Most of us should be a familiar with some form of Role playing game.
The idea is that you asume a characters role playing through events.
Be this in Chess, Poker, Yu Gi Oh, Pokemon, VTM cards, Magic the Gathering, Clow cards.
You watch the television shows Card Capture Sakura, Shaman King, Yu Gi Oh, Charmed
The game structures of Rifts, Sword & Sorcery, Dungons & Dragons, Buffy, Serentiy, Mage the Awakening, Mage Dark ages, Mage the Ascention, Vampire the masquerade, Dark ages vampire, Vampire the Dark ages, Victorian age vampire, Vampire the Requiem (vomits),
The point I make is this. Ritual magick works by the process of assuming an archetype. A Godhead or what have you, you call down a diety, you work with your energies in an organized system that you are trained with that mirrors the real world, to Create a world that you desire, thereby causing the effects.
Role playing games do this in a "harmless" manner. They provide training for Chaos mages to be, Ritual magicians who get used to assuming the roles of the forces they later employ in their works, and so on.
So my question to you? Is that despite the flawed histories, and the Fantastic senarios, they can be made to mimic events allowing for a run through, a practice for the real thing. As well as providing a system where one can learn the needed basics to become more skilled.
I have found this to be an effective way to play a good game, grow as a mage, and have interesting social interactions. However where does this end in the grand scheme of things? Do you make use of your Yu Gi Oh cards as mediums for Servitors? Your magic the gathering deck a useful meditation and ritual tool when you are on the go?
What methods do you find that you have learned from such structures that helped you refine your practices? Giving you the foundations that you would have other wise been lacking?
People say that vampires don't exist? People have spent years developing, researching, and creating systems in "worlds" that parrallel our own. So why not make use of some of the basic tools that these people have gone through the trouble of providing for us?
here are a couple links, despite the obvious christian overtones for the negitive uses of such things, If they see them for what they are, they why don't they get applied as such?

extra quotes to add:
Author of The Spiral Dance and founder of the "Covenant of the Goddess" she taught her followers that,
"To work magic is to weave the unseen forces into form, to soar beyond sight, to explore the uncharted dream realm of the hidden reality... to leap beyond imagination into that space between the worlds where fantasy becomes real; to be at once animal and god...
Spells [and magic]... require the combined faculties of relaxation, visualization, concentration, and [mental] projection... To cast a spell is to project energy through a symbol."7
and another:
"This message theorizes that man is the counterpart of God on earth; as God is man's counterpart in heaven. Therefore, it is a statement of an ancient belief that man's actions on earth parallel the actions of God in heaven. ...
"To the magician the magical act, that of causing a transformation in a thing or things without any physical contact, is accomplished by an imaginative act accompanied by the will that the wanted change will occur. The magical act and imaginative act becomes one and the same. The magician knows with certainty that for the change to occur he must will it to happen and firmly believe it will happen....
"To bring about such a change, the magician uses the conception of 'dynamic interconnectedness' to describe the physical world as the sort of thing that imagination and desire can effect. ... Mind and body, galaxy and atom, sensation and stimulus, are intimately bound. Witchcraft strongly imbues the view that all things are independent and interrelated....
"The purpose of all rituals in ceremonial magick is to unite the microcosm with the macrocosm to join God, or gods when invoked, with the human consciousness. When such a supreme union is achieved the subject and object becomes one. This is because the magician feels that he is consciously in touch with all elements of the universe, therefore, he can control them.... This feeling intensifies the more the magician successfully practices his skills.
"When feeling unison with the universe the magician knows he has reached his Higher or True Self because he has attained mastery of himself and the universe. Thus he...receives the power of the superiors and of the inferiors.' Therefore, he 'hast the glory of the whole world." 9
Speaking as a one who used to play (look kinda strange now that I am almost 40) I didn't view PRG's as a means for accomplishing this but just a social tool to be with my friends.
I have read others in other threads, mostly from you and FelixX2, that you use anything as a focus for your magic. So I guess in that vein, this could conceivably be used as well as anything else to set the stage.
Yes, i forget who said "all life is a stage and we are merely players for our part"
It is in that mind, that I will take anything this world gives me to increase my skills with the occult realms, the arcane sciences as to the hows, and whys' to support my own obersvations.
