"Dedication" on VR has nothing to do with how fast you reach Sire, how pretty your page/stamps are, or how many people you can rate in a day.
That's not the point of VR, this is a Vampire Database. Not a popularity contest.
I am not trying to say it is a popularity contest.
Okay so I missed a few of the other ways to show dedication.

What are your ways of showing your dedication?
I see what you mean Dabbler. There are way too many people that sit and free load. Activity is a vital part of the site. That is why it is a requirement to Rate, View Pages, Spend Time and Post in the Forums.
-blinks- I think the fact I'm still here after almost 3 years is dedication enough.
man, Dabbler is a freak with forum post :) haha.
I find myself pretty damn dedicated. I show the most dedication toward my coven though. We are so close and I love so many of them. Other than that, I'm a profile freak, I love mine :) even though I don't have a PM because I don't have a credit card and yeah... for some reason don't send it by mail. But I still manage to creat a kick-ass profile for being a regular member. I like the forum a lot because there are so many interesting topics that you can really learn off of in them. I do have my own stamp, many of you have probably seen it. I switch it up a lot because for a while there I wasn't so active and was switching covens a lot. But now that I'm dedicated to this coven, I have an awsome stamp that's all flashy and stuff. I don't think a day goes by where I don't spend my house-life on VR. That's all I really do aside from eating cleaning and sleeping when ever I'm at my house.
It is hard to dedicate yourself to one wesite when you belong to many other ones as well like I do. This is not the only site Ilike to go on to, I have 3 other ones that people like to see me on as well so I try to do the best I can in all the ones I belong too.
One can love to be apart of something, but when work, life, and baby's call, you kinda have to go deal with them over VR. Even thhough its an awesome place to meet great people.
I have seen both sides of vr as many other to have. It is cool and good members here (well the most of them). Im here because of the friends i have here and the coven im in. That is what matter.
Being dedicated isn't how much you do...it is what you do while there.
Dedication is all in the eye of the beholder really. But I do agree a bit on the whole profile maintanance bit. Though some individuals do not know html or css to complete those profiles to their entirety. There is a differance between dedication and pride.
As I have said in other posts in the Forum, I am not one to join many Communities; it took some consideration to join VR after reading ThE VR Manual.
I think the way VR is set up is why I ended up joining--it's organized and, unlike most Communities, it's up to you how much fun you get out of it.
I've been here 3 days short of a month and it's taken me that long just to get the total hang of how things are done around here.
I don't think dedication to VR is based solely on how high in the ranks you get or how quickly--it's going above and beyond your usual tasks.
I rate and visit pages every day--I normally visit first the profiles of those who have been nice enough to rate mine and then to welcome the new Members. After that, I usually continue with my rating of the other Members. I also try to make posts in the Forum that are not just one liners to gain posting credit. For fun, I'll play Hangman or answer some of the Polls.
Creating graphics is the best way I can make contributions. I haven't made myself a "Protection Stamp" as of yet, but I have made rating stamps for others when they have asked as well as some graphic adoptables for my Coven.
Hopefully as time goes on, I'll be able to contribute more.
all the things you list arent why im here
this site has tought my many thing mostly that you can find a really good friend any were
I find this site interesting on other people's views. I see many of us are not so different after all.
I do not get drag into drama
My coven of family is wonderful.
i plan on becomming a lifer iam enjoying my premium membership now and i enjoy learning things everyday seeing other peoples views and beliefs being able to interact with others with out judgement and to those who do judge a few choice words would decribe you everyday is a learning exp and life is wonderful no matter how bad it gets ...i feel most people here are open minded and can discuss religions and politics with out the hatered that usally rears its ugly head when these subjects are spoken about ... im very comforable here
I put a lot of effort into my profile, but I don't stay online like I used to I don't have the time.
I don't believe putting a lot of time into your profile makes you a dedicated VR member.
Protection stamps? What purpose do they serve, really? They're a decoration at most.
Rating anything or not doesn't classify you as a dedicated VR member.
