DO crystals & gemstones actually work or are they just another fools product!!?

I watched Bullshitters last night & it had a piece on Gemstones & crystals..the end product was that all this is bullshit that it doesnt really make a difference!

I think it's whatever you perceive, personally I don't think you need any gems or crystals, It's all in the mind, in essence the mind is the best gem you can find.

Well I have a crystal I use as a pendulum and it works well at least for me, so I think it depends on the type of crystal as some are more sensetive then others on the vibration around and the paranormal activity.

I find that malachite gives of an energy that I can use to my advantage.

Yes i do believe they work. a friend of mine was married to a drinker he loved his beer. Everytime she would dip a crystal in his beer when he went to the restroom he could'nt drink the beer it made him ill.

I love my gemstones i have Amethyst, Rose Quartz & Onyx with me all the time!

It is my understanding that all gemstones possess a crystalline structure; crystalling structures can collect, focus, and emit electromagnetic energy.

I believe it is very possible that this enegry can be used for healing, among other things.

I know a person (wont call them a friend due to the fact they only come around when they want something) who has hundreds of crytals and gemstones, she has a room set aside just for that . I was over at her house a few months ago and we set up a grid of gemstones and the feeling we got was crazy, it was like a high of sorts.

I am a full believer in the power of crystals and gemstones as well...

I keep my Amethyst with me for the fact I have horrible migranes and when it comes on I can rub the stone and it will ease the pain...

Now my hematite I wear a ring at all times because it absorbs negativity from your body and after it has absorbed all it can hold it will break into pieces and fall off I then have to find another...

Since gemstones are a natural part of the earth as are we I do believe they have power of sorts. How you utilize it depends on your own beliefs and talents.

i think it depends on who is using them some people cant use them in spell because they might be more moon, cat, blood, earth bound then crystal

I believe everything in nature has its own energy that can be utilized. I have used crystals infused with energy for different things and have had success & I do have a clear quartz hanging in my car and haven't had auto trouble yet :)

I keep an Amethyst on me for healing and a malachite because ancient warriors used to wear that stone when going to battle.

Gemstones are very powerful especially with healing properties. You would be surprised at the things gems are able to do. It is a very interesting subject.

I've also heard that black onyx is an energy stone. I do wonder what blue lapiz does though?

I think they do work, it just takes the belief that it will work to make it happen.

My personal belief is that they posses an energy that can be tapped into to.

I think crystals and gems have energy from the earth. The usefullness of that energy depends on our beleif in it and our receptivenes to it.

Thing about crystals and gemstones is, you have to make them work. They won't just work on their own - if you believe they're crap and won't do anything, they won't.

I would seem to me that gemstones and minerals are just like crosses, or any other symbol- they are more a means of focusing what is inside, rather than being something that does anything in it;s own right. They are symbols more so than anything else

there are alot of things that are supposed to be magical, but i think most come from tales.
saying that though i also believe that if someone believes in something so much then it is quite possible for it to work

If you understand the concepts of matter and form you know that everything vibrates and emits its own amount of enegry which can be used for a numerous amount of things...

I am still trying to understand gemstone and crystal healing but these few concepts cannot really be denied....

As far as I know, crystals and gemstones differ in their uses and strengths for individuals.

I'm not shure.I have an aunt in ireland..that does that crystal healing stuff.To me..they are just a bunch of pretty rocks.To her it seem that they hold mineral magic,and powers of mother earth.Pttt,I gues if you believe in somthing sooooooo much,
it soon becomes real.

As a geomancer i have spent a lot of time studying the properties of gemstones and crystals, and believe me, they do work.

I have hundreds of different gemstones of all colours around my home, and they are always giving off a beautiful energy that just blends in with the atmosphere. I will however say that some gemstones can be very reluctant to show their true colours. I find that some quartz, obsidian, blue agate and goldstone are prime culprits.

Does anyone else have problems with these stones?

Depends do you know whether they are natural or manmade?

From what I understand manmade gemstones and crystals seem to have less a an effect. Which makes sense when you think about it. :)

I always try to collect mine myself from various places....loacal beaches seem to be teeming with quartz at the moment.