But aside from the obvious positive methods for social interaction, despite the near fanatical overtones to the ones who don't agree that anything that stirs our being to change is an act of magicks, that we can be stimulated by anything that we find that moves us, while having a bit of fun?
i use to play d&d quight a bit when i was back in school i think it was mostly a thing we all used to spend time with ower friends and to get away from all the stuff that was going on in life
if you think about rpgs are other ay to jump into the unknown...it a way for people to be a witch or vamp, were etc without being one. they can be these other things and then go back to there real lives. because if someone that plays a vanpire in a rpg meets a real vampire most off them will freak out
I agree completely. I've played White Wolf, Dungeons and Dragons, and many others, and the rule mechanics are no different than runes or tarot, except that they're more complex. They're based so on realism, because they started as wargames, meant to mimis real life situations and a way to save lives without casualties. As far as meditating on Yu-Gi-Oh cards, I think I'll pass...
Games ....can be instructive, destructive and everything inbetweenl
I find them relaxing...without looking for deeper meanings.
Ok to start I play yugioh now and magic the gathering i am also a 8 to 9 year vampire the masqurade larper(live action role play)
if you take these as anymore then a game then there is something seriously wrong in my opnion. They are ment only for fun hence why they were created.
They in no ways other then the rules characters and special powers installed into each seperate game have really any fabrication to such said magicks.
Over all yugioh and magic the gathering to start things off is a kids game, Yes some adults play them usually to have a bond with their children so they and their kids can do something together and forget having a role of father. My best friend is like this with yugioh for his step daughter.
Magic the gathering states in rules its just a game(my sympathy for any who have been killed by an ornithopter)
as for vampire the masqurade there has been so many perversions of this game ment only as a stress reducer leaver of reality when things get too intense in real life situations, Hence you then get the stero typical im a vampire i play a game hog wash.
And I have read articles and seen criminal intent documentaries depicted of certain people getting so involved they would goto high schools and prey on the seduction that most girls have and convince them to join a vampire coven based off the game and him try to convert the girl only to get stopped by the cops before her death.
For those instances I think games like that should be for the mature of minds who wont take things out of context. Its a game simple put it states in the rules no physical contact and such.
Now being a recovering larp addict I can tell ya first hand its addictive, going hanging with people having a good laugh and time, pretending your not you and the things in your life are fantasy, and that what you are right now a blood sucker or garou or mage.Someone who has almost full control of their life with out the true legal ramifications of taxes rent and having to deal with actual people, oh and the hardship of trying not to talk about it all the time since you are having alot of fun with it.
rpging isnt for everyone if it was the world would honestly other then those few rule benders or magic marker Ill throw a new power here, the world would be at peace cause we would all be too dorky and nerdy to do anything else LOL.
(this is just my opinion based on what was typed please dont take it as an argumentive statement)
I like that Total immersion virtual reality game where they first erase your memory, so they only reality you know is that of the game, and they insert false memories of an artificial childhood, so you think you have been in it all your life.
Depends on where you live tommy. Mostly its friend of a friend sorta thing, get together with guys that are already playing and go from there.
Its alot of fun gaming, and working off not just stress but agrivation at people etc. Its generally a great way to relax and yet be productive for something harmless....
Taking it to the extremes mentioned above, not a good idea. However a viable course for study in chaos magick.
Indeed
very relaxing if its with the right group
the wrong group can make it more stressful then a 80 hour week job
or the most annoying friend you put up with
however it in statis is one of the best ways to let your anger pain's and everything lose
as long as you keep in mind it is a game and not real so dont get sad if you die in the game or lose a piece of paper and so forth
It is tempting to dismiss this thread as embracing the kind of logic that says that Mel Gibson movies help us to understand history better... but buried deep within that skewed view is a sincere expression of the merits of positive reinforcement by drawing upon the inner wisdom of creative works such as yu-g-oh that themselves drew upon deep seated subconscious creative impulses... stories have been used this way before... for example the story of Cinderella was designed to communicate to the initiated that they should look forward to an enlightened age when the evil stepmother of the catholic church would be left behind in a new era of free thinking...
hahah so true
there are flaws and merits to each of these games
and it up to us to keep the flaws lessened, so that the merits of these games are truly shown
I agree, take from these games by all means "absorb what is useful" but don't build belief systems around them....
Saying that RP is a gateway to mysticism of any kind is like saying that Santa is a gateway to spirituality in western culture.
hahaha
yeah, they really are only a gateway into fun escape and enjoyment as I stated in my first post on this. taking them as anything but games is rather ridiculous
The methods of servitor creation are the same almost to a T, except that you play your character almost as you would assume a godhead. Instead of sending it out to do the tasks. The godhead/archtypal energy you use is employed to solve the problem just as in ritual format.
