what are your true feelings or thought on this myth ..

not all - i've seen loads of castles that aren't haunted. mind you, a lot are. Lancaster Castle is supposed to be.

now schools on the other hand - i have never heard of any English school that does not have at least one ghost - allegedly

I dont think all of them is haunted. But i belive a kinda large amount of them are haunted.

i dont think all of them are all haughted at all. some of them might have ghosts and other castles that didnt have crazy events going problay dont have any ghosts in them at all.

for one thing, they are very old, for another, they have witnessed a lot of drama, and finally, stone is powerful conductor. i f i wanted to create a haunted place, i would make a building out of large stones, then arrange for lots of violent things to happen over several hundred years.

No they're not but it helps attract tourists if it is said that they are ;-)

I honestly don't think all of them are...but some might be...it is probably just being said to get people to go to them

I don't think or believe all of them are haunted, but I do believe that better portion of them are. Same with a lot of places around the states too. It is the same everywhere. Some places are haunted, but some are not. You would be surprised at what places are haunted. Carpe Noctem

LOL - we don't need to attract people to Lancaster castle. there are lots of people living there now, and all get free board and lodging. it is still used as a working gaol. one of the oldest prisons in the world - it dates back to Norman times, and built on the foundations of an even older Saxon castle. sorry - if you want to sleep overnight there, you will have to do something wrong.

well I feel most are probaly haunted. I mean that is an old old country for real so I am sure there are alot of haunting and spirits around the old Castles. :)

I don't think all are but I would love to stay at one that is. I love castles as is so that would make it even better.

Really...anytime you say "all" about anything there will generally be an exception appear at some point. So not all Emglish castles are haunted. Why would English ones be and not French, or German? But yes, there are probably bunches of haunted castles out there. Old places do tend to have all sorts of spiritual resonances clinging to them from days gone by.

WHO TOLD U THIS / WHO EVER TOLD YOU THIS WAS DEAD WRONG!!!! lol!!! had to sry couldn't resist! but to be honest i've been in a few myself and that is a myth I am sensitive to such things and can feel when a presence is around and i can assure u that not all castles in england are haunted by the history that has passed through them.

As others have said when you make broad staements such as "All" or "None" you are almost always given an example of an exception.

The fact that castles are A) old and B) built to protect against violent attack makes it likely that if hauntings are to take place, a castle would be a likely place.

i feel that there are many that are haunted by the spirits that have gone through them, I mean after all it is a very old country and many many historical things have happened in most of them.

Never seen anything haunted so I wouldn't know, but I imagine that if they were then you'd have more documentation on it and movies showing them.

I have never been to a castle in England. I wouldn't know but I wouldn't doubt it. I grew up in San Antonio Tx. it's a very old town and has alot of history with the Civil War the Alamo and such. There are many haunted areas..BUT when I went to Germany I could feel something alot more mysterious and alot different than I have ever felt here. Seemed like every place I went there was haunted.

Not all castles are haunted just like not all houses are haunted

I believe that this would be a myth..there is no reason to believe that every single castle would be haunted.

yea that is a good point haught places are over on the map all you have to do is a small internet search and problay something will pop saying what is hunted and to answer the question not every castle is haughted at all just like not all houses are haughted either.

Lancaster castle was where the famous Lancashire witches were held during their trial and before their execution. the holding cell they were kept in is a dark pit, and it is part of the initiation for new prison warders that they have to spend a night in there.

I lived in England for about three years and visited castles during that time. Not all were haunted but some were. In addition, it was common for a lot of things to be haunted such as pubs, schools, courtyards. Think about it, it makes since. We don't have very many old buildings in America but England almost never tears them down. So their buildings have been exposed to many more violent things. So of course, they would have more haunted places.

I believe we can find hauntings wherever we wish to look. Of course if we have age and myths to assist then it certainly adds a measure of believeabilty; no matter how improbable or implausible.

I dont think all are haunted, but a few I have visited are for sure.
I went on a tour of Norwich castle and the security guard said that if dogs where in with security men, the dogs would NOT go in a certain part, even if pulled, tempted or otherwise.
It also alleged muncaster castle (north england) is haunted and when I went there it felt like it....bbrrrr....
Even if they are not haunted I love going to see them.

some are haunted and some are not.pevency castle dates back to roman times and has a legionary ghost.i did not see him.i love castles.they give me a warm and happy feeling mostly.

I know that Dover castle is most definately not haunted, neither is richborough castle (roman remains) or Reculver Fort/Chapel.

I have been to other castles around the south east coast of england, and have found nothing there either.

However, if you go to the historic boatyards of Chatam in Kent, you will find an array of spirits.

Another great place in kent is a small town not far from Chilham Woods.

I've never been to England, so I can't say for sure...But I seriously doubt that they are ALL haunted.

I believe any place can be "haunted" by spirits but I do not believe a place is "haunted" just because of where it is located, so no I do not believe that every castle is "haunted" in england and I won't until I know each case individually

spirits are every where. It doesn't mean that they always haunt things, but in a since they do. There are different ways to haunt. It just depends on what you see as a haunting.

I think that some of them probably are haunted...I mean there's too much history in some of them for there not to be some sort of spirit/residual energies there. All of them...that could easily be debated. I'm sure that not all of them are actually haunted.

this is true but sometime the spirits pass on without haunting a place that should.

Yes I think all the castles in the UK are haunted.

As others have said they are all very old now, they are built of huge stones (that are even older) and because of what they were built to do, they will have seen plenty of gore. So it figures if one is, they all are.

Remember, just because a ghost hasn't been felt or recorded in legend - doesn't mean there isn't one

Since I have not been to them, I can not say for certain, but anything is possible. At least some of them would be expected to be.

Part of the charm of old buildings, I think is to believe in your own imagination that they could be haunted, however, that doesnt mean that they are. Still, I wouldn't like to stay a night in a particular old castle. It is reputed to be haunted by the headless man especially in the tower! Hence, the expression, "Off with his head!" haha!

now when u say all, is this meaning all in england or in a small part of englad where the castles are close to another... i mean house and castles are haunted but not all.. but i do believe if they are all near one another they may all be haunted

with all the history that has happend in them it would not supprise me if they were haunted

I think there are some that are haunted most likly more then would be expected because of the violent history of the country and the age of the castles themselves. But I in no way belive that all or even most are haunted.

i dont think a castle has any more a chance of being haunted as say a church or any old building with history............nor do i think the location matters. But British ghosts are the best....afterall, they learnt how to haunt from Shakespere.

any place that sees serious trauma, has a stamp left upon it. a place with continued trauma, or many that have been killed or have died unjustly in one area, might create, a concentration of bad energy...hence a haunting.

Castles have no more hold on hauntings than bridges, or rivers, or churches, or cemeteries. A haunting, if one believes, takes place wherever a restless spirit dwells.

Some are and some are not. As someone said above, Is good for tourism and the local economy though ;)

I'm not really sure on this...but at the same time, it wouldn't surprise me if it's true. There were a lot of deaths at those castles and such so...who knows. I guess the only way to find out is to go to each one and see what happens, lol.

If deaths are the reasons for hauntings then battlefields and cities like Hiroshima should be the most haunted places of all.
