anyone else have an experience with a spirit companion out there?

i've never actually seen a post on this topic before so i thought i'd throw it out there and see what would come back.

I think I have spirits that are always with me! I'm not sure how much they guide me tho! I know I have had some really hard moments & I kinda think by things that I have seen that maybe they were there & helped me with it!

well I have what I consider a spirit irritant, not sure i'd call him a companion tho

most spirit companions are used basically in native tribes most indian tribes have a belief in what is known as a spirit guide that is with them all there lives then when it is time for them to depart this world there guide comes and shows them the way

i suggest if you want to learn more about it either pick up some books about spirit guides , or even books about spirituality itself they often mention spirit guides or companions within them

If I understand what you are asking then I guess so in a way. Sometimes I feel a hand on my shoulder when I need guidance and what not.

I feel like somebodys watching me sometimes, but I'm not sure what it is.

Being that I am part Native, it is part of our culture to have spirit guides that help you though life. Sometimes you can see them though visions other times while you are meditating. I have personally have had a wolf walk up to me in a time of hardship, and an eagle follow me as I hiked up a mountainside. In different ways they let is know that we are not alone, or they may have a life lesson to teach.

I often feel a spiritual kinship with others. Sometimes those I am close to but also complete strngers or casual acquaintences.

On a daily basis I talk with spirits, I have some of them who protect me, It's kinda a deep subject, but I totally believe in spirits with us. I have seen more than one.

When I'm looking for guidance in my life, I usually break out my pendulum and try to talk to anything that's currently around me.
I thought for a long time I was talking to something, but I've recently figured out I'm talking to myself in essence. With my pendulum, I can access my inner thoughts and feelings.
Basically my own spirit has been my guide since I can remember.
There have been times though that I've talked to others who are close to me but haven't been reborn. I suppose those classify as spirit companions.

I've talked to many entities, but I can't tell if they were all guides or just simply spirits wanting to be noticed.

I suppose there are many different entities out there.. so who can say for sure. I have met people that I felt an instant connection with, as if I had known them before. I believe them to be my spirit companions. Each time my spirit re-encarnates, the same group of souls sorround it. One who was my mother in one life, could be my brother in the next one. Is that what you are asking?

i actually have 2 spirit companions. 1 would be my uncle & the other is my spirit guide, my wolf. both can be annoying at times but each are more inclined to be there for me when i need it though

I don't know if you would call it a spirit companion or not...
Every since I was a child their has been something there..
Not really a figure or someone you can see. But a feeling , a shadow, a light .. And it is with me everywhere i go..
I have moved several times. and it is always every where that i move to ..
It has never caused any harm , it is just there. Wether for protection or whatever the reason may be.

if that is what you meant than yes i do. i have for a couple years now. they tend to be a pain sometimes but that's okay. they have always helped me when i need it the most.

I have a few they watch over me at different times for different reasons

Sometimes I feel like I'm being watched and that the being is protecting, gaurding me. And then I get an image of a stag. But that could be a Harry Potter influence.

I admit I've felt what I consider a guiding hand in my life at different times. Usually when some kind of descision was needed that could cause major life changes. I never really got a feeling of a specific person or creature even just a nudge sometimes.

I have two spirit guides who are always with me. :) I have a panther and a black bear. I also have a few...guardian angels I guess too (even though I don't consider them "angels" per se).

I forgot to add, my son talks to his granpa all the time, they even eat together, I know he is young and still in tune with that kind of thing, but I wonder is he will still be able to do that when he gets older.

most people lose the ability because society teaches them that this is abnormal.....so they close it off themselves, my family always taught me to be an open minded person

If you teach your son to embrace the fact he can talk to this spirit, then chances are he'll keep on doing it.
Society will influence whether they deny that gift in the long run, because I can't see too many people understanding such a concept, even nowadays.
But so long as he's opened his mind to the fact that he can feel this presence, and he doesn't reject it, I'm sure it will stick around with him.

when i have had some close calls with death, is the only time i have ever felt a spirit companion

as i have gotten hurt many times or other instances where i was almost killed, well in these times i have had an odd sense of not being alone and since i broke my neck in 97 i have felt an odd sense of my dead grandmother watching over me and helping me get through these difficult times

I think each and everyone of us has some type of spirit, whether we choose to see ot not, some believe in fate, others in destiny, but there is an inevitable force regardleess that directs us all in some form which road to take.

I can't speak myself, but my siblings and my children have all seen and felt the presence of my mothers companion..whom we all know and love as he was my step father. At one point has has gone so far as to make the lights and alarm go off on my mothers car while driving down the interstate and even making the car go dead....and she found out minutes later there was a huge pile up straight ahead. If her companion hadn't given her a warning she wouldn't still be with us. We love him dearly. And there have been many suchhappenings from him before and after this incident.

