Do dreams really have any kind of meaning behind them?
I've been having similar dreams over and over. Normally when I have a strange/weird dream I just let it go and move on. But lately it is the same thing over and over. I dream about the same area of my town (which isn't even close to where I live), a sexy vampire (or more), running from something but not sure what it is, and the vampire either turning me/protecting me/harming me.
I know people could analyze this and come up with a million different thoughts on it so lets hear it all. I'm starting to become obsessed by these dreams.
Some fear/hope of yours may be manifesting itself as a vampire in your dream, and your subconscious is choosing a fiamiliar location for it to take place, perhaps. I'm no dream expert...
running is the fear interpretation
you can stop running the world is round
I suggest you face your fear.
I think one has reoccurring dreams, because there is a message in there trying to get through.
I feel our dreams are for a reason either to remind us of past lives or to warn us of impending situations, even to guide us through this life. Yet dreams are real and we have them for many reasons.
You dream about the things you experience on a daily basis. You say that lately you have been having dreams about vampires, but lately you have also been on a site called "Vampire Rave." That is probably your connection right there.
OK my thought on dreams have always been there is a message that is trying to get out. Your mind is trying to work threw something. Yes I have always enjoyed Freud's dream interpretations but take with it what you will. Some of his things are a little out there such as if you dream about a gun it is actually your fear of the male penis etc. I would go online and check out some things that best fits yourself.
My dreams mostly consist of complete darkness, either that or i just dont remember them. I havent remembered a dream in forever so i wouldnt really know anything about this subject.
Trust yourself. Try not to be overly critical if you don't always get it right.
I think it's wonderful that you dream this. This may be a past life especially if it's repetitious. Or even a longing to be in that perticular life span. Perhaps hypnosis would release that meaning.
Sometimes Freud has a great insight and worth checking out. That dream is easily intrepreted in many ways and variations. Very good ones already mentioned to you in this thread.
Think about what has been going on in your life now, in the past, and what plans you have that you know of for the future -perhaps that can assist you.
I have a dream on my profile.... the same dream that I have had for many many years. I can smell, and feel texture in it, it is that real to me...it never varies.
Darkest is on the right track. Dreams are usually about what is going on in your life. They are the mind's way of coping with stress, with repressed hopes, desires, and even memories. I would think only you can interpret the dream. What do YOU think it means??? (based on the suggestions of DD to look at what is going on in your life.)
I believe that dreams are a way for us to live out something we either desire or fear. Or it is a way our subconscious tells us about things that may or may not happen depending on what we choose to do in any given day.
Oh I hate recurring dreams! For me I have thought of them as sometimes your desires, needs, etc. but sometimes I think they are warning of future events. Maybe you will meet a man soon, with great attraction between you, but things are just some how not right, so the running. I don't like to believe in past lives..so I ususally try to stick with it being now or future events.
Like my dream... even though it has a feel of olden times, I feel this is something yet to come.... that I will see the face when it is time for me to do so.
But you should really look into what is happening and has happened and what's being planned to see if these dreams tie in some how. Subconscious has a strange way of working it out with the conscious.
I have dreams like that occasionally. They are continuation dreams, like I dream the whole thing in parts. It's very weird. It may be that you desiresomething, or you are scared of something
Dreams sometimes may act as the third eye fortelling what future may hold. but hey im no expert on dreaming.
they always say dreams have a meaning it might just be subconsious of what your hopeing for or it could have a true meaning........ everydream has a diffrent meaning...... the only on who can truley understand your dreams is you..... evaluate them .... check into the many dream books and meanings that are avalible on the market.....
i have many dream books, and almost everynight i have very vivid dreams due to a sleep aid i take, most of the time i awake remembering it and wonder if its real or not, and i have have vampires also in my dreams. and then i look it up in my dream books and what ever the book says the real meaning of the dream is it never seems to actually relate,, so i think thoses books are bullshit
all dreams have a meaning just takes time to come through... face it in your dreams.. you can control the dream world
dravenlore:
I have yet to figure out how to do that. I know people who can control their dreams. I don't know how they do it though
dreams reccur until you solve the problem in them.
