Many are predicting the world is going to come to an end in 2012 and saying other things about it.

What are your opinons about these such predictions?

With the shifting of the North and South poles we will experience many natural disasters that will claim many lives and change life as we know it. Studies by Stanford University have shown that the poles have shifted before.

if you look more closely at the "end of the world" supposedly predicted by the Mayans you will find its actually the prediction of the end of an age and a new age will begin. Most societies and religions have predictions of the end of times but there is always a new beginning. we will either adapt to the new time or become extinct as is the way of nature.

Honestly, I think that no one knows when the world is going to end.

i would have to agree dear alpha , so many people we affraid of a neuclear holacaust that much the world hid under ground for how many days and weeks. and what happened? nothing. no computers going haywire. no major natural disasters nothin. it could be as simple as the person died or that they were describing more of an end of an era so to say. no one knows how or when you will die much less others.

the Mayans were obsessed with time and astrological events. They created a calendar, which happens to end in 2012. There are other "-ists" who claim a(another) major pole shift will take place, according to the alignment of the earth. This is supposed to cause massive extinction of some species, drastic climate changes, etc. The whole "end of the world" has come only from the Mayan calendar ending, but nothing was every said it was an ending, it's just where they stopped. Unfortunately, most of their scrolls were destroyed.
I also have read that the Chinese I Ching also predicts a major occurrence in 2012.
Many other "-ists" will tell you we are long past due for a major disaster, whether it be volcanoes, earthquakes, etc.

I think pretty much that it's really interesting to read about, but our proof of what is going to happen will be on December 21, 2012.

Well first off how mny times has the end of the world been predicted come on, it could crahs tomorrow or the sun could explode in 85,000 years and the earth freeze over and all lfie slowly die, but whatever happens happens.

I think like the Ice age that the poles shifting back to their original position will occur around this time. And that there will be a lot of natural disasters which will make it seem like the end of the world. This world will endure and continue as it always has. Many times I've heard the end of the world will come, mostly in 2000 and what? We're still here then people start saying the same bullocks every time there's a new century or a date with particular numbers like : 6/06/06, etc...there was even a book that in it was written that there was the possibility that the world would end on 5/5/05 and we're still here, now the major fuss is about December 21, 2012.

I saw a documentary some months ago, and it was said that it doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world but a new beginning, maybe a very positive one. That'd be fantastic. We need a new positive change.

Also people talking about another ice age era, global warming, an international war,...etc...what will happen really? No one knows and I don't bother, we have to die anyway.

Also, it's possible that the end of the world comes on that date, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's probable, it can happen any time, or it can happen in a million years of time or never. Also if it's the end of the world, it could be the end of people but not of planet Earth, it passed from a lot of disasters and is still living.

So yes I agree with whoever says, just enjoy life and not worry about it.

I don't know how they got doomsday out of all of this. I am not secure that the govenments wouldn't wait to announce something close to the end thinking that there would be panic and louting. This is only speculative and it could be a long list of things.

The calendar ends so what, the Maya mixed into society according to everything I have read or documentaries I have seen. It is also the Aztec calendar and I don't see a mass migration of native peoples out of Mexico or Central and South America or at least I haven't heard of one. They probably just didn't extend the calendar or it was because they believed a new age was to begin around the time of the end of this calendar. There are numerous predictions but there were at the Millenium as well. I wouldn't worry.

Well let's give this some thought from a different perspective. As a christian, I believe in prophecy. That being said, I also believe that no one knows when it will happen so that takes 2012 out of the equation. My question is that if we are all out of here 12/21/2012, what is more important, the time and the way we die or the way we lived?


It is alot less frightening for some people to contemplate the end of the world than it is to balance their checkbook. It is easier to think of it all ending for some than to plan for their children 's college.
It is alot less frightening for some of us to think of dying than how in the heck we are going to navigate our way around this blue ball for what could end up being 50-70 years. Death is easy life is hard. If you knew what day you would die, what real differance would it make on how you live and why? Why aren't we all living like we could cease to exist in the next 5 minutes? Seeing as all we are promised is this minute why waist it speculating that it will all be over in a bit over 3 years? We could all be dead by then.

2012 may have been just a convenient place to stop. I mean... really, who's going to keep writing the calendar? The Mayans may have figured, "Well, when we get close to 2012 we'll just pick up where we left off. We have plenty of time."