I believe i do have a spirit companion. I have had a few bumps in my life but i seem to get throught them. No person helps me yet i feel that someone is. I also wished on a flying star and prayed and got my wish.

my native american friend darkseleene told me once that there is a wolf spitit that helps me in bad times so i have to say wolf

I have a number of spirit guides, my closest is the Hawk. If ever I am in a bad position I see him in the air flying towards the solution.

Yes, there is one in particular that as a child actually scared me. It has a very strong presence, and because of that I didn’t understand why it seemed to always be around me. As I grew up, different experiences I had lead me to understand what this was about, and more of the why. While I do not feel their presence as strongly these past few years, I am still aware of them when they come and go.

I have a spirit companion called elleria. She is a pixie. I hardly ever speak of her cos um I don;t want to sound nuts.~NFA

I cant really say that i have a Spirit Companion... I do know that i have several Spirits aroud me often... For me its a Deep feeling within... Being aware of a presence around me sometimes... I was very close to my Great Grandmother... It was very hard when she died... I often know and Feel that She is around Me and i know she is definitly around my Daughter... I've had several experiences with spirit companions. My most recent experience has been with hawks; the day my father passed away in March, I saw a hawk flying high up in the sky and I just knew it was my father.

I believe every person has spirit companions. Whether or not you are able to communicate with them is determined by how open you are to recieving them.

As many children do I had an "imaginary" friend when I was small. My mother fostered the idea by acknowleding her, even setting her a place at the dinner table. This simple act has led to a lifetime of accepting what most people choose to ignore. We are not alone on this plane, if we only "tune in" there is much guidance to be recieved.

Every time I have a tough question to answer a raven flies overhead. I feel at peace and come to my answer more assured it is the correct one. The experience that impacted me the most was swimming with sea turtles and a wild pod of spinner dolphins off the coast of Oahu. I have never felt more at peace and unafraid. I will never forget the wisdom contained in their eyes.

my entire clan has several spirits, and actually every one has at least one spirit wether thgey believe it or can sense it or not is the question

A close member of my family, once had familiar. He had it for sometime, it was a constaint companion, but when it was killed he felt it. He never cast a spell again after that. I don't know if that is the same as a spirit companion though. If not, can someone clarify for me. Thanks....Hot

my paranormal expiriences are really limited when i was younger i used to see my grandmother who was dead and of whom ive never met but i knew she was my grandmother somehow.

I believe in familiars and on many occasions at least my oldest cat Tiger has helped me and knows when I need help spiritually and physically.

Seriously, must be something hanging around the house because the cats are always staring at some non-existent (to me) thing, mostly up towards the ceiling....very weird and creepy when they do that. ...if only humans were as gifted as our animal friends with their senses *sigh*

I was told the younger you are the more you can see the super or unnatural things. Now that Im older I still see these things, I believe I did not lose my abilities because I still practice everything I did when I was younger.

well spirit companions are offent seen in children. like when a child has an imaginary friend he/she could be really seeing something. your spirit guid will try and keep on the right path for you as long as you believe in it.

I guess my spirits abandoned me long time ago. But, when I was 8 years old, and to my 19 years old, I had one, that spoke to me. Not really words, but sounds. I used to hear my mother crying... or some noises. There was a very difficult time at my chilhood. And this "presence" always gave me some peace. When I heared to it, I knew what I must do. And worked all right.

I have felt like someone was touching me on the shoulders and also get the sense of being watched... have seen light or shadows when being alone.

I don't know about being a companion but I do know that when I was younger and having a rough time in life, I saw my grandfather on a regular basis and he helped me through a lot of times that I wouldn't have survived through on my own. It has been a few years since I have seen him but I always feel as if he is near. =]

when i was 10 i went exploring with my friend in this one place near where we live and we found two doggie paws and than afterwards i saw it at random times and sometimes id hear it barking and once when i was watching tv heard barking then i felt as if a dog was licking my hand. i looked down but i didnt see anything. after a year i guess it got tired of me ignoring it and i havent seen him since then

I have never had one- but I think my daughter did when we lived in this rental house while she was really small. She called it Fifi- on one particular night we had some friends over. My husband and one of the friends had been in the basement. When they came up stairs my husband locked both locks on the door (it opened to the inside of the stairs- if you leaned against the door you would fall) Our friend double checked the locks. A bit later my daughter who was about 2 at the time kept talking about FiFi and the stairs. We finally got up to see what she was upset about- we followed her to the kitchen and she came to a dead stop in the middle of the room- she refused to walk any further. The basement door was standing wide open- both locks that had just been checked by 2 guys were undone. I think FiFi looked after her that night. Was really strange...