Someone who has been a member of VR
for some time now, who follows the rules and ToS and just enjoys the site in general, is a dedicated VR member.
I think showing ones decation is what one adds to vr. Not how fast you can level up or how many profile/data base you can rate in a day. It is not how much stuff you can cram in a profile. I add to mine that is about me and reflect me. And the rates is only your opionion of what you thought of it. Not how many pictures you have on it.
Even thou i think some can not read i swear i could go on with that one lol
Ones love is shown by, i think, by what you bring to vr. Seeing wheather or not your here for the betterment of vr or here to cause trouble.
I bring to vr only my thoughts and a open mind. And a hand in friendship to all that is looking for the same thing. I am not here to feel like i am back in high school. And run with with 'who's the coolest' group. Didn't buy that then, not buying it now lol.
And this is just my thoughts. :)
I think the first thing I did Sir was when I made my protection stamp.... granted they have changed dramatically since then but that was the first show of my dedication. Also recently, taking advantage of my PM and making a rate stamp.
Bones -
Something you had said:
"Someone who has been a member of VR
for some time now, who follows the rules and ToS and just enjoys the site in general, is a dedicated VR member."
That, to me, is just a regular member. Something everyone here should be. A dedicated member is someone who contributes to VR, not just someone who stays on here for years, doing nothing.
I think this is a rather refreshing topic actually.
I may not be the fastest or the most sociable person but I think I have shown dedication to VR in many ways. From writing member articles, helping start up covens and new members, being a nice guy to those who say "howdy" plus I'm pushing 2 years on here.
As I have a habit of saying VR is the internets favorite addiction but more than that I feel VR has a real purpose. In that light I intend on doing what I can.
thesavageant,
My comment was, as opposed to the original posts made by the member posting the thread, which sound more like a rant, but not all inclusive.
well ... lets see here....
been on for nearly 3+ years now... um have helped out with well over 100 profile creations and coding assists, i have made pages for covens i havent even been in.. now i know that i will never beat a bunch of others in what i have done.. but i am very dedicated... i think if you have made the choice to buy a life membership then that is pretty dedicated.. that is all sorts of cool for every one that has done so much... WOOT!! TO ALL...
well i put a lot of effort into my account. i don't know a hell of a lot about HTML but i do my best and think i have a fairly decent profile. that's up to each person to decide, i know, but i do my best to have it pretty cool.
i don't rate everyone a 10 cause that's just not fair to the people who really do put effort into their accounts.
I've been laid off for @ 3 months, so I have too much time too...but when I get a job - soon, I hope - I will most likely limit my time here to about 1-2 hours a night.
so, I'd say that as of right now, I spend too much time here too...LOL! ( no life, no money)...
Again, Dedication is not how much time you placed into your profile aka account.
It is what you added to this site. aka, helping the newbies, member articals, and posting to the forums.
I don't think making protection or rating stamps are of much importance than just making yourself seen among the other profiles. Its like an advertisement of sorts. In this part I can agree with bones that they really are no more than decoration. It doesn't prove anything, as far as I can tell, as to how dedicated to using Vampire Rave you really are. Making a difference on the site, to do something for the entire betterment of the VR community is what it means to be dedicated.
Besides, does it really matter? after all, this is just a web site to talk to like-minded people with similar interests, and shouldn't hold sway over everyone's lives like it seems to do at times. I am here simply for my own enjoyment. Not for anyone else.
I agree. If you really insist on being truly "dedicated" to VR, good for you. If that is the case, you should probably apply to Cancer for an administrator position, but good luck with that because it is very unlikely to happen. I am here for me, for my own enjoyment. Not to make everybody else happy.
i am here for my own enjoyment. and if people want to make this there whole life well then holy crap do i feel bad for that person. i mean even cancer who made VR has a life outside of VR
I went through a bad patch with my divorce and VR was here for me.
