I normally would not think of myself as a mind reader, But My ex-girlfriend and I always seemed to know what the other was think. It wasn't like we gave each other hints at what we wanted.

Once she was thinking about drawing this picture and I drew it exactly like she had pictured it. I didn't even know she wanted to draw it.

I've been told by some people that it has something to do with our emotional connection. I never had it with anyone else.

Have any of you had similar experiences?

Yes. I have it with my husband. It was like that when we first started hanging out. It is a connection. Ever since that day we have been together since. It has been 10 years now.

I have it quite often with about 2 of my closest friends. Somehow we always finish each others sentences or we know what the other is thinking & tend to say it out loud at the same exact time

I think the key word is connections. When we connect with a person we open up to them. Depending on those involved I do think that this happens more often than people are aware.

I agree with Liebe. A friend of mine and myself would be in a coversation and at the same time say the same thing together at the last words of the conversation. We felt as tho we were sisters completly each other's sentences.

Yes, i have had that happen, but i don't think it really has to do with "reading minds." it is more of an emotional bond. after being around someone for a certain period of time, you begin to understand how they think. you know how they react to certain things...so it is more of an understanding than a mind reading.

I have often wondered what it was.....a connection....as I have with my two best friends. We can tell what the other is thinking, feeling and sometimes even finish each other's sentences.

In my work....it is more about reading body language, knowing patterns and having experience in counseling.

None of it is really mind reading for me at least.

yes, it happens to my boyfriend and me all the time! :) i love it, because (it sounds cliche) he can say something, and I will be able to finish his sentence. and sometimes, i say the things before he even does! it's pretty funny, but interesting too :)

True- I can tell with my best friends, and sisters when they are upset by the tone of voice, even they way they talk and act around me.

As long as we have known each other- that is not unknown. :)

I understand what you are all saying, but I wasn't just talking about completing each others sentences. I was talking about images and thoughts that run through both minds at the same time, even though neither person has said anything about them.

yes my sister and i have had the same images or thoughts at times

When you develop an intimate (I don't mean sex I mean close, you touch each others souls) relationship with someone be it friend or otherwise its natural to develop a psychic connection as well. Some are stronger due to individual psychic strength. But its a wonderful thing to have and something that you can work on and continue to develop over time. Just like twins that don't speak but know exactly the thoughts of each other. Enjoy it and treasure it.

I've had those kinds of experiences with old bfriends and some of my closest friends...I don't like it...

I've experienced things like that several times, mostly just with my mom and my best friend. Sounds completely dorky but today I picked up my purse and at the exact same time my mom and I both gently swung our purses towards my dog playing with her. It was kinda funny actually.

A extremely close friend of mine lives in Canada. When I got off of work I messaged him. He typed me the lyrics that I had been singing all day to a song that was stuck in my head. It was very odd. But things like that happen a lot between us.

I don't consider a mind reader, but I can tell you what has happened to me. Nobody has to tell me what is going on in their heads, I usually can tell just by looking at them. Example: My girlfriend was leeaving my house. She looked at me and said "I'll see you tomorrow". I had a premonition that sent shivers down my spine, and for some unknown reason at the time, I just replied " Don't get in the car." The following day she came to my house, and told me that she had remembered what I said, and that when her friend came to pick her up the next day something told her not to get in.
Her friend got into an accident and was nearly thrown through the windshield.
When you love and care about somebody close to you, you know things before they happen, therefore you take responsibility for their safety.

Well I don't consider myself a mind reader but I have felt a connection with a few people in my life. We seemed to finish each others thoughts and sentences.

I don't think it's mind reading, but then again if you drew a picture exactly how she was thinking it, that isn't from any type of connection to me...

Me & my guy, he always knows what Im thinking, it's because he knows me inside out. I don't have to say anything, he can tell if Im angry, I dont show signs of it, but he knows exactly when Im annoyed.

Sometimes I find it hard speaking & getting something I want to say out in the right way, & he'll tell me how to put it without me asking

It's just that we know each other so well, were used to each others signs, body language, facial expressions etc

I have had this happen before! but i do not think it has to do with reading minds because when you hear people taking about this kind of thing its usually always with someone that they are connected with in some way..I think a true mind reader would have the abilty to do it with everyone they encounter...

