Skylla I'd say you have a touch of the gift..There are different gifts and well one and only one is the ability to predict the future.
There are people called touch-nels they see things when they touch something.
There are precog's and post cog's many different kinds out there and I am naming just a very few of the different kinds.
I have a touch of the gift as well.
Things like this have been in a way passed down on my moms side of the family. Whether you wan to call it intuition or a psychic ability not everyone has the gift or if they do know how to use it...

I have mixed emotions here, on one hand I see people on tv, that profit off of the grieving (Sylvia brown, james von whatever the fuck, john edwards) people that make audience members sign 10 page long contracts, people who's tv shows are completely edited and nothing like what the audience saw.....cold reading BS.

Then there are people who appear....to have some sort of "gift" but I don't accept that as the answer completely, not until every other avenue has been explored, every other rock turned over. It would be foolish on my behalf to just blindly convince myself that it is in fact something special, when in reality it may not be.

hmm, yes, one may just get the illusion that they are "psychic" when in fact they just process information differently. This probably explains why animals seem to be psychic...they have such well adapted senses (the 5 senses) they all work together to produce a strange, accurate result.

I belieev that everyone has their own meaning of what is psychic. I don't think of myself as one but I will same that at times I am more intune with my surroundings and can tell someone what id about to happen.

I agree with Morrigon on this one. Everyone has some psychic ability, just a lot of us are not in tune with it. And those of us who are, are just trying to deal with it, and control it enough to predict the future, to talk to the deceased or what not.

I think a psychic is simply a person who is more attune to their natural abilities to pick up on energy changes in the environment and in other people. :)

Like Mikhail mentioned, I'm a touch-nel, but it is sporadic and have not been able to 'on command' get images and emotions from something I touch. But when I do, it's strong.

I can only add or emphazie: 'who is able to decipher this sensitivity for practical purposes.' Unless you can give a purpose and be able to work/ decipher the message/ feeling, what good is it to be a psychic? You'll be known as a nut case case instead.

I believe that there is no way to 100% predict the future... those who mangae to know that things are going to happen ahead of time, are knowing this bc it is something that is routine.... or intuitive even. I understand what Skylla is talking about, as I have had those things happen to me also. I think that the majority of psychic ability rests, not in being able to predict the future, so much as it rests in the ability to read people and count the statistics and probablity of any given outcome....

I am not saying that you dont "just know" some things ahead of time, and I am not saying that I am completely correct, I am merely stating an opinion that I would be glad to elaborate upon should the need arise.....

A friend of my mine is psychic. A friend of mine never had seen him before. my friend went to a Club and this man was there as a DJ. They bumped into each other. he looked at her ans said I am sorry to tell you this, but your cancer is coming back. Sure enough 2 months later the cancer came back. I have gotten to know this man, he has helped the police find missing people, by the touch of a item the missing person has worned.

From what I have seen, a psychic is a person who can see through touch. What a person was doing at that time or the events that had happened around the certain object. Also, some that have been able to to pick up the "shadow" element of emotions in a room that had happen last.

Myself, I am no pyschic. I have been able to sense emotions from others. If the emotion is strong enough I can feel it. Sometimes I know when someone is hurt or in pain in my family. It usually is with my mom or sister, I feel the most on.

Well, we could make this a phrenological discussion but that would hardly leave anything but more speculation and unanswered questions...HOWEVER, considering the actual percentage of brain power exercised by humans -- who's to deny the possibility that those people that are hyper-sensitive can "sense" things others can...call it intutition, gut feeling or even deja vous. Ever think of a song and once you hop in the car and turn on the radio, it's playing? Is it coincidental? Never taugh I was a spychic but if I read corectly I am..I can know who will win a game beofre the first move, I amable to tell what tile will be pick (in a game where you have 13 numbers and 4 colours, total 13x4 numbers of tile in the games) I also know when someone is gonna get hurt, when someone is in pain or sad (and that is even across ocean ...well it happen only 3 times but I guess it count?) I am able to feel the presence of enetities and I can see auras...guess I covered the most obvious...hum...so does that define a psychic?

I think everyone is psychic in their own way. They have that gut feeling to tell them when things aren't right. Such as mother's with their children....

It is a survival tool that has been deadened over the years, because of ridicule and charges of it being the work of the devil. I believe the world is becoming more spiritual and more accepting of this gift. But most don't know how to use or hone it. Its a pity.

