Has anyone ever had dreams that repeat over and over? Maybe even stop repeating for a few months or even years, then repeat again?
I have.
So I was just wondering..are these dreams catagorized in some way? May these dreams be a message of some sort? Or perhaps just a very clear memory you have of something/someone?
I have had dreams like that. They started when I was 3, and continued off and on until I was about 20.
With mine, they were a premonition of a horrible fire where someone I knew was going to die. I still couldn't stop it when it happened, but the dreams stopped anyway.
My girlfriend had repeating dreams that our daughter had long pretty fingers and when she was born sure enough she had long pretty fingers. Cool stuff I think.
I'm really not sure honestly I just know that every night I have the same dream been that way for almost 2 years now so I would love for someone to shed some light on that.
I have one reoccuring dream since my childhood.. actually, a nightmare.
Well Dreams are part of your subconscious. They often represent something unfulfilled, or something you're trying to repress or forget about, or something that is bothinering you on the fringe of your mind. I have had reoccuring dreams, but not recently, and I don't wish for that particualr one to return.
When I was younger I would have the same nightmare over and over again. Finally one night I was actually aware that I was dreaming but I still couldn't control what was happening, it all happened the same way it always did, but then after that, I never had the dream again.
personally i think its just unresovled issues that are coming to surface in your subconcious. i had re-occuring dreams and once i resolved the issue the dreams stopped
I was wondering if my dreams were exactly the same way each time. and if so, it seems sort of impressive that your brain could do that, seemingly on its own...Which is actually a weird thing to say.
My sister and I were talking about how every aspect and detail of each of your dreams is formed by your mind...So if it's repeating, it might be stuck on something, an issue, fear, or want..I don't know.
My nightmares seem to be more similar to each other than my good dreams, although I've gone to the same location in a number of dreams, it's played out differently.
I was wondering if that reoccuring dreams that seemed totally impossible meant somehting in the actual world?
Like suppose a dream of a place where no one could scream? Just quiet whispers you couldn't understand. Does that mean that, someone you know, or yourself is going to go deaf?
Just a thought....
I don't know what it means. It is strange that this post is here today, I was having a recurring dream this morning that I haven't had in a long time.
What I have noticed is all of my repeat dreams are lucid dreams. They are also the -exact- one same dream over and over.
For some people these dreams are preminitions. I have never had them that i know of but then again I never remember my dreams
Yes, yes and YES! I have. Not only that, but I have had a majority of them actually experienced (not every detail, but the central point of the dream). IE: I actually experience my dreams a few days later. This has happened numerous times.
never had one myself but i know lots of people that have you can look it up in a dream book .
i've had recurring dreams before. their was this one that stopped for a few years, then started back up again. usually, repeating dreams are caused by your subconcious mind trying to tell you that something in your wakend state is bothering you. and sometimes it wont go away, until you resolve that particular issue.
I've had two recurring dreams since I was a child. They started when I was about five, and I still have them. I'll go months without having either, and then I'll have them both again. I don't understand why it happens.
I wouldn't dwell on them too much. They're probably just a figment of your past recurring.
I have Nightmares and dreams of what I wish for but can't have sometimes they are so real I wake up hanging off my bed breathing hard,I just pray sometimes they will leave me alone,I always sleep with some kinda noise and that keeps it away
Routine causes my dreams to repeat.I find when i have anxiety i have a familiar dream after the attack ends.
I've had some repeating dreams, mostly nightmares. I can't remember the exact details, however I know that in most of my haunting dreams I can feel pain.
Ah yes, I just remembered one that I continue to have, that is far from reality. My skin, ripping off of my body, starting from my index finger on my right hand as a small cut.
Do they have meaning? For me, I highly doubt it. Some people I believe can have meanings, or lusts, for the events that occur in said dreams.
I've had a repeating dream (nightmare)off and on all my life. I don't know what it means or what the source is, only that it happens and that I wish it would stop!
I have had repeating dreams before, but when i moved house they just seemed to stop. I found it pretty scary really because it wasnt a good dream it was more like a nightmare :-S
i have had the same dream of me , my mom, and my sister dieing in a car wreck for years about once a year i have it same dream same place same car i wish it would stop
I have also had dreams like that. I somehow think it try to say something.
i have repetitive dreams.. some good , some bad.. not sure the purpose.
I'd say repeating dreams are probably one of two things...
1. You have the dream once, for some reason or another you remember it specifically, and you subconsciously think about it again while you sleep, thus re-creating the dream and reliving it. Or,
2. The dream holds some certain meaning behind it that your subconscious really needs you to fully grasp and understand.
Those would be my best guesses.
I have had several recurring dreams, but for me the "recurrence" usually only happens several times..
Example: Last year, I think it was in August, for like two weeks, I had the oddest dream about a flower blooming (?)(ha ha) thats all I would see, and I had that dream i think five times that month, and haven't had it again.
and Twice last week, I dreamed about walking along the top of a wall. No falls from it, no obstacles, no problems, just a long wall and I was walking along the top of it.
With the blooming flower dream, the first time, I woke up thinking "How Odd!??!" and thought about it off and on all day.
