Here's a question brought up by a profile I read... If you really were going to live forever, what would you have to live for? What would keep you going?
living forever would be a curse, we would see loved ones die over the years it would be detrimental to our soul.
living forever would be capable through art or writings in which others would admire or read the works other than that it would not be fulfilling.
i must disagree...while really living forever would be impossible , even for count dracula, having an indefinably long life span would be wonderful. think of all of the events we could witness...all of the travel, the music, the chance to meet so many.
yes, you would watch those you cared for age and die..but dont we do that anyway? wouldnt you also be able to learn to love others.
i often think that there cannot be enough time to do all i wish to do....an extended life span would be wonderful indeed.
~W~
yet i do see your point on witnessing events that happen through the years, yet my perception on the future is bleek one, and the events of the pass may have been worthy ones, yet the future unless changed will we castrophic. but everyones view is different on this point for loved ones and friends would be new every twenty years for you would have to decieve individuals to be not noticed.
LordWolf, while an extended lifespan would be wonderful, not to mention infinitely more possible than immortality, I would imagine at some point it would become more of a curse to live so long. At some point, you're bound to run out of things to experience. Then I would think it becomes a desperate search for things to experience.
i would live for love..if i had them to live along with me...
I'm with LordWolf. I rarely get bored, and I have a long list of things I'd like to do.
It would be a curse unless you had someone to live for
I've given this some thought before, forever is a hard concept to wrap the mind around. Think about a hundred years, then a thousand, then ten thousand, a hundred thousand. Forever keeps getting longer and longer. A million years is just a fraction of eternity. I guess one could sit and wait 5 billion years for the sun to burn out. I don't think I would want to do that.
Sometimes the length of a standard human life seems more like a life sentence -- the penalty simply for being. I can't imagine how anyone might endure even a significant fraction of eternity.
I think I could endure eternity if I had individuls around me I loved and if I did something to make the world a better place. I'd be happy and I'd have a reason to stay alive.
I see what other people mean, though, by saying that eternity would be a curse; but I just can't get enough of life.
I would love to endure an eternity...To witness the many wonderful new creations and modern to futuristic marvels society has yet to reveal. To see just how naive the world is by so many wars that may be started and finished all in the name of greed and power.
It is a wonderful, yet ignorant world we do live in. I would just love to witness the running of the course in the eyes of history first hand.
It is only boring and monotanous if the individual lets it become that way, initiate and a confident outlook must be maintained throughout the course, if the individual wishes to keep their sanity. Then again, is life really that insane?
I also think that living forever would be a curse. It would be horrible to watch every friend you ever made, everyone you ever loved pass away before you.
Lots of terrible things happen in the world today, innocent children get killed in wars, the kids of today are robbing the elderly for tiny amounts of money...
The really sad thing is that it will just get worse...
And i wouldn't like to be around to see all that.
But if i was, i'd live for myself.
I'd help those i could but i'd keep my distance to avoid watching them leave me behind...
Isn't that Twilight's tagline? Meh, anyway if I was going to live forever, I'd use my time to learn everything about everything. Knowledge is power, right? ;)
think of someone living in the 1600s brought to the modern world. would they think it would be horrible? perhaps....after all, you cant just settle a disagreement with swords (i rather agree with our "guest" on this one), but the plague would be less of a problem to people. you couldnt do and say many of the things that you might have done and said (at least without being cast out of society), but we have at least have a cure for syphilus now.
i dont see the future as bleak or sad, but rather full of hope and adventure. there will always be rough spots, but i also have faith in the creature we call human.
i while yes, id have to watch those i love age and die...that is nature and it will happen even if i die tomorrow. frankly, while i do care deeply for my friends and loves....my existance is not tied to others; i can live for myself too.
lastly, if my lifespan were to become a burden on my soul, i have an easy way to fix it. death. there are so many ways to die...all one would have to do is to choose one. but ...until that night happens, i plan to live and enjoy myself. if my death is in 5 nights, or 500 years, i will live for this night, and enjoy what i have.

