Where do you go when you die? is it heaven, or hell? nowhere, or somewhere?

I believe we go to a place called Elsewhere. your still you, but every year on the day you died, you turn younger. and everyyear you do the same until one day, you 'die' and are sent back to earth as another being.

What do you think? where do we go when we die?

i do belive in heaven and hell and purgatory.i belive souls that take there lives are bound to earth in torment and pain where as pure evil murders and rapist go to hell and the good and godbearing go to heaven.this is my belief tho.

I believe in reincarnation, so I believe that you come back again and again until your mission here on Earth is fufilled.

After that, I believe that your soul goes to the heavens (not Heaven, mind you). You become one with the universe. Something bigger and better than this life.

My boyfriend and I used to kid around that when you die you go to the dessert and are trapped on a merry-go-round. One year in one direction, one year in another direction, ect. Oh, and most importantly... no water.

i believe that there is a heaven & a hell personally but none of us know for sure so who is to really say? i think it all has to do with what we believe in & how we percieve things....

I can't think about this sort of thing. It sends me into a philosophical nightmare spiral. Last time I tried to ponder this the only conclusion I came to is that we are already dead--we are dead, and the "ghosts" we see are the living. See, this is an insane thing to be thinking of, and has driven many a person crazy.

I believe in Heaven and Hell. I also believe that when a person dies, they either go to Heaven, Hell, or roam the earth in lonliness and confusion.

I believe in heaven & hell!....sometimes I question it, but then I always go back to the answer heaven & hell! I don't know maybe it's just easier to believe that than it is to try to figure out.

I believe in reincarnation. and there is a different plane of existence that you will eventually get to when you have finished being prepared.

I think you send yourself to wherever you feel you need to go to. For example, a person who believes that they have done good and are deserving enough send themselves to their own personal Heaven. On the other hand, those who have many regrets and feel that they have screwed up their life can either send themselves to their own perception of Hell, or Purgatory, a different life, or perhaps just emptiness. In other words, you mentally send yourself to wherever you think you are going when you die.

I believe that there is another realm out there that our spirits go to. How do you explain where ghosts come from? Or, why do you think we dream? It's our soul traveling. So, when we die, don't you think it would travel too?

I beleive we go nowhere and we do nothing w just fall asleep and nothing more..I know I am boring but its a free world and this is my strong belef and nothing will change it.

They had done a thing on the TV a while back about out of body experiences. They took LED signs and stuck up on cabinets and when a person died they would see if they could read the sign. And there was a few that knew what they said. So that shows that we could just stay here on earth either for a time, or permanitaly until we find a new body to inhabit. If reincarnation is true. How do new souls get created? Populations are going up. So there are new souls each day.

This is actually something I thought about a bit ago. I came up with a theory that this planent, Earth, has an alloted amount of souls. Anyting beyond that is what we call "otherkin", psychics, or vampires. In a sense, they are people that have abilities or lives that are not ment for this planet, as if their souls are rogue to this planet, not ment to be here.

i was taught to believe in heaven and hell... but for the last few years i question the fact... is there really a heaven? is there really a hell? is this life we are in now our hell? i dont know... do we linger in limbo till we are reborn again? wicked kisses, darla...

Death of a Mortal Being is simply part of an existance.

The Soul is the traveler within. We will all live on as long as there are memories or legacys of our former selves.

The nature of our Soul will always find it's Own Kind on any plan of existance.

For those we will not meet in this life, we may in the next.

it is very difficult to imagine what is after death, we all have our hopes of either being brought back again or living a peaceful afterlife in "heaven" what ever that might be to each of us, and we would like to think that all bad souls go to hell or similar, I had an near death experience and it was very scarey,, but i was told it wasnt my time and i was sent back so there must be something.......

I was always taught to believe in heaven and hell. That if we are good we go someplace warm and fuzzy. I now think that is just something we tell ourselves so we don't think about the fact that we will all eventaully just become worm bait.

It's nice to think we go somewhere else for the rest of our dead time but once we're dead, we're dead.
We wouldn't know if the world ended around us.
No proof has been given to show that either place existed.
My only theory that I ever heard was from a friends parents who said:

"The place we live now is hell and to get to our Heaven we must get through this".