In the case of 2012, the prophecy is now set on the Mayan calendar. Many theories suggest that this is the end of days for humanity as we know it because an ancient civilization said so. Personally, I've noted something about this. On the calendar that was found with this 'apocalypse' date, there is no mention of the world ending. It just happens to be when the calendar ends. You have to remember that these people made a calendar on stone dating into the future for thousands of years. Imagine if you had every calendar for every year for the next 3 thousand years. That would take up a lot of space. It's highly likely that the Mayans either ran out of room, got tired of making up the calendar and figured they had gone far enough, OR that could have been about the time when Cortez and the rest of Spain came barreling through Central America. They could have all been killed at that time while making the calendar. There are just so many factors that you can trust everything on. In the case of the Bible and the year 2000 being the end of the world as we know it. Yet again, you can' trust in something so dramatic based on what someone wrote a long time ago. These days you would think humans would know better. But sometime, somewhere, one of those ancient texts is bound to come true. So keep on your toes people. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

In a post above it was mentioned that other calenders also ended in the year 2012.

The poles are shifting as they say, and that much I do believe, because of global warming, and the hurricanes and floods.

Lolz, I love it. I never dwell on that which I cannot control anyways. As for the Chinese calendar. Who really knows. There are a lot of unexplained mysteries around the world. Why does every culture around the globe have forms of dragons in their culture? Why did the Asian population have such a greater understanding of sciences than all of the other cultures? Why do the poles keep switching? Why does the world go through Ice and Heat Ages? Why do we evolve? So much that we don't understand.

I do believe that this is just another part of the Earth shifting itself around, to find balance within itself. I know that we may all think because of all the many awful things that have taken many lives with the natural disaster, that it will be the end of all things, when really it is just the beginning of another way of life! The disasters and shifting of poles is not new to human race. This will not bring to end of any race.

But no one noticed that we ae entered in start of dark ages, this start from dissatisfaction anger and compition to loot and harming others. the human race will not be prosperus day by day and to balance this few of them will shift to the high psychic living such as psychic exercises, meditation, etc.

May few high psychics such as david blaine or others may achieve kundalini awakening that year, may the aliens comes in friendliness that year from any planet. I don't know on what basis this year made such important.

Number crunchers like this can be disproved by a simple view of historical accuracy. When religion, science etc says something will happen, then you need only look at what actually happens. If there is a planet due on 2012 then we should see something pretty soon, if it turns out to be false then there will be someone who says it is something else. For instance the 'Age of Aquarius'...lol. Time bares witness to the fallacy of future predictions.

There is no date in the christian bible or hint of one as to when the world should end. The only hints are prophecy and if you are a bible believer the major ones have been playing out on the world scene since 1948 when the prophecy of Israel becoming a nation once more and her peoples flooding from the four corners of the planet to go to their ancestral homeland.

Christ says in the bible that no man knows the day or the hour of the end, but we can look for signs.

There is a 7 day theory that matches up the scripture that says 1 day is as 1000 years with good and 1000 years as is a day. So if the earth was re organized in 7 days, or 7000 years then it is thought that we are too be here 7000 years before another reorganization. this is not biblical, only theory though

Propaganda and hokey BS is right. Seriously, they said the world was going to end how many times? Many times. I can remember the last being at the same time they were talking about the Y2K. People need to stop worrying about the end of the world and live life the way they should daily.

If the world does end, would it really matter? We will all be beyond caring ourselves, because no one would be a live to care. Not only that, but people should have worried about what we were doing to the Earth years and years ago and how we were destroying it. Mother Nature doesn't like us all screwing with her.

I can see that everyone has failed to mention that christian and non christian scientists alike have pointed out that on december 21 we cross the Magnetic "nexus" (forget what it's actually called) but Nexus will work, anyway we will cross over the most powerful magnetic point in our galaxy, not just Earth but the entire Solar System that we belong too, and not only does Nasa speculate but alot of science organizations paid and volunteer, christian and non christian alike have all said the same things could happen

Either A. Nothing will happen cept maybe some minor changes that will only affect our satellites, cell towers, and the like

2. the poles will shift slightly and we will be affected in a minor but still profound way. which could really just not harm animals and humans and the like but just change the way the air and water on earth is

c. The Earth will flip completely upside down and sideways destroying everything and killing all bringing the earth back to it's former glory before we all fucked it up

or

4. the Magnetic pull on the solar system creates enough magnetism and force on the sun that we have the luxury of witnessing a Mega flare that wipes out the ozone layer and we all fry along with every other planet in our solar system.....

