psychic abilities. Interestingly, many modern experimenters describe experiences similar to those of the medieval witches.
Very cool. Maybe one day I will be able to be at a level to try it.
I don`t use oil and grease!
Just boiling and the cold method.
Also I got to be away from any electromagnetical perturbance in order to use my energies for that.
I use spagiric alchemical methods.
The plants in my country are unique and their ability of healing is great!
Howeever those methods require a great amount of time.
I have never heard of this it sounds very interesting. I will look it up some more,
I've never heard of this either but would like to learn more....
years ago i knew a witch named star who would fly or go on trips
i have heard of flying ointments but I have never used them, I use more herbs for healing than anything else.
I did once try a datura tea made from trumpet flowers, with an experienced guide and mentor.
I may fly naturaly I may astroproject myself when I am awake even for this u must have a higher understanding of the human mind and body for a vampire like I am this is easy when u have a college reading level in the 6 grade
astroprojecting... hum flying out of the body to some were else is that what your all talking about..? I heard of it and no some who have tryed it but i havent personally.. but if i could had in my past i would be in some serios trouble with my girlfriends...
i had touched on this way back in my teens... I do not remember much of it, but had a couple of recipes... have no clue what happened to that notebook i had all my stuff in, from back then
Hey this is an awsome subject. Nvr heard of it tho. Tnx 4 the info.
Thank you NocturnalGoddess for finally answering my question! I had asked in an earlier post if it was a physical or spiritual 'flying'.
Kevil,
Oh, you are so right about the slamming back into your body! LOL I did this all the time when I was first learning to travel in the astral. My "most aware" times are just before going to sleep and just before waking up, and I do a lot of dreamwork, so it has always been most natural for me to meditate right before going to sleep, and then slip away from my body when I'm in that peaceful, drifting state anyway. But, I failed horribly at first -- I'd come back with slam, jerk up with a gasp, and startle my poor husband. LOL It gets easier with practice. I never got headaches from it, though.
...and no, I don't use any herbs to help the process along, although a good witch friend of mine told me that a safe version is to put dried mugwort in a small pillowcase and take it to bed with you. Note: one should NOT ingest mugwort, except in small quantities in a mixture prepared by an expert, because, like most flying ointment ingredients, it is POISONOUS.
boneyardvixen ... hi flower.... no one would not be flying on a broom actualy ... that would take a motor and wings for sure lol
i thought if you read the post you would see that mentioned lots lol
The scent of Sage and Amber send me to another spiritual realm.
never used an ointment before, would love the recipe here
we cant flower... you need to know what your doing a first level herb user would know not to..... ;-)
this is all really cool stuff and i have read about such things ... and would love to learn more
did i miss something?
::looks up trying to find the error flower said::
flying ointments are not used in my practic however in the old times the sumerians use to do practices in sacrifice however times do change now its just incents and belife in the practice much like the druidic cults of old thigs do change however i was a wiccan at one time and hear of such thing called the fliying ointment however it never worked for me.
hi Kontradiction we cant give recipes as they have a poisonus nature for those who dont know what there doing... if you have to ask your not going to know what to do lol
sorry
Hi Razietempest all religions of old sacraficed and even now take the body as bread n wine as blood... lol
as for wiccans ... not all are witches....
witches are witches ... im a witch and not a wiccan... just felt i had to point out that common error
Herbs aren't exactly my forte(sp?). I use crystals to travel to other realms and astral project.
(I couldn't even tell you what poison ivy looks like and I've never dealt with a reaction for it, so I'm definitely not going to go around working plants I know next to nothing about *smile*)
not anymore. it was also the first thing i learned but i like to use more advanced craft
I am expierianced with belldonna and it is not somthing to use without proper preparation its effect can be quite scary
It is something new to me.When I go to other worlds I just usualy close my eyes and concentrate.Think is one of the reasons I am so tired during the day is because when I should be asleep I am in another world.Still trying to balance them but there are sometimes I am not sure if I have been to another world as I am so tired.
~Lady D~
i am expereanced in the craft .the use of flying oil is exelent for meditation and going to the other plains
If you can make flying ointments please let me know as I can put you in touch with a good many companies and organizations that would pay empires for such ointments.
send me there numbers.... i dont think america will let us sell ... your laws are tight on such things
well time to close this one as i see some members find it on the edge to talk about such things.
also it is for the advanced herb users and not the common wicca book reader lol
mind you they wouldnt find a recipe in a modern book
