While I was reading thru some other threads, I had a thought regarding this. How many of you have had a near death experience ? And if so, do you have any rememberence of it ?
I found afew sites regarding this listed below.

I have, but then Im not sure what you mean by nde. I was frozen in my car when they found me.I dont remember anything but my mind calling my mother to get me out.I flatlined twice with a core temp of 88.
I woke up days later in icu.I got up to go to the bathroom and there was a hand print on my butt.No one knows how it got there. No one laid claim to smacking my butt.
I had one mine was really scary i was in a car wreck and as i was going off the road i swear i could see an angel
I nearly suffocated on the most stupid of things a jelly bean but i passed out and went blue. It just went quiet so quiet I just remember gaining conciousness and feeling a sharp pain in my chest where they heimliched me
I went into a telephone pole at about 70 miles and hour. I did not see a thing all i remember is waking up and see a cop in the front passenger seat.
oh boy Ive had several since I was a child.
when I was 5 I swallowed a sour ball, dry (you know I poped in into my mouth with out getting it wet with saliva.) I was watching the Batman sitcom, I inhaled the candy. I turned blue. Another time was in childbirth with my second child. I had a C-section, my heart stopped. When I came to in recovery I said "hey its nice to be back" my doctor laughed!
I have other stories besides those 2
I've had two near death experiences, both when I was little too.
The first one was I almost choked to death on food or something like that.
The second one I had an extremely high fever, I think it was like 104, and the nurses at the hospital told my mom that if she didn't get me there when she did I could've died.
I got cut off and hit a curb on my bike doing about 70. Flew into headon traffic, but the only thing on my mind was killing the bitch that cut me off.
this is interesting. My own car accident confuses me. I was going 35 mph on an icy road(going up a steep hill, normal speed was 55 mph) and I didn't put my car into 4WH. My car started to fishtail, and I turned and spun off the road, trying not to run into anyone else. Well, I flipped my car, and woke up just minutes after the accident, I didn't remember going off the road at all, and i found myself laying outside my car. (The drivers window had broke) When the ambulance and police arrrived, they examined the car and looked at me in disbelief saying that wreck should have killed me. I know not to this day why my life was spared
about 2 and a half years ago I was in a BAD car accident. It was a multiple roll over and my 2 step kids were in the back seat. All I saw was ground, sky over and over again. I had this vision of me being in a coffin and people crying over my body. It was horruble. At that moment, I snapped back to reality and quickly jerked my wheel to hit a wall. We all suvived and the EMT's and Cops couldnt figure out how we lived through that.
I can't recall anything having to save my life or coming back from the brink of death due to some miracle, but I have had some really freakin close calls.
Guess I don't think anything out there is gonna help me; when it's my time I'll just bite it.
a prexisting condition became aggravated by a nervous break down I had already check myself into a behavior health unit and after three days their i went to get up from a chair and I felt a twitter in my chess ..since i had felt extreme pain n the chest before and have had OBE's as well i slipped out and used the force of going out to slow my short fall..i noticed first the static and faintness of everything around me something i never witnessed in OBE before then I felt no "pull" from my body either the whoosh i felt after the brief panic settled me out so i observed the staff put the smelling salts under my nose and then they prepared the atropine I turned my head (i am hypo shy)this caused me to notice the static curtain behind me ...a part mist part static copper flacked swirl I ventured a little ways in and as I went in there where flashes from behind.I then stopped something pulsed behind me vibbed the atmosphere it was like a tug
before i turned back i witnessed a horizonless plain
a stream running like gasses and light with tendrils adding to it before the stream was a vast expanse deceptive in appearance, across this expanse were wisp of gray and white entities passing overhead were lighter transparent or multi colored entiies they joined the stream.I then dived back( through the wall)to my body they had loaded me onto the ambalance to go next door to the hospital I came to to the puff of air from the bag (a paramedic keep the bag going) when he put the oxygen on me I passed out again The doctor that examined me asked me if I studied martial arts ...I had to ask why he said the damage to the heart that comes from condition i had sometimes causes other complications.I now hold life loosely because if it is taken from me again I will slip away with a relaxed smile on my face so others may know i made it across.I will not weigh my soul down with regrets or woe.