Freud was a fraud, everyone's symbolism for the objects and people's in their dreams are different. Only you know what a color means to you, what a shape means to you, or waht a character in a dream means to you. If you can't figure that out, then you wll have the same dream over and over agian because you don't know who you are, what you value in life, or the obstacle presented in that recurring dream.
Dreams are the way we solc=ve the things in our subconcious, in that Freud was right. But you must actually take control of your dreams. If there are any books on how to be the protagonist in your own dream and change the flow or course of a dream then I suggest getting that book, or I will tell you how I take control of my dreams. We are the main character in them don't forget, and you do not die when you die in a dream that was a lie. I died once and I didn't lose any life.
As long as you understand that you cannot die in a dream and you have a pocket full of quarters do the various different acts in the recurring dream to bring out the solution.
I have personally found that if a dream happens over and over again that it has a message in it. What that message may be I don't know because only you may trully interperet your dream.
dreams are created in the brain by the right side trying to answer the questions that have been plaquing you for awhile. mostly dreams are to help answer the questions that have been bothering you right before you have gone to bed.
but i belive that dreams can also help you better yourself and tell you thins about yourself and the world
hmm maybe you have something going on in your life that you cant exscape from and u are looking for protection from this harmful thing...the fact that you dont see anyone in your dream that the person is running from may mean the thing you want to get away from isnt a person or phyical object maybe it's a feeling or emotion. That would make sense since you cant run from what you feel...
I believe like Satinmist and others here that reoccurring dreams often carry messages. These my be found in subtile things and tend to reveal themselves in events or people you may least expect.
I would like to pass some useful information as one who has studied the Golden Dawn, Modern Magick, and the Mystical Qaballah, it is always a good idea to keep a dream diary. Sometimes your inner guide gives you insight through your dreams, special meanings, answers to questions you've been seeking, and yes even premonitions, hence the "deja vu" experiences some people tend to get...I just have a notebook that I keep by my bed and when I wake up I write down what I dreamt if I remember that is...it's actually not a bad thing to do...just thought I'd share..
I think dreams have messages, either past or present. I am quick lucky in that I have dreams of past lives, and most are good ones. The ones that are bad, just make me try harder in this life to do better.
Most people just don't have the time nor pay attention to their dreams. But if one is attuned to that and one can be aware as sleep comes. Then it becomes easier to astral travel during this time as well. And eventually it becomes easier to remember dreams and mabye that will be helpful in the future.
what i did was i read a book that can explain to you what your dream means
it explained it was your subconscience mind though
My dream interpretation books says that
"Dreams of parasitic ghosts or vampires are often about self-protection. If you dream of these creatures you should look at those aspects of your own life where you feel you are being devoured or having the life sucked out of you. Perhaps you are feeling either used or dominated by your partner, or you have an exploitative boss who makes you work long hours so that you don't have the life or energy to do the things you enjoy. More unusually you may be ACTING parasitically and have some kind of disturbance around this. These dreams are our unconscious mind's way of working out such relationships, as well as making us aware that something is wrong."
I think i believe the first explanation.... whenever i would argue with my parents i would dream about vampires....I think my parents were sucking away my energy. I have a lot of dreams about them too.
You can always write them down once you awaken & go to dreammoods.com or even get a book to look at what your dream(s) might mean. They may not even mean anything at all or they could be very significant in your life somehow...
A dream journal is an excellent idea and tool. Just keep it and a pen next to the bed. Immediately write down all you can remember, even if just a couple of words, something to help trigger memory later on. After a certain time, go read and see if there is a certain pattern to them.
Like I mentioned earlier, also make note of what is happening in your life right now and with family and friends around you; what has just happened that had significance; and if there are certain plans coming up ahead - such as a huge exam, paper due, the holidays, someone is ill, a trip, a move... etc.