A lot of people didnt even know about the prediction until the movie was said to be releaded called 2012 by Sony, at least not in this part of the world. I think if 10 miles size planet hit earth the earthquake will hit the world and then the heat waves will hit the world as lava opened to air and hewhole in plate will make one good lake and the volcano mountains around it. Well, the Mayan calender does run out in December of 2012, but that may simply signify the end of an era rather than the end of the world itself. But who knows - the world WILL inevitably and inexorably come to an end at some point........... Perhaps 2012 will be it. Being there at the very end of things will be quite a ride though. *grins*

Well I feel maybe in their time when they predicted all this chaos to happen and cause the end of the world by 2012 that it could be that things may actually happen yet, I do not really see the world coming to an end in just less than 3 years unless the poles change drastically by then.

We have melting icecaps and things going on yet it seems that it will take longer time than 3 years, since we are aware of the constant changing of the planet.

I am not sying something may not happen cause things happen all the time it is called EVOLUTION* LOL the planet is constantly changing to some degree or another. Like many phrophecies we see that the truth is not there, just speculations on how it may come to be. I think that ifsomething did happen it would be a change in the world, whether climate or population. yet to say the world just dies is far out there and hopes that this is not the case.

I am not a satanist but I was speaking to my friend, he is a satanist and he said from what he believes, this is the last aeon. He said that there are many aeons but we are currently in the last one... The Aeon Of Lucifer. This aeon lasts for 4 years... (2008-2012)

He said that he doesn't know the exact date of when this aeon will be done. (The end of this aeon of lucifer = the end of time) There will be signs to show when this aeon will come to a completion. Then Lucifer will take his throne and the people on earth who didn't worship satan will suffer.

But Sara Teasedale predicted alot of things about the end of the world. She never went public with her views, for fear of being ridiculed in her era.

I personally don't think anything is going to happen and based on the post I made before and the websites I have given it don't seem like anything is going to happen for at least another 2-7 thousand years but I do know for the end of the world to come and for Satan to rule there has to be alot of things to take place first....


First the Anti Christ has to take the seat, then the mark of the beast will be handed out, but the thing about that is the people will have to want it for one and two it's a choice it's not suppose to be forced on us like everyone thinks either you accept it or don't there is no punishment if you don't take it by the way. then there has to be seven years of peace between all nations, races, colors, sexes, everyone. Personally with all the hate groups out there I don't see this happening yet either. I'm not Christian but I do belong to another religion.
And I believe that the Anti-Christ will come and try to make people believe that he is God. Only true believers will know the difference.

O lord..I hope the world does end in 2012 for the people that believe in that crap. And for the remaining ones to start something where "reasoning" is included in the daily basis. Since a wide range of the population believe in "something happening" by this year, I wouldn't discard the possibility that people in "high waters" use this multiple-cultural "prophecy" into what is another scenery to complete a well structured agenda, since vast majority of individual have shown this behavior by hear-say of people in the media, teli shows, and "scientific discoveries", it would be a formidable play to implement a new excuse.

The world has enough nut cases that are considered sane and apparently run the government openly. The following is a theoretical possibility that I wrote a year ago regarding the entire 2012 subject. None of it is based off of ancient civilization beliefs, or societies interpretation of such. I also listed my resources below for anyone else to read up on what I had put together. I do want to state that I don't necessarily believe that this will happen, but I do find the information interesting.

First of all, 2012 has been forecasted as being the year that sunspot cycle peaks. Now this isn't anything new. It happens every 11 years. According to some physicists, this particular sunspot cycle which peaks on 2012, will be 30 to 50 percent stronger than any previously.

According to Richard Behnke, the director of the US National Science Foundation's Upper Atmospheric Research Section,"this prediction suggests we're potentially looking at more communications and navigations disruptions, more satellite failures, possible disruptions of electrical grids, blackouts, and more dangerous conditions for astronauts."