Well i think allot of us want to beleive that we go somewhere after we die. I beleive in heaven and hell and a middle realm were we drift along till its decided. Some beleive that we become spirit guides helping our loved ones who are still here.

It is in human nature to believe we dont truly die. Even if it means finding any answer under the sun, it is better to some than believing there is nothing.

I would like to believe that there is a utopia that we can all partake in to our own personal desire. However because I wish something to be so, does not make it so.

While these discussions can be a pleasant diversion, it should not take away from the now and what we are doing… not just thinking but actively contributing with our existence. To wait for the next go round or the afterlife just wastes the energy and potential of the now.

I am only assuming but there might be many here who have sensed or felt like they were in the presence of a holy being. I know I have, and there is much evil too. When there is evil there must be good, There must be a candle to show the way. So I do believe that there is a higher power, or maybe it's all in my head? Maybe it is all in everyone else's heads? One can never know, but I can't fathom the idea of us just simply ending and that being the end of it. How can something so pure at birth and powerful as a soul just simply ending and snuffed out of the universe? This I simply cannot comprehend.

I personally do not know what to believe.. I want to think that there is a "heaven" and "hell", but who knows?

I believe that there is a Creator or Source of life who has made all of existance possible. I also believe in reincarnation. But reincarnation has a purpose, of course. The eternal soul can be mapped out through several lifetimes. The purpose of each lifetime is to perfect oneself, to experience any and all things and to become as close to the Source as possible before finally existing eternally on that plane, reuniting with the Creator. This makes perfect sense, for you see it simply would not do to try to become perfect in one lifetime. No one could possibly fully experience in depth and in full detail being a doctor,lawyer, police officer, actor or entertainer, athlete, and religious leader, for example. There fore the soul chooses each lifetime carefully and maps out which experiences it must learn for each.
There are written works that further depict what I have aforementioned. Simply goto your local library or use a search engine online. I'm sure you will find a vast amount of beliefs, but the concept of reincarnation is widely accnoledged throughout many of the worlds religions.
Additionally, many Paranormal Psychologists, Scientist dealing in "spiritual activity" or "ghosts" feel that the reason the soul walks the earth and has not advanced to a higher plane of existance, or has been reborn is due to the soul's untimely death, in which case the soul failed to fully experience what it was intended to learn. Thus, until the soul finds a way to complete its tasks it will wander the Earth searching for a way to do so. Many times a soul will gain its experience through the living if a proper medium is found, and is willing to help the departed soul.

Personally, I think the most likely thing that will happen is...nothing. We die, our awareness fades, our bodies become fuel for other things to live off of. It doesn't change the fact, though, that, probably due to the culture I live in and the conditioning most of us go through, I still believe in something. Go figure.

Liebe has a very important point that many of us overlook when we search for these answers that are impossible to find...if you spend your life searching for the meaning of life, you forget to live.

Well yeah sure we all like to think we go somewhere when we die, some nice place with lovely gardens ect. But what use is it going to be once we're dead?

I don't know where we go after we died. I have actually experienced deatha couple times. Unlike those people on tv, I don't remember anything from it. I'm not religious, so i don't believe in heaven or hell. All i think we should be worried about is how we die. If there's anything i've learned it is that we have a choice in how we die.Atleast for the most part.

I believe in the heavans and in reicarnation. I have a hard time believing in hell. I believe when we die we return to a "staging area" where we look back on our last life and reflect on what we have learned. We then begin to map out our next lifetime and find those we would like to meet on our next journey. I think this is done until we learn all we need to learn and move on to exsist on a higher plane.

As humans we find it hard to believe that there can be nothing after we die. We have a need to believe in something after. It helps to calm our fears about death. It eases the pain when we lose a loved one to know we will "see" them again. I believe we have an innate desire to believe we are truly immortal.

Of course you can also look at the scientific point of view in that we are bundles of energy and energy does not disappear it transfers and moves to other areas. So in a sense, if there is no after life the energy contained in our physical bodies moves on to the universe. So maybe we are truly immortal, it's just a matter of how our energy has been and will be harnessed.

