While doing some Googling for some other information I came across this article today.
and was wondering how many others have been visited by lost loved ones in their dreams?
I myself have been visited by my grandfather in my dreams and also a past boyfriend that passed away several years ago. With my grandfather if was a warning to be careful. For my ex it was that he was alright .
here is the article :
One of the easiest places for a person who has passed on to visit with you is in your dreams. It's like a natural. There are two key things to having this wonderful thing happen for you.
One is that you just be aware that it is possible.
The other thing is that you not be afraid.
When a person passes on they are no longer in pain. They do not care about your circumstances, but they still love you. And, if they didn't love you before they love you now. The issues we have with people in our lives who have passed on become one-sided. All of those issues are now on your side. The Person in Spirit doesn't care that they had a life-long feud with you. The Person in Spirit doesn't care that you betrayed them. The Person in Spirit loves you like nobody you've ever had love you before in your life.
The Person in Spirit might have had a wasting away disease. They may have lost the use of their body. Their hair might have all fallen out prior to their passing. They might have looked like crap. But, now? In Spirit they are whole and healthy. They might even appear to be younger than they were when they passed on.
They are not moldering in grave dust and dripping with ghoulish zombie like stuff. So, you can file that little factoid away in your brain and not be afraid of what they are actually going to look like if and when they visit you in your dreams.
Another thing that happens is that Spirit does not want. They don't want you to finish going to school. They don't want you to learn to drive a car. They don't want you to have more children. They don't want you to miss them. They don't want you to go pull up the floorboards to discover the $1,000,000 they squirreled away there 20 years ago. So, generally, you're not going to be getting messages like that in your dreams from them.
They're just going to stop by to say hi. You'll awaken in the morning knowing that you dreamed about your Uncle Ralph who's been gone 8 years. He was there to sit beside you on a park bench. That's all. It wasn't a momentous visit. He just sat beside you. And, in the morning you'll know that he visited with you.
Now, the whole thing gets a whole lot better if you are lucid in your dream. That's what happened to me the first time my mother came to visit with me.
She'd been dead for awhile. I can't remember how long. But, I was still raw with the grieving of her. Interestingly, my Uncle Beau who'd been dead a whole lot longer eased the way for me to meet with her. I hadn't ever dreamed of him that I can remember, but he was in the dream showing me some of the wonderful pictures of flower arrangements he'd done. They were all behind these really big glass showcases on the wall. He and I stood side by side and I admired his work. Then, he pinched my butt. I think that was to get me lucid. Anyway, I jerked away and said, "What did you do that for?" He didn't say anything and we walked into the next room. He disappeared as people do in dreams and I was in a room that held an indoor swimming pool.
It was very dark in the room and the pool went right up almost to the walls. There was a very narrow walkway going around the three sides of the pool with a larger area right where I was standing. I "knew" that the pool was shallow at the end I was standing at and very deep at the other end. From the deep end of the pool, slowly with the water swooshing off of it, a marble bust of my mother rose out of the water. It was a life size bust of her and it began to move forward, toward me. It was like watching a dolphin dancing on its' fins walking on the water. I stepped into the water moving toward this bust of my mother and as we came together it turned into her.
To this day, remembering this dream, I tear up. It was that moving for me. She and I embraced and I knew her as I had known her when she was alive. I cried and she held me and it is how I know that people who have passed on can visit us in our dreams. I awakened from that dream in tears.
It was the first time I'd dreamed of my mother after she had died. It was also the first of many visits. I'm not generally lucid in my dreams. I don't always have that particular clarity and control available in a lucid dream, but I can count on my mother being in my dreams a lot. She will play one of the supporting characters. It's like I have movies in my head at night and she will sometimes be there. I know in the morning and thank her for the visit knowing that once again my mother came to visit me.
The process of having a visit from Someone in Spirit is very much the same as leaning how to channel. You've got to want to do it and then you have to stop with the yearning. So, wanting and wanting and wanting to dream of your daughter who is dead, or your husband who has passed on is going to put a stick in the spoke of your progress. Wanting deeply and then surrendering completely the want is what will finally make it happen.
Sometimes just knowing that it can happen is all that it will take.

Interesting article, I liked reading it.
