I am an avid ghost hunter and urban explorer, as some of you might know. There are places online to find sites to explore, in every area of the world.

I would like to know of places you have knowledge of in your area, or state, or where you know of some. I am wanting to know how close these places are to myself and others that are also interested in the hobby/cause of investigating the unknown/paranormal.

This could include old asylums, hospitals, schools, buildings in general and cemeteries.

well in pueblo colorado, there is an old asylum near 12th street where i used to live. some friends and i had went into it during the middle of a hot summer day, and the first steps in there, you could just feel the tension and energies. now i mention it was a hot summer day for one reason, this huge 3 story brick building, was ice cold! it was also apparent that in one room on the... i think second floor, somone had done some type of occult ritual. very weird uncomfortable place.

in monocure (im not sure how its spelled it near pitsboro) north carolina, there is a cemetary and a church my grandmother used to attend this church until one day at a session the lights flickered on and off and demonic screams sound from inside the church, since then my grandmother has stopped attending that church and many others but im not sure that its abandoned but my uncle told me at 12 at night in the cemetary behind the church a spirit rises, my cousin and i were suppose to go check it out however she fell asleep before we could go >.>

also that area there are many ghost stories that my great grandmother and grandmother would tell. there use to be a house it was big for the area had 2 stories (houses in that area are quite small) my grandmother would pick blackberries near the house and once from around a bush she heard running water and she thought it was coming from the house so she walk closer to the house circling it to make sure that there was not wasted water but it was dry. she was leaving when she heard a piano playing from inside the house. the house was torn down but the grounds havent been messed with there is another "haunted house" in the area but i havent really heard to many stories about it

there are many other stories just message me if its near where you live and you wish to hear them

grand island has the ghost at the holiday in, many people have spotted her or heard her laughing

Lockport and Lewiston also have some good reports

I believe places like asylums or abandoned hospitals are more likely a place for ghosts to appear. Places where people has a strong emotional attachment to. Not necessarily a good place, but no bad.

Here in Vincennes Indiana...the best places to ghost hunt are the Purple Head bridge (named so because during slave holding times, slaves sentenced to death were hanged from the underside of this bridge...many of those hanged there were innocent and seem to still "hang around" the area)
and the Sigma Pi fraternity meeting house (the first owner and Pi coordinator for the area eventually killed himself and his wife within the sprawling mansion because of financial issues).

Upon doing some research, there's a bridge near the creepy cemetery that supposedly is haunted, the story is that a man caught his wife cheating and hanged her and her lover off the bridge. Apparently, on some nights a white car appears and will follow. This white car story is also associated with the cemetery.

Another thing about this cemetery is that Satanic rituals have been known to occur there on numerous occasions.

I would say Brookdale Lodge, in Santa Cruz California but I would not recommend it with the current condition of the once gem of a Bed and Breakfast. I suggest people do the historical china bunker tours of Washintons Puget Sound area. Or even the Wincester Mystery house.

sorta sounds like a legend of the Bunny man bridge. I for get the state that has it.But the bridge has so much activity that it even has video cameras at both ends. But not in side the tunnel which is freaky enough that out side is covered but the body's of rabbits and animals are all ways found mutilated in side and legend has it that some teenagers were found there as well. That's why they put up the cameras.

Ok found it The Bunny Man Bridge
of Clifton Virginia

Some of the story

The Bunny Man Bridge Story
The tale of the Bunny Man goes back many many years. It originally began in 1931, after many murders had already been committed. For verification of the story, you can visit the "Old Clifton Library" located in Clifton, Northern Virginia, USA. What we are about to tell you is entirely true, although we've never seen the Bunny Man, or visited the location. Everyone who lives in Clifton, Northern Virginia believes it to be true.

in the Texarkana Texas area i've heard that Spring Lake Park is haunted
years ago a teenage couple were murdered in the park.
i've heard that the girl was tied to a tree and stabbed to death, and if you stand by a certain tree, you can feel as if a rope is being tied around you.
however, no one has ever been able to tell me which tree it is so i have no idea if it's true

incidentally, the murder story was made into a film called "the town that dreaded sundown"

I was born and raised In Utah and there are many stories to be told One of my most favorite.I have been to the site and have actually witnessed the lady in the wedding gown.

Bridal Veil Falls:

There are hundreds of stories to the legend of a ghost bride at the falls. Here is a popular one.