I also like to argue and have to apologies a lot lol
I love VR and im also annoyed by the ignorance to vampires beliefs
my first profile was called Robin and the coven master robin3 ( at the time it was her username) had induct me into her coven, my bf at the time was upset and commanded me to delete and start over so I would be in his, that was in 2005, then I restarted with Jakyna after I hit a certain level ( dont remember which it was and not relevant) I changeds to CryingMist as I was inspire by a place where my mom live, there is a mist at night, that is so beautiful and looks like it cry over the 2 lake she has.
So then after I hit Sire I got my lifetime I give away a premium every month to a random person or a person that deserve it, so far I rates 96% of everything ( I cant find the misisng ones)
And I have pass over 300 days vr, I get on at work and at home. We even have 3 computers to make sure we can all get on at home, my daughter and my best friend they all have premium
I re do my profile every 2 months or so and I mean totally re do from a-z.
I have my own stamp. I am on over 200 ppl's list. I run my own coven I am also an acolyte.
So I am not sure but I think I am dedicated....what do you think?
Ok, I like to rate; I have a protection stamp that I think is pretty cool; I have limited knowledge of html, but I try to learn new things all the time; I try to participate as much as I can; I am not a forum whore, lol, but I try to post when I feel I can add something to a post...so, I am at least dedicated enough to have purchased a premium membership and get on here as often as I can. I am here to learn and to have fun. I do like leveling up, but I wouldn't say I am trying to make Sire soon or anything. I think I do pretty well for a computer illiterate old hag. LOL
I think I'm pretty dedicated. I've been here over a year now, and still love it. I don't have a rate stamp, only because I don't like them. I do try to level up, it just doesn't happen. I get on pretty much everyday. That's dedication, right?
ive been here going on 3yrs because i like vampire stuff! i enjoy talking to people that i do talk with. . .i dont own a computer but go to a library for the time i can get then the rest is on my phone. . .i have a stamp and do have a protection stamp which aint dedication its just a simple way of getting out of commenting and a pic for ppl i call friends. . . .my biggest dedication is to LBO for understanding and excepting i dont have a comp. to donate my life to. . .i do interviews with bands and artists for 2yrs and many of the rave dont care. . .i dont care how my level rises cuz i like my house and ppl in it. . . .
Well, I am here everyday almost all day so I would say I am pretty dedicated.
I've been on VR almost a year now... this isn't my first profile. I have my own coven that I love. I offer help to new members or any other member that asks for it. I've also showed my dedication by buying a lifetime membership. And I can't forget the good friends that I have made here, which makes it all worth while.
-chuckles- Would the fact I own five accounts make me dedicated too? ;]
I joined VR in April of this year. After the second month here, I decided a premi-membership would be a great way to support this site. Im here for a year - isnt that dedication?
I have invested a lot of time educating myself about this website, taking online tutorials for HTML, advice from other members, and reading the VR Manual regularly. Any spare time I have on my hands is spent here. This site is addictive and the people are interesting.
I enjoy the interaction between our fellow ravers and only recently began posting into the forum. The community here is welcoming (well most of you) and I have learnt soo much already, I feel privalledged to be apart of it. I cant forget the friendships I have formed here either.
If something comes up,I do what I can to contribute. On any level.
I believe Dedication is not the right word, it is clearly an understatement. The right word is Love. I am in Love with Vampire Rave.
I am very dedicated to VR. I started my profile on 4/23/2007 since then I think its only been about 3 -5 days that i was not able to get on VR. Since then I have made sire and started my coven.
As far as stamps go yes I have a rate stamp matter of fact I change the rate stamp to match my current situation (being status, coven, etc). I also have a protection tag which also changes from time to time.
I dont go to any other sites anymore they are boring compared to VR
I am very dedicated to VR, this is where I met the love of my life so I owe alot to the creator of this site! I work constantly on my levels. I used to have a rating stamp and a bite stamp but I prefer to write something more personal on people's profiles instead of just passing a stamp. My profile used to have background work on it too, but it was deleted by accident and Im not high-tech enough to figure out how to fix it, (tried and everything was deleted lol)
I was brought here by a friend who has since left, I have stayed over 2 years I met my husband on here I've made so many friends on here, I've got a premium membership, I update my pro when I can and I've worked hard on it. All those images are my own or my husbands, I have my own rate stamp I'm working on a protection stamp of my own I just need to find the best image for it ( my own photography of course) I rate and re-rate everyone who has rated me!