It is conforting to know you can dream of loved ones who have passed. I personally have not known anyone who has passed yet, thankfully.. But if i did i would hope to dream of them.
yes i have had lost loved ones come to me in dreams and also when i am awake also. i feel as long as you are open to them they will come to you weither you are awake or asleep.
My best friend always said hed come back to haunt me, well he messes with me all the time in dreams.
I have a grandfather that visits me in my dreams, usually when I am under extreme stress. It is not unusual for such things to happen, all you need do is be open to them.
I am a firm believer in communicating with others in dreams. Our shields are down when we are asleep and it is easier for us to hear the voices and spirits that are trying to communicate with us then.
I believe that when we sleep we are capable of "traveling" to a different plane. We can see and hear and do things we would never be able to do in waking life. It's possible for our loved ones to visit us in our dreams simply because we are thinking of them. Dreams are our subconscious mind working out our troubles of the day, week, month...ect. If we are thinking of someone they tend to show up in our dreams. I've recently lost a close friend who was also best friends with my cousin and his girl friend. She's been dreaming of him recently and has found comfort in seeing him. She also dreams of her mother and father and every "visit" brings her peace. Whether or not the spirit of the person is really there doesn't matter if it brings the dreamer comfort and piece of mind.
I had one once..but I really don't remember it. I like the article.
My dad visits me around Samhain. It's nice to know that he loves me & is proud of me for all that I've done & for the person that I turned out to be.
Well, the article is based totally on conjecture but that does not mean I do not agree. I feel (or used to) feel my grandfather's presence arounf my grandmother while she was alive. I seldom dream about them and when I do I usually wake up to a panic attack (I have extremely vivid dreams).
my mother's parents visit me...i was born after they died but they come around in dreams...i didnt know who they were at first ...sometimes it makes me happy..other times sad
My love ones talk to me when I'm awake. Man can they talk.lol Makes me feel safe.Enjoy those dreams they are a real gift.
P.S. thank you for sharing this kind thought with us. It's nice to know love is always.
I have experienced this several times when I am dealing with a great deal of stress in my everyday life. I feel that it is a comforting omen to have this happen to me.
The article was interesting. I have a personal experience that makes me agree with the statement about how the loved one is there to just say hi....
My younger brother killed himself a year and 10 months ago. The night after he died, he visited me in my dreams. The dream was not exciting or weird or eventful. It was just the two of us sitting on a couch, him holding my hand. We didn't talk at all, but had a sort of "knowing" communication. He was letting me know silently that he was okay and he loved me.
The sitting quietly and holding hands was a significant symbol for me because that is how we had spent our last day together one year before he died. He was always so quiet but very loving, and that is why I think it was actually him in my dreams.
I've had dreams "about" him since then, specifically nightmares of what the suicide was like or looked like. I know those dreams are NOT him visiting.
Thanks for sharing the article and your experience!
I believe in this totally... When i was almost ready my grandfather warned me that it wouldn't turn out the way I wanted.. but told me that everything would be ok.
During sleep people are far more willing to accept things like this than when awake. Well those that do not believe anyway at least. So it makes it much easier for the spirit to come across... and much easier for the person to simply enjoy and be comforted by this rather that being frightened.
I have had it happen often and always comforts and makes me a bit more accepting of the death.
I have seen my grandfather in my dreams many times. especially if I go to bed extremely upset, worried or stressed. I have, also, on a few occasions, seen my wife and child, who died in an auto accident, a few times.
As a kid I was visited by my grandfather, he was saying goodbye to me. We found out that he died in a car crash around the same time.
I have also seen my first wife in my dreams but think it was just dreams and nothing more.
That's a very interesting article. I've never had someone visit me however. But then I've never really had someone I loved die =)
How odd it is, that all who die around me do not approach my dreams, just the living...That is after I keep thinking about them on a constant basis.
Dreamscaping is a handy tool when you miss that certain someone. Either you appear to them, or they to you.
I do have dreams where certain individuals who have passed on come to me, but it is always those of whom I had no relation with.
The ethereal is such a wonderful place.
I have had that happen to me before. It was my grandma telling me when I was really sick that everything would get better. Funny thing was after seeing her it did get better.
It's an interesting thought, though I have never seen a lost loved one in my dreams though I count myself lucky for that. I dont think it's something I could handle well.