Perhaps a darker lust something you havent been able to act on. ive had dreams tons of them.
Perhaps its a past life, a glimps of the future,
Or just your desire.
It would be a million things my personal beleif is that your being told something you should pay attenton to the finer details try and pinpoint exactly what time it is what place and what your whereing.
raziel
most of the books i have on dreams and meanings are going by ancient belifes like egyptians for instance thought that when you dreamed of your teeth falling out it ment you were gonna die by the hand of one of your children........no book on dreams can tell you what they actually mean.... if you keep a journal of the dreams you rember you can evaluate them ...... sometimes when you can come back to them and read about them again you might figure out what they were trying to tell you........ sometimes its your subconsious trying to tell you something outher times it just may very well be a dream...........
Every dream one has has to do with something they have thought or somethign that has happened in the passed or what you fear. Every dream has a meaning or is trying to tell you something. Fear=running so face your fear and see what happens. you may jus tbe afraid of something. or it may mean something totally different. buit all dreams have meaning or is trying to tell you something that you can find out for yourself.
-Jenn
The mind is a complex machine, who can even fathom our true potential? Surely I can not.
I think all dreams have a meaning to an extent. What that meaning is, however is a completely different story.Every dream comes with a billion and 1 interpretations.Just as a picture says a thousand words. The idea's of a single dream are boundless.
journal near bed don't work
tape recorder, just press record in the dark
lights and gathering pens make dreamstate disappear.
don't let anyone tell you what your dreams mean. You have to figure it out. No two people think a like, for me to dance is like a Ferrari, when you see a Ferrari you think something different. Unless your twin joined at the brain sister is a psychic dream interpreter, don't listen to anyone.
As Socrates said: KNOW THYSELF
i think that one kind of dream you all have down thats the dream when all your doing is talking over events with onesself and trying to figure out this life and the diffrent things we go through on a day to day life.
The other kind of dream we have while our bodies are a sleep and some can do it while awake is speak to the ones that have past before us when these dreams come they are not only dreams they are real and you can learn so much by taking control of this real and ask all the questions you wish to know the answers to. These are the ones that show you future events and also learn of the afterlife or any other questions you wish answered they are very powerful when you learn the dffrence between the two and can act on them.
I believe that dreams are our subconcious trying to tell us something. Some times it is a warning of things to come and somtimes it is a way to tell us that certain things in our lives are weighing us down. Dreams are a way for our subconcious trying to comunicate with our concious thoughts
Dreams normally have some sort of meaning its just picking out the stupid shit in it and the meaning
i'm new here, i'm pretty good at interpreting dreams, what your dream sounds like is that there is a place that you are going to visit with a future spouse/significant other/or friend and something is going to happen while you are there. it could be good or bad.
The area of your town represents a new area of your life that you've just entered. Familiar yet uncharted. The indecision of the motives of the Vampire represents your indecision on whom to trust in this new area.
I agree very much with the journal suggestion. I generally do not have a recurring. (medication probably helps that lol)
What I have realized when deciphering dreams is that the more you thing and concentrate on them, the more you tend to miss and forget. The first thing that comes to mind when analyising the different parts of your dream is sometimes the correct answer that has been fueled by your subconsious, which is what knows the true meaning of your dream.
i tend to think that they either stem from your previous days activities or sub-concious desires.
Aye Dreams can have a meaning, its how you read it that counts
Their is a book called Pure Love, forgive me i can't remember the author but it will be of great assistance to you if you can find it, I might try amazon.com?
i agree with previous posts on a message behind the dreams....you need to go further in your recollections of them and think about a deeper meaning. its possible also that vampires have nothing to do it, it's just your subconscious putting the message in a form that appeals to you
Dreams have many powerful uses.. other than leting your mind wander so you do not go insane.
