There are many ways to foretell the future. Which way do you think best does that? For example the I Ching, Srcying, Casting Runes, Tarot, ect.

The problem with the future is that its full of holes. You will never get the whole picture no matter what you use. Foretelling the future through readings is only through outside forces anyway. How true can that be? I have found that a simple pendulum with yes or no answers works the best and ends up actually working.

I really wouldnt know..there are simply too many variables..free will kinda makes it tough to tell the future...at least for me.

the way i look at it why would you like to see the future you should have it come to you as it should

Each one of those mentioned are unique and special to many different people. Not sure which one would be valued higher than another.. just different means that different people have an affinity to use.

Not sure if I'm all that big on knowing too much in my future. Perhaps some things, but not all.

As according the the "free will" standard, even if one could tell theirs or others futures, would this talent tend to want them to try to change it? And if so, would this change be fore the better or worse?

I think there is a reason why the future is unwritten, and why the past cannot be changed. As his would take out "free will" altogether.

I use tarot cards, scarabs, and scrying myself. I am of the opinion that the best method is the one you are most comfortable with. Also these things are in my opinion only able to show you what is likely to occur if things remain the course they are currently on, so even having the reading could change everything for the better or make it all worse.

I use tarot cards very rarely because future is now and I often change my future by myself or see future by thinking so.

I have used Tarot cards, but I don't use the readings as a definite conclusion as to what will happen in my future.
Like the seasons, what may or may not happen to us will change.
Some may use the many ways of reading the future to walk a path not meant for them.
The best way of finding out what will happen to you is by living each day.

There is no "best" way. There is whatever way you are comfortable with, that works for you. You may not need divinatory tools at all.

I have always had my future told with tarot cards and thats been many years ago. You can't have it done too often because when you have it done there isn't a time period of the reading unless you have a major crisis happen in your life.

Somehow tarot works best for me, it is easy, fast, and practical, and it really works!

I would have to say tarot cards they are my favorite. But scrying also works.

But the future have so many holes and are not really set. So i would say it is nearly impossible to look into the future.

I prefer Tarot however it only shows possibilities. We can change outcomes with the smallest change. Tarot cards are useful to provide guidance rather than giving an outline of what to expect.

As for the ways of telling the future - I don't believe any one way is better than another. I happen to feel rune stones.

When I say "feel" I mean I have tried other things but couldn't get into them. When I tried to read Runes it felt like something just clicked into place.

However, fortelling the future is tricky and since many variables can affect and change - the futures would change along with it.

i myself have used tarot or a pendlum as a way to see into the future events to come though i really dont use them much only when my friend wants a answer to something which isnt always what she wants to hear. Do i think it can be predicted yes i do a long time ago i had a reading done and most of what she told has come true.

gothmarionette - you hit a good point when you said that it gives you "guidelines" as with anything in life you create your own destiny. A person has the power to make choices whether good or bad. You can't live your life by a fortune thats been told to you because depending on the choices you make you yourself can change that very outcome and change you own future especially if you didn't like your reading ;)

When I read for the American Tarot association....we always had to put on our replies...tarot is a guideline...many people can change their course.

Yes and no answers are good...but not for the future events that people want to know as will I hit the lottery.

What ever happens in the future it is just nature running it course and the free will human were given.

I agree with the already stated 'guidelines' - many things you can use for foretelling, are given to you as a guideline as something that may or could - possibly given this information, you can act and change the outcome.

I don't feel that any of those methods accurately fortell the future in any way. The future is forever-changing. One, in my opinion, can not forcast it.

As I stated ,free will would not allow for a future to be cut in stone.But I have often thought that there are several possible outcomes to any given situation,and the things we do in the present determines what the outcome will be.So when any future reading techniques are employed,what the reader might be seeing is just one of several outcomes.And if done back to back,and the reading comes out differently,it could be just another possible outcome scenario...Wonder how many choices there are?

I have a friend who swears by the Tarot and I'm interested in learning more about Casting Runes.
As for foretelling the future - these methods can be very helpful. But, I also think there are many things that could change the future unexpectedly. You never know absolutely what would happen.

personally i use tarot cards, but I do not mess aroound with telling the future, The futre is sosnly someones interpretation of what might be. Not what could be.

There are so many ways of reading what may or may not be out future.

I'm a bigger fan of tarot cards than anything else, simply because they employ an idea of randomness that reflects the random nature of the future. That having been said, I don't truly believe one can really accurately see the future. The future is a vast map of variable paths that one can walk down. All tarot cards an other such fortune telling devices do is tell you which path you are most likely to choose.

Personally, because the future changes so much depending upon our actions, I tend to read for future trends so I can have an idea about the best way to proceed.

Really, Tarot is my favorite, but I've also used oracles, scrying, and runes. Runes are my least favorite, probably because I haven't worked with them often. Scrying is one of my favorites, but I'm best with Tarot Cards.

I have used Runes and they seem to work,I also use the power of my dreams which as of now am learning to Astral plane,though I prefer not to go that far I think you should let life give you what you get

I know it's technically taboo (I'm a pastor's son and also a Christian, and I would NEVER tell my mom I've gotten tarot readings), but are such predictions actually forbidden persay?

Oceane, you're right. It is just to difficult to tell. Even the widely known foretellers such as Nostrodamus couldn't state their visions clearly and absolutely. Perhaps even if you can see the future, without a reference frame you can't tell what is going on.

