First of all, I would like to say that I'm not sure for any of this...Therefore, I 'm really interested in your points of view...

I understand that some of you may find this subject stupid but please even if you do, say so..

So here it goes:

1.Is there a way for some people to get into our minds and thoughts? Are there people that can actually ''hear'' exactly what you are thinking and what is going on in your head?

2.If your answer is positive do you believe that this consists a special ability or something you can develop with practice?

3.Is there a way to ''shield'' our mind to such an intrusion and prevent people who can do this from ''seeing'' through us?

I think it could be possible to tap into a persons energy to read/hear what they are thinking but i doubt that many humans can do this or even relize they can...

I don’t know about others but I do know what I can do and thought direct contact I can some times see what others have seen know what they are thinking but its really not something I do that often it takes a lot out of me when I do and I just don’t like the looks afterwards. If you want to block those that can then I would suggest imagining a box with mirrors on the out side and put all your thoughts in it and just know what it will deflect there attempts back to them.

mind reading very tricky. some people think they can do it when really they are really saying what they think the person is thinking, some do it by fraud when they are studdying the body like how the person is standing/expression on the persons face. some can really do it. it can not be taught you have to be born with it. I mean not bragging but I can do alot with my mind. it depends on what your gift is. but really its up to the person weather they believe in weather people can mind read. with me it comes into my head like I'm the one thinking it along with many abiltys.

I understand it is something natural to you but how can you be sure that if someone tries hard enough he won't achieve it?

Also what do you do ecxactly to hear other people's thoughts? You're thinking that you want to know/hear what is going on in their heads?

I know how I think. But like messages if I'm standing next to somone and I havnt put a block on them I hear what they think and I can tell its somone near because Its not how I think somtimes. I only really cam across it 2 years ago (well put a name to it) but the fact is I have mind power, my best friend kate is spirit. But I dont know if its somthing you can learn I've never really heard of anyone learning to mind read. I call my little "gift" mind jumping since thats basicly what I do. I'll post my abilitys in more explaination in my journal soon.

Also - some people are better receivers and some are better senders. Some people broadcast their thoughts more clearly and are therefore easier to pick up on.

It is very possible, (he he he) I dont know if everyone can develop it or not, I was born with the gift. Still not sure why... I prefer to not use that gift though, I find it to be an invasion of a persons privacy. I also wont do it if asked to, but there are plenty of people that are on this site alone that can tell you that I can do it. lol. Im sure there is the possibility that others could learn it, I just dont know for sure... as far as shielding it...... if the person is strong enough in their ability, then its very hard to block them, but there are ways.. I suggest simply just shileding.. make a shield around yourself and see if that helps.... I know that no one has ever read my mind.. many have tried, but no one really succeeds.... I dont know if that is because I just simply no how to shut them out, or if it is some wierd whatever that causes that.... not that Im bothered by it. lol. Eitherway like I said to me its an invasion of privacy... I wouldnt want anyone reading what I think so why would I sit and read what others think...... :)

Whether we could read another persons mind is one thing but i know that if you are close enough to a person, you can connect enough to them where you say what the other is thinking and vice versa

From time to time I am able to "hear" the thoughts of people I am around. Mostly it is family more then anything.

I belive, for me, it has something to do with the fact that I try to communicate with them as much as possible, to include listening.

Sometimes it is not so much as "hearing" what they are thinking but more of seeing, if that makes any sence.

makes perfect sense, for we all talk with our actions and facial expressions as much as we do with words.

i believe that one can read anothers mind, however i do think that this is a gift not something you learn to do. i think with practice you will enhance your abilities of your gift.
i do believe you can get close enough to someone to know they think but this is not what i consider mind reading.

Thoughts manifest...that's a given.

