Years ago, Anne Rice told the world she was hanging up the vampires for good. At the time she was focused on writing Christian historical fiction. In 2010, she delved back into the supernatural world with wolves- and now (after an 11 year hiatus), the news of bringing back Lestat. Check out the linked article, and please share your views on this news :)
Anne Rice announces Lestat is back in new novel, "Prince Lestat"
I am so excited about this and even more so because it's being published on my birthday :)
If everyone likes your Blue Ribbon Pie, I behooves one to make some more Blue Ribbon Pie! Especially if one has a need for Duckets!
I love Ann rice books definitely excited about this!!!!
I'm excited about this. I'm also glad this will show where everyone is and how they're doing. I miss Marius and Pandora.
I liked how dabbler put it. Her vampire books are her Blue Ribbon pies. It is what her fans want. I never understand when a writer puts it out there, gets a fan base, then heads off towards another area like that Harry Potter writer. I am glad Anne Rice is out to please her fans again.
There has been some accusations that J.K. R. Plagiarized the character. I never followed the case, but it has been mentioned.
Scrape that post, all cases out standing have been settled, and favor was found on J.K.s camp.
thats awsome, hope she brings back also armand I mean lestat and armand have an unfinished business to deal with, I had a vew of her books and I really enjoy her writing, she has a way to put it not to gore yet still interesting and not to romantic or sexual but still erotic and not vulgar.
This is great News.I always found the character of Lestat to be a very interesting one.
While I've read one of Rice's historical religious fiction novels - "Christ the Lord" and thought it was good, I'm pleased that She IS returning to her vampire-based writings. Lestat has got to be one of the best rogues ever!
I read this on Facebook. Thank the deities Tom cruise will Not be involved in this. he's a weirdo.
While I do agree with Lordess, I'm also excited. I enjoyed the mystery surrounding Lestat but I am also not unwilling to have him brought back.
“Prince Lestat” will be available for pre-order beginning March 17, 2014 at all major online retailers.

Sadly there is no bringing back my favorite character, Claudia.
and... Jk Rowling is talking at looking at Harry Potter's world again... it's called an auhor making money.
Still... Brushing everything aside as "making money" is just so... Direct. If we would just analyse this on a deeper level, perhaps some light will be cast on the truth. It's just pleasing the masses nowadays. I hope there's a group who is taking this news as a direct impact on the vampire community.

I don't think this is about making money any more than the usual, I mean, she's not starving for cash- she's already earning with her wolf series and other things. She took a very long break from vampires- all the while still pumping out several best sellers. I think it's just "time" for her. She found that specific muse again.
I disliked her announcement to end the vampires, but everyone has their own stopping points. However, once she jumped into the wolves,I knew it would only be a matter of time before she came back to the ones that started it all for her.
I am happy about this and I can't wait to see what she creates next.
I'm glad she waited awhile, so this "Prince" side will be fresh and new for us. Bring it on Anne Rice we are ready.
I am happy for her fans. But, I will more than likely not be reading this as I have always found Louis to be the far more interesting character.
I love Anne Rice. I am super stoked about her return with "Prince Lestat". The wait is far too long in my opinion.
March 17...
aka: St Patty's Day
aka: my son's 6th birthday.
And Anne Rice is bringing Lestat back...
A day to remember, indeed ;)
I haven't been on the net that much recently but I remember her mentioning it. She got very fundamentalist for awhile but then she was very indifferent to organized religion, almost disappointed in those that represent it in modern times. She mentioned she was writing something but has been mostly pushing her son's new book. I like her books and read the second one when it first came out not knowing at the time it wasn't a standalone. I had a hard time at first getting into it. She is a very educated writer and she can sometimes be too narrative as in Queen of the Damned, but since I'm that way essentially when I write, it was my favorite of all the books. I have many of her books and haven't read most of them. She has always said Lestat is an extension of herself. If she was a vampire she would be like Lestat. I may or may not read it because I've moved on past stories portraying stereotypical vampires. I'm on Like for Anne Rice so I see what she posts. She's a very nice lady and does seem to listen to her fans. I think her fans influenced this decision to start writing about vampires again and this one in particular. When you are immersed in a continuing storyline one gets overwhelmed after awhile and needs a break.
I am really interested to see where Lestat goes now that she has changed so much. One thing I've noticed is that as a writer changes and is exposed to life, it tends to change their writing a lot.
I can't wait to see what happened to Lestat in the years that Anne Rice has grown and changed.
Oh I'm excited.
Oh my goodness! I can't wait! Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles were the first vampire novels I had ever read and what got me into vampires.
I guess it's good to go back to what works. I only read Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned but they were excellent books. I just hope she doesn't make him a born again Christian. Just assuming the possibility due to her Christians novels as of late. Not that there's anything wrong with being Christian. I respect all beliefs. It just doesn't fit for Lestat.
This is great! Anne Rice is the Queen of Vampire books. I am looking forward to buying it.
Meh, over-rated and irrelevant for me at least, Bring back the Witches. ;)
I also think that Louis is a more interesting character...
Lestat, though a reckless predator, appeals to the younger age. He comes across as both endearing and fearful. Perhaps, that's why, the title, Prince Lestat.
Oh joy she now has returned to my favorite book series. I can't wait to get my copy soon.
im very excited about this. Not only is she one of my favorite author but Lestat is one of my all time fav characters. He's delightfully psychotic and i cant wait to read more about him
I have never actually read the Lestat Vampire Books.. I have a couple, but never got around to actually reading them. I do, however, have ALL of the movies and love them very much.. So I can't wait to see what the film industry will make of this ;)
Anne doesn't say she isn't Christian but she's worked through that stage and often criticizes certain actions made by these people if warranted of course. Not the religion itself. I think she's evolved over time. It was a journey she needed to take. When you become involved with characters, creating them, they essentially are an extension of yourself in many ways. Certain ones in particular. She has always stated if she was a vampire, she would be Lestat. I think she identifies closely with this character she created and quite frankly, at least for me anyway, you begin to miss them. Besides vampire novels are selling really well right now. I prefer the witch books too but for some reason, she doesn't. I have seen many ask about them even to the point of wanting a film. I guess the film makers aren't interested in those stories. I don't consider her the best writer of vampire stories because I've been reading them before I ever heard of her. Hers are good but so are a lot of others. There have always been so many that some of them were never recognized. One series in particular but I can't remember the name of it anymore.
When I read the news, I practically hugged my computer, especially since the book will be focusing on lovely Lestat. I cannot wait to get back to reading his usual shenanigans and see what he's up to.
that was my favorite series she had done so i am quite excited about that . cant waite for it .
This is such exciting news!!! I can't believe I haven't heard anything about the return of Lestat until now.
I must admit, I thought of "Interview with the Vampire" while I was in Paris back in May for my honeymoon. I hope that that one of these years I'll be able to go to New Orleans for the ball!
I will either be purchasing it online or annoying my library to order it ASAP. Hopefully they won't already have it in there and I will probably break the noise level by screaming in excitement and hugging the book towards my chest.
While Lestat is her star, and a Phenomenal character, I would love to see more of David, Marius, and various others from the series that are never really concentrated on.
I can't wait to read it, Lestat will always be one of my favorite vampires
TheReincarnatedDarkLord, maybe this new book will be a way for our fans to encourage to write more about our other favorite characters and continue with the Vampire Chronicles?
Lestat is my favourite character and I'm really pleased that Anne Rice is bringing this new book out. I hope that Lestat is all he ever was and will be.
I am just glad she brought that character back and decided to return to that
particular genre once again.
this is wonderful yay. my favorite one of her books will always be The Vampire Lestat.
i love anne rice all her books she is the best thing since bram stoker brought us a new look on the fantasy vampire. i am so excited she has continued with this series
More great news Universal studios has bought all rights to the vampire chronicles and will make them a franchise movie and yes they are redoing interview with a vampire and even more good news Tom Cruise will not be playing the leading role.
I'm not surprised that she's bringing Lestat back.
I'm more surprised that it took this long to do so
I know!!!! I'm subscribed to her editor! Im so happy that she's coming back! I was talking to a friend about how she swore off vampire novels. I was upset over it :/
She weaves a great tale. I can't wait to sink my teeth into this one!!!