In the late 30's a woman was driving from Ogden to Huntsville. She was going to be late for her wedding. It was the early morning and still somewhat dark. She was driving too fast and drove off the road. All they found was a bridal veil floating in the water. If you drive up the canyon to Huntsville in the early morning you might see a hitchhiker dressed in a white dress. Some people who have stopped claim that the woman says she is late for her wedding and upon reaching Huntsville limits vanishes from the car.
Site for informaion on the rest of haunted utah areas someothers i have been to as well.

There is a hotel in Jefferson, Texas called The Excelsior House supposed to be haunted by a headless man on the second floor as well as a woman in black who has a baby. The woman is supposed to have actually appeared and frightened some of the guests including the famous director Stephen Spielberg.

A cemetery in Kilgore Danville Cemetery has the grave of Karen Silkwood who was supposed to have been murdered to keep her quiet about radiation problems at her job; her grave is supposed to glow green at night.

Where I live in Idaho we have a Theatre that is haunted according to some of my friends that perform there. Now this theatre used to be a church and many have claimed seeing a woman dressed as a bride wandering through the seats weeping. The floorboards creak where no one is, the chandeleir spins, doors open and close. Now I have attended many plays there but its the basement where we go to have refreshments that gives me the creeps. No one has ever been harmed they say but it has a feeling of sadness to it.

These are some great places. I have heard of some and some I have not. I will be looking up the Bunny Man video cam and see if I can find it online!

When we were coming back from New Orleans for the Rave meet, I had wanted to go to the Myrtles plantation and check it out, but we didn't have time. =( I had wanted to stay the night but it was wayyyyyyyyy to expensive for us to stay there after our trip to NO.

I am in Oklahoma and hoping to find some new places to check out. I would like to check out the Alamo.

I have been into the paranormal since I was quite young. It started in the house that I grew up in that was haunted. It seemed to affect me the most. Maybe because I was so young and all the ghost/otherworldly visitors in the house.

There's a very large cemetary in Indianapolis, IN, where a lot of old decrepid orphanages are haunted as well as the cemetary.

What happened was that, however many years ago, there was a plague that wiped out a bunch of people and many got sick because of it. That's where all the orphans came in.

Also, some thought to add certain chemicals and watnot to baby's milk thinking it would help them heal and become healthy, which actually killed them.

It is said you can hear infants Indianapolis hauntings on Google.

sorry for some reason my last paragraph got butchered when i hit post.

what i meant to say was that supposedly you can hear infants crying at night in the orphanages. the buildings have been closed down for years but if you walk by them at night you can hear the wails of dying infants.

i also meant that you can google this story under either Indianapolis hauntings or Indianapolis cemetary hauntings. Either way you'll find what you need.

I also found another interesting story of a haunting in IN. It's the first recorded haunting in the state of IN.

Here's the link:

I live in a small town outside of Chicago, in LaPorte, In. One of the most famous female serial killers lived here, Belle Guinness. She would place ads in newspapers all over the country for a mate to help her run her farm. The men would then come, marry her, and she would poison them and collect their life insurance. She killed over 12 husbands. Then killed her 3 daughters, and set her farm on fire, leaving the corpse of a female her age along with them. A woman was arrested about 40 years later in CA. Supposeldly being Belle Guinness. She died before her trial.

HBO actually did a show on her.

There was one man who escaped Belles poisioning, she would inject arsenic into the oranges...he didn't like oranges.

They found the remains in the pig pen...apparently she had been feeding her dead hubbies to the pigs.

This is the most accurate story I've found, and it reiterates everything I've heard from the "oldtimers" in this area. Its pretty creepy, and a good read. If you have the time.

I have been to Colorado many times. I love that place. It seems like we are always going for particular reasons, generally and don't get a chance to ghost hunt. I have looked up some haunts in Colorado, but many are like in city buildings downtown Denver, places like that. I am interested in easier access, more older places to explore. ;)

My home town of San Diego, California is full of areas of hauntings... famous ones are the Whaley House in Old Town - where I had my own experience as a child -

The Hotel Del Coronado, the Horton Grand, as well as other spots through out the city.

I'm currently living in Anaheim, the home of Disneyland - that place in itself, is very haunted and have had my own experiences there as well.

In Hollywood, there are cemetaries, hotels, restaurants, and areas that have other places built on them that are haunted.

Awesome thread!

Michigan. between Bronson and Sturgis MI on US- 27.