Thoughts are made up of energy patterns that can be passed on. However the discipline needed to pick up anothers thoughts can be either random, when two people are, lets say walking togehter and get the same idea at the same time, or thoughts can be centered on by another, or focused on. Remembering that thoughts are electric impulses emitted by the brain.
What takes absolutely no effort to achieve ie; walking together and having the same thought because the minds are free floating and not inhibited or should I say in a relaxed state and free floating and easy to receive as opposed to scientific research that attempts to read anothers mind where there are an impossible amount of equations to deal with such as random thoughts and images where the mind becomes a kaleidoscope of flux energy. In this circumstance both parties must be at some type of inner peace/rest and concentrating, with the least amount of mental pressure on a particular thing.

i do think that there are people who can read minds.. for some its an innate skill. while for others it is trained an honed to be more effective.

First off, I most definitely believe that some people are able to read minds! I think some are born with it, and don't have any choice in the matter. Others may have a hard "knock" to the head, which causes this phenomena. Some people are more sensitive than others also. I don't think there is much they can do to increase this "power." As far as shielding ones self, that can be done with practice. Some people picture a brick wall, others picture the ocean. I guess its whatever works best for them.

I believe its part of the "6th sense".I think we all have some form of this along with the given intuition but only some of us know how to use it. I also think the energy and ability deepens depending on the closeness of the person we are trying to read/perceive .Thats my person experience .

I believe it is very possible. Hypnotism is a way this can happen the power to control ones thoughts threw suggestion .

Im not sure if any human could do that at our current state but if there was anyonw who cold ever learn to use more of their brain than just the 10% there is no telling the possibilities.

Mind reading is one of the easiest things you can do. It is one of the first so called special abilities one develops. There are many stories that are told by the swamiis to their students about this gift. For good reason. One - it is indeed real. I have personally tested this out for many years in many ways. First hand experience, no lie, it's for real. Two - it's not hard to do and everyone can do this but other people do not like it when you do it to them. Hint. And Third - although it is easy, fun, and natural, (We are all connected, does it really surprise you that it is possible?) this so called gift is nothing but a major distraction on your path. Fun to have but do not focus on it or make it your goal to achieve.

saince we all, or most of us anyway, only use part of our brains, i doubt it if there is anyone walking around the streets reading our thoughts, though mel gibson was quite funny in the movie, thought its not real i believe.

I will simply say that there are those that do have the ability to see into another's mind; however, they do not see everything that you are thinking like a book. They are born with this ability and it is honed throughout their lifetime. There are meditative practices that allow someone to block their thoughts from others.

I truely believe that someone can read minds but true with others that it is a gift not something you can learn. There are ways to prevent others from reading your thoughts such as building a wall deep in your thoughts blocking everyone.

I would say that some people may possess the talent to tap into another persons mind and read what they are thinking. I believe that it is possible for such abilities to occur if one's mind is clear and fully aware of its surroundings. Anything is possible if one sets themself to the limit.

I have never been able to read someone's thoughts word for word. I've always had a deep sense of what they are feeling and thinking so it allows me to say the right things at the right time. I don't know if someone can learn it or has to be born with it. I do know that I didn't learn it. As far as blocking, people can block. For me it is just a matter of visualizing Alcatraz as the guardian and holder of my thoughts. I had figured at the time that if there were no successful break outs, then there could be no successful break ins. Of course, now they're saying that someone may have broken out of Alcatraz but at least it's still rare. It actually makes more sense because if the person reading your thoughts is uber powerful than you are, you may not be successful in blocking them.

Yes there are several ways to read minds Or subject others to your will. Primerily there is subliminal messages ( that were banned because of there effective uses in the 50's at drive in theters--GO BUY MORE POPCORN. ) Then there is the kind of subliminal messages that can be heard by our unconcess minds as well It is called backmasking.. To say that we can read minds........ actually i believe that it is more along the lines of reading body language and micro facial expressions. there are whole volums that we say to each other and the world without knowing about it.. hope this helps

I feel that we are all able to do these things but it is a mere matter of opening our minds and tapping into that part which normally lies dormant. Specialists have now raised our 10% of normal brain usage to 17%....so we are always advancing our brain power so Yes I firmly believe that there are those out there with true mind reading talent. Many of us have different "gifts", although I cannot read minds, or see auras, I can FEEL emotion and physical pain. For those close to me, they need not tell me of an injury or a "bad mood", I already know before seeing or talking to them...