Spriit companions would exsplain some of the invisible friends people (mostly kids) have. They seem to know things that they couldn't possibly know and people remember them in there old age. Hard to be but down as fake when the memories last that long.

i'm native american i belive that there are spirts all around us and to have a spirt make it self known is not good

I totally beleive in spirit companions. When I am in danger I feel them around me as if they are trying to strengthen me.

You can seal them,summon them,you need certain methods of knowledges about them,
their crest,their symbol,their time and area.
This is not like flesh companions as subject

There was a spirit that was in my bedroom for a long time that I didn't start talking to till I was older. After I communicated, she would sit on my bed with me and hold my hand when I would cry or feel scared.

Every single day.......they are guiding influence in my life.....they talk to me when I sleep and warn me when things are going bad......

Ever since i was a little girl i have had guide's . i would love to develop skill's to be able to converse with them.
i have had paranormal exp to some good and some not so good. I know that at the lowest times in my life i have asked for help with situation's and i have recived the help i needed as if a mirical had been performed...

several. most everyone in the clan not only has 1 but usually 2 or 3 spirit dragons gaurding them their family and their homes.

i have a spirit companion it is my twin brother who was still born he helps me threw things when i have no one else to turn to for a situation

Actually I do have a spirit companion, my little sister. She was my best friend in life and the only person that actually had an understanding of things beyond what the eyes see. Anyway she was hit by a car and taken to hospitol. While there waiting for word, my sister told me that she had died, couple of mins later the Dr came out and said that she was gone, and it struck me funny as she was standing right there beside me, no ones else saw her. Ever since she has been with me everyday helping me the way she always has, just being there.

They say that everyone has their own spirit guide but if we are taking the term 'companion' as meaning someone who accompanies you rather than guides you, I believe mine is my first cat.

my mom still talks about this to this day....as a child,I had an Indian friend or "spirit companion". Unfortunately, with age....I have last this friend. I have a three year old little girl that seems at times to play with an entity that I nor anyone else can see.

I don't have one personally that I can feel or see. But I do believe we all have spirits around us, guiding, protecting..urging us. Things like that.

everyone has their own version of a spirit comanion.
mine however is mostly birds and other creatures of flight like the crane,owl,eagle,hwake,dragon,and osprey.
so in reality the spirit guid/compainion chooses the person not the other way around so that they may guide the individual through lifes many challenges and if so help them when they need them the most.they are always with us please respect them in whatever form they choose to appear before you.

My personal Spirit Guide is a Merlin Hawk. Every time I do any type of vision quest he is there. Whenever things have gone really wrong in my life, I look out my window and there is a hawk outside. As if to reassure me that things will get better. I know that this spirit has chosen me as a companion.
I also help people get in touch with their own spirit guides through guided meditation. Once you make that initial connection, you can communicate with them at any time (provided that you are good at meditating).

I know I have spirit guides with me all the time. Being native we do beleive in that. I have felt a touch heard a voice and seen things that give me messages that mine is with me. We also beleive in spirit animals that have the same gifts and characterisitics that we share. I have never felt alone and when Im in need they come to help me. My mother spirit animal is a butterfly and when Im down and out it never fails that I have one around me.

My Spirit companion is the female wolf. She watches over me and gives me guidance in troubled times.


I also have a feeling that my father still travels with me, to keep an eye on me, I would call him a spirit companion as well.

I do feel my spirit guide with me. I don't know who they are, but I also feel animal spirits, I believe my animal spirit is an elephant.~CapriAl

Yesssssss ....my parent's they were killed by a drunk driver in 98" and i know they are with me all the time for instance ....i was driving on freeway and ya know how you just have to answer your cell if it ring's? Well i went to answer mine and my foot jerked off gas "Right" as it did i felt someone's go on the gas and i was like ok..i pulled off to the side to gather myself i knew it was my mom i could smell her perfume real strong.....then another time i had just lost baby and was really thinking of taking my own life. As i was in total depression i even went out bought brand new gun cause if i was doing it i was gonna do it right as i drank and drank to get the courage up i am sitting there pulled the gun out and cocked it and was gonna do it and it jammed ..now this is brand new gun ......then i could smell the apple tob.. that my dad used to put in his pipe to smoke ....so yes i believe in this very strongly ......

Ravens Blood, you bring up a great point. I also was a bit unclear on whether or not the original question was about spirit guides, or spirit companions, though it really makes not difference as i can talk about both.

I agree that a spirit companion is one who merely accompanies you, attaches itself to you; while that spirit guide serves as that very function, a guide to you.
For myself, I have been visited by my late father numerous times, especially when I was working on an issue. I also am visited by my Wife's Paternal Grandparents. They also seem to come when I am needing guidence. I think most of all, they make me feel comforted, and I know that there is someone out there looking out for my wife and I.

hmmm companion...well i wouldnt say that they are with me every waking moment but i do have a presence around me alot of the times i am down ...its comforting

not all the times are the spirits that contact you companions... iv had a conversation with one once and he didnt know me at all... some spirits just like your aura or are supposed to stay with you. so i was told. the spirit told me that it depends on peoples religions and he wasnt going to tell me any more.

sometimes when i'm having a hard time i can feel like there's someone there with me and i feel slightly calmer afterwards.

