My thanks to LostSiren for finding and posting this elsewhere...

Archeologists have discovered a giant Pyramid near Sarajevo, Bosnia.

The news report

The official website

What may be in there, is open to guesswork, but whatever they contain, will be worth seeing.

This also opens the question of how many other lost temples, pyramids and ancient structures remain buried under modern industrialised Europe, the world even.

Amazing stuff. And Capitalism is already starting.

VISOKO, Bosnia-Herzegovina - Restaurants serving meals in triangle-shaped plates. Artisans crafting wooden key-chains in the shape of pyramids. Shopkeepers hawking T-shirts saying "I have a pyramid in my backyard."

And so far, all they found where sloping rocks that might form a pyramid. Can't wait to see it unearthed.

Seems that they have discovered another two, much smaller structures nearby, likely connected.

Kinda reminds me of that "Young Sherlock Holmes" movie...lol

Come on, wouldn't you exploit the worlds largest pyramid if it was discovered a short walk down the road?

I would have to think hard about it...

hmm I doubt that too, cause i dont think they would have had any interest in doing it. From what i know, their main interested was to survive.

Do you know Erich von Däniken? He would say, that it is possible that aliens build them ;)

What i like about von Dänikens theories and the way he brings it over is, he never says, 'it is like that'. He always says 'there is a posibility that'. In the end you have to know yourself what you believe :) but to be honest, i find his theories far more possible, then whats written in the bible (no offense to the bible believers).

I actually think that his ideas could marry with the Old Testament if one doesn't take it literally in the creation story.

Taken figuratively, one could surmise that it is a metaphor for the terraforming of this planet.

But of course, I don't wish to disavow the hand of G*d in our existence, so I don't place too much stock in that idea.

well lets see...aliens helped build the pyramids....so they are probably in more places then just the desserts of Egypt...lol

Think about this....they don't know how the pyramids were built yet they have theories...but modern machines cant supposedly build the structures...and the rumors of past civilizations MORE ADVANCED than ours is now.......

check out Zecharia Sitchin's theories in his books starting with the 12th planet..

I don't think it would be limited to Egypt, there's much to learn from pre-hedonic times...

Ancient indian cultures *mayan, aztec, inca* had temples that were shaped similar to pyramids. It's a great shape for a temple if you think about it.

I would like to see more concrete stuff before I get any concrete thoughts on this. Might just be a coinsidence, looks too big to be a hoax. There have been a rash of hoaxes in the last few years, lots of people are interested in finding something they can't explain. I feel the same way, why be fascinated with things that we are familiar with?

Billy always has great comments. I'm glad Bosnia can bank off of this hype. Might help out their economy a little. I'm just waiting dor Disney's negotiations with Bosnia.

That’s really great! I have to say that I’m not the least bit surprised, though. I firmly believe that there was a large civilization that pre-dates those we’re aware of. I believe that there were two characteristic structures of this “pre-society”-- pyramids, and tunnels. I think this original society spawned, and therefore influenced, those ancient societies we know of. I believe these aren’t the last ancient pyramids to be discovered.

Kat--Good call on Daniken. I have pretty much the whole “…of the gods” series. lol Myrrhkuri-- Sitchin has some fascinating stuff too. I think some of Sitchin’s translations are suspect, but his theories are interesting, nonetheless. (by the way, if you read “Gold of the Gods” by Daniken, you’ll see just one example of the tunnels I mention.)

STABB-- Had you considered the possibility that the “extra-terrestrials” in question might actually be “extra-dimensional?” Perhaps there are beings that can literally come from another plane into this one. A manifestation of divine intelligence? Or, if you really want to get technical….if god created you, and you were able to create life, then the life you created would be “of god.” (in a roundabout kind of way) Just thought I’d throw that out there.

didnt read all posts but some background for all of you..

its not proven yet that what the hill is a pyramid although the hill is very symmetric and the chances are not bad that it really might be a pyramid.

it has nothing to do with a big civilization or something like that.. the ilirians who would have built the pyramid believed in the moon, the stars and the sun, they worshiped them and a pyramid that points towards a star would be the perfect way to show it. Though the reason for building the pyramid wouldnt been confirmed yet either..

the albanian ppl are the decendents from the ilirians. till the roman empire conquered the area the ppl have been called ilirian. one theorie says that the romans gave them the name albani because the word albanus means white in latin and the albanian ppl wore mostly white cloths with some black spots on it. another theory says that the ilirians get the name albanian from a greek scientist that lived in egypt. his name was ptolomäus (he was the one who invented the theory about the flat world for the church) ptolomäus gave the ilirians the name albanoi what means the white ppl.

the ilirians have always lived on the balkan (thats the south eastern part of europe) even in the greek mythology its proved that they have lived there and that they had a civilized culture as they always was a free ppl and not the servants of the greeks.. the possibilty that there is a pyramid is big enough to examine that hill.. a big part about the ilirian hystory is lost as all the conqueror that came to the balkan tried to vanish their traces...

At the very least, it is a significant place of worship which was previously unknown.

As to the Illyrians, we will likely find that the structure is much older than their approx 500bc time.

But until an agreement on time period is reached by the experts, it's pointless to even guess who might have built this complex.

One thing though... The guys with the spots, were Dalmations, a later sub-group of Illyrians.

Assuming that these are, indeed, pyramids… I think it’s very possible that they are older than 500BC, due to the fact that they are covered by hills. Either way, even 2500 years is pretty old.