Some of these things have been voiced before, in this thread, but I'd like to present my view as a whole on this subjcet. I will speak as though what I say is the absolute truth, because I bellieve that it is. If your opinion differs, remeber that this is only MY opinion, and subject to your disbelief.

The idea of "mind reading" is a complex one. Some people are naturally empathic, or can understand body language and subconcious signals better than others. Other people actually have the ability to percieve thoughts or feelings not thier own. The final instance I know of that would be considered "mind reading" is the concept of truely knowing someone, like your lifemate, or your close kin (biological or non).
The ability to understand others and "feel" for them can be both natural and trianed. Some people are born with the ability to know others' feelings; this isn't supernatural, meerly an application of paying attention. If you study it, either formally or informally, you can begin to percieve the unknowing signals a person gives off. Professionally, this is called psychological profiling, and it is used quite often.
The mind gives off energy. One representation of this is that the brain, the physical aspect of the mind, is a series of electrical channels and connections; by reading the flow of electricity, either with a machine or by some innate ability, you can perceive certain aspects of thought; if the occipital lobe of a person's brain is going nutso, that person is probibly looking at something(s) intently. The second representaion is of the mind as a non-physical thing: one of three main aspects of a person (along with Body and Soul). In this respect, some people are able to extend their Mind into others' Minds, either to send or receive information. How much a person's Mind projects is an innate thing; you may be able to train you Mind one way or the other, pulling it away from other "Readers" or extending it into others' thoughts, but you are originally born with a pattern of mental manifestation that dictates how your Mind interacts. The theory that twins know about thier twin at all times is because of the closeness that thier minds are operating at.
The third example of "mind reading" is what happens between people who are very "close" to one another. It involves both other concepts; if you hang around with a person for a long time, you begin to pick up on thier personality, and understand thier little "signs." Also, your Mind is more likely to be able to mesh with someone whom you are very comfortable with. Examples of this phenominum are: "soul mates" knowing each other's thoughts; people in love finishing each other's sentences; "knowing" when a friend is in danger.

I think it is mainly something you must be born with. To actually hear what pple are thinking in words in their head i dont think can be learned. But sensing their emotion or what they could be thinking could be learned.

some with a learning disability can mind read. simply because humans use 10% of the brain and if the learning part (or what ever part has the disabilty) the brain uses more of the brain like 13% to make up for the loss.

I'd like to comment on the "humans use 10% of the brain" thing. The fact is, humans use 100% of thier brain, unless there's brain damage or a disibility. The 10% bit is the part that we can consiously command to work, like memory, certain higher thought, and the base aspects of voluntary movement. Also, the 10% belief comes from the fact that not every section of the brain is active at once; at any given instant, only about 10% of the brains neurons are firing.

I have been around people that tell me they know what i am thinking, or what i am feeling, or what i am doing that very moment, and let me tell ya, that is freaky. But i do believe there are some people out there in the world that can tap into your energy and read a person inside and out, its freaky but people have done it to me before.

It is definitely possible! I am a little weirded out about it though. I sometimes pick up on what a person is going to say before they say it or know how they are feeling. I am confused because i thought that u are supposed to know that it is going to happen lol.

Yes it can most certainly be done. There are two people that I know of that can read my thoughts even if I've done "psychic shielding". I haven't been able to develop this gift myself past the point of reading body language and simply just knowing the person well enough to know how they think lol. But I have no doubt that it can be developed.

sometimes, i find myself knowing what someone is going to say before thewy say it. this is normal for humans, but for empathic vampires who feed on energy, it is 100% normal for all the time happenings. you are picking up someones energy, and also their thoughts. if they have negative energy, they might have had an arguement with someone and be thinking about it...etc. Yes, there are people who read minds, and it is possible to develop further these abilities, but you must have been born with traces of them to begin with.