Only with songs, i'll start humming something when i'm around someone, and it was the exact song they were thinking of, also online, in chat rooms and on MSn i'll put a song up and it will be the same song the person i am talking to is listening to. They says its freaky i think its cool makes me feel special! Guffaw @_@

The last time my husband was deployed to Iraq. I had lost a friend who died of a drug overdose. I was devistated. All I remember is crying so hard that I needed to talk to my husband. The next thing I know is that he called me and asked me what was wrong. Because he felt that I was hurting. That has happened a few other times. I believe it is because we are connected through our souls and we can feel eachother even though we are not near each other.

me and my girlfriend do that all the time. it is so cool because we can finish each others sentences and she will say what i am thinking and i can do the same to her. it is funny, but at the same time i like it because it is like we are in each otthers minds.

I think you are all right about it being of a special connection. I've always loved my ex-girlfriend and she loves me. We both wish that we could be together. We still get those moments were we can communicate without a word.

My husband and I have experienced that numerous times. It's a very special bond in every sense, resulting in a fine tuning between two people. You're much more aware of things, you know how they think, how they act, their likes/dislikes, etc.

Has anyone had it happen with someone that they are not connected to? Ishta seems to be the first one to post where that might be the case.

It is interesting to see how many of these relate to real connections that people have developed.

mind reading is an ability we all have it just becomes easer as we know the person or have a close connection the stronger your mind is the easer it is to read thoughts

I have that experience all the time it's called telepathy, and it works when you have a strong connection with someone.

It's happened to me with my mom and my ex. I could tell my mom was coming home and what she brought for dinner, though I wouldn't call it mind reading. We were just on the same wavelength and thought alike.

I believe that it happens when people share close connections. I've experienced it with several family members and close friends (I'll think about them, then they'll call, that sort of thing.)

I've experienced this in brief periods of time throughout my life with different people. It's all about timing and how open the other person is. If you are relaxed and content around someone it is easier to open yourself up to them, almost completely, thats when, I believe things such as this happen

People who live together or spend a lot of time together for a signifcant period of time develop a hyper sensitivity to the other persons body language or facial expressions thus appearing to know what they will say before they do.

I do believe it is just a connection of emotions that allow you to respond how the other was going to. Many of my friends true but only two can finish my sentences the way I plained on saying them.

There's definitely a difference between telepathy and finishing someone's sentence or writing what they were thinking.

The thing is, the longer you hang around someone, the more you know what they are like. There's a higher tendency for you to just happen to like or draw or experience the same kinds of things they like.

Reading minds is much more complicated, and most who have expressed an ability to be telepathic turned out to be schizophrenic.

Practice with lucidity and astral travel cana apparently make you more adept at reading minds, though.

Some people are just more open to "send" and "receive" thoughts when they are around some one they care about. My husband and I are the same why. We finish each others sentences all the time. When one of wants some thing the other almost always knows. I'm not sure if this is really "mind reading" or just be able to connect really well with another person.

Sometimes I think my kids and I read eachothers minds.

friend, lover, family member, it has not really importance to it, the connexion is one of th esoul itself, it can cross oceans, I have this with a friend of mine he is like about 7 hours of time, an ocean and a continent away, we never physicly touched and he can sens in his bones and his mind what I think and what I am about to say or do , and this almost every day, he like write to me asking why did I do that or why amd I crying or what was so funny...or what was the emrgency and at that point I did not even contact him or told anyone yet..I am all alone and he has no way but to only be in contact with me with his ousl or mind directly..pretty scary at times..cant hide anything.

i do believe mindreading is possible but what you are talking about i have experinced with more then one of my close friends so much to the point the other day i went to call one and when i picked up the phone she was like wow the phone never even rang she had already called me. that is just being really connected on a spititual level that is hard to reach with most

I have that same thing happen with my husband and my best friend but I always attributed it to my natural empathic abilities. I just assumed that since I know them the best, their wants and needs came through the strongest.

empathy is a form of "mind reading" a lot of couples that have been together for a long time do it also twins and close siblings as well.