Living for ever, wouldnt say it would be fun, but I would say that if I was going to live forever -which seems to be a very long or a very short time depending on who is looking at it- I think it would be the never ending search for the best ever book, the perfect food, that song that means everything and says it all, and if it was possible, to find someone who could handle eternity so I could have someone I loved to be with. If not, well, I suppose then that I could fill my eternity with meaningless sex as long as I got to stay young for my eternity. And perhaps I could pick up some new occult knowledge or maybe some nifty powers or something, that would be fun. lol
Just to flip the coin
After reading the full of this post, I must say that (due to the amount of people who have posted saying that eternity would be a curse) we all (and though I posting this I too am guilty) put too much of our happiness in other peoples hands. Id like to hope that those who love me would be happy as happy can be even after Im gone, because that is what id want those I love to do. Id like them to find every adventure that life had to offer, try new foods, listen to every song that they could, talk to new people and make new friends. Forever is a very long times, yes, but if one of my beloved were to live forever, then I would hope that they would live for all the things that I couldn't.
Your memories would soon fade the mind of who would be living forever, like a dream from the past, like many certain parts of our life is just a blur or no recollection of it.
So in this as friends or loved ones would pass than the only thoughts or memories would be the ones that are taking place right now.
It would be a curse, for everything would change, life , loved ones and the culture, soon it would be just a redunant part of your everyday exestance.
I think it will be an admirable thought that we would live forever. Can we, truly seek that, what lies ahead of us. Life is ment to come and go, but if the selected few are given that right will it be a curse or a enternal bliss full of darkness?
If i knew i was going to live forever, i would travel to all corners of the world and gain every new experience, there was to offer. Learn all i could about everything. Read, write, talk, just absorb new information every day.
well one persons curse could be anothers Bliss. My opinion is to live forever would be a catch 22, I mean if family died and you kept living after awhile that would become very straining on a person. You would have to be very strong to even think about living forever.
Yet, I do also agree there would be so many events and historical things that I could witness, and see.
Once you've lost everyone and everything important to you once or twice it becomes almost impossible to allow anyone to be important to you again. You begin to gain the awareness that the more important they are, the greater will be the loss. And the loss is inevitable. A single lifetime of this pattern may be longer than some can endure and they should not be blamed or suggested to be weak. The alternative is an eternity of total solitude and loneliness unlike anything most people are ever forced to experience.
Well you would have an incredible amount of time to travel, That would be my first interest if I were to live forever, But the foremost I wouldn't want to live forever, I have no desire nor delusion of eternal life, I would rather die than to grow old and decrepit.
Hmm.
While I would be curious enough to enjoy the idea of watching the rest of time go by, I think there's probably more to consider than just whether or not you have loved ones there with you, or whether you'd be going it solo. Life isnt easy on most people during the course of one lifetime, and considering the number of very unhappy people under the age of 40....~chuckles~ Immortality does not guarantee unlimited wealth for instance.
Imagine your existence today. If you cant seem to improve your lot in a single lifetime, how likely would you really be to achieve it in 20? Or 20 times over, every 20 years or so?
Lastly, if one could sit back and watch, wouldnt you want to meddle in the affairs of those you watch? I know I would at least be tempted. But extra years dont always make you wiser or more knowledgeable. Often they make you more easily frightened. Would you be able to sit on your hands for eons, wanting to stop this war or start that one, and thats supposing you could do so and get away with it. Do any of us currently have the ability to influence the rest of the world on that kind of level? Probably not. Imagine sitting back indefinately, looking at the world in the same way you do now?
