How do you bless your home ? what reason would you bless your home? and what reason do you bless your home religion or tradition?
For me when we move into a new home i will bless it, so the old vibes will go away , and a new start can begin. When i have lived in a home for more then a few weeks and i feel there is a bad spirit or there are many neighbors who are angry or a lot of bad luck starts to happen i will bless my home.
How i bless my home is i take a new broom into the home , never a used one. when it is midnight i will place a white candle in each room and light them at midnight i will stay up till they have melted , then i will place the rest of the melted candles into a shoe box covered full of salt and take it to the swamp and bury it . so it wont be deserved.
i will hang in the middle of the house a witches ball to catch the evil, and hag bells over the main doors to scare the evil off.
I dont do it for religion but tradition.
I bless my home to rid the evil that is in it. I have a friend who will come in and do the blessing
Most homes are blessed here when the Parish Priest comes to visit :)
I guess when I think about it, I bless my home in prayer.
Why do I do it ? Because it feels right.
When I was a Christian I recall my mother having her prayer group come over and go from room to room saying specific words pertaining to that particular room in just a simple prayer.
I bless my home with sage and saltwater. I just sprinkle each room with saltwater, and use a smudge stick to spiritually cleanse my living space. Then, I use an oil blend with different herbs, and I draw sacred symbols over each window and doorway. I try to do this at least once a week. I feel like the energies are cleaner in my home afterwards.
I fill the house with positive happy energy to ward off unwelcominh spirits. It is not so much a religous blessing or purification but a take over :)
We always bless our new homes and once a year we also Bless them. Mainly to just be sure no evil or bad karma is lurking around, we use sage and inncense plus a blessing spell.
I just have one of those nifty signs that says, "Bless this Mess." I do it mostly for comedic purposes haha.
How do you bless your home ? what reason would you bless your home? and what reason do you bless your home religion or tradition?
I bless my home with a prayer and salt, and herbs. This is done to rid the home of any bad feelings or vibes, or bad intentions. I bless my home both because of tradition and religion, to me they are one and the same.
I burn sage leaves in the house, it cleanses it from negative energy and evil spirits. It's important to be able to come back to a safe haven.
a couple years ago (1-3 i cannot reember) there was a big fire in cali.. all the homes in this one place burnt down, but this family sent a fax to their home from a diff location.. it said "protect this house and the firemen trying to save it" and it was the only house that survived.. hav u guys heard of that story?
I use sage smudge pot and I walk throughout my house with the smudge-pot and I ask that all the bad energy be removed. I bring the smudge-pot into each and every corner of each room including closets. It is a native american tradition to cleanse with sage.
I bless my house to keep out all evil.
I sprinkle sea salt in every corner of the house & smudge it with sage all while surounding myself with a white light feeling & saying a prayer.
we bless our home in sections. and each room is blessed in a different way, by who is in it the most. mine is blessed by incense. all because it just makes it feel, safer.
I would bless my home for safety puropese from demons that i can't see or comtrol.
Whenever I move into a new home or feel that something is not right I use sage smudge sticks through out my house.
After sage smudging I place this over all entry places or exit and windows

My homes have always been blessed with prayer and holy water. An older female member of the family has always performed the blessings for all of our immediate and extended family.
Now that my grandmother is 85 and doesn't travel as well as she used to, my mother or her eldest sister do the blessings.
We perform the blessings to keep the homes free from evil and to protect all who dwell and visit.
I can't say that the blessings have always kept the homes free from evil. At some point, I think it becomes more a traditional value than a religious one. Some homes have been blessed without the holy water and are no worse off for it......so far.
We don't really bless our home, but we do cleanse it every so often. When different things begin to happen in life, new friends, jobs, etc. loss of old ones, that type of thing.
We do burn incense every month or so, maybe that is a type of blessing, but I'm not sure.
Ive seen on tv shows that when people have problems with spirits ghosts demons etc. theyll have a priest come in and bless the house....only with evil spirits though to try and rid them of there house...
It is so important to bless a home, in order to cleanse and protect against negative energies, and influences, wich so easily go in to ones dream, or cause bad luck in ones daily life.
I bless my house by calling a Chatolic Priest to cleanse it.
It is adliest the Church can do for me, considering all the donations they recieve from me.
I bless my home to protect it and make the old vibes go away! I also do it to get rid of negative energy!
I've blessed each place I've moved to with salt around the home for a protective barrier and with sage to help with positive energy and forces.
How do you bless your home ?
Its all in what that person believes in and how they wish to do it.
what reason would you bless your home?
Normally to get the bad chi out or evil souls.
and what reason do you bless your home religion or tradition?
The way I fill will be best to cast all negative chi out of my house and life.
Salt is a tradition which is used also for keeping bugs out of a house particulary if you live in the country..no reason why it cannot keep out evil spirits too !!