Old insane asylum closed down because of patient abuse. When it was raided they found over 50 patients had been given a lebatomy. (dunno if I spelled that correctly) Closed down immediately and most of the staff arrested. Now believe it or not an elderly couple live their. It is said to be haunted.

Outside Constantine Michigan an area od land called "Purgatory." Al Capones mistresses house is out their. I was in it once, it has since burned down because of a meth lab. The achres of land have a history of murder, torture, (ETC) In the late 1800's the KKK would hang people out their. There are rumors of devil worship and child sacrifice out their. And their has also been a slur of dead bodies found out their. It is just a great big area of land with dirt roads...and a few houses but very spread out. it was noted as the 9th scariest place in the world. I used to go out their with my friends and get high all the time during my stomping days.

Oceanne, is right about the places in Charleston, SC. Specially the down town area were the market was at one time. Charleston also has a tour that you can go on to see most of the places. I have been on part of the tour but not the whole thing. Its awesome.

There are a few here in Spartanburg, SC. The main one that I would recommend here and its not really advertised is the Cowpens Battle Field. There are a few cemetaries but that is basically it.

I am an investigator as well, mostely in my spare time, here in AL there are many reportedly haunted places as well, as a student at Jacksonville State Unversity I know of one area just around the corner from here called Dump Road, reported to be haunted by the spirts of an indian tribe, soldiers and a runaway slave that was hung on near the area and the group that chased him.

Jamie without knowing exactly where you are in OK I can't tell you exactly how far this is from you but I can give you a pretty good reference point. From the OK line bordering MO at I-44 Evansville IN is about 450mi away by way of I-44, I-55, I-64 then US-41. Once in Evansville IN the place to go is Willard Public Library. The building is the oldest public library building in the state at over 110yrs old. There have been numerous ghost sightings there. If you don't want to physically travel there, there are several websites that have information about it just do a yahoo search for Willard library ghost (I got over 600,000 hits). There are even sites with live ghost cams and some have collected pictures and videos you can examine. Here is a link to 1 of the live ghost cam sites "http://www.willardghost.com/index.php?content=ghostcams". If you do decide to travel there you could also take a relatively small detour and go through Harrisburg IL there is an old slave house near there that is supposed to be haunted too. Unfortunately I don't have near the info on the slave house.

if you are ever in the Sacramento Ca area, i've always heard that underneath Old Sac is an even older Sac that you can reach through tunnels. the town was completely built over due to rising river levels. i for one have never been down there, but if the stories people i know have told have any bit of truth to them i don't want to. it's supposedly haunted by not so nice beings.

The Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul
Here's the story

Another of Minnesota's haunted theaters is the Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul. If every good theater is supposed to have a ghost.... the staff at this theater would be happy to donate their resident spirit to another theater who doesn't have their own.

The haunting began in 1985 when the theater underwent some renovations. The removal of a false ceiling revealed that the theater had an additional balcony that no one knew about and it also uncovered a note to an old stagehand named Ben. It is this former stagehand who is believed to be the ghost that haunts the place... but who he really is remains a mystery.

Once the renovations started, so did the strange events. People in the theater began to experience inexplicable cold spots and started getting glimpses of a dark figure walking around. Puzzled stage set workers started discovering that their tools were moved around or missing and strangely, antique bottle of muscatel, which were always empty, started appearing mysteriously in unlikely places.

Many believe that the construction on the building has awakened the dormant spirit of an old stagehand. While "Ben", as the staff has nicknamed him, is not usually harmful or dangerous, one incident has staff members wishing that perhaps he would move on to the next world.

Two theater workers were walking in a work area backstage . They were no lights , so they were guided by flashlights only. Suddenly, a large chunk of ceiling plaster fell to the stage between them, narrowly missing both of their heads. They quickly directed their flashlights upward and saw a hazy figure moving in the catwalks, about 60 feet above. The figure abruptly vanished.

What makes this experience especially strange is that the ceiling in the theater is not made from plaster.... no one has any idea where the chunk of material may have come from. Theater workers also say that Ben is now alone in the building. While she has never been seen, there is also a ghost here named "Veronica" who is believed to be an actress who died many years ago. She makes her presence known by singing... which many staff members have heard echoing in the auditorium at night.

The Fitzgerald Theater is located in downtown St. Paul.