I get that a lot. Customers that come to my store start asking a question and I automatically know what they want and get it for them before they can even finish asking. lol

Also people around me have been astounded that I know what they're thinking without them having to even tell me. It's freaky sometimes... but I've learned to live with it. And yes, it doesn't happen with everyone... just more than half of the people I meet & know.

With some ppl its not s much a midn reading issue as it is epmathy....

Some believe that we are all connected. If that is true then it might explain many cases of so-called mind reading.

A few years ago a photon was split. The two photons were sent in separate directions through a fiber optics cable. When they were 14 miles apart the fun began. The split photons mimiced the movemment of one another even though they were 14 miles apart. They acted as though they were still connected to one another.

I think that once you are around someone for so long, that you become really close. I think that, that close ness is what you are confusing with a mental connection. I can't explain the picture thing though. I have only been that close to one person ,as far as finishing each others sentences and things of that nature, my best friend WolfHeart15.

Chartreusedreams- All I'm saying is that if all things are connected, as the splitting of the photons might indicate then mindreading might not really be mindreading after all, but rather two people having the same thought at the same time BECAUSE they are connected. Yet, why wouldn't more people have the same thought? Indeed they might. But beacuse they are not Known to one another they have no way of comparing notes.

To me, it's a connection of spirits more than anything else.The closer that your spirit's energy is with another the more that your in tune with them.It happens to a lot of people in small or large amounts and they may not even notice it.

I think once you know someone well enough and are connected to them on some level, yes you will be able to have an inkling to what may be going on in their head. I do not believe anyone can read the mind of random people they meet on the street.

i only had that with one person in my life , and she's not it in anymore. It hurt when she broke the connection. but i havent had it with anyone. I can guess the intentions of pple but that s about it.

I have had this experience.. It came from having a deep bond with someone on many levels.. and sometimes it would result in saying things at the same time after a silence..

It lasted a while.. but then things went wrong....
and the Bond got shattered.- nuff said

I have this with my children all the time.. I understand their feelings and thoughts.

i have experenced this with close friend i was away for a long time and one day i knew to cal there was something wrong with them and it turned out i was right a family member had passed on

I read few years ago about this but, in the end, nothing can be proved 100%... the sure thing is that if you spend a long period of time with some people, you start to 'guess' what they`re going to do, say, 'think'... and this i`ve experienced myself

I can mind read but i duno how 2 controlk it it just happens but iv also done it with people i dont know thats how im sure their was no other reason that could have happend.



You can have connections with people so you both think or say the same thing as each other. but you really have to have a connection for this. like i have it with 1 of my best friends and bf. But i can mind read anyways.

I think many of those mind relationships have to do with how long one has known an individual. I have had that experience MANY times with my brother to the point where I could have sworn that we were twins because we thought so much alike... It was very scary. I also had that experience with my ex, I almost always could figure out what he was thinking with out him having to say a word to me. The same goes for him, although I think I was a little bit more sucessful with it for one reason or another lol. *shrugs*

My friend Sorathecrimson and I have something like that. I always know when she's about to call me (she won't tell me she's calling at such time). She'll always know how I feel about something without looking at my face or anything... I don't know you'd have to see us to know...

I have shared this experience with a few people.

Some, were closer emotionally than others, but I still feel that empathic transmission plays a part.

It is difficult to see where the lines between true telepathy and empathy with intent are.

The most strongly, are felt when the two are focused upon one another, especially simultaneously. Two minds, two systems, actively seeking the other. Knowing the other, having had physical contact and being able to 'picture' that other in the mind with clarity, all seem to help the process.

its am emotional connection most of the time when ever this stuff happens...but it can also be a soul mate connection in some cases.

Yes I have experienced this. AGain, I go back to this 6th sense type of thing. Something you cannot explain. It's kind of like when you say things at the same time someone else does with a person that is close to you.

This happens with me and my boyfriend all the time. It's crazy, we laugh about, We figure that is why we are so close.

My daughter hates it because she says she can never get away with a lie. Sometimes I pretend not to know so she feels like a kid with a none mind reading parent.