Even though you play it as a game, Employing the same methods in your ritual magicks would be useful, having practiced this asumption of role in rpg games.
I can semi understand where your coming from on this
however the only amount of energy really spent on this for most people not all cause some are different
the only energy truly exerted is that of created it and being able to completely forget who you are and things you would or wouldnt do because at that point in like vampire you are not you
in card games its a more extreme and harder game of risk with more rules and more abilities
It is a different perspective on role-playing and I enjoyed it...
The mechanics used in roleplaying are based on the fictional aspects of the subjects that they claim to be about, if you want to build on what you can do then any "tool" based on fiction will only send you in the opposite direction. Especialy whitewold and the masquerades claims about vampires, there isnt a single accurate thing to that on vampires.
I can kind of unerstand the point you are trying to make. Yet having created a RPG before and working on a second. I find it difficult to concieve that they ae little more than entertainment. Yet I will say this. Where many will say that it is just a game and that they are playing only characters I say that you build a character that is more to your subconciouse nature than you realize. You won't play a character you don't feel like. Someone who plays an assassin is not going to turnaround and begin playing a cowerdly priest. The relaxation of the game may open up creative energy. And it may open up the subconciouse to your more honest character. But basis for actual magick. I tend to agree with acouple of the others with a more sceptical opinion. Even for myself. lol
I was an avid chess player as well as D&D but I used both as a social tool and Mental floss of the imagination and art of deception (chess). I never intertwined it with my Raising of deity or desire within the craft
I think they are ok as long as they are viewed as games
they are truly for the ppl that have time and the imagination for it
I use to roleplay and still do rpg, why? cause I see it as an extentions of what my mind can and would accomplish, I see it as an oportuniy to explore my possibilties, without any restrictions.
Why not build a belief system around a game? nobody builds a belief system around something real. real things don't need belief, so it's a total waste of time and faith believing in them. who would build a religion about chairs? would your ass fall to the floor if you stopped believing in them? no. only unreal things need belief. that's why we believe in gods, aliens, monsters, politics, and money.
I do get Infernal's point, and agree wholeheartedly. Rp is a way to manifest in a way said diety. You are assuming said role no matter what game, as an invocation without conflicting with the real. This is my opinion.
HA!!! lol I love my RPG and MMORPG (Massive multiplayer online role playing games) games >.< lol so NO COMMENT lol
RPG's in any form are great fun to watch...I have only participated once...but my Wife (best friend) ROle plays Alot. =]
I love to read hers. =].
Always found it a little overrated because people really sink their lives to this stuff.
I was stuck on World of Warcraft like at least an hour a day!
People do seem to get a bit umm. too into these games. Or should I say obsessed?
I played D&D back in the Day. We had so much fun. Hour after Hour. Some times all nighters. It was a great way to socialize.
people who RP tend to get VERY into it...and that can either be good or bad....as long as when you are done playing you remember it is only a game
I used to role-play with friends also when I was younger, and I did take the values I learned in the RPGs and apply some of them to the real world. In a way it helped me be the person I am today. Now I wouldn't recommend everyone do this, but if you feel it would benefit you, by all means go for it. :)
we all have are way to express our self and i think this rpg i a good way to do it indeed
To me rpg's are just that games, they are something to do to pass the time, i never really thought of them as anything else but games...
This thread has on it's own, just about thrown the RPG culture back into the 80s paranoia.
They are just games. They are not training for anything except having fun!
Yes, I too am a gamer geek...played D&D, VTM, Mage, WoW, and all that stuff. I find that there are some VERY well researched and thought-out game worlds out there that very much do parallel our own, especially from WW. I see so many vamps getting all bent out of shape about the use of "gamer" words and terminology, but that vocab was based upon what was actually used by the vampire/Darkling population at the time. The social strictures are a playable and standardized fancification of what really was or is out there. I see newer vampires Orders creating new words and names for the exact same things to escape the use of RPG vocab. And there are Orders who are essentially Wiccans with teeth for all that thier rituals are EXACTLY the same, except that they have changed some words around.
Just because something is popular does not mean it is invalid. Just because it makes good fiction does not mean it does not carry great truth. Just because it is fun to play at does not mean it does'nt mirror life. And what better "cover" than to say..."Oh, that's an RPG thing, it's just for fun." ;) How's that for keeping up the Masquerade in plain sight?