Too lazy to read back through the thread to see if I mentioned this- but back when this was announced- I ordered a signed copy. It sold for the same price as the book without. Limited release to Barnes and Noble. I'll be getting it this week :D
I am thrilled that she has returned to the vampire series. I hated when I got to the last one. I am very much looking forward to seeing what she has in store.
I've got my copy :) I started reading it last night but I'm taking my time so I don't reach the end of the book too soon lol
I love Anne Rice books. I saw the book at Barnes and Noble. will be getting it on payday. and will let eveyone know if it is a good read or not
I have read all of her vampire chronicles.
I am looking forward to this one as well. :)
I saw this book in Target yesterday but I put it back nit that I did or didn't have the money to buy it. I started to think why just get it on iBooks.
So for about two weeks I have had this checked out for the library. First things first, I think the librarians are wary of me given that I nearly knocked over an old lady to grab this copy when I saw it. Second, I am madly in love with the book!! Her writing is as fresh as it has ever been and it's a great read. I definitely will be buying my own copy once I have money to spare and hopefully a little bit more shelf space. The place I'm holding my books are pretty much almost full and I'm always looking to add more.
speaking of that book i just finished reading a good portion of it and i plan on continuing to read it once i get the rest of the vampire Chronicles.
Loved the book. It's a great edition to the series, though I'm a bit sad she didn't include Tarquin and Mona Mayfair anywhere.
I hope she'll release more for the series.
ive not read the original books i know of them, i know the movies and that the second was kinda a mix of a couple books...my thoughts are Anne Rice was kinda this iconic gothic writer, whose vampire books had to be making her a crazy amount of money. Then later you switch to somekind of christian writer..i would kinda think that turn of events would kinda alienate your main fan base and now after years of less money lets get back where you started and back to what your fans want. I think its a good thing she is doing this for vampire culture and for her bank account..we need to get back to vampires who kill to survive and as far away as we can from the ones that sparkle in the sunlight ..lol
As I said on Grim...I am very thrilled that she is going back. When you read series that involve multiple, long and drawn out histories of characters, you sort of become invested in them and want to see them continue.
I'm excited about her return to the vampires, and I'm equally excited to see 'how' she picks up all of the characters where she left off.
This is awesome news! My dad's ex-girlfriend didn't want some of her books, and The Vampire Chronicles first four books were in the pile. I've already finished the first book and am in the middle of the second one.
Just finished reading her Werewolf books really I enjoyed them
Anne really knows how to keep your attention, even through the several histories she adds to recap everything that has happened in the Chronicles since it has been some time. Great job!