I have a few times... I've almost drown before and also had that eperiance with a few other things. Am glad it was just NEAR death instead of death.
i dont remeber but my family said i died when i was little for about 5 mins
well me & my twin got kicked in my mom while she was preganant & he died from it
Thank you all fro your responces. It was just a question i had been wondering since my accident in 05. People that have never experinced that usually dont understand.
I haven't personally had a near death experience but both my parents had near death experiences. My father had 3 due to 3 serious accidents. Both had given similar descriptions, leaving their bodies seeing everything going on around them and floating away towards a white light. I have found it an interesting subject.
When I was 8 I had encephalitis and almost died. I remember looking down from above and seeing my parents and grandparents watching me and crying as the doctors worked on me. It was oddly comforting to me and I was not scared just concerned for them is all.
I have also had a near death experience and it was scary to see myself watching what was happening from above the scene and wondering if I would come back.
i was at a church outing one day. there was a raft out in the water it was a little far but i thought i could make it. i paniced and tried to swim back thankfully i made it back but i was going under so when i finally got the strenghth to walk to a table i threw up. i couldnt walk much so i had my friends help me walk to the house. drowning is not a fun way to die
I was body boarding once and was taken down with this huge wave. All I remember was going down with the wave and thinking "Oh Crap". When I came to, I was on the shore with my friend yelling my name, trying to wake me up.
When I was five, I got bit from head to toe by mosquitos. I scratched them until they became infected, and turned into thrombophlebitis. I was in the hospital for two months, and in that time my heart stopped twice. All I can remember is kind of floating above myself, and watching the doctors try to get my heart started again. My Mother was there crying, and I vaguely remember thinking, I can not hurt her like this, it isnt my time. I woke up about three days later, with my mother holding my hand.
when i was younger i had an ear infection that was diagnosed wrong 4 times, and i ended up overdosing on tylenol because of the pain, and i was rushed to the hospitol i was almost dead from that, but when they pumped my stomach and checked my ear and did some tests they found out that the infection was starting into my blood stream, and i faught what became a deadly infection for 2 and a half months...
i remember illusions and dreams i had as i passed in and out of conciousness...
all sorts of things
nope not happened to me, my thing is this how would you remember such an event.your brain would be in like a coma state and how many people come out of a coma remembering anything?
Idk what mine have meant; i havnt had any revealed anything at all
oKay first one was and almost jump suicide...
then bad car crash...
then 3 times alcohol poisoning
then i combined alcohol poisoning, and then falling off a bridge..

I tried to committ suicide, was it not for my ex I would be dead right now. I died once and I don't remember a damn thing
Well, how close do you want exactly? Do you mean when the body has actually ceased breathing? or when you were in a dangerous situation (e.g. parachuting and the parachute not opening) that could cause death?
well I have died 3 times once when I had my daughter and was flatline for 17 min. then once I was beat so bad ... well twice actually and both times I was left for dead the last time my daughter saved my life by calling 911 and I woke up 3 days later in ICU. They say I was flatlined for over 20 min. both time.
during that time I swear I seen my Dead brother and he told me I had to go back that it was not my time and I wanted to stay ... it was so peaceful yet of course here i am .. They made me speak to a psych docyor all 3 times and they ask the same question how did you feel ? didi you see anything? do you remember anything ? LOL so I guess everyone wants to know what death is like .
I have. I've nearly fallen out of a high window. However it really hasn't affected me much. Its just made me trust people a bit more. My Aunt caught me and saved my life.
"My life flashed before me eyes. It was very borin'"
Sorry. I've been having a lot of movie quotes pop into my head after reading the thread titles.