Spirits can contact you eaiser in them. you can learn to travel of sorts during them.. messages can be delivered.
if your haveing a dream that is like others over and over .. try to keep a journal next to your bed and write down what happend as soon as you wake.. and not just that.. but your thoughts as you woke up.
It may take practice but in time you will be able to remember these things clearly and that may help you figutre out why your haveing them
the reocurance of your dreams maybe just a coinsidence of sorts. as i also have shared similar dreams with practically the same scenes. what i also find strange is that i have shared a dream with someone else wich was exactley the same.
sometimes i dream about something or someone and the dream comes to reality. at first it scared me, then i realized that dreams are reality.
I think you need to figure out what dreams are the ones to pay attention to and the ones that are just there to take up space like most of mine do
Dreams Are Just Things That Can Be Good Or Can Be Bad Pending On What They Intell As Far As To The Future Or The Past As Far As Vampires Go It Can Be Good Things Pending On How Your Feeling Or If You Are Just Having A Wierd Dream About Things That Seem So Real But Not
Well personally I think there is a message trying to come to you thru these dreams...seek and you shall find...
I believe that ther is some message in the dreams we have involving vampires, but sometimes we look too far into the dream and lose the true meanings beind them.
I will agree with La6Muerte66. It was the only thing I could assume too...
as far as dream retrieval goes in that 2 minute window of opportunity to retrieve a dream after you wake, you have to collect one idea from the dream, and then one idea leads to the next and you can merge the conscious with the subconscious. Then you can go back in your head have the dream mapped out and when you don't plan you plan to fail.
The combatants in our dreams are our demons, we need to plan to defeat them.
I also have some unexplaqined recurring dreams, but not like yours. Do you know this vampire? If you do, then it could be that you feel like a part of your life is leading you to a point you've never been to before, and this person would either help you through it or pull you deeper into it. At least, that is what it sounds like to me. Because first you are running, which would stand for fear, so your fear brings you to a point where you will encounter a problem that could branch off either for the better or for the worse. Did the dream ever have an ending?
not to be overtly sexual but isn't the presence of vampires in dreams wouldn't that be like a succubus or an incubus?
Is the vampire trying to get with you, or it just wants to have your blood?
usually mine have a messege behind them. maybe they are hapening over and over becouse something was uncompleted.
All dreams are symbolic in their own way. What these dreams mean? Well it is up for you to decide on and how you precieve it.
All dreams are symbolic in their own way. What these dreams mean? Well it is up for you to decide on and how you precieve it. I must agree with this!!
From experience, I feel that some dreams are to prepare us for a life altering experience that we are about to journey. But I am no dream expert.......
the question i have is is it you running and if so can you see yourself? ifyou can then it would be someone you know or may know in the future. but if not then it is more than likely you. please message me if you wish to talk more about it.
Well if you have the same or some what alike dreams then its more like its something in side that is trying to tell you something or show you something. You can take this in any way, shape or form you like.
I agree with VAMPARIAH in his point "know thyself"
You can seek aid to help you interpret your dreams in many different ways, but only you know what its true meaning is.
i have no idea on if the have meanings.
none of my dreams are reoccuring,
when i do have some there really wierd. Its like i'm narrating a story; sometimes i base my poetry of my dreams. The storyies are always so detailed that when i wake up i forget where i am
I believe that all dreams have meanigs but i also believe u can have control over them.
All dreams do have meaning..maybe problems you might have in the back of your mind..
I think that sometimes your dreams are your subconscience trying to tell you something. And, other times, dreams are just dreams.
I checked out dream moods .com and found it to be very interesting. I recommend people checking it out for themselves.
