Do you rate high because you see the profile's Picture and thats what you look for ? or do you look for the information in the profile?and whatever the answer, WHY?

Since I already finished rating members profiles and portfolios, I think I can answer this question with honesty.

If the profile is a premium, I give it an 8 to a 10, depending on how it looks, feels, templated. The background pic is a big must have in my book. As it is a premium account, why not take full advantage of it...This is what premium means after all.

With the free accounts, I tend to rate them no higher than a 9, for the simple reason being...If it has a good background pic, little to no anime, good information but not too revealing...It does not matter how many pics, just as long as they are put into a scroll box. Save the time of scrolling all the way down to the bottom.

As most of the free members profiles have little to nothing on them, I simply rate them a 5. At least put something on them...You joined the Rave after all. Might as well put some time into the site.

This is just me. Hopefully this thread lasts in this location...I am very interested to see others responses.

Copyrighted material means no more than 9
Too many quizzes, no more than 8
Abusiveness, no more than 6
It all depends on my mood as well. If you reckon you have been hard done by just message me, I was probably irate at something :P
But yeah, I dunno, I go on the feel of each one, and try not to be too picky, coz I know I have put 0 effort into mine.

it depends on the amount of effort put into it and if they even tried or was abusive in the way they come across.

and yes if i see a freemember put alot ofwork into it i give them a 10, becausethe background does not matter just what they say.

I find backgrounds can be detracting anyways, especially if they conflict with text colour

yes, this is true, specifically if the background was not chosen to match the template style they put into the coding in the first place. Some are way to bright.

I agree with the quizes as well. What is up with them anywho? A bit of information about yourself does not equal extreme sets of quizes based on your personality. Quizes in general are flawed anywho. At least put them in box's.

I reckon even put quizzes in your journal.

For me, as I'm trying to level, I'm in and out in a flash....you get stamped and rated a ten irrespective of what you have on your page.
Once the levelling is done I'm sure (knowing me) that I will will get around to reading and admiring peoples talents

I go by the feel of the profile. I also hate quizzes who needs to put them on a profile.

I have a few 'criteria's. The main one is effort, if i can see your trying your best to get your profile right there's a 7 right there, i also look at grammer, spelling although i'm not overly scrict on this since i'm not perfect on this but text speak, i freely admit i hate, you learnt english..use it.

I'm o.k with one or two quizzes but any more than that put them in your journal. The last biggie for me is overly big pic's, if they are too big they strech the profile all to hell to i have to continually keep scrolling back and forth to read the text.

One last thing is going overboard on swearing. I've got the whole thing on my profile.

Yeah, infomation is always good as well, not your whole life story but a good 'profile' of you. Plus i've just remembered one more, people who join VR just looking for a date really tick me off, i've got nothing against romance but there are lots of other sites to advertise yourselves, they are advertised on VR!!! This a vampire and suprnatural directory not a dating service.

If they are newbies: I give a 5 just for coming up with a name. If they have any sort of description it bumps to a 6 , with pics and description it's a 7, and a few here and there get a 8 that know html. And occaisionally I will give ones to the idiots, i think you all who I am talking about there.

I rate for the information they have given, i also like to see pix. and i love people who are creative with there profile. I rate high when i know the person has put some thought into there profile.

Everyone has different skill levels, so I rate everyone a 10 just for being here and effort.

I look at how much of themselves they have put into it.. I dont care whether you are free or premium if you have placed a good amount of energy into your profile then you most definately deserve a high rating..

I just flip a coin. If it comes up heads I give a ten, if it comes up tails they get a one. Unfortunately I only carry two headed coins in my pocket when I rate...lol.

I know some people want personal stuff, but I hate to write, so mine is all pics and things I like. I'll answer anyones questions, but to just write things about myself is not my thing.

My rating system goes for how much effort is put into the profile/portfolio. Free members dont get to have "cool" bg's, but if they know what they are doing, they can make it interesting using limited html. I like to read about interests, ect...those get a 10. I wont rate somebody crappy just because they give me a bad rating though. You get what you deserve in my book.

I rate by how much they write and if they put an effort into their profile if it looks like they put no effort into it then they get I lesser rating. And I do this because you a judging someones creativity and just because I may not like it doesn't mean it is bad or they didn't work hard on it.

My standards, what my rating means and how I judge, mind you; there are exceptions and each profile is reviewed when I read it.