I believe in Heaven & reincarnation... I just wonder if our soul keeps going and going, or if maybe part of it stays while we're gone... If that makes sense?

I really don't know. as i said in another thread, I've never been dead so i really don't know. What seems the most likely to me is that once life ends thats it. No more.

I do believe in good and evil and that once we leave this plane we go on to another and we continue on until we have finished what ever our purpose is in this universe.

I have often thought what if all we are told was just one big joke or a bach of lies to control us to do curtain things. What if after we die there is nothing but us rotting in a box. I guess we all need something to hope for right?

I don't think there is a heaven or hell.

I believe that you have certain things you need to do. and that you continue to be reincarnated until you you have done them and when you are done you finally get have eternal rest.

Truthfull i do not know wot i believe, I believe that my family memeber's that have passed on are all somewhere safe, beautiful and that they are all together look after one another. We all need somthing to believe in. I do not know wot happens after we pass on, that i will find out when and if it happens, I do not disbelieve it i just don't know.

If you were to look at the source of their invention/realization to our perception, they are simply seen as realms of existance. Perhaps the superior two, depending on what your beliefs are.

We as human beings are said to be 'IN this world, and not OF this world'. If we were indeed 'of' this world, we would either reincarnate, or fade into nothing.

Heaven, either literally or metaphorically considered the 'kingdom of God' can be simply thought of as the divine realm in the afterlife. ... The idea of Hell, however, is shrowded behind the image of a certain 'Dantes Inferno', and personally, I don't think Dante actually ment for his work to be thought of in the way it is by many.

More likely, Hell would resemble the old Hebrew belief in a realm known as Sheol, which was a dark place shrowded in the blackness of death. An emptiness where souls fall throughout eternity.

I think that this will be one question that no one will ever be able to answer. Since there is really no way to show verifable proof of any exsitance beyond this life. I really hate to say this, but its a lot like asking if there is a God. There is no proof. We may dream about it, but we can't call that proof. I'm sorry if I piss off anyone.

I believe that we do go somewhere and then reborn again,.. I was always told that there is a heaven and a hell by my parents, but as i've gotten older, i'm starting to wonder if what they say is true or not. Although, there is exercisms. which they say is demons possessing ones own body, so if theres demons, then wouldn't that mean that there is a hell, and a heaven as well?

Well at the end of the day it's something we'll never know. Death is death and it always has been and will probably always be a mystery to us.

The most important argument for reincarnation is of a moral nature. According to karma, there is no forgiveness for the "sins" of the past, but only accumulation of karmic debt, followed by paying the consequences in further lives.

I believe in reincarnation, but not in the respect that karma really has very much to do with it. I'm also under the firm belief that if you truely believe something, that is what will happen to you, whether it is reincarnation, heaven, hell or anything else. I think you get the choice, to go to heaven/hell, or to be reincarnated (if you were going to go to hell, maybe you could redeem yourself or vice versa) and when you get to that heaven/hell place, you can choose to be reincarnated at certain points. Though time is not linear so i don't have an explaination for that yet.

Oh my,this is a very good question that can't factly be answered,only opinioniated...but everyone is giving thier believe...well,as for me,it's hard,I'm kinda the person not sure of anything when it comes to heaven or hell,soul goes to heaven or hell,or we just remain in the dirt..I guess,we all have souls and we when die we are judged and our used up body remains in the dirt....

I believe that we map out our lives before we come here...we plan our karma to help us with our growing process. ..it is up to us how we handle each event in our life. ..hopefully we learn from the experinces & move forward. I also believe in reincarnation...I think we leave here & our soul rests till it is ready to return for more karma.

It is my personal belief in a magnanimous God. I believe when we die, our soul goes to heaven where we have a life review. In the review we are able to feel what our actions or inactions caused other people. We see the missed opportunites we were given to help others. We then make our own assessment of our life. I do not believe in Hell perse, but rather an absence of joy or "life" of anykind...a kind of "non-existence", if you will.