I have had the church come many times and bless my home, it just seems to give it a more peacful feeling.
I believe that by blessing my home, I bring good luck to my house and my family who live there.
I've not moved in over 14 years.. but when we do move, we Bless the new house with sage, insence and a blessing prayer, to ward off old vibes and any negative energy.
My grandmother on my fathers side was 100% Apache...she would say in English
I Bless this house night and day...to keep any evil spirits away.
Then say in Apache...I can't speak it....This home and heart are one with nature...no evil spirit will pass through these doors.
i bless my house in a sence to rid it if negative energies..... never can one rid a house of inteties. thats a totally diffrent subject
It seems that sage and salt are used a lot for blessing. What type of salt are we talking about? Rock salt or..?
I have a very interesting spell in one of my spell books;
Blue Bird of Happiness Spell
Rare blue flowers confer peace and protection on a home. Grow cornflowers, delphinium, bluebells and hydrangeas. Reserve the blossoms; dry, grind, powder them and then sprinkle the powder discreetly through the home.
We bless our house once a year too, and it is a religious way, cos there are ppl which the parish priest dont open the door for him. It is to keep evil spirits away. And when I have my new home of my own I will bless it of course too. It something nice for me!
I also use sage and sea salt to cleanse and protect each place I have lived in.
i've always thought of blessing my house to get rid of the evil spirits and the negativity that is in it. usually a broom at midnight will work, or walk through the house chanting. those are the two ways i always go to.
I don't bless my home anymore not in the religous sense but I do bless it to keep all evil away from it.
I use sage, sweetgrass, cedar and tobacco and do a smudge throughout the house when I move in or if something bad happens just to keep the bad energy out of the house. Before a smudge we cover the mirrors and close all the doors and windows except the east facing door so that all the negative energy will go out that way and not be able to come back in.
people bless there home to keep the negative energy or evil spirts away. also to give thanks that they have a home in which to live
i just do some chants and stuff that a friend of mine says works. i'm still trying to figure out if it does
I always bless a new home with burning sage to ward off negative energy. I believe that each new home is a new chapter in my life and I think I do it to ward off negativity about the previous chapter.
IF there have been some negative visits and energies, or Tore and I have have been arguing and sneering of eachother, then I bless and cleanse our home so we can start fresh. If I move to a new home, I will bless it as well so it is mine.
I do it more out of tradition and habbit rather than religion.
How I do it is rather personal, and everyone does it differently.
I always bless any new home I get to help cleanse the atmosphere. I always use a smug stick and move around cleansing appropriately. Then will burn many white candles for purity and renewal.
I ask god to bless my home and why do i... ? cause I want my family to be safe from evil
with candles why for harmony and to get rid of neagtivy
I cleanse with sage and annoint the doors and windows. Then put over the doorways a seal the buddhist monks use. For protection and cleansing.
After that I fill it with love abundance and joyful tidings.
After that I make a charm for the door for those things.
and my favorite burn candle and incense and invoke the gods to come and be with you.
yumminess
I don't presently bless my home as I'm living in a first floor appartment!
If I did bless my home I'd probably swing some incense about or something...
I bless my home because i want to protect my family and friends and i do it from tradition reasons
I like to "cleanse" the new home. I use sage smudge process and inscense and I scrub everything from walls to floors to remove the last persons scent or vibes from being there. I am almost OCD with this, new toilet seat, no light switches...not sure if I am a clean fanatic or if I am "blessing" but either way i feel like they are gone and now its mine when I do those things.
How I did for mine is using sage I burn it in a bol as I enter each room. When start I place holy water on each window, when I am done with the room I place holy water on the door line and frame.
Then I move to the next room as I do the same procedure.
Blessing a house goes way way back in traditions and religions.
I bless my aprtment with prayer, smudge, and a water/salt mix. I do this for protection and to bring fortune, safety, and happiness to myself and all who enter here.
i use sage and do a protection ritual, i use runes and crystals as well
I dont really do anything I leave it up to my wife. About all I do is planting so it has a sence that we are caring and make the house feel like ours
Sage and I bury 4 small crystals at the corners outside of my home. Prayer also. People can come in and bring their negative energy with them, is one reason I blessed my home. The other is sometimes ourselves do we not get negative and send out negative vibes?
Salt on your doorstep will keep out unwanted guest. patcholli on your door knob will also do the same. A large crystal will keep bad dreams away at night, as will a dreamcatcher.
I dont either, I light insence all the time, just make my house smell good. But I never thought of "blessing" my house.
Here is a Celtic Blessing for your home:
Blessing Of The Three
The Sacred Three
My fortress be
Encircling me,
Come and be round
My hearth, my home.
Fend Thou my kin
And every sleeping thing within
From scathe, from sin.
Thy care our peace
Through mid of night
To light's release.