1-4: Blank profile - full of BS - your profile is written with sms lanuage (it is bad and annoying to translate)

5: Not completely convinced but still good. too many quizzes and pictures that will stretch your profile no real information.

6-7: I am slightly impressed, I enjoy myself when I visit your profile - I can see that you have tried your best and want to be better.

8-9: A really great profile, interesting personal information, good balance in colours and pictures - quizzes in a scrollbox. You seem like you really want this.

10: Perfection. I like the overall impression of the profile. Balance in colour, pictures and text. Your profile is structured and informative.

I will always re-rate if you ask me to and it has to be REALLY bad before you get a 1 from me.

i rate on the material and specially words that bring the person to VR. i do not like abusive material so to say and if it has thought to the profile. But I do give an ease on the new comers here and check back to seee if they have improved or worsened.

I mostly rate a page high when I can see that the owner has put some considerable thought into its creation...

It depends on the amount of effort put in to the profile. i like to know a little about a person and see them make some effort to be part of the VR community a just ask me type profile doesnt score very highly with me im afraid

Oooh and the people who are adamant they are true vampire/werewolves/crossbreeds get about a 2 or 3

I just give everybody tens when I rate. When some one gives me something other than a 10 then I'll go back and examine their profile and give them a more honest rate if any. if i did that in the first place it would take me forever to finish rating everything. so i just wait for them to honest rate me first. lol

information in the profile causee people are very intresting

Free or premium makes no difference to me. I look for overall content, what is being said, graphics, pictures, etc.

attitude

you get a low rating from me if you say "message me" and nothing else. A profile is just that, it should have information about you as an individual. What their picture looks like doesn't and shouldn't matter.

i rate based on the effort put into their profile...as long as they took some time and their profile says something about themselves they will get nothing lower than a 9 regardless of being a pm or not

i do both, also if its really obvious someone put a lot of time into their profile i usually give a ten. the only time i give a low rate is when its obvious the person spent absolutely no time on their profile...

I am a !0 rate slut if I see shiny i think 10 I like journals as well.I need to get a rated by thingy so I can really let my rate slut rage.

I look for quanity no matter what type of membership the person has. I mean, a premium member who has a background up and like, 2 sentences will get a 5 from me, just like a non-PM would, for being too lazy to make a decent attempt at a profile.

I always rate a 10... i read the pros... and the portfolios... most of the newbies dont know how to make them look good, but they do their best... some of them have good stories at the beginning... and i like that... but i normally rate 10, except if i see something abusive... but i normally do it... and i encourage my friends to do it as well...

I rate on content and creativity. If it looks like they truly put some work into it, then sure, 10. If it's some lame ass paragraph, with text talk and other shit like that, then of course they're going to get like a 4 or 3. I never rate 1's.

I take all into account when rating content, pictures, background, layout and overall feeling or effort....If I see genuine effort I usually give a 10...I rarely rate 6 or below unless the page is offensive ... or says next to nothing... or if the person set up a page with "hi or f u" on it and has not return to the page since... If ask nicely I usually return and re rate a 10. For Rude people I usually ignore them.

Information, effort and time spent. The more I learn about someone or if they can make me laugh or teach me something it's a 10.

For the most part, I've enjoyed many profiles. Listened to some new music, been interested enuf to look at portfolios. In a way, it's like people watching, only I can be in my pajamas.

Don't discriminate between premium and free accounts; respect the prem's who have forsaken a background --- don't like backgrounds that obscure the words.

If your words are all about what an angry and friendless bastard you are, that'll cost you. Used to click away immediately, but have learned not to waste my click. Plus, that kind of anger and/or sadness has a place in my life.

Or if you rant endlessly about your rating system: boring.

I find the corsetted ladies with whips entertaining, especially if they warn viewers not to attempt cybering.

I like the contrast between profiles and portfolios, and respect the honesty that goes into the latter. Always wonder about people who don't have portfolios, but it doesn't affect my rating.

Rating style: high and dreamy.

depends on if it stands out or not.... depends if the last ones that day were good and yours was not in comparison... just depends

with me it's what is written that i find the most interesting....

It's a little of both for me however if someone has zero pictures but takes the time to write a paragraph about themselves I will give them a high rating. After talking to people who put lots of photos & little info, & vise versa I have come to find the later are the people who are more willing to engage me in conversations. Furthermore, a picture only says so much when a paragraph takes up the same amount of space yet conveys more information.