Heaven and Hell both exist, but both are different for every person sent to either place. Hell isn't all fire and brimstone, it could be a tall building for someone who is afraid of heights, for example.

Ya know niteowl47 I always thought that. Each person would be sent to there own illusion of hell. Some may be afraid of spiders so there go to a place covered in them. Some have fear of the dark so there stuck in darkness etc. Great insight.

wow, lots of beliefs! I can see how each could be true but myself I do believe in a heaven and hell where the people will be judged based on the life they lived.

I believe in the river styxx and going into hell but the problem is I believe hell is just a passing plane like a transfer and hell is the machine you go through in order to go onto another place whether it be hell, heaven, or to be reborn into a new life.

I believe that reincarnation is likely and that what you do in one life can fallow you to the next.

I believe in heaven and hell. But I also believe in the different levels sort of thing. Like with heaven, I believe that if you did all the right thing's you will go, but if you haven't made peace with yourself or others, you will be stuck in a heaven that isn't your own. By becoming at peace, you are allowed to make your own heaven, and have what you want there.

im suppose to believe in heaven and hell. i do but not like churchy people believe it to be. i believe that heaven is a place that you feel safe. maybe its a picture that you saw or even someplace off a tv show.mine would probly be out in the country with wide open spaces with my 2 dogs. we would just be together forever again. and the only way that you will go to hell is if you take your life by choice. my view on hell is the place you hate the most. not just a lot of fire burning you 24/7 but more like something that really hurt you. mine would probly me a car under water or being locked in a small room with no windows or doors with bugs all around me.

I'm a firm believer in reincarnation. I also believe in Karma. I tend to think of it on a broad scale. Rather than one lifetime effects only the next, the effects multiply (for good or bad) over all of a souls lifetimes.

I believe in reincarnation. But I believe that you only get reincarnated if you haven't fullfilled your purpose in life. After that I believe you go to the Summerland, a form of heaven, if your soul is good, and if your soul is bad I believe you are condemned to some form of Hell.

I don't believe so much in reincarnation as I do believ that a part of our soul is passed on to our children and they onto there children and then we are reborn as relative of ourselves. The closer the rebirth to the death the more attuned we are with the past lives, the farther apart the rebirth the less in tune we are. That may explain why we may feel we remember or have experinces certain things from the past but not all things. I know it has a ton of holes in it as far as theories go but it may be the beginnings to some explaination.

I tend to cling to what I was taught...heaven and hell. I don't really like that idea too much, but it's not mine to say. Sometimes, I wish that when I die, I'm just dead...gone forever, no more, period, paragraph.

I don't know. I've often wondered if life ever truly ends anyway, as long as we're remembered. I feel the people I've lost, almost as if they were here, but maybe in a different room, with a locked door that I just don't have the key to.

I must say that i truly havent figured out where i will go. I havent found the answer to the questions i ask, and my athiesm doesnt help. I do believe there are things out there that are unexplainable, no matter through what scientific experiments you put it through. So, another world? Life after death? That must be up to the person that chooses. To die, or live yet again.

I myself believe in recarnation. There are those with old souls and other are new souls.

I believe in reincarnation..the only thing that dies is this shell..we call a body..the spirit, entity moves on..

I will say that, of course, I am not completely sure of where we go when we die, but I really want to believe in Heaven and hell. That those who respected life of all kinds find themselves forever surrounded by loved ones from the past and the great minds of the past.
I think this should be true because of how crappy life can be at times. Why suffer so long here to to go into nothingness, or worst only another life.

when i died i went to purgatory where i never aged but i could hear nothing,feel nothing,and i just slept
but my mom brought me back so i am gratefull that i awakened fully on that night

I believe that once we die we are directed to our final destination and the way we live our life determines just where we are routed...

I think we never really do leave, and we just hover until we take over another being.

Or maybe we just die and nothing happens and your life is just over....

I've seen many different religions, and I do believe in God however. My personal experiences, I believe our souls remain in our bodies, resting till judgement day. Thats me however. There's other ideas I like too.. but this one stands out to me for some reason.