In Chickamauga Georgia, there is always the battle field, I go out there at night alot and have seen alot of different things. Its a really creepy, dark, and spiritual place. Alot of men lost their lives there, so how could it not have some kind of activity. I have heard gun shots, like battle fire.....have seen lights like its coming from a lantern, it was swaying back and forth. But now lantern or no one was there. You can hear horses coming near you, they have a tower on the battle field. I have climbed to the top after dark even though you are not supposed to and then on the way down felt like I was being chased. Also when I got to the bottom of the tower and looked up there was someone standing on the top of the tower. This battle field is full of activity, plus you can just feel the cold chills and creepy feelings from the time you go into the battle field until the time you leave.

In my town there is an old opera house. Over 150 years old if I remember correcrly. I performed a play there when i was younger and the building is so scary! painted glass and such everywhere. it has been fairly well taken care of over the years. beautiful but scary...and dark. There is a story behind it...here goes

A few years after it was built. there was a play being performed there. A fire broke loose because one of the props which involved flames caught. And became out of control. It killed 3 of the actors, one of which was married to the woman watching in the balcony. When she jumped off to help her lover she hit her head on the piano and broke her neck. I have not researced this. Completely word of mouth. Just what the owner had told us was in the docs when he bought the place. I do know that Abraham lincoln and Michey Rooney have both been to this theatre. if you are curious message me and i will tell you where it is. it is near my home town so I don'y want to divulge its name in the forums.

I live in VA, and there at alot of places that have spirits and stuff. Almost all of the houses I've lived in have spirits in it, weather they followed me or not.

I was at my friend's house a few weeks ago and her father and I went out to the woods where an old house once stood. Well pieces of the foundation was still there and stood in a prefect circle, five piece made up that circle as well. There was alot of energy there. My hands wouldn't stop burning. The house burned down, so that's a good reason for my hand burning. I would look around the woods and kept seeing alittle girl wondering around us. I'm not totally sure what she wanted but she was kind and genle, didn't mean to harm to no body. Though once you stepped outside the circle the part closest to my friend's house and the energy just had such a bad feel to it that it kinda freaked me out......but there are alot more places that just this one.

So here in MT we have Banff, which is actually more on the Canada side of the border.

We also have Chico Hot Springs which has a very well documented ghost seen by people who I would never expect to admit to seeing something paranormal. I haven't seen it, but then I've never seen a ghost, in fact nobody ever sees one when I'm around at all. I've been told that it's because I have a firm block towards being bothered by such things. I don't know...

Anyway there is also The Ellen Theatre

Virginia City

Custers Battle Field

The old state children's home where they made all the orphans and Native American kids go and a few others, I can't recall off the top of my head, but if you're really interested drop me a line and I'll get more specific.

I see your point, but it's actually the main lodge and the old main house. There's a room in particular she supposedly haunts in the main lodge and supposedly she's been seen in the kitchens and where the piano used to be.

Both place are no where near the steam.

Again I haven't seen her and I've spent a lot of time there so I don't know what to think about it all.

Here's a quick blurb I found on line -

"In May 1986, two night watchmen at this resort hotel came upon the nebulous form of a young woman hovering near a piano in the third floor Lounge. Only the upper body of the white ghost appeared, the rest tailed down to nothing. The face of the peaceful apparition stared right at them for several minutes, enough time for one of the guards to grab a camera from a nearby table and snap a photograph. Only a tiny white spot on the film showed up where the ghost had stood. The same apparition had been seen by guests several times in the past, but this was the first time the Lady in White was photographed. In 1990, two other security guards followed the Lady in White from Lobby to the hallway leading to Room 349, where the presence has been reported by many employees and guests. An antique rocker in the room always ends up facing a window, no matter in which room it is placed.

Other unexplainable things happening include an old family Bible that stays open on a wooden bench in the Attic and never collects any dust. The most likely cause for all the activity would be Percie Knowles, the stubborn wife of the man who built the hotel in 1900. After her husband's 1910 demise, she changed it into a first-class healthcare center. She died in 1941, but her resilient spirit lives on."

There is accually a group in Australia that call themselves the AGHS (Australian Ghost Hunters Society. They have been around since 1997. They tend to investigate ghost sitings here in Aus. I have just found their sight on the web and looks interesting.

There is a small city called Brandon, in the Province of Manitoba, Canada that has an old asylum that has now been converted into a local college. Several students and care takers have interesting stories about supernatural experiences they've had. A couple of movies sets have been shot there.

The old jails in Bozeman, MT and Virginia City, MT are frequently reported to be haunted. I've been to both and I've neither seen or felt anything, then again, maybe I'm just not attuned to such things.