Being trapped in this realm of reality permanently would not exactly go over well. The way I see things, this place we call Earth can be, in a way, considered hell. I'd much rather be able to pass on then be stuck here for good.
i find death to be amazingly sad. one works their entire life to acquire knowledge and wisdom, and then its all gone. as much as i would miss those i loved after they passed, it would not make me want to die, any more than i would want to die now if one of my friends passed. i would keep the experiences we shared alive and they would be remembered, even if i had to write it all down.
as for the post about losing your memories....again, that might be what a journal is for. i have memories from when i was a small child, but i also cant remember what i had for lunch a few days ago. that also is a part of life.
someone brought up a good point....no, i wouldnt want to live an extended life span only to be old and decrepit and unable to enjoy it. my argument about wanting to live for that extended period would be on the assumption that i would have some semblence of youth, strenth, and health.
i would want to travel, to explore, to have adventures and lovers, sex, food, etc. life is to enjoy, not to sit in the shadows and waste away in sad thoughts of those you love.
were i to pass tomorrow, i would want those that love me to remember me, but in joy, not in sadness, and to dedicate some of the joy they had remaining to me as well. (perhaps they could get naughty on my grave! LOL)

This was the question on the cover of the Twilight Cover, A concept that makes me cringe, even an the concept of an after life makes me cringe, reincarnation same thing, "Here look forward to more of the same." Even if it is likely to change, or be "perfect" (like heaven is projected to be) I would not look forward to living forever, in an "soul" or body.
If I was to be Forced into Living forever though, I would press the limits of endurance, taking every risk considering if I was invulnerable I would eventually wreck the vessel enough to advance freely, and unteethered.
there are actually quite a few people that do believe in living forever, christians for one. i think they live for love. "only in love is there life without it there is death and annihilation"
That's true, Saint
But believing in living forever and actually living forever, as a physical being, interacting with other physical beings, are two different things. Most forms of theism seem to touch on the human psyche's difficulty with grasping it's own mortality. Our consciousness doesn't seem to be wired to accept itself as finite and when you think about it, why should it be?
We're products of evolution. What evolutionary advantage is offered through a consciousness that accepts its own demise? While we consciously accept the idea that our bodies do die, our sentience seems to have much more difficulty accepting that it dies along with the body. This seems to have lead many (likely most), "spiritual" beliefs toward the idea that the consciousness, which is a product of the biological body, somehow lives on beyond the body. And rather than accept the logical, most people seem to find it far more comforting to discard the logic in favor of any one of many fantastical tales in which they live on in an unsupportable form, as a disembodied consciousness, in order to avoid the obvious conclusion.
No one lives "forever", we return to dust from where we began.
I would study. I'd learn and work on all the little things I want to be good at now but can never find the time. I'd fill every moment so I wouldn't have to ponder time. Once I've mastered everything I'm interested in I'd start in on things I don't really care as much about.
beast17:
well thought response but christians, unsure what other spiritual faiths hold as true, believe that death of the body is only a transient state. on the last day body and soul are reunited. so the physical body returning to dust is only temporary. dying is a misleading term, it is really a birth into the fullness of life.
religion based faith on what the body goes or does when it dies, is their own faith based revelation.
yet society on every aspect knows not what lies on the otherside of death. So faith based orginazations derived a spirtual plan for all to go.
But would this be considered living forever. or the soul remaining to live. The body does die and does return to the earth. " the old cliche"Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust" comes to mind oin this.
age alters your perception of time. when you are young, a week seems like forever, when you are old, a year is fleeting. if you were to live for a thousand year, a decade would be nothing more than the blink of an eye. what would be the point? there would always be more to see and more to learn, but no matter how long you live, there would not be enough time. our perception of time contracts to fit that which is alloted to us.
and jeeze , what would the pain be like? every day i grow older, i find a new ache and pain that just adds to the rest. eternal life would be infinite pain - no, i dont think i'd like that. not unless infinity gives me enough time to get the hang of masochism and learn to love pain.
Obviously there would be 2 sides to immortality.
On 1 side: You'd have to endure the loss of friends and family. That right there would possibly not be worth it.