One must remember though that what something means to one person can mean something completely different to another. So as much as we wish to have others interpret our dreams for us, it is we that have to do the interpretingg..sites like the one mentioned is good to give hints or even different views that u may n ot have thought of before. So talking and reading about dreams is a good thing..Just remember others answers to something may be the stepping stone for u to figure it out yourself
nobody keeps journals that is why we are all idiots and never learn from others or ourselves, we don't make sense of the echoes in our own minds, we get stuck where we are, just smoke the CHEEBA ignore our selves and never become the BUDDHA.
making sense out of life and reacting to the stress against our lifeforce makes us aware of us, the world, and the game against our particular soul type.
If we do not analyze we cannot synthesize new ways, we do not learn, we never awaken from the dream, and having no awakening, no enlightenment either. In theory Buddha teaches we could all be Buddhas, we could all be Messiahs too, we could all be so much more, but we do not listen to us, and so we never change, we stay the same, we sleep, and ignore our dreams.
Fortunate Fool it was Socrates whom said Know thyself, not me.
oh i understand it wasnt you directly who said it VAMPARIAH... i just got lazy and didnt scroll up to see who quoted it... my apologies...
i belive anything can happen justhave to belive it if u want or not
my other half has had the same sort of dream from time to time exsept it was set in a grave yard from her home town and it was always me turning her to protect her so i think it may be a posotive thing that your dreaming about your own turning
There has been many, many books written on the meaning of dreams.
Personally, I think that dreams have meaning whether to serve as a guide or warning to real events that are taking place in your life.
Have you ever noticed how sometimes you concentrate on a problem, but cannot solve it. Yet, "but you sleep on it" and the solution comes to you.
I would say that dreams of this nature happen to everyone vampire or not. I would also suggest that the more you accept and believe the more frequently you can tap into this resource
there are also several books out there to offer the kind of help you are looking for.
The problem is with dreams is that they are either a way of dealing with things in the future or things your mind is trying to deal with right now - if these dreams are a symbol of anything in your life, maybe you can think of something that has been a problem over the same period that you have been having the dreams?
All of my dreams are about my past, its when I had the most problems and i figure its my brain trying to sort things out
It has been my personal expierence in the past that when you have recurring dreams whether they are good or bad, that there is an important message lying underneath it all that you need to take heed to.
It has also been doccumented in several textbooks and many pshycologist heavily rely on dreams to figure out the meanings to different issues.
Good answer Lord Fangor. short, sweet, to the point. agree with ya
i have a lot of dreams like i was attacked by a wolf befor and then i woke up
I don't ever remember my dreams. friends think i am a bit strange for that but it's true. Occasionally i will think when i wake up i must try and remember that but when i try and think about what it is that i am meant to be remembering i can't place it.
Is there something wrong do you think?
To response from above. Maybe should need to focus more on your dreams and try to remember every detail. Maybe you just don't dream.
Perhaps its not just a dream but the fact you are remebering something from your past or a past life, and your running from it.
im not sure
i think that dreems can have meenings,
but also dreems can have something to do with what you think about alot or what your mind is trying to tell u
lol
i probably dont make much sence
dont fear your dreams. if they do happen. at least you know how it will end
Most of our dreams are ususally stress related or subconscious desires, wants, needs, etc.I do believe however that some have meanings or some are windows to past lives.
I find it helpful to keep a book at my bedside and write down immediately upon waking and then go over the notes later.Sometimes they have a deeper meaning, but often times it is not immediately known.
I have to agree with Morrigan...waaaay up there in the postings.
Don't fear your sexuality. Just a few weeks ago I dreamed that I woke up in bed next to this naked, lean, but somehow thickly muscled vampire...dead sexy. *grin* (Thank you, Austin Powers.) I woke up before him by only a few seconds, and when he woke up, fast as lightening he curled his body around mine and had himself a neck-treat.
Sssss. Ouch. ;)
I swear, I'm going to end up writing a book about the psychology of young persons exploring their newfound sexuality through a fascination with vampires.
there is something in your subconsience that is trying to come to the surface...stop fighting it.
I alwas dream about vampires, and they alwas protect memnochme from harm. all dreams have meaning, take heed to them , they will save you.......... memnoch666..........