Ahh yes and I have and they are many...I only saw things once and that was my most recent one...all I will say is that it was very reavealing to me. I had a lot of questions answered and mnay more pop up. I was left wondering well where do i do from here. I have to figure out what to do now with the time I have remaining and make it worth while to me and those I care about.
i have never experianced a near death experiance. but i would imagine it would feel similar to an astral projection
Here is another article for your reading pleasure...

I had one back in '99 was in a car wreck car came thisclose from flipping over I made a U-turn car went up the wall came down I felt the back end go up then it slammed down....I guess someone up there likes me
I peresonally havent had a near death experience but soemtimes when i meditate i have scenes running in my heasd of an accident and bllod so im not sure if this is a memeories of one of my lives
I personally have had a few, but i really can't remember details like what was going through my head or what exactly i was doing at that moment.
I have had more then a few near death experiences in my Job. Sometimes it is hard to forget what happens during those situations and sometimes we are blessed with forgetting.
i had one but was really weird i fell out of a 60 ft tree but the bad thing bout it there wasnt no angel there was this dark thing waiting for me thankfully i survived the fall
I've had out of body exp.. But nothing relating to near death..
Well Me and my mom were driving home about three years ago from Wal-mart and I guess some guy was parked on the wrong side of the road and pulled out in front of us. I don't remember much of anything but appariantly We slammed into him. His truck wasn't damaged but the whole front/middle of the car was destroyed. I remember getting jerked then everything went black. I woke up a couple hours later in the hospitol. My mom was crying happily and hugging me. I couldn't understand what happend until I went to the bathroom and saw my face and neck. I had gotten thorwn into the side window and it cut into the side of my head (had to get five staples) and cut the side of my neck (about 15 stitches). My mom told me that my heart stopped twice before I was stabalized. It scared me more than anything in the whole world.
So yeah thats my Near Death experience.

It was....kind of scary and weird but exciting....well it was mostly a mixed feeling of everthing ^^

A couple years ago I commited suicide. I swallowed ALOT of pills. My dpwnstairs neighbor heard me fall & he called the EMT's. I was dead when they got there but they brought me back. I spent 3 days in a coma after that. I don't remember being in the coma, of course. My parents told me about that.
When I was a kid I almost drowned in a pool. They had to do CPR and every thing. lol But I have no memory of what happened while I was out. :(
Im like you as I retain no remembrance when I almost died. I use to belong to IANDS (International Association for Near-Death Studies)
I was especially interested in the work done by Dr. Melvin Morse who did many studies with children. What is interesting about childrens is that they are pure and untainted with some of the views of general society that makes one skew what one thinks by environmental biases.
His website is here if you are interested:

I was river rafting and I went to go swim. My dad told me I couldn't go with out wearing my tennis shoes so I did step on anything.
I'm swimming in a shallow part, Then I hit this dep hole and my shoes are waterlogged so they start acting as anchors. My mind started to panic. Kicking and thrashing wasn't helping me. No one would help me. I went under the dark river water.
It's the end I thought. My lungs hurt and my throat burned. Then my mind started to scream at me, "Don't you fucking give up. Get ass to shore. You are not dieing like this." Don't even recall how I did it, but my shoes got kicked off and I got to the top and flaoted on my back to shore.
Best part my sister is a life gaurd and was sitting on the shore the whole time. When I get to shore and I'm sitting there hacking up water and blood, she asks me,"What were you doing thrashing around like that?"

i have had a few....
and all i can say is what didnt kill me can only make me stronger
So many people with close brushes with death.....
but has anyone experienced anything that they remember during that time?
i was ran over by a semi truck when i was four but recovered when they said i may not.
Has anyone in that state of near death or death, experienced visitation from dead friends or family? Float outside their body?
I've never had an OBE..well I think I have but I was sleeping so I don't know if that counts...I'm scared of the house I live in...Some guy shot himself and his wife in my room...I've never had nightmares before I moved into this place...