On the 2nd side: You could fulfill all of your dreams and desires without ever having to worry about your time on earth being up.
Life goes by at such a fast pace. It's hard to do everything your heart desires. And some don't start pursuing their dreams until much later in life.
Fin~
nah, i disagree. for one thing, i can't stand my family, so i wouldnt miss them at all. friends come friends go, most of them pass through my life and then i never hear from them again. some of them have died. it's sad, but that's life. the fact is, whether you live for a thousand years, or live for 80 years, many of your friends, and loved ones will die before you do. it's a fact - unless you die very young, you will lose some if not all of those closest to you.
as for fulfilling all your ambitions and dreams - no, you probably wont. faced with an eternity to do it all, there will be no real rush, so you'll leave it for another day. you'll forget about them, you'll miss the opportunity, you'll lose interest and lose the desire to do it - you'll never get it done. if you had forever to fullfill your dreams, you would probably achieve less.
Alot of us would not miss certain people yet, to me watching the days and years pass, the evolving world worsen or getting better, dramas of religion and politicians, economic woes and roller coasters. eventually the sane shall sanp.
And at some time wish for death would be more to come than waiting to see what happens in the following years.
Watch the grren mile the ending, where he wishes for his final rest and not to carry on more. this would be the example of this statement.
For the fun of seeing all I would like to see. Travel explore, and just look long without worrying about time. Sounds good anyway.
Karnstein - Thank you for your pessimistic views. Though not all of us see things the way you obviously do.
I for 1 do not hate my family. And friends may come and go, but the true friends are there for a lifetime.
I'm also not into procrastination. If I were to set goals then I wouldn't laze about. With all of eternity to do what you will, then what else would you do with all of time???
As for you wolf, do you never wish for death now as a mortal? :O)
i'd want to live forever if i had someone or a group of ppl i can still share my life with to live forever and alone would tear a person apart eventually
I imagine immortality would be swell, if you're an incredibly anti-social being, enjoying life as a hermit. Otherwise I have to think that the constant change of faces and watching your closest consorts pass through the years not untouched like yourself would be horribly difficult. To birth a child and watch him grow old and die, to lose your companion/soulmate, etc...sounds awfully lonely.
It's all good and well to say that Immortality would allow you to witness great things, but what about the negative?
The way things are going right now with the planet, will there still be a world for you to exist in?
It's also hard enough watching those around you die while knowing that you'll join them one day, an eternity of that wouldn't be worth all the "Great" events to come.
It's easy to say you'd enjoy living forever, but many take for granted the fact that forever means FOREVER...
To me it would be nothing but a curse.
Curiosity to see things developing and not worrying about, not doing the stuff I love to do simply because I don't have time, like it's happening in the present.
As for you wolf, do you never wish for death now as a mortal? :O) x sirenx
Yes, i think society has always thought or wished this, coming from a real terrible broken childhood, wished for something other than the life i was in, even death. No lies, these thought still in todays stuctral ruined society still come into play.
Do i think living forever would fit society and the limited sources we have left. no death will be soon, and we are to accept it. or fathom the thought down inside of us. we all must persih at some point, we live we di and hopefully are reborn to a better world.
cadrewolf: I think most of us wish for death at 1 time or another. The truth to it though is that if we knew we were about to die, I bet 80% of us would be begging to live.
I'd love to be Immortal. Health concerns would be 1 less thing to worry over. And it would give those who have had health issues that kept them from actually living and enjoying life, the opportunity to do their hearts desires.
xsirenx
the truth is about 65% of our society thinks or ponders death on a daily basis. These are high figures.(based on Socialogy College class)
true immortal would be good on the basis of being sick, no cancer or illness to slow us down. Thoughts would be so at ease in our society to warrent the thoughts of death. yet could we imagine if death was ever lasting, how would we ever surive on this planet. another contiplating thought.