But that's just me.

I rate a ten to everyone, everyone has their own way of expressing themselves and to each their own.
If I see some thing extra special I usually will send a pm to them and comment there .

I personally rate based on effort.... if someone has truley put their heart into something.. then I believe they deserve a good rate despite if as people we get on well....

Pictures are always good but I look more for information on the person and care to actually try and tell something about themselves.

I rate ten's to every profile, regardless of their status, or content wich is on their profile, or not. As well, Premium Membership status plays no role, a member gets a ten anyway, weather it is a PM profile or not.

I rate so beacuse I am a nice person, and care for ppl's rating, by giving them a ten exactly, to their profile rating, and portfolio rating score.

I dont feel like downrating them for no reason, beacuse all that is just imagination. Everybody deserves a ten, beacuse they are all equal. I respect every person and I give a ten equaly.

Too bad many ppl are taking the rating game here on the Vampire Rave too seriously, and are not able to respect the same gesture of respect in return.

But then, is that not why Cancer put the rating system in? To rate accordingly?

If not, then the leveling process would be mute.

I give newbies a break and generally rate a 10 unless the text is hard to read because of the background or due to ranting.

Rate according to content. Be it photos of them selves, their writings or their art. I take it all in to account. I do tend to give newbies a break here and there depends on the day. LOL

It really fluctuates according to my mood that day, which may not be the fairest. Usually I won't rate lower than an 8 unless theres just nothing there, it's abandoned, or it's hateful in some way. The more unique it is, the higher I rate. If there's a bunch of the same recycled pictures and quizzes, I don't pay much attention and move on.

well i rate every one a ten because im not that persons judge, i no that cancer had set it up to judge others but i cant, every one is equal to me and i want to be rated 10's cause in my eyes i am a 10.. if you dont feel that way im sorry

My rates are judged by content I have been known to rate premium members of higher levels a 1 for lack of different things on their profile. However, when I do use a low rating I explain myself and why I gave the rating that I have given. The information about a person matters more to me than the pictures or song or player or whatever the person has. I take pride in my profile as it is my representation of myself in an open forum I would expect the same from every member here.

I look for the information, because I feel that you should say something meaningful about yourself rather than just having some pretty pictures.

I wanna see both , and for the words to match tne pictures ..

Whatever is there, it has to be original. I don't want to see the same pictures any person would put up just because they think it will be accepted by the members of VR.

I want to see their own writing, I want to see creativity and actual thought put into something.

Oh yes, and proper spelling, punctuation and grammar are always appreciated. ;)

I look for effort. I they have worked on the profile to make it good they deserve points for that. For me, the whole effect of the profile gets rated.

i look for the detail ppl put into their profiles and the time they spend on being creative so ppl can see them in a different light .

Everyone is equal, so I just give them all 10's it makes life simpler.

when I look at a pro. I look at the info.,style,origenality and the effort that the person has put into it. I think the effort has alot to say about the personality of the individual that your looking at, sure pic's. are a good thing but time spent on it is a good indecation as to the type of person your checking on.

I simply go off of what the outcome is. If the site is awesome, then it stays high. If the site is plain it will be lower unless they say something that speaks to me.

ok i can see why every one is rated different.. there is a game being played here, to see who can get to the top and if some rates low stops them from going to the top.. there is a link called The Top just to see who's winning, so if every one rated every one a 10 we would all be winners, i my self dont want to be in the headache of some one coming to me and saying and whining and complaining that you gave me this and why so i give you all tens so i wont be accused of it, there is enough people on vr that they think they have to rate you low just because they can.. they will, and then they will block your comment..

some people on vr think if you block some one they cant go back to your profile and change there rateings, not true, and just cause you block comments, well i can see your comments even if i block you.. just others on vr cant see them..

I look for the info and if their a whelp i help them out. If i enjoyed their page i would rate them and tell them so.;

pictures are nice but I rate more on informational content.

I look for many things. I look for information, pictures, creativity, attitude, all of those things make a good profile. Well unless you have a cocky attitude.

i always rate by what is on the page..... pictures ....graphics.... some info about yourself or things you like or dislike gets a 10..... if someone says things like...F off i hate the world i hate you ...... ppl suck..... gets a 2 maybe a 1.......