I enjoy playing in the Sandbox and posting to the other forums I am in a coven which I am very proud of! I get on when I can!
But, Having a husband who is obsessed with reaching sire and having only one computer beween us, it is often a battle to get the computer for an hour As well as having a young baby to look after! I do what I can when I can!
I kno im only a free member but im on here as much as i can, rating people, profiles, portfolio's and everything else
well I feel I am very dedicated considering I have been here since the beginning '04 even with multiple profiles that had been deleted tampered with etc. LOL I am still a strong lover of VR I support the site 100% in everything that they do.
I am on every chance I get to post talk etc. to people on here, I have met many in the real world as well and I feel it is the most organised site on the internet. just my dedication and love for it. I have helped many get premiums and to me that is a great way to support and show dedication to the site.
I guess we all show our dedication in many ways that we feel are right and expressive enough to our selves and abilities.
Must say though thos pages full of slow loading music or multiple songs playing at same time or the endless sparkling and worse images you have to scroll through for 10 mins just to get to the rate n then it jumps as another 200 images loads….. dedication turns to obsessive disorder. Lol
Some of us *cough, cough* have numerous T-shirts from the store already *blush*
Dedication for me is not what someone can do, but what they do. I will not compare myself to what some others have done, as it has been out of the means of my personal life. Nor should what I do be compared to another. Each of us has our ways of dedication.
Buying a PM to make certain this site grows is one way, submitting articles or items to the database is another. Over all each of us that does what we can, is contributing to the Dark Network, some more than others, it is true. Still being here grows the site and grows the sites potential.
Personally I dislike this type of topic because it quickly becomes a bragging thread instead of thought driven. You could say that it is because I have not given as much to VR, or that my priorities are different. Still it does not change that each one of us, by continually logging in shows dedication. That action alone is the only one that counts in my opinion.
I also feel that each of us do what we feel is dedication to VR and no one should be measured by what or what not they do yet I feel the majority of members are very dedicated.
I am just here for fun not Dedicated I just put up my peoms and rate when I can becuse I like looking at other peoples profile. But realy just like working on my profile adding to it as I grow as a person.
I think that anyone who manages to get past the point of creating a profile, putting a line on it then promptly forgetting to ever log in again can be classed as dedicated :-)
well lets just say i made it to sire on my plz account in 5months and started this one about 5 months ago so i think i am pretty Dedicated
Very. All the friends that I made thanks to this site, are many. To be member of a wonderful coven, The Coven Of Mystical Darkness, where, everybody is so friendly, well, my friend, my dedication to this site is...100%
I love vr, and all my friends here.. Wouldnt change them for the world.. Do anything I can to help them..
I believe everyone has their own idea of what dedication means to them and what they are able to do.
To me I am dedicated to VR by helping out friends and newbies with their profiles or answering questions they may have about the site and of course my wonderful coven family as I love them all..they are an awesome bunch!
I also like posting to the forums in which I feel that I can make a contribution to and I do not bash anyone for not believing as I do as we all believe differently and respect those who feel the same and not belittle someone because they do not agree with them.
VR has been a saving grace for me in times when I felt alone as most here are very open minded and non judemental..this is my home away from home and I love it here!
I'm dedicated in that...with a career and on-call and a two year old son and a husband and four horses...I still try to make time, even if it's just an hour a week, to log on a rate around a little...
I think that's pretty dedicated. I know I'm not on as much as some people are..but sheesh...I try hehe
Like many people I do what I can when I can.