I think that when it comes to the "Paranormal" or occult, much of what you see comes from what you have been exposed to via religion (or spirituality) and culture.

I have two spirits that are almost always with me and i have talk to a few more.

Well I have spirit experiences but would not call them companions. They come and go and at times offer me comfort.

I've had an experience once. It was when I was at my house and me and my stepdad were watching tv when my mom cellphone went off knowing that she was at work, but we looked and thought maybe she forgot it. Then we called her on her cellphone and she answer saying the phone was with her the whole time. But me and my stepdad both heard her ringtone go off so I know we're not crazy. And my little sister who is three she is watched be my stepdad during the day and she will play with her "friends" and when ever I ask her her friend's name she always says "Rena" and it's weird because she calls her her girlfriend and they play together. And my stepdad says he hears kids jumping on my bed when he is downstairs and no one else is home.....

Yes, my lords and ladies, all of us, at some point have a spirit companion, whether they are elementals or other spiritual beings, even our own familiars ,

Communication with those beings is an easy matter, to some, it only needs a thought, or an emotion to summon them, depending of our affinities, we might call on daemons , or nature spirits to guide us and protect us .

I have one, or many, depending on how I see it, the shadows are there to guide me, and so is the night .

I believe I have said this once before, yes I believe I have a spirit companion, I believe it is my grandfather. He keeps me sane sometimes and helps me through some of the tough times in my life.

My spirit guides I have a few the eagle the wolf and the hawk. They have taught me well, though life experiences.

I myself have never really had a spirit companion that I know of. But sometimes i do feel like there is someone there beside it. I find it rather comforting though. So i guess you could say that i do have a spirit companion.

I would agree with Daermon. My spirit is more of an annoyance than anything else.

i have thought of something a little bit strange, call me weird but when i was a child i had an immaginary friend, and i know children see things much differently than adults i was thinking that many imaginary friends children have could actually be spirits, ghosts or angels

there is a small boy who follows my family evertime we move. he was noticed by my son when he was a baby. now he talks to the boy.

How do you know this entity isn't malevolent or dangerous to you or those around you? Just because some little dude or cute animal pops in front of you during some dream state does it really mean they are to aid you?

Also with this in mind are there just people wandering around the afterlife waiting to aid anyone that comes around?

i am part american indian and i have met both my spirt guide and my spirt animal both help me in times of need

Big yup on this one! I have a spirit companion I have had since I was little and i believe he was my Mum's as well. I call him Gothy*grins* but I believe his real name to be Nickovich.Whenever I am stressed or upset, I always seem him out of the corner of my eye.Or I can meditate and he will usually come.

My advise is don't make companions with creatures from other worlds. Than I never had any spirit companion and I want not to have.

My spirit companions are my mother and father. They are with me alot.

Most Spirit guides are animals in the native traditions people "ghost" rarely do anything but haunt and cause sickness..
The other people here seem to have close realitives doing the guiding.
Yes malevolent or dangerous have been known to mislead people and often to hurt them these are trickster spirirts some of which have been very bad..No I do not believe the dead just sit around waiting for someone to guide.
The spirit animals are a different kind of spirit they are pure spirits of nature and how to put it, it is there role to guide in dreams and during daily life the people they attach themselves to.
I am not a native american although due to my scotish ancestry I am very drawn to the native people of america and have learned a lot about there traditions and deeply respect them.
I also have a spirit guides a Red Tailed Hawk and a Black Bear......

I have several spirit guides in my life. The most prelevant one for me is the wolf. It always makes itself known to me in ways that I cannot discount as mere coincidence. Others have been the gray squirrel, cougar, hawk, and turtle. They are there to help you on your life journey with whatever you may have need of. I am thankful for these guides for without them I would surely be lost.

That still doesn't answer my question on how to know that they aren't trying to mislead you or do you harm.

I am very aware of Native American spirit guides some of them are the Coyote or the Spider two known tricksters that can shapeshift.

Well I did try here. They could be some spirits that mean to do harm but I would tend to look at them as ghosts not a spirit in the native traditions is what I was getting at.
I guess it would be a matter of symantics here is anything else....
I do believe ghosts can mean you harm and often do harm people as for nature spirits no I don't think they can harm you as they are a part of us. They are a manifestation of ourselves in animal form....

Just the real key theme here seems to be that no one really understands how to identify the differences between the two. Thus I am making the point are spirit guides really to be trusted?