Perhaps, sometimes, they just reoccur because they "stick" in our minds for some reason or another?
Interesting.
I have had recuring dreams many times, it's not at all unusual.
What I love about reoccurring dreams is that they totally betray sciences idea of "random neural firings" something that repeatedly happens in your subconscious is definitely something to think about.
Now personally, and I'm probably agreeing with a lot of people on here when I say that it is most likely an unfulfilled dream, or unrealized fear, that keeps repeating to try to make the dreamer aware of it's presence in your mind. thoughts, even when looked at through the "random neural firing" microscope are each separate, and each...well their own thought. Dreams are the same way, they are your mind, your thought's, way of telling you something. I'd say as long as you haven't dreamed about your own death since you were four that it's nothing to worry about. (And if you have...you might want to talk to someone certified)
I have one repating dream that i have so far been unable to control.. and that annoys me lol. But its a nightmare I started haveing as a child and when every I under stress it comes back. I do understand its meaning.. but it is still annoying.
I actually have many repeating dreams i personally do not think they mean anything at all , they are strange and make no sence...
I have many reoccurring dreams. Also I have reoccurring dreams that also take up where they left off.
Some feel that this is your minds way of processing or working through problems or internal things that you have yet to resolve and in some ways I too believe this, up to a point.
I believe also however that we live two lives. The physical life of our waking times and the spiritual or astral life of our non waking minds.
Do your reoccurring dreams have any special meaning for you.
V
i would say so ive even had that happen 2 me and i think it is a message of some sort
I have that happen every so often...one or two use to repeat every night when I was younger. Not so much anymore. But if it does, I think that it has some sort of meaning. I am not sure how...but somehow, a message, a reason we should remember them. Has to be something.
I've had some recurring nightmares that I have been told are something my subconscious wishes to happen. Not a very fun for me to think about since I die in part of the dream.
I have had one that has been repeative since I was 14, after my older sister opened doors she wasn't ready for. and now its been 12 years since that day and IM still having to deal with it.
Yes, and once I dealt with the real world issues related to them, the repeating dreams stopped.
i thnk it would b cool to have a repeating dream but then again it wld worry me to if it was bad
I have had some reoccuuring dreams over and over again but i keep a dream journal. One dream years ago that i had over and over again was of a white farm house surrounded by corn feilds, this is the house I live in now.
Yep, I have. And it would probably be categorized under your brain being obsessed with whatever you're dreaming of.
Anyone been trapped in a repeating dream to where they could not dream about anything else and it was very hard to wake up?
i get alot of repeat dreams, mostly they are death oriented...
i used to have a dream i was assasinated in i was on a stage it was a political theme
I have had re-occuring dreams. You might want to try to analyze why you are having that dream. Maybe it's your mind's way of trying to work thru something you have chosen not to fix. It could be a warning, either way the next time you dream it, try to face what your dream is about. Try to continue the dream on
That's what I've always been taught, too. That re-occuring dreams are a warning or form of awarenes. You just have to figuire out which and why. Try reading up and learning about lucid dreaming, could be helpful.
All of my repeating dreams are ridiculus and somewhat of a nightmare.... I have been having them for as long as I can remember... I only have them every once in a while but they still come every now and again.
Mine are of stupid things... two different ones have to do with me being hunted down by godzilla.... then when he gets close to me it starts from the beginning again and just repeats... all night long. I know that sounds stupid and at first you're just like wtf... but after a while it can actually get scary. (even though godzilla movies make me laugh because he looks so much like he is made of rubber... which some if his costumes are. lol)
I don't know about all this but i think that a reaccuring dream would be trying to tell you something.....
This happens to me a lot, so I did some research on it. The following I found On the "dream moods" website.
Someone there asked this question:
"What causes or why do some dreams keep repeating themselves?"
Response:
"Dreams that recur (or repeat themselves) is a clear indication that some issue is not being confronted or that it has not yet been resolved. Your anxieties about a certain situation that you are struggling with may also cause you to have recurring dreams. "
I dont believe that it means that the dream will come true however it does mean that something could happen very fimlar. I guess u just have to read into the dream and see what it means to u.
i use to have dreams that repeat for a very short period of time
I can relate - I have had the same recurring dreams since I was very little...
One of them is so profoundly beautiful and intensly real - I am lost when I try to find the words to describe it.
I do think there may be a message in these types of dreams... But it's up to us as individual to find what it means...
A spiritual challenge, if you will.
Mine, for instance... I belive I am being told to write - I have a passion for writing, and am masterful at being very descriptive. But am still unable to describe the very dream that inspires me so!!
I think it's telling me to keep writing... To get even better... So that I may tell this... Story... For lack of a better term!

I honestly don't remember the dreams I have and when I do they're really wierd.
Usually reaccuring and I don't know what they mean.. but I think they do have a meaning..
I have had repeating dreams. I think dreams are really your mind sorting through things. I think of it like defragmenting your hard drive on your computer. The computer can defrag in the background, or it can go through quickly if input stops for a while. While sleeping, much senory input is tuned out.
I have had repeated dreams before, it is your minds way of telling you there is some thing in your life that you need to do or sort out.