Imagine 100 yrs ago if you saw a vision of JFK getting shot. What would that mean to you. A guy getting shot in the head. War? Assasination? A random event? How would you know it was a president?

Many prophicies test to be nebulous. Like the horoscopes in the newspaper. They could fit for just about anything. The next day you can certainly find something that happend that fit.

No, no one really knows what the future will hold for us, but one can make predictions and make a lamp in front of themselves so they don't trip and break their head open.

Openeyes, I would say that it would be difficult to determine which method works best. One would have to use all to foretell the same event and then compare after the event occured.

I find a pendulum is helpful. Tomarrow I get my first tarot card reading from a trusted person. I also got in a tarot set today for myself to use. Just on the beginning of all this.

I also believe that the future is what you make of things today. It is not in stone and is changable, making any predicitions based only on the current course of action.

The Tarot has been accurate for me...much more than any others and I think i have probably tried them all.

There is no best way to see into the future. Some people are talented at using tarot cards or scrying and others simply lack the natural ability. One thing is for certain, Miss Cleo is not the best way to see if you will succeed or not.

Now you're talking darkside, how would one set up such an expiriment. This is actually cool if you think about it. Get several trusted foretellers using different methods. Might be able to set up a future date and ask for info. Any one have any othe ideas?

I think that either through divining or tarot for personal. But anyway is a good way, those are just what works best for me.

I don't belive anyone can foretell the future, one can only give an idea on what could happen, nothing more.

I feel the best way to discover what the future holds is to watch it unfold. So many variables make any sort of accuracy shaky at best.

I have had many chances, but still have never been able to change the future. Even skipping that person, that next turn... all comes back around when you lest expect it. and the actions that have been seen, occour...

The Future is also something to be learned... the more you learn the more you understand.

I agree with ladydragon, watching it unfold in front of you would be the best way. I wouldn't want to know what is going to happen it would ruin the surprise, and i like surprises.

We can stage a Rave future foretelling contest. We should be careful what we use to test it. Some things that are binary in nature would be a good test. "Who will win the democratic primary" is a little too simple, anyone will have a 50% chance of winning.

Like someone sad...picture of future is full of holes. Its up to us to fill up those gaps. Personaly I don't belive in fortunetellers. Maybe I had deal with frods.

i see fortune telling more like casting a spell to make a future happen rather than seeing what is to come.

Each person has their preference, no one thing is the "right" thing. I prefer tarot cards.

I always liked the tarot cards but I think even those just give you an idea of what could be you future is what you make of it

I use tarot, & runes frequently in divination. I dont think there is a tool that is the best... certain ones are just a more confortable fit for the seer...

to tell the future.... just wait on it... it'll happen... I promise...

You can meditate and use logical conclusions and reasonable deductions and foretell the BIG future on the BIG scale.

The only problem is the little details. You can't see them until its too late and it is the small details that bind to make the BIG picture.

I go with tarot... but nothing is ever certain....

I have some friends who use tarot at it seems to get them by pretty well. Trying to interperet the various card and their meanings can be fun too.

tarot or tea reading its in the perception of ones beliefs here. for if the future is told than do we believe it cannot be changed from where it is headed. i shall wait for the future to unfold. Do not get me wrong, have done tarot readings and had my palm read, but like i said its in your belief.

No one knows what the future holds for each of us. There is no accurate reading.

Even IF we were able to see our future, it still doesn't mean it's going to happen that way because the future hasn't happened yet. We accrue changes in our lives that change our future.

I use Tarot cards as well as runes but only as guidelines I don't think there is any accurate way to tell the future because there are to many possibilities to chose from.

More people need to think that way, Abaddon. =P

From what I have EXP. the best you can do is get a basic guide as to what direction its headed not really any details and you, your self is really the only one who can make the future for your self.

I believe the future can be planned. I don't believe it can be foretold,as for the tarot and other ways of looking at the possibilities, I've never used any. I only know, I thought I had my future mapped out, only to have it torn apart by a higher power. Life is ever changing, I choose to try to roll with it.

I comtemplate in sleep in dreams.

If there is a particular issue that I am posed with, I apply much waking thought to it for several hours.

I then go to sleep, with my mind wound up thinking out the issue. As I dream, my mind is able to subconsciously determine the best choice or avenue.

It works and has done wonders for me, especially with solving work and family issues.

there is no way to get a completely accurate prediction. it doesnt matter what you do. though some methods work better for other people. personally i prefer tarot cards.

i wish there was a way to see what the future holds but for me that can not be accomplished, not sure if i would like to know, the thought of the suprise is exciting also

We should not be trying to look in to the future any way. We are not meant to see what will become of us. If we do it just gets old.

A lot of our future is laid out by ourselves. If you will something chances are good on it happening. Once your mind is fixated on a certain something then your mind will find that certain something everywhere.

The future can never be truly planned or predicted. Yes, perhaps you can use the cards or other meathods to take a look at an obstacle that may be in your path, but there's never a gaurantee that trying to prevent the obstacle doesn't make you hit it harder or faster.

I agree with it being to hard to tell when free will is a factor. Only the one who created us will ever truly know.

Free will gets confusing as well. How do we know that we have free will? Do we, or do were we simply programmed to believe that we have free will? Is there a thread discussing that? If not, would people like me to start one?