i think having to share eternity with a small group of friends would be worse than seeing your friends age and die - you'd get sick of them. Jean Paul Sartre said "Hell is being locked in a room with your friends forever." mind you, all his friends were French, so....
yes cadrewolf, i have wished for death many times...but you may rest assured that ive never actually killed myself. if someone gave me "immortality" (compared to what? virtual immortality, or actual? would i last til the end of the universe or until the sun kissed me?) and i chose to die, i would die. im sure there are quite a few ways to end an existance, even an "immortal" one.
so, while i have sometimes wished for death, i always get over it, and go back to my natural state...having fun.
to respond to the post that mentioned the way the planet is going, and how life may die out....
i say back that i think as technology advances, we make things better. the air is much cleaner now than in 1964, the water likewise. we learn more and are able to fix more of what we mess up.
and lastly a little quote:
"the meek shall inherit the earth...the rest of us are going to the stars!"
~Wolf~
I agree with Lordwolf's philosophy. Make having fun your natural state. The older i get, the better this works.
Lord wolf
technoligy has gave us great advances, yet in turn it has hampered our life style. Air cleaner, than 64 not much is it cleaner than the 1800's no. we are still making progress yet th poison is still there.
Water cleaner , no all the inpurities that goes into water to make it drinkable anymore.
Medicine even with all its divine help has draw backs. look at the ads. 'if you take this it will help your heart, but side effects include............."
Living forever will eventually come to pass on some sort of price will have to be payed.
I do not doubt the logic you speak of but comapred to the life style of my great ancestors, we are slowly killing of the world as we know it. and yes we will eventually look to the stars for another colony.
I don't know if I could wrap my head around living forever. Life is ever changing and I cannot fathom what life would be like 100 or even 400 years from now. Could it end up being a curse...of course. After all, I'd still be at the mercy of billions of people who could destroy this planet and leave me stuck on this rock.
In the meantime, I'd strive to learn more, push the limits of my immortality and experience as much as I can.
I couldn't tollerate living forever. Would drive me insane.
Especially when we are slowley destorying the planet.
What would become of those who did live forever when there is no world to live in?
first...if living for a long time is bad, there is always a way out. from some of the responses, im surprised that there arent alot of attempted suicides here...after all...how long is too long?
second, i dont really think we are poisoning the planet. we have put alot of junk in the air and water....but as ive said, we are slowly learning to clean it up. i dont accept that we are destroying it. thats just my opinion tho, and you certainly dont have to agree.
third....again, as i said...if something does happen to make living here undesirable...then being immortal, i can head to the stars....
read a book by heinlein called " time enough for love"...it deals with living forever....yes, plenty of heartache...but also the joy of seeing where humanity will venture to.
it would be worth it to me.
~Wolf~
I agree with the really long life span. That's what I want and I want perfect health to go with it. At the end, whenever that may be, just drift away peacefully. =)
well i would like to live as lavatory ghost playing violine.... there is the most of the peace... no one comes there for i have no smelling senses that time after my death. ;)
I am not sure I would like to live forever but I would like to live for a long long time.
What would be the point of neverending life if one did not have neverending youth to go with it? Without some promise that the body would hold up to the caress of time. We age now, and as we age our bodies strengthen then fade away.
I don't fancy the idea that I would continue to fade forever. Better to live long with every moment filled to the brim and spilling over of experience to then to live forever helpless as time passed to do little more than exist.
To me, immortality has never been something I've yearned for. The thought of living for forever, while those I love are lost to time just has no appeal. Yeah, there would be sights you could enjoy, places you could go. But, really, how long could that keep one entertained? I imagine the world would lose that appeal it may have once had once you've been everywhere and seen all that you could.
It may just be me, but immortality seems more like a curse than an actual blessing, or some grand wish come true.