I've had repeating dreams. I think its just like your mind is telling you of a fear you have or something. Mines had to do with bears and my uncle leaving. Mind you, I was quite young when it happened. Eventually my uncle left me. And eventually I came in contact with a bear. Both of wish were things that I was very afraid of. I think they are merely a way of your mind trying to tell you things....and in some cases they are kind of predicting the future or something too. I don't know. It makes sense in my head.
I have had it happen to me a few times...all of them I had a premonition and after what I saw was going to happen did happen they stopped...when I was younger I tryed to stop one from happening but it didnt work a year later a friend of mine drowned in the winter while working on a barg
now this may appear strange to some of you be i have had the same dream repeat itself over and over all mylfe since the age of 7 and it still haunts me to this day and it always begins the same and stops in the same spot and i can never get rid of it or finish it so i can move on to something else it is always in my head fopr some reason..
Have one one reocurring nightmare since I was approx 6 years old... but the main dream I've had for over 30 years is featured on my profile... I have the same dream, scene for scene and just never can see the man's face.. so frustrating.
i have repeating dreams of dieing and death i wish i could forget deat for a week , that would be nice..
there are many reason why a dream can and does repeat i am sorry but i cant help you
I believe that repeated dreams are a very, very rare occurence and if people perceive that they happen it could be related to something they are actually worried about in waking life when they occur in half sleep/half wake state.
ive never had a repeating dream but simalar to them but if i do i will mention it to you..
I still have my dream that repeats every single night no matter what.
I have had a recurring dream off and on for 20 years now. I believe that dreams are always your subconcious trying to work something out , something you have on your mind literally....for me the dream represents a fear.
I have had several dreams like that. One is worse than the rest and still repeats now and then. I dreamed it a lot when I was younger. I'm not sure if it means anything. It was really, really weird. If it does mean anything, I'm not even sure I would want to know.
I've had people tell me that they have recurring dreams but I don't remember having any of my own- my dreams have always been worthy of being a basis of a movie plot, though- but I have always thought that repetitive dreams are your subconscious mind's way of poking you and reminding you of 'unfinished business', unresolved conflicts or whatnot.
It could be a predictor of events to come, a messege or anything
I used to have a repeating dream, I had it so much I stopped sleeping because it scared me. I haven't had it since, and I think it's because I faced my fear of something
I have had a few repeating dreams that have occurred sometimes with years in-between. The only way I could categorize the dreams is to state that they all had to do with running away from an adversary where death was immanent. You can dissect dreams, but it is unclear whether you can draw predictions or revelations about the past. I don’t view the dreams as having any power nor indicating anything other than a mechanism for my subconscious to realize and relieve stress.
With me, recurring dreams always try to tell me something about either myself, or about the situations in which I've found myself. For instance, the first recurring dream I had was about a Nosferatu type creature killing me. I was really young at this time and it lead me to being scared to death of vampires. When talking to a close friend about it, he suggested to me that I was probably dreaming about a past life, and that that was the way I had died in it. That dream was telling me something about myself. Another example is a dream I had, not too long ago. That dream was letting me know I had been cheated on. It's been my experience that when you find yourself having a recurring dream, that you should pay attention to it. It's not repeating itself for nothing.
Im sure i have had many but i distinctly remember a repeating dream i had when i was very young i still remember it for some old reason, i had that same dream for almsot a year and each night i would get farthern along in the dream then i would awake then the next night it would start again and i would get a little furthern then wake, as i said it countinued for almost a year it was crazy and as a child the dream was much confusing but if got my so fascinated with dreams and ever since then i have studied them and have gotten to understand them more and i am to this day still trying to figure that dream out.
...The movie goblins....it bothers me...Except i learned how to controll me dreams...FEAR THE UZI rofl
I have had dreams that repeat themselves. Mostly I believe that it is my unconscious mind trying to get me to remember something. I wake and look at the dreams as much as I can remember and then go from there.
I dont have dreams that repeat themselves. The premonition dreams are the only ones I have anymore, and they occur only once.
dream are some time a window to your future or it can be memories of your past lifes. your dream are important to you in one way or another.
You either have some sort of foresight or your brain is trying to help you sort out something. Dreams are usually the minds way of helping you through your problems.
maybe the repeating dream are trying to tell you that something could be different then it is, or it could be about your past life.
I would also have reoccuring dreams. The events change but it seems like the place settings are same. Perhaps I lived there in the past or may have in an insight to a past life. But with reoccuring dreams you have to realize what is symbolic in your dream or what stands out the most. People or animals or even places could just be metaphors for something that you may be going through in your life or something that possibly may happen or has happened already without you realizing it.
i also have reoccurring dreams and always wondered what they mean..i have had one for as long as i can remember but i know the reason behind it but not the other's...But what about having dreams them they really do happen...It's one of those deja vu feelings...
I have them too, but my biggest problem is a couple of seconds after I am awake, I can't remember them. maybe bits and pieces, but never the whole dream.
I have had some odd repetitive dreams,,, and they usually are disturbing. I wake up writte them down, and next time i dream that particular dream, I try to solve the problem that it is refering too