My heart stopped during an emergency C-section, I have no memory of what happened during, but I asked my husband just prior to losing conciousness, who the man in the corner was, the man smiled, waved, and mouthed "you'll be ok".. but there was no one else in the room that saw him.. hospital staff later told me that there was no that had access to the surgical suite but the surgical team, and they were definitely not standing around in a corner.. whoever it was, he was right.. I recovered and a week later took home a beautiful baby boy..
I almost had my head taken off by a spot welding robot once.
Ouch...and to think I'm going to apply to be a wilder >
i've had plenty.. including a couple where i KNEW i was gonna die, like when i took a bite to the face by a puff adder, bitis arietans... i don't kow why, but in those moments, things become VERY calm.. time almost stops.. and suddenly, the world opens up.. i wish nominate life could be like that easily.. lol
D
I haven't, but reading what some of you have written is shocking. I have always heard that most people don't remember, but for some reason they become more "religious". Go figure. Not something I think I would be interested in for a first hand experience... LOL
Thats awkward...I've never really had a religion...^^ even after that little incidetn I was just happy I lived and went on to my noraml day XP
Well, if you count dieing and still on earth a near-death-experiance, yes.
I am not human.
But i am flesh and blood.

I have almost drowned a few times. Also was about an inch away from being slammed by a semi going 70 miles per hours. i was in tears it scared me so bad.
I have had an ex try to drown me but nothing else that I can think of. Now my husband on the other hand is a different story but I can not tell you what he remember of it or anything like that. Great post sis which I could be of more help.
i was ridein my bike an it had no breaks an i was goin fast an i didnt see a car comein an i put my foot on the bac tire 2 try 2 stop me an i was bout 2 inches away from teh car when i stoped
Once when I was six years old, my family went fishing and I was standing on the dock when I slipped and fell into the lake, I hadn't learned two swim yet and kind of just disappeared under water, it took a while for my uncle to finally find me and get me out of the water but when he did I was unconscious. I don't remember much about what happened becuase I was at a young age, but I am sure my life didn't flash before my eyes or any thing like that.
i overdosed on pills and alcohol a few years ago, went into shock, i quit breathing, but i don't really remember much about it.
Personally, I've never had a really significant near death experience. My grandmother has, though. When she was giving birth to my uncle, her first child, there were complications and she said that she saw herself lying in the hospital bed.
I have never myself had a near death experience but when my stepmother had her car accident she was so close to death. She told us after she got out of coma that she saw her self standing in the corner watching her.
a few years ago i was shot.luckily for me my arm was blocking my chest as it would have went right through my heart.the doctor told me i wask lucky that the bullet twisted around my vast muscle tissue or it would have shattered my bone in my arm and went through to my heart.i remember thinking to myself i'm lucky to be alive while my insides were boiling over with animalistic rage
well when i was about 6 or 7 i almost drowned while swiiming at the beach, all i remember is blacking out and then waking up and having my mom looking over me with a worried expression on her face. i was later told that i was pronounced dead but the paramedics were able to revive me.
past two years ago i was in a bad car accident
my arm was broken and they found me unconsious
and they do not know for how long i was unconsious for
while unconsious I experienced something dark
soul takers were hovering over me and then a white light broke through and i woke when in the ambulance they were asking me my name and how many fingers they were holding my blood pressure was still low and my pulse was weak
they put the oxogin on my face and i was fine and my eyes were clear but blurry to see .
when i got to the hospital they put me in icu and called my family . There in the icu unit my heart rate went up and pulse and blood pressure was like a hand reached down from a light and healed me was weird feeling and scary
I've had too many to actually keep count of but I remember my first one in Iraq...being on duty and hearing a rocket launch...then the whistling sound of it coming down on top of you, so it seemed.
I hit the deck and my life flashed briefly before my eyes. The mortar round landed about 25 yards from where I was working, but didn't blow up.