In the eye of the normal Mortal, living forever is a myth. But, what do they know? To live forever, is Beautiful, you just change town, every 40 years, and you will start again. To live forever, you need to know How and when.
to live an indefinate time....to me that would be a kind of bliss...not an end to itself, but a first step. as was brought up before, it would have to include youth and vitality, but with virtual immortality, i would have a long long time to find the answers to all of my questions....and i have more than can be answered in this single life.
~W~
If I had the opportunity to live forever, I would do anything and everything. I would go to college and study everything I possibly could, I would explore every part of the world that I possibly could. I would leave nothing un-learned, no stone on the planet un-explored. Once I'm done with that.. well... I suppose I'd get bored to death and have no clue what i'd do after that.
Living forever, would definently have advantages. On the same note, I am sure with the average human brain capacity it would make us insane. Emotionally, I think you would be testing your limits, I mean how many times can one truely fall in love, time and time again. Or go through the heart ache of death.
Although it seems cool to witness history. Is it really that cool. I mean we are witnessing it now, and only very rarely is it worth a note of intrest. Think about it...
I would settle for being a foot note in a history text, 200 years from now.
If I could live forever, I could gain wisdom enough that I might discover the keys to all knowledge. I could time travel, space travel, and visit other realms. Or I could gain enough wisdom to end up in a black hole and rott there for all eternity.
living forever would be like second change,
i will learn more about life and mistaken i made.
and do something good for people and animals.
am not afraid to broken heart, that makes life colorful.
and i can be anything i wanna be with that long age.
i think living forever would be a blessing and a curse. it would be wonderful to watch all the technological advances society would make. imagine how much wealth you could amass if you lived forever. but i imagine, it would get lonely and you would need to have companionship.. it is said that for every vampire, there is a chosen, mortal that can be safely turned witout the risk of insanity. so if you found your chosen one, an endless existance would be great. with the exception of course beig that you would have to watch your loved ones die.
don't think id want to live forever things would so get boring fast altho you could do anything forever who would want that anyways.. so living forever dose not strike me.. fun and if i had to dun think be any differnt.
The only way I could see me living forever is if I had no choice so I probably wouldn't have anything to live for.
living forever the curse of repetition in ones life, you would see everything and nothing else would be new, places traveled people, only the changing of culture would have its affect to you.
A curse to ponder and not take lightly.
Thought I would throw this in here..
Question: If you could live forever, would you and why?
Answered: "I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever," -- Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss USA contest .
I would live forever because I want to see what the future will be like.
Actually I would like to have lived since the beginning of time. I would rather have less technology. I wuld love to be able to horse back ride in the dark forest, and hear the stories of mythical creatures... then wuld lovd to have entered our modern world today. Its better to start at the beginning of the story.
I wouldnt want to live forever and at last my family and friends generation after generation.
I would never want to live forever on this Hell on Earth. Either send me to the real Hell because I know for a fact I won't be going to any Heaven if there even is one.
While it would be great to run around saying, "I can live forever," I don't think I would want to do so. Yes, I do have a ton of things that I wish to accomplish in my life, but what will I do once I accomplish everything I want to. What will I do once I see every country, every site that I want to see? I believe that one of the reasons we cannot live forever is so that we can truly have a purpose. After so long, you'd just get tired of the world, most people would probably even go into hiding, or find ways to kill themselves. To me, the question isn't whether or not you can simply live for eternity, it's whether you can live with yourself for eternity. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be able to look at myself in a mirror for eternity, day after day, seeing the same thing. Nor would I have the heart to watch all of the people I once loved die, and fade away with time, eventually being forgotten by everyone but myself. No...I do not think that I would ever want to live forever, if it were even possible.
I like what you had to say beastie(sp) forgive me bad on names
I feel that it would be a great pain and emptyness for one to live forever while everyone or anyone they carre for or love die and they carry on , I mean what are you gonna turn everyone so they can live forever with you?... I do not think so I mean Free will and all and I feel the majority would prefer not to live forever, just alot of things to deal with on so many different levels and to basically be around to watch the world pass you by as everyone else Evolve and you remain the same for 1000's of years..