Both would get a good rating from me. Just pics on a profile i feel lacks character, and just writing I feel lacks creativity.

I rate profiles according to the whole package including the main image, information, and extras. The more of yourself I see, read, hear, whatever... the better I will rate you.

I rate based on the information. If a page is all graphics, and no text, it will get a low rating from me. I also base part of my rate on spelling and grammar. The way I see it, your profile is your way to let the rest of the community get to know you a little. If all you do is slap up a bunch of graphics, you're not taking advantage of that opportunity. When I visit someone's profile, I want to learn something about them, the kind of person they are. I don't care about a bunch of graphics that they find interesting. That doesn't tell me anything.

You in all honesty I believe humans are flawed because we all are so narrow-minded about rates.
I mean they have to have good information,creativity & pictures.
Know I say this everybody deserves a ten because that is there style & what they feel on the inside.
If everybody would learn to read between the lines then you would see there ingeunity into there own profile.

when I rate a portfolio or a profile I actually take the time to read whatever is put in them and then I will rate I have always rated a person high even if they are brand new and have barely just begun their profile,just to help them get started.

I usually rate everyone a ten for effort , unless there is something seriously boring, like a sentence int heir profile and nothing else. However, I do enjoy the one sentence profiles that are humourous^_^ Then i will usually to rate them a ten and talk to them. However, I do not feel it is right to really judge people. I believe everyone deserves the chance to be a sire, so i will help them out by rating them high^_^

Here is my theory, and mind you I am one hard ass when it comes to it. I rate people in terms of priority to what I am doing, I rate those I see online first and something sparks my curiosity, then I rate those people in my coven, lastly I rate the people who rate me sans those who just leave stamps (they just get ignored outright). Within those catagories I look at layout, content, biography, story, and pictures (no not random graphics). Takeing this all into account I then subtract for pages of quizes, pop ups, annoying bacjground sounds I cant mute because I like listening to the music I want to, and overall simplicity. All this taken into account i usually leave my own comment unique to that profile and a number, I have two stamps but I made them out of novelty and dont use them. Does that answer things?

First of all, you all should know that I've been on VR since 2005, but I left and this is a new account. This explains my low level.
Now, the way I rate profiles is simple. If the have at least something written down in their description, they get a 5. If they add a pic or two, 6. The more effort I see, the higher I rate. But if they have one sentence written and if that sentence is BS, 1. I rate free members 10 if it looks like they put a lot of effort into their profile. Premies usually get 8 - 10. As for portfolios, I rate tham all 10 coz I feel weird about making people think that I hate their pics. And anyways, I think the profiles are the most important, but that's just me.

Rate off Creativity and Information. Not for Just pictures!

I rate mostly from how much content is in the profile and how much effort it looks like they put into the profiles creation.

I go one what I feel from a profile.Good art is a big plus and the way it is presented as an extension of oneself.

As I also have rated nearly every single thing there is to rate here in VR I rate with what they have. I dont care about photos or the length I rate for what is in the profile. I will never mark someone down unless there is swearing just for the sake of it or it is a profile made for a pickup. I dont automatically give ppl a 10. It has to be worth it. However a Portfolio is different I will always rate anyone's port a 10 to me if you are willing to open up your personal life then I should honour it with the highest score possible.

I rate profile's and portfolio's based the potential of the individual... I am not here to dispearage others work or ability. How they treat others determines their final rating from me.

answering honestly...i look for both the pictures and the information...most ppl only rate to boost their status but most of the time i acctually read ppls profiles and portfolios

Neither I just rate everyone the same.

I value sharing of one's self above pictures. Unless perhaps they are your own pictures, either photos or your own artwork.

i go by the info and pictures they present.if its a fairly decent amount of info i give a 9 and if good art is involvesd i go to ten.however whelps get a ten as they need allthe help they can get.

I might be one of the few, but I think the text is more important than graphics stolen from the internet or personal pictures.

I always enjoy a creatively written page, regardless of graphics. Unfortunately we are not all writers. If an effort is put forth, I rate a 10.

I go by alot of differant things...Profile look, There time spent, So on...People who give people a look into there lifes..

I rate based on how much effort it appears went into the profile. I could give a damn about the pictures. If they put effort into the profile itself, and haven't filled it with quizzes and other nonsense, they usually get a 10.