Many come to me through meditation....I have dreamt of my ex-husband but he is still on this plane..I guess that was asterial travel. I have learnt that through meditation also your loved ones can come that have passed on to the Spirit world.
I have expereinced the visits of two loved ones shortly after they died. They were there to reassure me that they were ok. I have not experienced it since. That has been many years ago.
I do not know about continued visits but I do think loved ones will sometimes stop in to tell us they are ok.
I also had loved one visit me in my dreams they usally their to warm me help me thru a problem or just for confort i used to have long conversation with my granpa about things that were happing to me . and that article is very good
I have had loved ones return for reasons only they could explain but their presence, no matter how short a time, seemed to calm me.
Interesting article. I myself believe my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather have visited me.
One time to let me know they were okay and happy...
And once to let me know it was okay to be happy on Valentines day even though for me it was a day for sorrowing (it was the day my greatgrandmother died).
If it was real I don't know but I believe it to be. Can't prove something only you have been "witness" to.
When my grandmother died I saw her often in dreams. She would talk to me and tell me she was waiting for my grandfather. I noticed that each time I saw her she was getting younger.
When my grandfather died, I saw them both one more time as a young couple and have not dreamed of them since.
I believe that while we sleep and dream, we all have the ability to communicate with loved ones who have passed on...In dreams our minds are free and the restrictions some of us put up around us are let go...
I have had my Great Grandmother visit me, who I loved but lost at the age of 4. I remember as a child waking in the morning and telling my family about how she came to play with me...I had a sense of comfort knowing that she was still with me...Now and then she comes back to say hi and I cherish every thought and dream of her
My mom visited me few times checking up on me i guess to see how i was doing and also to remind me not to forget about her that she is out there looking out for me.
I have had these dreams from time to time. In fact they seem the only dreams I am able to remember. Always when I seem to have dreams in accordance with my past, or an extreme troublesome days.
I will not go into the content of these dreams not out of embarrassment, but they are personal.
i dont think ive ever experienced a visitation from a dead loved one but my best friend and i sometimes wake up and know that we were both dreaming about each other. one of us will call and it gets pretty freaky sometimes but i think its because we have loved each other for years and know each others thoughts. we dont really have to talk. unfortunately she moved and then i did so were really far away from each other and im sure the bond will fade. i dont expect to wake up ever again with the smell of her hair lingering
Yes my mom she comes to me in dream's and while Im awake and it strange cause both my parent's died same time, same place and my dad never comes to me. I often wonder if it was cause me and her were so close or what? Or the fact he died at scene of accident and she survived a few hr's in hospital? Ok went off subject (rambles alot) ..lol
Yes, you have to be very open to let this happen to you.
When I was around 10 my grandmother passed and for years she would come to me in my dreams and visit......it was so comforting.....she would take me to her home and we would just make christmas ornaments.....and talk....
yes these were things we did when she was living, but in my dreams she would tell me stories and I learned a lot from those dreams .......about life and things I need to do...
I am hoping that as an adult I havent lost that ability to visit with them.....I havent lost any one that close.....but will be very soon.
Yes, I have had loved ones who had passed on communicate with me in my dreams..
I lost my sister a few years ago and just recently she has been visiting me in my dreams...it's not frightening while I'm dreaming but I wake up with a sense of urgency...like I have to do something...but I don't know what...
I also dreamt of my gfriends mom...who I had never met and who had died years ago...I was having a picnic with this woman in my dream talking about my gfriend...
What any of this means I'm not sure...I've read the initial post and to be quite honest I don't believe much of what's written there...alright so dead people will not manifest themselves as zombies...I'll believe that cause I want to...:)
i do quite a bit---i think its my grandma telling me that something i dont see is wrong!
Yes I have had dreams about loved ones that have passed. At times I believe it is just me remembering them as they were. I have had times that it has felt as though there was a reason I was seeing them.
You never know *Kaun they might be trying to communicate. I've been told we are more open to the spirit world in our sleep.
I also enjoyed the article. I have had many visits from members of my family, and other lost loved ones. I have always believed that they were visiting me. It's nice to see it in print. It gives me comfort! Thanks for sharing!
i have had this happen to me in my dreams and also not dreaming, seeing im not alone in this is kool, hopefully if this lasts we can share more of our incounters
my dad comes to me in dreams an awfull lot...and nights when that happens..i awaken so happy, happy with tears~
I see my brother almost every night in my sleep.