Then there was the bullet that missed my right ear by inches...and the carbomber that didn't get to us in time...I could keep going but I won't.
iv had one i was 9 years old and went and jumped in my backyard pool with out my mom but ill a rember is the noise of my screming started to slowey fade till i was death and then thing started to get burly and i could not see then i rember opening my eyes and there was a brite white light as i walked to the light it it fade till it was gone then i rember hear some one saying if you can hear me move your hand rhiana if you can hear me move your hand then i opend my eyes and hting started to come in to where i could see and is aw my mom and 3 men i did not know around me talking to me and late that day my mom told me i all most died
misterstikki -
How exactly does that 'life flashing' go?
Hah...it oddly was like seeing bits and pieces of your life literally playing through your head like a slide show...it seemed like it was in slow motion but it was only for a second or two...
I had always heard about this, but never thought much about it until mine played out on March 28th 2006 :P
It didn't do that anymore though.
my life never flashed then hearing went out then i could not see then i saw a light nothing big i guess every one has it happen in a deffrint way
my mum says i died twice.. i was young and really wouldn't know..
she states i died just after birth for 5 mins..
then again when i was 4. i fell out of a fort forgot that story though.. heh
like i said i wouldn't remember i was young...
I did some thing to myself in which Iam nt proud of in 2004 and there was no light at the end of the tunnel but I was brought back to life for a second chance
I had appendicitis few years back... was left for 4 days with no pain killers and by the time I was operated on it had burst and gone grangerous.... be fore I was operated on I had one, the nurse talked to me about it after the op. It was quite a strange thing to go through!
I had one once.
When I was 8, I was swimming and my sister had like climbed on my back or whatever, and we were in the real deep part...well, I couldn't hold her.
I can remember tryin to catch my breath and call for help. And I passed out. And the next thing I knew, (swear to God) I saw this extremely white light..it was soo bright..and then it faded and a whole bunch of people came into view..they were all standing around me. And I was laying by the pool.
I still swim to this day..I even scuba dive. I'm very thankful for those life guards! :D.

in 03 i had blood clots in each of my lungs and passed out all i remember is feeling like i wasn't going to wake up and hearing my little boys voice.. What was wierd about that was he was nowhere around.. I did wake up and thought i was home with him.. It was really wierd.. I am pretty sure he was my only reason for living..
I nearly drowned in my grandparents pool when i was 6. I rememer watching from the bottom of the pool as my uncle dove in to get me , then watchng from above as he pulled me out. I watched him give me cpr. I know I felt very calm and remeber thinking how strange it was to watch myself but how pretty all the colors around me were. I dont know if my heart actually stoped I know I was not breathing. Didn't see any fancy stuff like family, lights, or tunnels. I don't think I was "gone" long enough for that.
When I had my experience I remember my family looking at me with tears in there eyes, my father carrying me to the truck in a frantic run. I had not left my body yet and remember as the pain slowly began to filter through my body, I was cold and yet not, numb, but I could feel. It felt like electricity was shooting down my spine and into every nerve of my body. I remember glancing up into the darkness of the road before us and seeing a dark cave, as the mountain seemed to open before us. And the skyline appeared as if a dull fire blazed across the horizon. I was shaking and shivering so bad, I could hardly talk, but I was able to tell my mother what lied ahead, what I could see and hear the fear in her voice when she turned to my father. I watched as the speedometer climbed well above 100.
I remember being carried into the ER, and being surrounded by doctors, feeling the tube being pushed down my throat, and the light above me. I saw so many faces, looking down, so much panic. It was then that I felt it and heard the echoes that still haunt my dreams, I felt a surge of pain through my body and remember watching as the light dimmed and I knew I was dying. I fought to awake from the darkness, and took one final glance towards the window where my parents watched, the tears running down their faces, before I slipped into darkness once again.
I remember voices but no in a language I understood, and he sounded almost computer generated, but as they came at me like echoes I could not just hear them I felt them surge through me. Then all at once silence, an odd sadness yet peace came over me and I felt I was finally standing still.