I enjoy being here but I have other things to do with my time too lol
After getting to Sire, I have more time to have fun, especially in my Coven. I also have a lifetime membership, which I think shows dedication. I do have a protection stamp, which a good friend made for me. I also rate 10's to almost everybody. unless the profile says derogatory things about people here on VR. I participate whenever possible, and am happy for a place to "hang out!"

I show my dedication through my work with the covens. I've been in a few and I'm really only in them to help level them up.. I'm not a high enough level to make my own and there are too many already to make another one anyway... So I just help out whoever I can, when I can. =^_^= I'm very competitive... lol
Like many others I have the rating, protection and bite stamps and work on my profile and go through the motions. On occasion I will purchase pm accounts for those worthy and there is not a day that goes by that I don't log on, I am usually lurking hehe.....
But true dedication to me is by using the site to gain the knowledge I came here for in the first place, participating in the discussions, giving back what you can. Not just as a social scene but the sharing of thoughts and ideas. A place to learn.
I am so dedicated to VR that I:
-Pick out all of the letters except V and R in alphabet soup.
-Have my entire body tattooed black, red, and white.
-Happily endure the strange looks I get in public when I wear my, “I (heart) Cancer t-shirt.
-List VR members, by screen names, as job references.
-Have a little shrine set up with printed off pictures of Cancer and sandalwood scented Yankee candles that I pray to when I need help overcoming my enemies or when I am mad at my dog.
-Have effigies of all of the Master Vampires that I set into a circle and conduct meetings with when I have questions VR acolytes can’t answer. (It’s because people are so far away and I don’t want to be a bother, naturally.)
-Wash and ritually purify myself before entering the sacred site known as VR.
-Only shed a single tear when I cry so that I look as gothic as is possible.
-Left my mother in the hospital an extra day because so many people I knew were finally on VR at the same time.
-Am considering naming my first girl child Imagesinwords.
-Was fired from my last job because my boss didn’t understand the need to level up from 27 to 28 while there was the window where I wasn’t losing any posts.
-Have trained my dog to attack when any site besides VR is accessed from my computer.
-I got a blackberry so I could even be on VR when in the bathroom.
Are there prizes for this?
that is great Sevenn..... no prizes
i am glad to see so many posts in this, a lot of different views as usual... awesome
I have been here for 2 1/2 years and I feel that I am dedicated enough...I have stamps, bites and all that but am NOT premium member...my goal here is show that a nonPM profile can be just as good as PM profile. I am here to learn and meet interesting people...not to win a popularity contest. My coven is paramount to my dedication.
I am so dedicated and in love with VR that I do not need to list the things I have done, the money I have put in, or the hours of donated time I have given simply because the satisfaction of being a part of the team is enough to keep me smiling when I think of this place.
well I feel just being on here and active shows ones dedication to the VR Site.. so far I love the place...
TheSavagaent is right. Being dedicated to VR has nothing to do with leveling up or prettying up your pages.
Now I admit I spent alot of time on my profile and portfolio. I am all the time changing it. I try to give people glimpses of the real me, but still that is not what VR is about.
I contribute to the database, which is what this site was for to begin with - meaning I send suggestions to be added to the database as well. I have written an article for the site, and I am here every day sometimes all day long, even while I am at work. I am an acolyte, so I help that way as well. I am also a details master, forum master and scribe for one of the AHMs of my House as well as the head of the Host and Prespects Program within it. I am about to hit my 2 year anniversary on the 24th of this month, so I would say I am VERY dedicated.
I have also contributed money wise to this site as well, buy paying for premium memberships for some of the other members and buying from the VR store.
I joined this site purely by accident, and have been addicted ever since. Its a very tight knitted community....everyone knows everyone else by a few people at least. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't log on at least once....I have made friendships on here that Iam sure I will have for a lifetime.
You all are wonderful.
My way of being dedicated to vr is getting my pm each year.
