For those of us that have reached Acolyte statues, I feel this is fair. There are so many of us, I probbly won't make it, but I'm going to try anyways.

I'm reading through the FAQ as we speak. :) 90% on a test is a big deal.

i agree with it..why be there to help people if you dont know anything about the site or its features?
as cancer stated, some people just use it as a status and dont take it serious..this will sorta weed out the fakers from the helpers.

you want to help people you gotta know the stuff....but can there ever be enough help? people can ask you anyway if you let them...

As long as they don't bite-- I -hate- that bite button at times. Especially when someone hits it twice in a few minutes. Most likely I'm reading something over and it's distracting.

Plus it's a cultural thing.

Just for giggles, read through the new VR Manual. There's actually some stuff I didn't even know, and I've been here for how long? *laughs* It's a good read.

Personaly, I think this is a wonderful thing. And I know that it will weed out the ones that should have the Acolyte status.

How does one take the test? I've been thinking about it since I made Shaitan.

I have been reading over the VR manual. I am going to try my best on this test. I know that I have helped several people already & they personally sent me a thank you. Was even called a genius once... hehehe.

I think the test is fair but, what is pretty crappy is the fact that there are people that just want the status by thier name. This ruins it for the people that actually want to help people. I like being an acoylte I like helping people.

Indeed, there will always be people that only want the "status" thing so they can look more "important".
In my opinion, if you want it, you got to earn it, and use it wisely.
I personally don't intend to try to become an Acolyte when i reach the requested level, i think there are already enough of them out there.

I think the test is a good idea. I personally am looking forward to the challange. After reading the new manual the only things I really didn't know anything about was the advertising, linking and banners. I don't use them so I never read up on them, but now I consider myself edumacated. LOL

Same here. I'm going to probably try and reread it in the next few days, just to make sure i'm well commited to it.

I understand one hundred percent from any angel... except I thought I was doing a good job ...

I always answer questions as seriously and nicely and full of as much knowledge as I can... :-(

He hasn't really gone into too much explaination to be honest. We'll see if he goes into more detail once he's done with the tests for us. He said they were rather random, so we just have to wait.

well there is a reason I never wanted to be an acolyte.....hell I get newbs asking me if i'm an admin as it is just because I have been here for fucking ever..hehe

i too is going to try for the test, but always been horrorable at tests. was printing out the vr manual intill my printer gave up....lol out of ink....lol

I think that testing someone is a good idea because you have to know your stuff if your going to help someone. Good luck to everyone that is trying to become an acolyte.

Does one actually have to be an acolyte to help another? I am here only to help educate, and learn from those that have knowledge. I learn from my husband every time I talk to him or read his posts.

I think the testing is a good idea. It should have been like that to begin with. I have wondered this site and I know just about where everything is. But I have been here a long time. I am going to take the test and hopefully pass it.

I became an Acolyte because~ I was and am so into this site, I wanted to be as big a part of it as I could. I am dedicated if you will- to a place where I spend so much time and effort. It is definitely not a status thing, I could be easily put into my place by anyone who views how long I have been a part of VR on my profile.

I have not been here for long at all, but in the short time I have read a lot and got myself familiar enough with the FAQs and everything, that I felt by the time I had reached the appropriate level I could be useful. I had helped everyone that asked me questions up to then also. I want to be useful, and I am online enough~ spend actual hours here each day as I am connected as well doing online college work.

I have answered a few questions as an Acolyte, all the other times I have tried to answer questions- they were answered by the time I had clicked the Acolyte Questions link.

But anyhow- I hate tests more than anything~ but I assume the questions would be those of which we would get from any member needing help, same thing we do each time we click the Acolyte button right? So it should be no big deal for anyone who applied to be an Acolyte because they felt they could be an asset from what they had come to learn at that point.

I got to say I agree with Cancer's idea of testing all the Acolytes.It will weed out the non helpful/non-knowledgable ones from the ones who are good at what they do.I also like what Emaerald said and totally agree with her to! Good luck to all the acolytes taking the test .I still have acolyte status so I have no problems taking the test to.Everyone should take the time to read the VR Manual.Cancer is taking the time to write it up for our benefit,least we can do is read and absorb it .Acolyte or member etc. :)

WoW! Finally a little test that'll prove the person's REALLY worthy becoming an Acolyte...