STABB-- if you’re reading Gold of the Gods, then you’ve obviously heard of the “Caves of the Tayos.” Something has perplexed me about that for a while. If everything about the “caves” in that book is true, why has this information not been widely disseminated? Google the term “Caves of the Tayos” or “La Cueva de los Tayos” and see what you find. You’ll get far fewer results than you would expect from a discovery of that magnitude. (180 for the English, 333 for the Spanish…most of the info seemingly from the same sources)

Aside from archaeological architectural evidence, I think we can see extreme similarities in the religion and mythology of seemingly different cultures. Mainly in regard to astrotheology and certain symbols and myths. I think a good group of scholars with a wide base of knowledge might be able to help crack the mystery.

I'm a little disappointed in the home page site:
Pyramid in BiH
All the pictures are tiny and look to have been edited. I look forward to the reports scheduled to come out but it doesn't look like the evidence is confirmed by the scientific community yet...not that scientific confirmation matters (says the guy on a vampire forum).

From Nothing - what's your opinion on the Great Flood theory of acient histories. Not necessarily in the biblical sense but it would appear that every culture or geographic locale has it's own mythology of a flood that nearly destroyed the planet.

I remember reading about a decade ago on water marks high up on the Giza pyramid which would have put the age of that structure past the accepted estimate and back into the times of these flood myths. Don't know if that was ever debunked or even looked into further.

the ilirians lived on the balkan long before 500 bc. the greek mythology was completed about 1500bc and in their the ilirians were mentioned. plus i know ppl who work at the institute that is researching the pyramid (i am from the balkan too so all of you know) and they all think its from the ilirians as there lived only the greek and the ilirians on the balkan before the other ppl invaded it.

about the dalmatians they were a part of the ilirian ppl. there are a lot of regions where ilirians lived. one of them were the dalmatians others were the ardians, the dardans and the albans. all of them were white custums with black spots. the difference of the pattern of the black spots showed where the ppl came from..

interesting bit of info on world spanning floods....On the sphynx....the erosion patterns indicate two things....the "face" was carved in after the fact..likely there was something else originally larger....
and the limestone in that part of desert was exposed to much vertical rainfall for a peroid of time....a long peroid of time..
as there is both vertical erosion(as from rain) and horizontal....(as from high water levels, and wind)
but only rain causes the vertical erosion
A bit off topic I know
sorry

Felix-- Stories of massive flooding can indeed be seen in many cultures. You should check out this link: flood stories Although, I find the stories in the middle east and Mesopotamia to be most interesting. If you look at the similarities between the stories of Moses and Utnapishtim it’s uncanny. But that’s tip-of-the-iceberg shit so far as connections go. Certain symbols are recurring. The flood is one of them. Certain animals play important roles as well. I think, however, that astrotheology is a big key.

Now, it does make sense that a “primitive’ people might come to deify heavenly bodies. But the similarities of some of these religions that were separated by time and space seem unusual. Look, for example, at wide-spread sun worship. This occurs in countless religions. Some would even argue a case for Christ as being symbolic of the sun. But even more strange when you look deeper. It might make sense for ‘primitive’ people to worship the life-giving sun. However, not only did ancient cultures deify these bodies, they had detailed knowledge of them. Also, what about the little anomalies like Sirius? What is the significance of this one star? Once more, as a species and a society, we don’t know nearly as much as we like to pretend.

From Nothing - I've come across that link before but thanks for throwing it my way. I never did finish going through it all and had forgotten 'bout it. While sun worship would seem fairly natural for a people to lean to millenia ago, you're right that some of the similarities are uncanny.

Some of the flood stories like those of Babylon or Sumeria may have a more localized origin stemming from the flooding of the Tigris and the Uphrates but it's a little more difficult to explain the same myth or a very similar myth in the Aztec, Inca, German and Irish cultures.

To bring us back to the pyramids...If the stories all came from a global flood, then we'd be likely talking about the end of the last Ice Age which would place it around 10,000 years ago. Now again it's based on legends of the area but if the Pyrimids at Giza did in fact have watermarks before the outer stones were removed, that would put the contruction long before the age of Kufu.

It's a little metaphysical in it's language but the questions are raised rather nicely at this site here about the possible age of the Giza Pyramid and why Kufu is likely not the builder. Now given his extreme nationalism, it's unlikely that Dr. Zahi A Hawass, the director of Giza, is likely to ever admit anything of the sort.

On the "Flood" legends there is evidence from the Mediterranean that Northern Africa and Spain were linked across the straights of Gibraltar in pre-history, and that the Med itself was a land locked fertile plain below sea level much like Holland today.

When the land bridge eventually failed due to erosion and raising sea levels the whole area became flooded in a terrible tragedy. Those who DID survive were displaced through out Europe and would have carried the tail with them.

This has been attributed as the bases from many legends from the Great Flood to Atlantis.

On the Sphinx there is plenty odd about that baby! The erosion patterns are wrong, the head carving is much later then the body, the orientation is off in relation to the rest of the complex, there is reputed to be a chamber underground between the paws, which has shown up under seismographic analysis, you can keep going for ever! I just don’t think anyone will ever know all its secrets.

Actually, that's not the first discovered pyramid in Europe: does anyone recall the structure in front of the Louvre (France)?

Wierdo - I've read about that tomb. That's the Qin Shihuang tomb yes? Pearls and gems in the ceiling to represent the celestial bodies, and the rivers of mercury. It would be surprising if everything inside were to be so intact as offer such a rare glimpse at that kind of artistry.

Stabb and WarenRose - I don't think that pyramids are "common" so much as they are being found worldwide. So they are more widely used than we previously thought but they're not common.

Druidic - That would explain some of the mythologies...is this supposed to have predated the land bridge to North America? Both the South American natives and the North American natives have flood mythology as well.

And now there might be ancient pyramids....