I would have my house blessed if i thought it was haunted or just felt weird in it.and i would use a pastor or priest
I first take sage and smudge every room ( this is to cleanse out the bad and old vibes ) I say a small incantation with this, then I,ll mix salt and blessed water and go from room to room and around all doors and windows and bless them and ask the god and goddess to bless and protect all things and persons inside and around the house.this is to bring in the good vibes.
Holy water .. my mother likes to keep it in her bag and drench the place every other time she calls, no particular reason. Even the car gets a good wash with it when I'm going on a long journey ... ah bless her, I can't complain it obvious;y keeps me safe :)
I also use sage usually a couple times a year and more so if I am doing a lot of magicks.
It just lightens the feel or energy of the house.
I bless my home with HOLY water from church. I do it because of respect to my family. What I believe and like
doesn't doesn't defile my home where family is concerned. What I mean is what I do here on VR I keep out of my home.
Since I first read this post I thought I would give it a try, We have so much negativity in our household that I was sure it wouldnt do any harm.. Still waiting for the effect to kick in. *sits and twidles thumbs singing la de da dumm dumm*
Meeper: I like your idea of takeover :) A lot of people in the Catholic culture would actually get their house blessed by the Parish Priest to ward off evil spirits, and also to determine if any actually existed in the House.
I bless my home to protect it and to keep the negative energy out!
We should bless a house when we first move in and then just when we feel it's needy.
I usually burn incense and say prayings to gods (even though I as well, do it for tradition, not religion).
Another way is to ring a bell in every corner of the house, where the energy tends to be blocked.
Sea salt is very helpfull for "cleaning" and healing, whether we speak for a place or ourselves.
I myself have never blessed any house I have lived in, however, all the houses i've lived in I haven't owned... A friend of mine blessed her house though... She does it to purify the house from evil spirits/energy. It helps to protect a persons sanctuary.
Its to protect myself and anyone who enters from anything evil
Paranormal activity is another reason why people would have their home blessed in the form of an exorcism of course :)
I have acutally seen someone use burning sage to clear a room prior to using it for a discussion and I have been told that it is good for home clearing also
I blessed my house to keep the home safe from bad element i cleaned the house with sage sealed it salt
I use sea salt to bless and cleanse my house in order to keep all the evils away.. And anything that isn't welcome here.
I have always had a new home blessed but it was more of a tradition than a religious thing. My aunt generally does it and leaves a little bit of sage and sea salt behind to protect the house.
So that God will watch over and protect those who enter. I've had a Pastor bless my homes and feel much peace than when I enter ones that arn't.
Well being that I'm Pagan I have always blessed my home the same the way with salt and white sage to rid the negitivity from it. I usually do a huge spring cleansing, which involves alot more but its always alot of fun !
well we bless our homes in India by organising pujas which is called grihapravesh. it is done for the safety of the house and the members living in it .
Blessing your home and putting a crystal in each corner outdoors in the ground is also a good way to bless and keep evil beings fronm harming you by entering your home..
I usually cleanse my home when I first move in, but I am now living in a old house, with lots of history, and I love the feel that it has... so when I moved in I didn't do much in case I changed things too much, I use to feel it even before I owned the it, when I went past.
Call me a whackjob, but I pray to the Judeo-Christian God for my blessings :) It works.
I use Sage and various incenses to remove negative energies.....
:)
I cleanse my house to ring out any negative energy I might track along in, or others who might have brought with them. I also do it live a clean spiritual life. I don't like having yuckys in my house. Meaning nasty energy, or spirits.
In Strega we also bless the home because it is a way of showing our commitment to our Patron God. We always clean right be for the Sabbats come along.
I don't think I ever have blessed a house aside from walking inside. I think my spirituality blesses any dwelling I am in. No rituals or anything to be had here.
Blessing is a strong statement... being a Reiki practitioner I try to purify my house and those around me by just being there and wishing that the energy flow will clean the "bad waves" around...
I don't think blessing a house is really a necessity..but to each their own.
I did not bless my home when I moved into it. I have however in the past seen my mother bless her home. She would read sections form the bible out loud, going around to each room. It was supposed to cleanse the house & promote happiness. She did it once when I was young because the family was always arguing & weird things would happen. I can say that oddly enough once she done this everyone begin to get along better & all the weird things stopped happening.
Blessing with a purea heart is the key... If you are blessing something just for the ritual, you did nothing, even as a member of the clergy...
If you bless something with all your heart and soul pour into it and are honest and truly mean it, then it will come true... The good thaughts are always expressed... as the bad ones... but, like with every intention or will, you have to truly mean it...
I am not in the habit of blessing my home, but others have blessed it for me. I believe that life is a balance both good and bad. Also, that the very practice of barring something from our home, even something unwelcome, is a malicious act.
i dont believe in blessing a home,if there are spirits in a home,i say just let them be,you cany make them do anything they dont want to :)