In my opinion, RPG's are nothing more than a more sophisticated version of "Lets Pretend"
I never saw a reason to read any more into them than that.
P.S.: I never thought of chess as an RPG, but you know something? You do have a point there...
I think I see where you're going with this...let me see if I can break it down to my very tired brains level of thinking: Basically, couldn't an RPG be used as a medium for actual magickal practices. I hope I'm right.
Well, let's see. I personally have never tried to accomplish casting flare with the actual hope of blinding someone I don't like. I know that the way my dad makes us (myself, my brother, and his friends) play D&D, it can take our characters days to prepare a spell depending on level of our character, availablity of physical elements needed and current events (such as are we in the middle of a battle). So, that really wouldn't be efficient in real life.
I guess if you wanted to base your magick loosely on something like D&D or something reguarding vampires like it's presented in the World of Darkness...you could. I mean, there's nothing wrong with saying "I'm a Gangrel" or "I'm a Ventrue"...just don't expect to achieve the same abilities as your RPG character...at least not without a LOT of training and years of practice.
let me say this and be done with it i cannot stand rprs they take alot of fiction mix it with a few facts and make a mockary of true vampiric history to me they have no life so the ingrose themselves in fantasey to make themselves feal better about there life
I'm not so sure about RPGs in a useful way.
I love RPGs, don't get me wrong, but many people really find them addictive and get wrapped up in them.
I know somebody around my area who got so wrapped up in them that he actually believed he was some creature that obviously did not exist in the way that he thought he was.
I actually enjoy RPG, if there are creative and well thought out and have a good cast of characters
Emeleth and LovesEternal
You both hit the nail on the head.
As for you others who lack the value in seeing how things separate you from life, such as a ritual gnosis or getting tied up in a game. Well thats for you in another life perhaps, or not at all.
Great posts ladies thanks for your responses.
I think people like rpg because they are fun to play, and they get them away from reality for a while...
But the same for ritual work and gnosis.
Only the energy generated from a "high energy game" is lost because of the lack of focus. Where the energy from a ritual with the same amount of people is released to its particular end.
I mean. On could call their watchtower, call their elemental gaurdians, call their lady and their lord, and assume the archetypes that are representation of the celestials. And direct them to their work, be it through a dance, a play, or the great rite.
Then you have im gonna use white wolf, cause im most familiar with that system.
You have the prince, you have the sheriff, the harpie, the primogens, you have these archetypes which are old words to describe the same function as is used in real life rites, and ceremonies of high magickal societies.
So whats wrong with having your players work for your ends in an rpg format, when you can accomplish the same thing in a ritual format with the same powers called.
Different names for the same energy.
As stupid as it sounds to most thats alright, its nice to live in a world with your ignorance being your bliss, and using it as a lazy copout, its those few who I care to talk to who understand the possibility of directing their players to their ritualistic ends by compelling the spirit of the game toward a ritual format and so bringing the theme to manifest in real world current.
It's like an analogy; it works to a certain point, but when you get to a serious level of descussion... it becomes cumbersome and a hinderence whose dead weight you should cut away quickly.
It is better to realize that the interrelationship of all things makes such associations possible. The Dichotomy of life is that the more you understand the simpler everything becomes; and the harder it is to explain to those not so enlightened.
A parallel is helpful sometimes to lift someone to a level at which they can begin to grasp the basic concepts.. to awaken them to the realm which they were prevously unaware.
It is like a life preserver ring tha tyou toss to someone who is drowning because they cannot swim or are too exhausted to swim. To someone who swims it is more a hinderance, to someone who cannot... it is breath itself.
*smirk*
For me its been nothing but a social interaction and a way for me to distract myself, from what else is going on in my life at that time. I've never given it more thought then just that.
Role playing is a great way to leave reality and expand your mind and imgination
I still think your looking way too into rpg's however to each their own
its just my opinion a part of us if we get really into a rpg can go about and sometime slip into that character but over all does not an actor for movies or a play do the same thing. find ourselves slipping into an accent or a dialog not of this world?
Okay - are you serious?! While role playing games are a lot of fun - they are a great way to blow off steam and have NOTHING to do with real magic, paganism, Wicca or anything else! they are a good way to open up your imagination, but come on.....
RPGs not magical...
Hmmmm....
I know some that would differ in that thinking, of course I'm just having fun, but a.... Whose to say for sure..
======
But any-who...