I believe it's because I miss him very dearly.
However, I've never seen my great, great grandmother, but I guess that's because I don't remember her very well.
I was five when she died.
i agree a love one can and could show up into your dreams to give information to help to do many things, so i would have to say i definitely agree.
I found this in a dream dictionary~~
To see the dead in your dream, forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people and are hanging around the wrong crowd. You may suffer material loss. This dream may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on. To see and talk with your dead father in your dream, signifies that you are about to enter into an unlucky transaction or rotten deal. Thoroughly think through your decisions before entering into them. To see your dead mother in your dream, signifies your wretched and mean-hearted nature towards others around you. Seeing your dead parents in your dreams, may mean your fears of losing them or your way of coping with the loss. You may want that last opportunity to say your final good-byes to them. To see your dead sibling, relative, or friend alive in your dream, indicates that you miss them and are trying to relive your old experiences you had with them. In trying to keep up with the pace of your daily waking life, you dreams may serve as your only outlet in coping and coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.
I dont see anyone but i do hear them talk to me does that count...but then again i hear the live ones talking to me when they shouldnt be too.
I've lost many people but my dreams aren't clear enough to know whether all of them have visited me in them. I know about three of them have, but that leaves another questionable five. I guess they didn't have anything in particular to say since I didn't get the message, or maybe its my fault that I am too blind to know what it was they wished to say.
Great article. Something freaky happen to my mom after her mom died. She was praying on her knees at her mother's bedside (my grandma was already put to rest by now and everything)...anyway, my mom asked her for a sign that she was ok, in heave, etc. All of a sudden this huge bed came apart. The boards collapsed and frame broke apart...odd? Yeah...A sign? I think so :) My mom never prayed again for a sign to make sure my grandma was in heaven hahaha.
I personally have experienced two dreams in which my grandfather, who passed away when I was 9, came to me and seemed to be trying to communicate a message.
I completely believe that it is possible for spirits to send messages via dreams.
I dream quite often of those that I have loved and lost, whether they be dead or just let go.
my cousin died suddenly 2 years ago and about half an hour before i found out she was even ill i had a rather strange urge to ask after her, i had a strange feeling. then i went out to my band practice and i passed out for a few moments. next thing i know another of my cousins came over and told me what happened i felt so weak....now i see her in my dreams...usually before something that will have a big effect on my life happens.
she was there in my dream the night before my fiance asked me to marry him, and she was there the night before i found out my mum was dying...but it is comforting to know that she is still here for me.
i have seen my daughter's dad numerous times in dreams the first one was so real that when i awoke i was where i was in my dream but he was not there it was the day after he died before i had found out and in the dream me and him were talking at my dining room table drinking coffee and that is where i woke up drinking coffee at my dining room table
My ex was in many of my dreams since she past. Actually she was in my dreams before I had even met her. She still enters every now and again.
wow that one is strange but not all too uncommon....it must have been hard at the time though.
ive really never have dreams of my dead loved ones, its more reality with me
I lost my daughter when she was 5 weeks and 3 days old on April 10th of 2004...she is who I dream of...I've had reoccurring dreams where I'm sitting in a rocking chair that is home to an abandon house, wearing Amish clothing while rocking my daughter as she lies lifeless...
And another where I'm at her grave site digging her up yet I can't seem to dig deep enough, I just keep digging and digging while my family stands await crying and telling me "Meah, she's not there, she's in heaven, why are you doing this?"...
Other than these two dreams I haven't remembered any others I've ever had...
i have been visted by loveone in my dreams and sometimes during the day.
when you have something on your mind alot you useally dream it correct ? well i do anyways ive been keeping a loved one in my mind to dream about her i go to bed with her on my mind during the day and night and i cant dream of her why might this be
My Father came to me in my dreams the night that he lost his battle with cancer. I was staying at my cousins' house and had not known that he had passed until the morning after. All I could see was this bright, white figure. He did not speak in any language, he did not gesture with his hands, but I could understand him. He told me everything was going to be alright, all was forgiven in the end, all was well. I woke up that morning knowing even before my Mother called. But I was at peace; I had closure.
yes i had my dad come and visit me in my dreams after 6yrs since he died.. i really dont rember much about it cause its been awhile but i do remember him telling me he was watching over me and keeping me safe. witch he haS
I have experienced this several times when I am dealing with a great deal of stress in my everyday life. I feel that it is a comforting omen to have this happen to me.
it happens a lot to me especially when i am very stressed.
yes i too think that a lost love could come to you in your dreams, but i think that it could go one step forward then that by coming to you when you are sad and need the soothing touch.