I believe a psychic is a person who sees into the future, or at least, a person who may tepepathicallly recieve thoughts or images as to something that may occur in the future. However, being psychic comes in many different levels. There are psychics that can see into the near future, the distant future, and even psychics that can read your mind. But like vampirism, being psychic (in the fullest extent) is not something you can achieve. It is something you are born with, although it may lay dormant for many years, or into puberty. But I believe that psychics to exist.

I can tell you of my personal experiences with this subject. Now this is something I cannot MAKE happen but it does. I blew it off at first but, it has happened too often to ingore anymore. I can just be talking to some one or sitting next to them. Then something seems to change around them....I feel the need to touch them sometimes . It's very hard to explain but to put it very simply I can tell if they are going to die or if there is something seriously wrong thats not surfaced yet. It happens with animals too. The last time it happened I told my friend to get his but to the doctor..something was not right about him....he laughed at me...three months later he had a massive heartattack..and ended up with a triple-bypass surgery. As he lay there , he remembered that day I told him what I did...it scared him. On a more grave note , I was driving with a friend, something made me touch his chest....the only thing I said was...I'am not going to your funeral! He was a young man! He laughed me off....again 11/2 months later , I saw him at his wake. It's to the point now , people get nervous when I touch them.These are but a few examples. This has been witnessed by others. I just think I'am very sensitive , to energy around me. I would be neat if a person could develope this sort of thing. I think everyone has the capability to do so. However, human beings, as we are now, have been dulled by years of civilization, not needing this extrasensory as more primative beings still do to survive. In that way , animals are really smarter...from a certin point of view.

I feel everyone has some psychic or intuitive abilities and you can develop them by working on them. I do have intuition and I have a type of Psychic touch for those who are closest to me. I get a feeling in the pit of my stomach when something is wrong in my family and it does not go away until I have found the problem.

I dabble in reading Tarot cards and have a bit of a knack for getting the readings out of them - but never too far into the future.

A psychic can be many things and come in many forms. One can be gifted in Empathy, precognition and so on. Often times a person can learn to awaken such gifts within themselves. Learn advanced things like Telepathy, Mind-Manipulation and so on.

I agree with the others in suggesting that all of us have some psychic abilities, but perhaps it is our openness to them that would suggest just how developed, or simply apparent, they may be. I can't say I am well versed in the subject myself, but I know that there are some sort of links between myself and those I am close to, whether by nature or nurture.

I'm sure there are varying degrees and styles of psychic ability as stated previously by others, but as I said before, I'm no expert on the subject and therefore wouldn't dare to pass any judgement!

When all life is completely predictable, of which some people can predict everything, as I have found life doesn't really have too many permutations, then there are some people, very few people whom can direct you through doorways you do not even see, they are called psychics.

I like to think we all have some sort of psychic abilities. Some are stronger than others and some just haven't awaken to what they may have dormant inside them.

I can agree with what my sister Hot4blood said. To add on to that I feel as though its like a 6th sense. Allot of times people over look many signs given to us. Some people are open to it. While others fear it and last some just do not wish to believe it.

Sorry, I give us more credit than that. Why can't we all have ability; in whatever form but at different stages of development? Some people may not have reached that stage at all and some may never. What if those that never develop this was are the ones in the minority?

I beleive in differnt kinds and levels of psychics. There is womans intuition, mothers intuition, deja vu, visions, dreams, etc. I think everyone experiences these things from time to time. Just today on the Montel Show Slyvia Browne was back to I guess the word is tell more about this coming year...things that will happen they have proof of things she said would happen in this year like the Britney Spears thing most say that anyone could have known that would happen but it did she is divorced. Another thing she said would happen in the year 2006 was a vaccine for cancer which has also happened a vaccine for cervical cancer the number 2 killer of women in the US which was made June of 2006 and also a hormone that would keep weight off...which was in December of 2006 a long acting insulin called levemere actually reduces body fat in type 2 diabetes patients, earthquakes she predicted in india which was a 6.0 and a 5.9 in mexico city, also volcanoes one in equador went off, and of course the prediction about president bushes popularity DRAMATCIALLY decreasing! (though who couldn't have predicted that a well). So even I myself am starting to believe she isn't a fake. Still have my doubts but can't ignore fact and fact is she predicted these things and they did in fact happen.

I'm not a fan of celebrity psychics. I regard them in the same manner I regard televangelists. I'm sorry to all of the Sylvia Browne fans out there, but I don't believe or follow her predictions. I use to watch her on the Montel Williams show when I was younger. In 1997 she made a prediction on TV that there would be a global cure for cancer by 1999, something she called gene 51. This has obviously not happened. I find it amusing that when psychics are right people oooh and aaah, but when they're wrong it's swept under the rug like nothing happened. Pointing out that she can be wrong doesn't necessarily make me right. It's all up to individual perception anyway, as is everything in this world.