I've found out I can do it with emotions basically. I've always been able to pick up the phone and call someone because I know somethings wrong with them. Done it a few times with my friends only to find they answer the phone crying their eyes out. I've been able to do it with my Ex, and he was never sure how to take it and I think I freaked him out to be honest. I think sometimes its really a emotional connection and really knowing the person for so long to just get that feeling in the pit of you're stomach/ upper part of you're heart. That you just know something is wrong.

I had that kind of connection with my ex. I haven't had it with anyone else. Really makes me wonder.

Deathtominds, that is a good point, but I suppose there are very small factors of the idea that wouldn't quite do that much damage :-)

im not a mind reader but my boy friend is. when we first met it would kinda scare me cause i would think somethin and he would anwser before i could even say any thing

deathtoall - I understand what you are saying, but I think another big part of the mind reading persona and the ability to read minds comes from both the reader and the readee.

It is much harder for one to read another's thoughts/mind if the readee does not want to open themselves up to being read. Or, to look at it on the other side of the spectrum, if someone keeps their heart on their shoulder or one is just a very open individual (subconsciously) then they are much more susceptible to having their minds read.

For most people, I would think it would be hard to read EVERYONE's mind, just for that reason. Some people are easy to read, and others are not.

So, there can be mind readers in the world, but it doesn't mean that they can easily read just anyone's mind.

I also believe that one can "block" someone else from reading their mind. I can usually sense when someone is trying to do this to me, and if I want them to know, I will open myself up to being read, but if I do not want them to know, I have ways of blocking out my thoughts to that person. Therefore hindering any kind of mind reading that individual was trying to do.

Vampiress....yes! I too find that open personalities are easier to "know" something about. When a person is open, they are much easier to read. Their body language is more relaxed, their faces show more expression, and they emit thoughts.

I too block myself off when I know someone is focusing on me. I picture tv snow...that black and white stuff from poltergeist? and that blocks my thoughts.

Trivia, I'm glad that you see where I am coming from! lol. That's funny that you use the snow from TV to block people. I have a plethora of different ways in which I block people from reading me if I choose not to be read, but one of them is just changing what I am thinking all together to something that has nothing to do with my actual concerns.

If someone was really good at mind reading could they do it so you couldn't tell?

Same here... It's something unexplainable.. almost like that self intuition or that "gut" feeling..

Yes I have had that experience and yes with me it is only when I am emotionaly in sink with that person. At times there are some that by way of a fluke may happen but for the most part its with the ones that are closest that it happens. That is from my experiences.

For me, it's my sister. We are practically one person. We may say "creepy" when those thoughts overlap, but in truth, we love it and are very close.

Thedame...you are correct. That is why I have a difficult time explaining how I know that someone is in my mind. It is almost like a link...but its not.

It could be the emotional connection, or maybe you're both naturally receptive. Or both.

My best friend and I not only sense each others feelings but we share pain. If she gets hurt, I immediately feel it and call her. When she breaks out in hives from stress - so do I. We finish each others sentances and can usually pick up each other's thoughts.

I believe when you are truly connected with another you can do at least some of these things.

yes, i have had similar connections w/ a few people. (i think i wrote about it under another thread) I was recently out of state and my guy and i had an uncanny ability of knowing when the other really needed to talk, and even what it was that was needed to be heard w/out knowing the exact situation the other was in.

It happens to me with some of my friends.

With copuples and family members can happen more especially with twins.

It is possible that it was mind reading, but i doubt it...

I have to agree with the members replying to this post. I believe that a connection must exist in order for mind reading to work. I think the deeper the connection the easier it is to read one's mind or to know what the other one is feeling or thinking for that matter.

it is a connection that you share with your soul mate it is a rare thing and it is something that I wish to have in my life someday.

I think that if two people have a strong enough love or bond they can feel each other. My best friend and I can do the typical "finishing each other's sentences" all the time. I don't believe you can read her mind, but maybe feel her soul...

I have this kinda thing with my best friend Jade. We always finish each others sentences as well always know what we're going to say.. And whenever we fins out some gossip say bout a mate we both do this 'Muuh' thing in exactly the same voice, pitch and time. It's weird but really amazing at the same time.
i think its because over tie you get to know the person's emotional felings and you have special connections with one another. We've been like this for the past 3 years =] x

Me and my wife is the same way, Like when I take here out, she can tell me where we are going before we get there....