But when i do have to shop for them, i make sure they are not the manmade ones as they are useless to me.

I have quartz and it helps me to heal somewhere that is aching me especially muscle pain. Amethyst helps me with my emotional pain as well. It is wonderful the sensation of their vibs esp the quartz.

In a matter of experience, although i havent used gemstones before I do happen to know that through my own crystal's ive been able to heal or store energy.

I get my crystals and have been taught the usage of crystals from my Auntie, she knows much of the ways of healing.

i think anything will work if you believe it will and you have full confidence in your own beliefs and powers

I believe that certain type of crystals and gem stones can have a healing effect on people. i think that the right stones and crystals have to be chosen in order to help the person.

If you use the right crystals for the right things it works...at least in my opinion.

My Crystal and Gemstones go with me in my little black bag wherever I go,I even where one around my neck and though huge I have a Jade ring that was passed down to me from a old Gypsy,but to be sure it wasn't cursed I took it to a High Priestess for her to channel it for me.

Theres this shop here in town dedicated to gemstone/stone/and crystal healing, im thinking of learning the healing properities of gemstones and stones from them.

I absolutely adore gem stones. No altar is complete with out at least a Rose quartz! Once they are cleansed and charged by "you" they are most helpful and pleasant to have! One tip is to keep them from being touched by others as they will leave a residue. Sounds yucky, but it is true!

in the beginning of study, u can use this to give your spell oompf. later on u wont need them but will use them because you love their energy or are just adding something to make your spells original.

Even scientifically every thing has a different molecular structure and everything is made up of different forms of energy so they are all going to emit all types of energy that are useful for all sorts of things, it is just a matter of knowing how to tap into that energy to use it to heal different things

Geomagnetic Resonance! Works a treat!

Not a big crystal user, but I have a chunck of smoky quartz and if I hold onto it an concentrate for a few moments I can feel the immediate physical calming effect centering me a treat!

I have learnt acceptance over understanding in the last years, I do not need to know HOW it works, just that it DOES work.

Crystals have their own purposes and there are benefits to each. You have to find the ones that call to you and will benefit your dairy tasks.

If you personally believe strongly enough in something have an effect on you virtually any piece of crap will work for you.

Crystals are only nicer to look at :-) But there is no reason simple SiO2 should have any more effect on you than air. Unless you get hit over the head with it. ;-)

i saw that program too - the bullshit detectives wasnt it? there is a lot of con artists out there, and there are a lot of self delusional people - but i believe there is something in it. it is hubris to assume we know the answer to everything, and to dismiss something out of hand because we dont know how it works is not scientific.

I believe that what you may have witnessed is someone who has heard of their power, but has no idea how to use it. Stones and crystals have power in the right hands. The are only tools however.

I believe that crystals and gemstones do work. My ex-girlfriend used to have bad dreams until we bought a nice size piece of amethyst(sp?) to set next to her side of the bed along with others that we set around the house. Once they were in place the dreams were no longer as frequent nor as severe.

Jade and topaz have always been stones that gave me energy or strength, i derive the energizing of the topaz from my native american tradition, my aunt jola has taught me much the usage of topaz.

Jade has always been something that brought me luck. I have this special jade ring that I wear on gloomy days.

Im not entirely sure though if either of these stones would help anybody out in their own regard.

The belief that crystals can focus and direct energy is a scientificaly based assumption. Crystals do focus light, which is a form of energy. Therefore it is plausible to assume that crystals can also focus other forms of energy such as magicall energy.

That sounds an interesting television programme, SamofVamps! Right through history gemstones and crystal have been associated with some kind of magic. There is a lot of research to be found on the web about it, but yet pesonally I still have to see these stones actually "work"

Copper is different being a metal of course, but as we know that helps some medical conditions.

i believe that they work, i use them mainly as crystal healing, i.e. headaches, when your feeling down, etc, i also use them in spells, i bought a new one yesterday, which is a Malachite

altough i experience healing power from crystals and i believe in wicca; i strongly believe that what you believe in. it is all in the power of thy mind. if you say that walk right thru under a ladder it is bad luck, and strongly believe it, bad luck comes. Friday the 13th only once occured to be to have bad luck but then it turned out to be good luck. nowadays i see only the good luck of it and it does.