I personally believe these so called psychic abilities are enhanced perception to specific energy exchanges. Some people have the ability to decipher their perception, and some do not. I hope to some day before I die research the occurrences I've had, and develop any abilities I may possess.

I'm going to take a less "supernatural" bend to this.

First - most psychics are frauds. If anything they're good at manipulating an audience and telling people what they want to hear... generally those eager to believe - people in search of an answer that they can't get elsewhere - people with a lack of self-confidence or fear or whatever has led them to search beyond logic for an answer.

That being said - there are people who seem to have an uncanny grasp of other people's thoughts and emotions. Part of this comes down to how you process information - how good one is at picking up the subtle EXTERNAL clues that point to what is going on INSIDE the mind of another.

If you look at the Meyer-Briggs-Jung personality types - there are a few personality types described as being "empathic" - the iNFj is one of these:

Personally I think that description may go a bit far, but I'll 100% buy the "empathic" part of it. I'd need to see more evidence of the rest.

Psychic and Intuitive to me are just degrees of the same gift. As some have already mentioned, being better in-tune with your surroundings and the emotions, vibrations, energy of yourself and others...then developing the ability to interpret those experiences.

In my own opinion, someone who is psychic carries an extra sense allowing to do things with the mind. Such as predict events to come. Making things move or change shape is also something psychics can do. But just because you made one thing do something, does not mean you can call yourself psychic. It is rather difficult to put into words. My favourite type of Psy is precognition. But thats all i have to say on the matter lol

I believe there are some psychics out there that are real, I don't believe the ones that try and exploit themselves and others for money.
Gifts are gifts and should be respected as such. One is given those gifts for a reason, not to be a side show or a talk show host.

I cant scoff at you for liking Sylvia Brown becuase I to have found her to be very interesting. Im not one to disprove her abilities. I have been blessed to know people who have these ablities and just dont question it. A psychic is basically someone who can predict anything and everything that will happen. I believe that it is just intuition when we know what a person will say or do. But if we know let's say all the time then there is a big possibility of a psychic force. But that’s just what I think.

I think that everyone has the capability to be psychic. I believe that psychics use more of their brains and that is where their power comes from. They say that we only use 10% of our brain. Psychics could be a baby step in evolution so eventually there will be a society of nothing but psychics. I too have little respect for the psychics that collect money.

Godevil I like how you articulated your post. Each person who I have been blessed to come in contact with that have the psychic abilities have been much more spiritually enclined then I.

Spirituality was breed into me. I grew up knowing that there were things I couldn't even begin to explain (or comprehend for that matter).

i too have found that most persons of a psychic nature are also very spiritual. i believe it comes from the act of reaching for a higher conscienceness.

A psychic. I believe we all possess the ability to be psychic, but do not all excercise it. A psychic is someone who is totally in tune with all of their surroundings. I believe they are able to use parts of their brains that everyone else cannot. I think that animals possess this ability. They are so in touch with their surroundings that they know when things are going to happen, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and other types of weather. There are many different terms that go beyond a psychic.... Maybe I am wrong but to me psychic seems more or less and umbrella term. It can mean a person has different abilities. Examples include:

Clairvoyance ~ means "clear-sighted," or the ability to see in the invisible (to physical vision) worlds.

Psychometry ~ is a form of extra-sensory perception wherein a person holds an object in his or her hands in order to obtain information about the object or its owner.

Precognition ~ Basically this is the ability to see things about the future.

Postcognition ~ Is the ability to see things from the past. Past lives, etc.

Psychokinesis/ Telekinessis ~ Basically states mind over matter. It would be the ability to move things (and more) with ones mind.

All that being said. I find the term Psychic to be a huge umbrella term for many different things. :)

I am sure some people are better attuned than others and may not always be active in a person. I have know police officers who on a patrol just happen to be in an area where something really bad happens yet it's not an area that they normally patrol. They would later say they just felt like driving through there. Is this psychic? I don't think so but they were picking up some kind of message because it happened too many times with different officers, male and female but only ones who had been on the job for several years. I too enjoy Sylvia Brown but that's because of her stage presence rather than an actual belief in her predictions.

I completely understand what happens to you..that happens to me all the time! I call myself psychic just for a laugh but I know I really am not...I think we just have strong senses to know when something is going to happen although we cannot tell the future...a psychic has strong senses but they are able to use them all the time and on command while we cannot.