Baldur's Gate for PC... Uber-koo...
If you've not played, buy it, before it's gone forever, Neverwinter Nights also GREAT, but both are going fast..
Im sure they could be instructional and maybe help a bit on concentration
I just play because they are fun
i think that it is more for a social interaction between the players and freinds. especially the online games like diablo and diablo 2, world of warcraft, and guild wars.
I love RPG , I also see where your coming from…. You don’t have to change the way the game is made to see the magic in it or the practice, or give it mystical grounds, just like weight training you don’t need a 1000 dolor set just go into the woods n lift fallen logs, same principles apply.
A bit like my shaman work … at first I needed to use drugs to reach altered states (don’t try this kids at home parents freak you out) and visit the spirit world.
Now im able to do it on command and even when not thinking I slip into realms. It has been an issue for a while and events are more like solving a mystery rather than planed.
I made a servitor by mistake, I thought it was my Alister work on doorways and control of daemons…
Since I am not into magic and such, the RPG are my way to escape real life even if only for an hour or so:)
I use the rpg as a way to become someone who I am not even if only for an hr or so it is my escape from the real world and all its troubles
i do agree with you there vulcaran2. it is a totally escape from real time and is thoroughly enjoyable :)
It is enjoyable, but just like with anything, certain individuals will take it to another level, become obsessed and then that is when people can get hurt, both mentally and physically.
As long as it is viewed as what it is, a 'game' there are no problems. When it starts to blend with reality is when there is a problem.
I think roleplaying games are a great way to excape everyday life..instead of smacking your b/f upside the head...smack a few online roleplaying guys..works all the same. lol if they smack back..it won't hurt.
Oh yeah..forgot to add..it's not a good idea to go around smacking people..even online..it's not very nice..and only do it if your playing a action game..not a game like this...ehh...i'v been known to type without thinking..bad habit of mine. :)
Roleplaying is fun...it's a way to expand your imagination and not to mention a stress reliever that takes you away from the stress of the day..It's a way to let your character interact in ways that maybe you can't do in real life but can in the virtual world of RPG....But some people that I have seen cannot learn to keep Roleplay and real life separated ...I've seen people get all bent out of shape over something that was said or if something didn't go their way. It's kind of sad when that happens.. just learn to keep RL separated from RP and have fun with it and don't take it all so seriously.
Role playing games are great. They enrich your imagination and allow a fun interaction with your friends.
I think rpg's are a good stress reliever, i mean you get to fight and do things that a lot of people could not do in real life, but they are just games and nothing more...
well i played RPGs all the time in the eighties - Dragonquest, Paranoia Complex, TMNT, Call of Cthulhu - and it never did me any harm. if you don't believe me, just ask the 9th level demon that possesses me.
WHAT THE MORTAL SAYS IS TRUE - HE IS PERFECTLY NORMAL.
I think role playing games do allow people to increase their understanding and abilities. I'm not one really into role playing games sooo.
If I understand the main post of this thread, the question seems to be whether RPGs can have a larger effect on the players, metaphysically and socially.
To this I would say: That depends upon the skill and personality of your DM more than anything else. Some DM's will reward certain play and punish other types. The socially conscious DM will reward interaction, thought, investigation, and politics, while punishing or at least not rewarding a hack and slash character. So in that respect, you could learn how to interact, think outside the box, and be more of a problem solver.
Metaphysically, I think this only applies well to chaos magic. I suppose there's a level of creative influence that is good for any form of non-physical action including metaphysics or spiritual meditation, but as for helping with actual spell work, or ritual creation, most forms of the arts don't have the leniency or power to absorb new ideas as easily as chaos magic. They have ritual and practice based on history and personality of their pantheon, culture or belief.
I role play for fun, entertainment and socializing. I like creating characters who are like me but different at the same time. They are things I would like to be. I never thought of it as magical or anything more than fun. It is a way to get a break from reality and let your imagination run wild. I am very into creative writing and to me it is like an interactive book. Which is why I like it. But I guess everyone has their own opinion. It is the way the world works. It's a very interesting thought too. Especially, since I myself never thought of it that way. I don't know that I agree, but interesting thought.
i think r.p.g are just games as said above time pass, stress relief ect ect
some just get into it so bad that they actually believe whats going on there there
Rpg games for me take me to another world I know they are all fiction but it is way to live throw the eyes of hero , vampire, and other characters that in normal life you wouldnt be able to do that is why I found entertaining and relaxing at the sametime.