Now this alone causes some problems, some of which could be pretty terrible, however, along with the rare astronomical alignment of our sun with the galactic plane also being predicted by astronomers, scientists, and many ancient civilizations, a natural catastrophe could possibly be on the horizon. Not to mention, in 2012, venus will be being making a transit of the sun, as well.

You see, my idea is that the possible gravitational pull of these alignments and cycles could possibly affect the sun, causing it to wobble, and it could also affect the equatorial diameter of the sun. This could possibly affect the solar flare activity on it's surface. Then, massive solar flares would rain photons on earth's magnetic field, possibly causing a shift in our planets poles.

It takes 240 some million years for the sun to go around the galaxy. An up down cycle takes 60 some million years.

During this cycle, we cross the galactic plane twice, becoming aligned with the plane every 30 to 40 some million years. This time around when we reach alignment with the galactic plane, we will be then be going above it which will take us out of the disk of the milky way creating less protection from cosmic rays.

Now, we go through this "up and down" cycle every 60 some million years. This, coincidentally, coincides with the 62 million year fossil diversity cycle. This cycle is determined by looking at the fossil record of creatures that die out every 40 some million years.

Our sun is aligned with the galactic plane every 30 to 40 million years. Species on our planet die out every 40 some million years.

In the least, I think this is interesting.

They have been showing so many things on that lately. And, there was another I watched some of the other night. It was depressing, so I turned it off. But it had a few more possibilities added in. It was on discovery or science channel or history, one of those.

I found vvSoulshroudevv post with the assassins creed video very insightful, and while it may be a conspiracy theory, it actually makes a hell of a lot more sense than some of the bullshit that the media comes up with.

Since society is always up for a sci-fi conclusion and has been duped into believing in some sort of Mayan Calender end of the world scenerio... Instead of thinking that it could be the end of an AGE so to speak, making a NEW era begin instead of something catastrophic from the sky like the old saying goes "the sky is falling."

I thought to myself and came to the conclusion that the Assassins Creed video made a hell of a lot more sense and in reality could happen sooner then the earth either collapsing, or being destroyed by "ultimate cosmic powers."

well there has been many predictions that have been proven and many have not and the people want to believe in them, yet I feel that we should look for our own answers as to the future and not depend on preditions that could just be empty words by the predictor.

The world could end anytime and of course not everyone if anyone will survive what ever may happen to cause any kind of destruction. Yet, I feel it will not end anytime soon unless some big meteor or something totally devastating happens in the twinkle of an eye that we have no tiem to prepare for.

I do not see that happening with all of todays technology... but.. that is just me.

All of the different theories are fascinating and I've delved into a number of them- aliens, polar switches, galactic alignments, solar flares, the second coming. Lots of different ideas all corresponded to the same year gives me pause to the credibility of such theories. If nothing else it will provide an excellent excuse to party.

Yes, you are on the right track there. Take the History channel for instance. There are a lot of shows aired there that contain tons of information you won't usually find anywhere else. Most of the time the facts are skewed and edited to make the show seem to make more of a point, but the truth is we really know nothing. Money talks, regardless of the information given out to attain it. People who want money like that don't care what the public believes to be true and not true. That's what the government specializes in. Controlling the information given to the masses. That's how to take control of people, keep them in the dark and they will listen to you. That's why just so recently in history so many uprisings are common than a few hundred years ago. People are expanding in knowledge and are noticing when the gov. hides something. I'm not saying the gov. is hiding anything about 2012. I don't see any reason why they need to. It's all about our beliefs on some information gathered from some old texts and artifacts. It would be nice to get the information all laid out in front of us with no lies or alterations to the findings. Then we could all decide for ourselves.

There is no reason to believe horrible things will happen in 2012. Things change, civilization goes through upheavals and the magnetic poles have drifted in the past.

We can probably be certain that magnetic poles will shift. The interesting question isn't if it will happen in 2012, but how a shifting pole and changing magnetic fields will affect our civilization.

Earth's magnetic fields protect us from cosmic radiation. Compasses will work differently, but, magnetic north isn't at the north pole now. The bigger question is how varying amounts of cosmic radiation will affect the atmosphere and what impacts it may have on food production due to changes in plant growth. Also may affect us directly. The cosmic radiation may just kill us.