90% is the testing, I wonder where the 10% will go? (LOL!)

I was trying to help someone (vampirekiss?) with their photos shortly after reading about the 'clear all' button. Never got a response after mentioning it, I was so tired I figured they'd signed off for the night. *shrugs* Oh well.

I'm guessing about a week or so before everyone is tested.

I think it is a great idea. You have to test for any other teaching job in the world. Why not this status? Godd luck and may those that deserve it pass.

I look forward to seeing the testing put in place. I think this will eliminate much misinformation and 'status-seekers'. If you want that little red label, then know the stuff and earn it.
I highly recommend reading the VR Manual. Information contained within the manual will expand your knowledge of all that is available to you and all that you shouldn't do. Ignorance is no longer a valid excuse. Not that it ever really was..

yes... i`ve just saw the new manual in teh "news" :) ... i`ve scrolled it a lill ... it basicly holds all u need to know about teh site. it was a good ideea.

Most of the stuff is just taken from other spots on the site....

As an Acolyte at the level of Iconoclast (26) you should know it that well. The trouble is, we have some Acolytes that don't.

I'm not on often enough to see the acolyte questions directly but I have helped out a bunch of people who just message me or leave a comment. It's usually more HTML related. I get the occasional "how do I do....." in relation to the site.

I signed up to be an acolyte because I like to help people out. I've been reading and re-reading everything I didn't know about VR and studying my ass off. I want to continue to be an acolyte.

A good portion of the test will cover the Terms of Service and DMCA policy. You can find links to both at the base of any Vampire Rave page.

I should have the test finished before the end of the week.

As boring as it is to read it all, I assure you, it was twice as boring authoring it all.

On the plus side, as future Acolyte questions come in, if the answers to them are not already in the manual, I can add them in.. So the manual will grow with time.

I think having acolytes is a great idea, and more profile/community sites should have them. On most other sites, if you ask for help with anything you get patronised and called 'noob'. Here, you know there are people who genuinely want to help others enjoy the site as much as they do. Well done to all of you, and good luck with the testing x

Ok i no where near the levelto even think about the test for my self. I wish good luck to those who are taking the test. I think Acolytes a very helpful to the site though i have not used it yet. Its good to know its there incase we need help. Best wishes

I do agree on this test, even though I am personally terrified of tests.. I hope that I have been doing my job well so far.. and out of what I've read so far, it is probably going to be a tough test, but Im trying out my best to study the new sections well, and reread the old ones

I agree to the test. Even though I am not an Acolyte but hope to be able to become one. This test from what I heard could help filter out the bad Acolytes that might not be too helpful with the n00bz.

Good idea. I don't see being an Acolyte as a status. I like to help, because it's one of the ways to contribute to help this site work better, but I can always improve myself, and the manual seems like a way to even put myself to the test.
There have been some technical questions, spacially about some advanced HTML that I was not able to answer, but I know I'm good with the simple things.
This test will tell me for sure, if I'm right for the job I applyed for in this web site, becides liking to help.

I think some of us have a look or 'feel' that keeps us from being as helpful as we'd like to be. Thoughts?

I usually have 5 or so messages a day asking for assistance.

See, I never get that.

I get bites from people who think I have a nice ass or 'ur hot'.

I don't real questions.

I think that when people really want help, they don't go for the way you look.
When they want to make assinine comments (maybe they think they're being nice, but hey, who am I to judge...) then you have the bites and the "How do I change my text style? Nice ass, btw" .....*sigh*
I don't have questions everyday, maybe because I spend less time on the Rave now.

I rarely have Qs, period.

well, like all in life, moderation is the key. But I can't help thanking all the people that helped me in return, and it wasen't about being Acolytes or not. Just people that are good at helping.
In the end, that's what counts, and has better results.

Narakyndryn i have to agree with you. I think it just depends on the impression you put off. If you or your profile seem like you are going to bite for someone asking a dumb question they will advoid you. And most people feel their question are dumb Though again its great to know you bums nice. Just my thoughts. Good luck to all taking the test.

As soon as I can put up some updated pictures, it'll much better, 'easier' to talk to me, I suppose.