I use crystals on a regular basis, they can be a focal point of ur healing towards someone especially since most times im sending alot of energy out into the world to friends that live in different states. Their quite handy if not often used.

It depends a lot on your own personal belief, if you think they don't work more than likely they wont. In the grand schem of things there is little need for stones or any object, however many people find that they do help.

Crystals and gems are bound to the earth and with that they have energy that can be used. I think they work!!! If they don't then what does? It's hard to say whether or not a crystal, or gemstone of any sort really does work itself. On it's own, well, it's possible. But what makes crystals and gemstones work is the energy that is coming from the person who is using them. I've been working with crystals for a little over a year now and I must say that they truly do work. It all depends on the person and the energy coming from them. I also believe that it depends on how much you believe the powers will work. If you believe strongly enough the crystals will work with you and for you!

I do find they are helpful when used right, but some are just rocks and yeah you get a lot of bull...

I think it would just depend on the strength and will of the person who is using the crystals and gemstones. If you believe anything is possible then it'll happen.

Zhat might be an assumption, but as assumptions go it's neither scientificaly based nor correct.
Looking at it from a scientific point of view crystals by themselves can only dissipate never focus energy. That's because the otherwise the crystal would need to have a smoothly changing lattice parameter which in itself would stop it being a crystal... At least you'd have a phase.transition to a glass or a different state.

You are right and i stand corrected. In my enthousiasm I forgot to take in account that crystal in their raw form do not focus anything. However wouldn't you agree that once proparly cut a crystal can be made to focus light and energy. I was refferring to these.

But then it's not something which should be attributed to the crystal per se, right? It's more or less a result of the applied knowledge of the craftsman. And if we allow this, I'm sorry to inform you, that it would be possible to get any crap to focus and direct energy.

Crystals do indeed work as well as other stones...The Indian shaman's worked with power stones to heal and to do spiritual work....I carry tiger's eye, Jet, and apache tears stones in my little pouch. and in many cases they have worked for me on certain things ....

I use a large quartz crystal to focus my energy for magickal workings.

I'm not a believer in the pure power of a lone crystal - they seem to help direct annd focuc energy but do not provide any themselves. So it really depends on the strength of the user, like someone has said. Your spell cannot depend on your stone; rather, you can use your stone to help you with your spell. It can't do much of anything on its own; the power lies in the spell-caster.

Anything can work when given the right power to it.

In my belief they are a huge part of my life and faith. I strongly believe they work. its how you use them thats the problem.

i believe that you need a fair amount of experience to be able to effectively use crytals...if you are now experienced enough they might backfire on you

I use a quartz crystal and also an opale and they both are wonderfull.

Every time my husband gos under-way (he's on a submarine)...I give him a special crystal that was given to me for protection. I suppose that it's safe to say that I believe and trust in the power.

crystals and gems hold diffreant energys from the earth and work in diffrent ways some people cant use them for one reason or another and some can i my self cant hold or even be near rose crystals because i dran all the energy out of them

all gemstones and crystals were gifts to us from mother earth,so they hold the power of the elements.so with right channeling,i think we would be able to harness the strengths/powers they hold.

As a rule, birthstones are usually not very good for channeling, however, emerald (in it's raw form and not the precious gem associated with jewellery) can be used to channel some energies. It depends on what you would like to channel i suppose.

Thanks menerfecious those are some good info on it. So the emerald in its raw state is only effective your saying and it could possibly be use almost for about anything. If I ever have any use for it, it would be various things, such as helping me change my luck or convert my negitive energy to positive energy. Believe me I think I could use as much help I can get from them. Im sure there are different elements for various purposes. If anyone got any more tips or advise then please let me know.

i think Crystals and Gemstones do work. If you don't think they work then they will not work because you are not allowing them to work. If you are open and receptive to the crystal's power then their power will work.