I am not so sure on mind reading, however after years of praticing Aikido i boticed that i am able to pick up on hostile intent directed towards me. It's not mind reading but i am able to 'feel' an attack before my adversary even starts to move.

It manifests itself as a kind of 'pressure' (for lack of a better word) that i feel in the region of my body that the attack is aimed at.

Like I said its not mind reading but i definetly pick up the intent of that person.

I don't think people can really HEAR what you're thinking, but people can still kind of get a vague idea of whatever you are thinking about.

If I were a higher rank, I'd start a spinoff post of the many literary fiction instances of mind reading, but since I can't, I'll throw my own 2 cents in here because it's close enough. The kids' book series "My Teacher is an Alien" has an interesting view on this subject, in the last book, I think. Many of the vampire books I've found involve this subject, and I know there are books entirely on the subject, as well.

yes i believe that some extra ordinary people can read the mind of other normal people.

i think that those people whom i referring to is the Talamasca.

i have also read a part in Harry Potter wherein you will perfrom an occlumency so that you may read the mind of the person who wish to. i have researched this occlumency thingy and it is a fact.

when it comes to blocking of mind so it wont be able to read, well, im not expert on this but i think that yes reading of minds can be blocked.

i agree with angel4blood... a person can know someone's thoughts based on his/her facial expressions or body movement... but if a person is gifted in mind reading, then it can be really possible.

i think this is what the magicians like david copperfield and david blane does when making a trick or magic which usually involves a second person.. they read the minds of these people....

The mind is such a complicated thing. I believe there is such a thing as mind reading. My girlfriend can always tell what I am thinking and I hardly ever have to say anything to her.

My mind reading experiences have usually been more telepathic than actual mind reading... Conversations with someone, that to my and their minds seam entirely auditory and yet are not. In fact Ihave had conversations with someone where a third person looks on confused because the person I am speaking to is talking out loud, responding to things I am saying to them although I am not speaking at all, sometimes not even in the same room.

It can be quite fun when you find someone very suseptable to this, although I have only ever had one employee who I could do this to with regularity. " Jason, bring me the delivery pick list," heh heh... he used to swear up and down that I was standing right behind him when I said it, but I never was.

It is hard to differentiate mind reading from psychic awareness for me... but I instinctively know many things about a person... favorite colour, car, etc. Also what they are not saying, or the truth behind a lie. i am so very rarely surprised by anything anyone tells me about themselves. but like I said... it's not something I actively try to do... and I often go through periods where I am completely closed... usually in the winter, and I pick up nothing at all for a month and I feel completely out of wack because i don't know how someone thinks.

To me it depends on how much you believe it is possisible.

Yes it is possible to 'get into' a creature's mind. . . . human or animal. I have don'e both. I did not have this ability naturally (at least I don't believe that I did), but I rather practiced and studied materials to do such a thing. You can 'build' a shield to not let people in, but depending on who your are fighting to keep out, might not hold them out. Our levels of powers and mentality holds a great deal in this matter. It is NEVER okay to enter without permission unless you are being attacked wether it be mentally, spiritually, or physically. Enter if you must/can and get yourself out of the situation. You can learn a great deal about a creature when you get into their 'head' and mostly it deals with the inner most private parts of the soul. This is why permission is an absolute. Be courtious . . . . . don't go where you aren't invited.

I have a feline for my best friend. She has been mine for many many years now. I have read her thoughts and now we are connected in a way most people could never be with their animal friends. I understand her and she can understand me (mostly).

When getting into someone's head. . . . . it can be very dangerous and spiritually/mentally threatening. We all are connected to some form of good/evil, love/hate, happiness/sadness, etc. Be very careful if you should dabble in this ability to read thoughts. Sometimes you might not want to hear what one is thinking.

I love my ability, though it has burned me very bad in my past. Hence my warning, BE CAREFUL. If you are causious and do not abuse your ability, you will love it.