And CryingMist, i never demaned you delete your profile because you have the almost same username then i lol
I was intreged that great minds worked alike lol
well im still here after a year, i still continue to get my pm and i took over my coven rather then se it get disbanded. i say thats pretty dedicated at least for me since real life tends to get it the way of my VR time. i swear sometime the kids just need to understand the need to be in here posting in threads, chatting and taking care of coven things. lol just kidding,
I dedicate myself to vr a lot...like almost everyday if not every day....rateing and reading profiles is very important to me.
i like the polls atlot and in the sandboxeven i like the induction into the houses and covens so you can say im pretty dedicated to VR
lol Sevenn I think that's beyond being dedicated lol :p
Well I'm still here after 2 years have 3 profiles come here everyday and stay for hours on end I have no life lol
But as for my profile I threw that together in like 5 minutes I really don't care how it looks or what rate I get lol
I think conducting yourself in a civil manner is dedication enough. Paying for a PM is a nice gesture and has its bonus' but I wont be going out of my way for this site, or any other, unless I feel like it.
i didn't know it was a game... i log on when i can to meet new people and read others journals, just to evolve and peek into others lives... i love the people here
I don't see how making Protection Stamps and having pretty pics on ones profile classes one as being "dedicated" to VR
I've seen many cool and interesting profiles that haven't had many or any pics.
Since when did beautifying a profile & creating stamps show ones dedication to a website?
I think some think that doing ones profile does quafiy of showing you care.....lol where idk lolol
I took it as if your dedicated to vr one would be active in the forums.... Makeing since in your posts, don't be a idiot....lol Don't be a trouble maker and cause drama.
And add to things that you know about. aka share your knowlege.
Add to the member articals. If there is something that gets added to it that hasn't been done before.
That kind of stuff.
So am i the only one who thinks this way???
I have written 2 articles, and have rated the whole database.
I love making polls, but am not poll happy.
I have started my own Coven that has a certain purpose to the site itself, but is now on hold.
I love this site. I think it is amazing!
Everyone seems to be learning from each other.
Sharing knowledge is key to finding ones self.
I don't think Im that dedicated.
I know like what it's all about and stuff.
But I really only get on here to see my friends that are here.
I don't care about leveling up and all that other stuff.
I also don't care about talking to new people.
I've been on here since 2005, an i'm sad to say i'm only level 16. I did in the begining not care that much about VR. I was in a coven but I just wasn't ready to be dedicated. But in the past 4 months, I have joined a new coven, gone up 4 levels, become a premium member, made a rate stamp, a protection stamp, got a background for my profile and actually put what was happeing in my life. I also put up all my current poetry on my journel and earned over 1700 favor for my coven. I'd say i'm pretty dedicated. In another 4 months, I hope to double my efforts.
Probably should have titled this, Obsessed and Addicted. Dedicated was the wrong word. Oh well, no sense crying over spilled milk (unless it is in your lap)
As far as Coven favor:
Favor earned: 6241.546
That is a shit load, only person that has more is the Coven Master
Ok yes I am not dedicated though I am obsessed. I love it here and I love the people I have become to know. This is my second account as my first got deleted, crashed or something. I have been here for over a year including my last account that I unfortunately lost.
The Forum is a dedication to me and not only because of my Status, as for the rest, I don't do much, all I want is to relax and ''escape'' from reality.
By being logged in I feel I am already contributing.
i'm generally quiet around here,
my forum posts are always low and i don't have many people i'd call friends
i love the database and browse it often and make recommendations when i find things
hopefully i can experience the benefits of the rave beyond the database, so perhaps i will find something else to feel dedicated to
I have been here for a little over a year and a half now and so that for me tells me I am dedicated to this website and such.

Reading all the post to this about all the people brag about time spent, how long to make Sire, money given to it, articles, database, active on the site.
And I just asked myself what I do for the site and came up with- I have kept my mouth/ fingers still when all I wanted to do was cuss some of these mother puckers stupid children (Of all ages) out.
:) I don't let the bad drag down the site I love- I don't give them the power over the site, or me.
I LOVE everything about VR the people the profiles the forum the covens the houses just everything.. I do as much as I can when I'm on the site even with my crappy dial up.