I believe that lost loved ones can communicate with you through your dreams and in person but I have not yet experienced that.
I see my ex boyfriend all the time in dreams, he comes to me in them to give me comfort, or just to tell me that everything is going to be ok. I treasure the dreams that he comes to me in.
I cant say that I have dreamed of any , BUT. When I was in Labor with my first Son. I was drugged and dont really recall much but others have told me that I was talking to my Great grandmother whom past away when my grandmother was but 17.
Very odd.
for me i havent lost someone to dream of but if it should happen and hop it dont i would love to dream of them....:)
well .... I have only lost a grandmother .... I kept dreaming of her for a while, then she just walked out of my dreams .... it would be awkward to be "haunted by someone you loved and passed away .... I think I`d totally freak out ....
I have personally sen my grandfather . I took a freight train trip this summer all the way to cali from maine . He looked over me the whole time . I know he was there.
I have never seen a dead person in my dreams but this certain someone visited me,it was so real it was as if I could touch her,it was like she was telling me our issues are unresolved and in time after she heals from all the hurt I put her through we might be able to unite again..see she is my soulmate and it was nice.
Many times have I seen dead loved ones in my dreams. My soul seems to float with their soul with no specific purpose other than to spend time with one another.
I, as well have had a loved one pass away and then he came to me in a dream.
I can not recall what the dream was, sadly, it's been long since that dream, and I can not remember.
I don't know why it happened, and still don't. I don't know if it was a message, or what.
i have seen loved ones in my dreams and thought i have seen them just as the sun rises and the light hits the edge of a dark room,
I've never been visited by a lost love one in a dream, but sometimes I dream about them. Memories in dreams more or less.
about 2 weeks after my mother passed on she visited me in my dreams. About 2 days later we had two major earthquakes. It was like a warning.
my grandparnts come to me in and out of my dreams and i fill that if you love some one that has passed then they are still with you triing to help teach you thing
I belive that spirts can speak to loved ones to tell them they are ok and to let them know there is hope on the other side.
i have afriend that visits me when i have an important decesion to make in my life and shows me diffrent options
i have never had this experiance but one day i hope i will but i havent i hope it is as real as can be
Have had many lost loves who reenter into my life within my dreams some even in my nitemares
I also have had my lost loved ones return, sometimes in good dreams sometimes in bad ones. The bad ones usually happen when I am stressed out though.
I had on dreaming encounter that really stuck with me.. One week before I graduated high school, my best friend died of lukemia. A few yrs ago, I had a dream that I was standing on the front porch of a big beautiful house. My friend came out of the house and became very upset when she saw me standing there. She scolded me and told me that I couldn't just show up "there" unexpected and that I needed to go back immediately. I tried to argue and tell her how much I missed her, but I awoke before I could say any more...
I haven't been visited persay but I do dream of my grand daddies a lot.... there are different things that happen during these dreams but in the end I'm always standing over their graves.... they died several years back.... when I was younger.... I don't think it really means anything outside of that I miss them but I'm still working on finding that out.....
My brother came to me in my dreams often after he died, also my grandparents and my uncle. They all just wanted to let me know they were okay.
I did have a dream of my grandfather, but it was disturbing so I'm hoping it was just a dream. I do believe it's possible that it was really him.
My grandfather did that it was scary his eyes glowed red
I have run across a few that have passed while dreaming. Its neither been scary or enlightening. Even if I have come to terms with the lost loved ones I know that it still bothers me in one way or another deep down. I just attribute it to my subconscious grieving.
I do believe in this very much. Although it has never happened to me I know several people it has happened to and they tell of the dream in great detail as if that person were still right there with them. I believe it is a special gift to be able to see those we have lost in our dreams.
I recently dreamed of my mother who passed on recently. It didn't seem like a visit at all more just that she was in my subconcious or just on my mind so to speak and so I dreamed of her.