Slowly a dull light appeared, and it was as if I was standing in a desert, dead trees in the distance, and around me so many people, all staring at me. In there eyes were so much sadness, so much pain and I too felt overwhelmed by it. It seemed to last forever, they spoke to me, and yet they seemed so familiar. It seemed I had been there forever, when I felt a surge of pain once again, and slowly I opened my eyes. It was light and in the background I could hear the beeping of my heart on a monitor. A nurse was standing next to me, and as I looked up at her I began to cry, I was alive, but I could not move, could not talk, but I was alive. I was later informed I was away for 4 days and at one point they believed I was not going to survive. It changed my life, for the better and when I pass over again I hope to miss the wasteland, and visit the paradise I always hear about.
i had surgery and in the recovery room i stopped breathen twice.. i cant remember much, but i do remember waking up, then i couldnt breathe.. and i went ballistic.. and histarical.. thats all i remember..
I have had four so far.
Falling from a tree and landing on my back in rocks.
My twin dying instead of me from abuse.
Almost flying out of car.
Falling from a shed into a heap of metal and getting cut and puctured.
i had quite a few near death experiences one from drug and alcohol abuse leading into a crash and the rest are suicide related starting when i was 9 and my brother had to kick the gun from my hand quicker than i could realize he was there...
it worked... asshole, r u happy now, you caused me an additional 16 years of suffering, you could have let me do it that would have shown more love than to think it is okay to keep me here for your pleasures and someone to disrespect
in 1998 i was in a car reck and was threw from the car....the car i was in t-bone another car. two people die that night....i remember everthing....
i have had one i almost died of ear infection,, and seen and angel near me i was also pregnant at the time.
yea i reckon ive had a few >.>
although i dont think i could remember anyway cos i was so wasted..
i almost fell off the top of a multistory car-park too.. that was interesting, to say the least.
it gives you a whole new perspective on life :)
I have but its something thats its not easy for me to speak of
well countress sometimes things are hard for us to speak but is not good to keep it in your chest hun
I guess it all depends - if they "die" and no one tells them until AFTER they recall something eventful that happened when they were technically dead, that is more impressive...
I've had a few -- there was never anything there but a calmness -- like it was all going to be okay and just let it happen .
I have had a few near death experiences. Each time was a bit different. I remember my first one was when I was a child, I was in a car accident. It was pretty serious, all I remember is hearing voices around me, they were faint, I also wasn't able to move. Maybe shock caused me to feel numb an my mind honestly couldn't comprehend everything going on at the time. I honestly don't know for sure though. Another time I did infact see a few bits of my past, but I wouldn't say it was my whole life flashing before my eyes.
A couple of years back I was climbing a tree. When I was on my way down a branch broke and I fell, I didn't hit a single branch on my way down, and I landed on back. I had no Idea where i was or what had just happend till I stood up. it felt like I pulled a disc, but I just had a sprain. I fell 16 feet, a fatal fall for one of my age and hieght.
I almost drowned one time in icy waters. Its true what they say, when you see your life flash before your eyes.
I haven't had a near death experience. But I've watched someone once who has.
My mother was in a car crash a few months ago.
She was coming to pick me up from work & was about to pull over when a huge truck smashed into her.
I saw the whole thing in a weird slow motion movie. I fainted for a few seconds then my instincts kicked in & I got her out of the car, as other cars were in danger of crashing into her as well. It was awful.
I have personally flatlined 3 times in my life. the first was when i was five i had a heat stroke and my aunt brought me back. i have no recolection of this only stories. the second time was when i was thirteen, i had cat scratch fevere. i went into sezures in class and my teacher slapped me. all i remember is an deep black abyss. the third was just last year i got into a car accident and again all i could see is the dark abyss. This time i heard a deep booming voice saying it wasn't my time and to hurry and get my ass home....I think it was my desieced uncle telling me to go home
lol I tried to kill myself with an overdose, but instead of dying I landed myself in a coma. Fun.