I role play quite a lot- it's something that comes into my life quite a lot (even when I'm not specifically role-playing, though thats not always my fault). I mostly play D+D 2nd edition (I don't like 3rd it seems to be very power-player orientated), with a group of my BF's friends. Being the only girl in the group most of the time can be fun, especially when they aren't expecting you to be outspoken. It doesn't help that most male RP'ers I know are pretty shy around other people either.
Basically, I hate the attitude that RPing is a sissy and geeky thing to do. I go to a LARP event and the people there are some of the most fit (physically) people I know. Table-top in my opinion in just something people do when they feel like getting out of their lives for a while- its harmless and really fun once you get off your high horse- as anyone who has really gotten into playing will tell you.
Can get very dangerious if in the wrong hands lol.... PPL kill others cause of RPG just a thought to remember lol.
Killer187 - Only the same people who are weak minded enough to kill themselves because of Judas Priest records or shoot a cop because of an IceT song.
i play the monster game that the rave has connected to.. and i dont want to harm any one
here is the link come and join me...
href="http://world6.monstersgame.co.uk/?ac=vid&vid=114282300
since this thread i tried to get into rpg`s but my mind dont give me much of a imagination to keep going... :( poor me its not fun not haveing a imagination
Imagination is like any skill. The more you use it, the better at it you are. If you start using your imagination more, it becomes easier to envision things, even easier to find creative solutions to real world problems.
I sumtimes use it as a way of imagination with sum of my friends. I have known others to use it in relationships and such as well.
Hrm the RPG games online I've never had a need or use for them.
Reckon It's an age thing for me.. to not like video games... never have...
now, .. i do like verbal games in IM and chat sometimes.....
but emails and PMs suck butt.
lol
to each their own.
I've played D&D and many other RPG's for ages...
First and foremost - they're works of FICTION. Not fact. They're not training, they represent nothing but the imagination of the author based on either historical or literary archetypes.
'nuff said
I used to play Magic the Gathering and D&D with my friends but it was just for fun...
The problem with a lot of these games is that people are getting into things they know nothing about. They think they are only playing a game when they are really calling on some magicks such as people thinking that the Ouija is just a game when it can cause a lot of damage. They should all be played with care in my opinion
All history is just the fiction on the view points of the authors of it. Whose to say what really happens from one view point to another.
So many are caught up social conceptions there is no chance for anything deeper. It becomes a sad waist of time trying to discuss with anyone like this.
As for your Wicca being real. I laugh at your definition of real. You cannot empyrically prove it, so thus it is not real. Only conjecture, only rationally sane to the nonsensical minds that seek out what really is. Which is far from the ideals of such a base system.
the Christian angst, fear, and loathing (not only in Las Vegas) stems from a couple events when some kids got hyped up on some crazy drugs and either ended up dying from drug induced stupidity, or some kind of tweaker rage where most or nearly most of the party in question either wound up dead or damaged. It just so happens that in their possession were items such as Ouija boards, D&D games, rock n roll music (them drums will make you worship the devil!) and various amounts of hardcore drugs and "sacrificial" weapons. Mix all this together with it being in the Bible Belt, the lack of proper education on the actual events, the little evidence and news actually let out to the public, and the human imagination...turns every RPG game, or anything to do with the fantasy world, magic, etc...to be an instrument of Satan himself. Those who used these instruments were, of course, the progeny of the dark angel himself. You gotta love it!
As much as thats the case. Sometimes what is useful and viable is left to pass for dead. However to those who find for themselves that not everything is what it seems. To them go the spoils of their victory.
I don't know why, but that statement reminds me of The Karate Kid, Mr. Miagee, and the whole wax on, wax off thing. Painting the fence is not just painting the fence, waxing the floor is not just waxing the floor...so on and so forth.
is not all role playing a form of conditioning.
I mean, don't kids play 'mums and dads' or doctors and nurses. We even buy the kids toys that simulate the real things, toy washing machines and guns ets.
I have always played rpg's just for the fun of it and because it was away to make new friends.I wasn't tryin to develope any power or anything.Never really thought about it that way
Loves RPGs i like to play them for the Fun of it, to hang out with friends and the Trill of the competetion and adventure Some can get so highly addictive
Thinks I shall "act" wise and not comment on a reply which so badly needs one.
I think role-playing games are nothing more than that, a game, and you really can't learn much from them (Except that they are addicting as hell. D:)