I don't think mind reading is real. Don't want to stomp on anyone elses beliefs but to think that someone can read your mind or that you can read peoples minds you are either really paranoid or just delusional. That is like asking if anyone has super powers like sonic hearing or something like that. It is just something made up.

i have never actually been able to read the specific individual thoughts of someone. but i've always had this thing, i dont know what it is, kind of liek a premonition. i can feel something a few seconds or minutes or days before it happens. like, something that always happens, is i always know when a phone is about to ring. even someone elses. like, i'll be riding the bus, and some woman next to me is just sitting there. and then i think about who she talks to, and her phone rings. it startles me almost everytime it happens.

my answer is negative.
most of the time it's couincidence or knowing the person extremely well...that's it.untill you will not succeed on reading my mind at least thousand time in different days,I won't believe you're a mind reader...that's it.

some people are very proficient at cold reading that is guessing what other people want to know or are thinking by reading there body language rather then there minds. I have been able to read peoples thoughts but for me they don't come out as words everything is pictures and it is up to me to find out what those pictures mean. I have had someone try and read my thoughts before and have found that putting up a brick wall fast will keep them out and give them a nasty headache. I only do it with permission and that is the only way I allow it with me.

I believe that there are some people that can actually perceive your thoughts. I don’t mean this a literal way in which they can actually penetrate your mind and "hear" or "see" what you are thinking. However, I believe some people have the ability to perceive certain issues, and emotions others are going through. This in a way could be considered mind reading.
As for the question of is this an ability that could be acquired, I don’t believe so. You either have it or you don’t. You either are good reading people, or not. I don’t believe this is an ability you could develop, unless you get help from a supernatural being.
I don't think you can shield yourself from this, because it is merely a perception ability. However, stoicism, and the ability to keep your expression aloof may protect a "shield" to a person with this ability.

I actually remain rather open minded about this; in the more spiritual realm, the thought processes could be directly connected to one's spiritual energy and could be drawn from that. I don't know and can't say and should probably shut up about that now.

Even in the more logic/reason based realm of science, thoughts and actions of the brain and mind are still directed by electrical impulses.. couldn't there be a chance that such mind reading and telepathy just be similar to the current wireless communication between electronic devices?

I agree with the person on top of me.. It could be alot of body language that you are used to reading from certian people.. but for the most part I do think it is a fluke.. it is not consistant, and therefore hard to keep up, unless you do have this gift.. ~NFA

Yes I believe strongly that someone can read or tap into your mind. I do not however believe that it is something you can learn to do. It is a gift you are given. With plenty of practice , you can enhance your powers...

ok I dont believe that you can truly read someones mind, how ever you can be close enough to someone to sort of know what they are thingking... some people posses the ability to fortel the future for you (eg card readers) but how do you know its not a big old coinkidink?

if you really do not want someone to know whats going on in ur head i believe will power has the streangth to block people from your thoughts....

however... somepeople are able to read feelings and there for take a stab at what you are thinking.... if then... no hope.... juts be a good actor :P

I don't know about MIND reading so much as Telepathy. Such as my circle mother and I. We can, through telepathy, not just personality or body language... Know what each other are thinking.

I can't count how many times I've been in a sich and she just... feels it...

Ex:

Out late one night and was hanging around some of the worst people in the worst ways... I said i needed to step out and left. I left the area and started walking home. Here comes my circle mother driving up.

She asked me if I was ok, and I said no how did you know? She just had this feeling that something was wrong... She didnt even know where I was.... but ended up going that way anyways....

This is only ONE example... such as this has happened a COUNTLESS number of times... So i dont know about mind reading, but im a firm believer in the mental link of telepathy.

I really don't believe anybody can hear the exact things people are thinking in their minds, but they can come pretty close to it. not like "what icecream flavor am i thinking of" but more like "I have just witnessed the death of a loved one." i honestly think with enough practice people can tell something serious that is going on in people's lives, it's all in a person's eyes to tell you how they feel.