No Thanks do not think so. I knowas I said earlier if I did live forever I would have to learn all I can and probably not let any one get close to my heart.
I mean after losing everyone and everything I hold dear, would definately put me on the edge of insanity ..
I think If I were cursed with immortality...I'd completely lose my mind before I thought of any reason to keep going...and then sit next to a rock for all eternity....drooling.
Well to make my answer short, i would live a long fun life doing what fulfills my existence, and in between it all love, if i can find the real thing, when i get bored of it all i will proceed planning my death...To live forever sounds like a prison of what truly is the beauty mystery of death.
to those that cant stand the idea of outliving friends and family...
most of my family has passed...and yet i remain.
i have watched friends die....and yet i remain.
i have had very little desire to end my existance because of it.
i have made new friends, and watched other members of my family grow and prosper...i revel in this.
the "family" that matters the most to me is that of my own choosing, those friends that become so dear that i consider them to be blood. yes, i have lost some of those as well, but i have made new ones also.
if i were to accomplish all that i wanted to do, i would not become bored...there are always new things to do becoming available. i think i just requires imagination.
for those that have written that you would rather die than live forever....ok, lets say you can choose the length of your existance...how many years do you choose?
why do i suspect that if your age is 30, you wont say 25. if your age is 50, you wont say 40. its far easier to say that youd like to live just a bit longer than it is to say ive lived long enough.
for those that seem to really hate this existance, im really amazed (and pleased ) that they are still alive.
were i blessed with a very long live (thousand years +), if ever i decided that i had enough, were i an immortal vampire, i would just watch the sun rise. im sure that no matter what your state of existance were, that if your head were separated from your body, youd be gone....so perhaps a nap on a rail road track?
point is im not worrying about the end...im having too much fun with life while i have it. we all will die, even if someone does get a thousand years, death awaits at the end...why rush to her? im sure she will wait for you!
again, just my thoughts
~W~
exactly...to live, to love, to love again.....and again....
there is always time enough to die, but rarely is there time enough to live!
~W~
If I lived forever, I would want to see what each day would bring me. I would wonder if it would be different or the same. What would keep me going? optimism of course.
Honestly all the stories of vampires and living forever all have their romantic side - it is truly more the story of loving somebody forever that sucks us in.
We long to believe we could find somebody to love unconditionally (even if we were - gasp, a monster) and forever.
Would I personally want to live forever - only if I had somebody I loved to share it with. When there is nobody to share your life with - almost every day is like a curse...who would want to make it that way forever? It would be a living hell.
would i want to live forever i would not mind as long as i with
my soon to be husband to share it with.
along with our kids.
Yet if we assume living forever, not all of our loved ones would hold the same trait in life, and may perish from our sides. than we are faced with a dilemma.
Living forever is the concept of stories and movies, to bring back the sequel to the monster who plagued the screen before. Life is life and soon will be death.Death is the only answer to lifes wonders.
to endure the fall of this bloated self important civilization would be wonderful.... to see the seven continents.... create art/music/writing on a well practiced level
sounds like fun
What would be fair about living forever i mean you have youre pyshiscal part then then the other part is unknown i think.

I'm pretty certain every single one of us has had to deal with the loss of loved ones, but you can't honestly say you wouldn't be bothered by that if you were able to live forever.
How could you honestly know that to be the truth?
Forever is a hell of a long time.
Comparing the losses that you've had within your life now to how many you would have if you did indeed "live forever" is like comapring a lime to a potato and saying they are one in the same.
I wouldn't want to live forever...
If you did you would watch all your friends and family die, you would watch the world become more and more lame ans technology gets stronger...
Personally, living forever would be my idea of hell...
But if i had to...
Then i'd live for me.
Do everyting i wanted to,
then help mortals, i'd try to stop them suffering, help them with everything.
I'd want them to have a good life...
However long they had left.
For one does not come without the others
living forever would have certain aspects to intice humans, yet like certain movies it alwasy comes with a price. we just need to understand both sides before a judgement could be made.
The insatiable thirst for everything which lies beyond, and which life reveals, is the most living proof of our immortality.
Quotation of Charles Baudelaire
Living forever i would want to be with my close love one, friends and family surrounded by there ever lasting love always for eternity.. The Gift where they also could be granted life forever...... a garden full of roses and beautiful scenery of waterfalls and other beautiful landscapes surrounded by angels and music enrapturing me the beauty of violins being played... singing choirs and plenty of laughter and joy that would be my ideal beauty of living forever ....
I wouldnt want to live forever. Maybe my spirit, but not my body.
No one lives forever , And I would not want to live forever in today world, Your soul may live on but yet your soul is not satisfied being lived on untill the pain of the past that it had endured while it was attacted to u is gone if that soul is freed . Then again the soul will also rest advenutally
Certain things do live what appears to be forever but it isn't man. Read the article over here, it's quite interesting:
http://english.pravda.ru/science/19/94/377/14828_immortality.html
They are thinking they could extend the length of man's life to maybe a 1000 years but true immortality would be that one would never die including accidents, etc. Perhaps they could come to the level of extending life to that end where one would not die of disease and age much more slowly. Beyond that I don't think I would want to live so long because, wouldn't it get rather boring? Maybe not I guess but it would sure give some the ability to be in power for an awful long time that might not be so savory. Hopefully this would not be for the rich only. It could cause a large gap in class and perhaps wars I am thinking. Then where do we go when there is too much population? Like China, would we have to limit how many births someone would be allowed and would we be able to have children much longer? I think extension would be fine if the quality of life is improved but forever I think has a lot of consequences I don't know if I would want to be involved with. I don't think they will ever be able to create total immortality where one would never die at all. Time will tell I guess.
Would immortality mean that we would stay pristine and beautiful forever? Or would we end up like the ladies from "death becomes her"? Airbrushed, painted, hollow and always searching for someone to fix us we decayed? Would you want to live with caution if that is what it meant? I wouldn't. What would be the point in living forever if you didn't really get to experience it?
So what if immortality meant that we lived for ever and never decayed. We stayed beautiful, losing excess body weight, having clear skin and all the perks of expensive body treatments. Would you get used to losing the people that you held close to you? Watch them die year after year as they grew old and weathered? I'm content with dying some day. No one lives forever. We prolong life with Science and Technology but they will NEVER be able to sustain skin, bone and organs long enough to live forever.
I would live to help people through their rough times. Hoping someday that one of those people would help someone else.
i dont know about all of you but i am going to live forever and i know it.
i may not have this body but it has its limits i dont .
i see life as it is only a window to see what will happen next this body we live in now will die but we do not .
Our bodies are only half of who we are , we are spirit made and there for cant die unless we choose to end in this life our own self .
I will always be who i am and live forever.
Nothing will stay the same every thing changes, time, places , things.
But they are all only tools , here on earth but i dont clam this as my home .
I am forever alive not because of self but beacuse i dont belive in what i can do but what we are .
We are much more than what we think we are because we only have the body to blam for this it is limited and we cant go beyond it.
But when your body dies , you will know all and o boy i feel sorry for thos that dont know what its all about.
The thing is i cant say myself that i do know all of it but i am getting close and that scares me a little.
I cant say or even begin to discribe what it is to be on a different level or plain but know this is only the first part for we are all as children when it comes down to it and unless we have the mind of a child then we will not make it in the end and you will die.
For you see a childs mind is open to all , it cant say maybe this is it or wow is this it.
A child says this is it because i see it is it.
I am a little scared to think to much about it because if i do it might just end this time i have here on earth.
It all makes sence you see for without this body to hold you back for every thought you ever could think .
There will be no lies , no hate , no hert, and all openess .
So if you are like this in this life then this life will be your end.
