I think it would be hard to say, since most of us are not sure where we will go when we ourselves die let alone what will happen to animals. The human animal itself is led by blind faith in the beliefs , and the beliefs of what will happen to them. The only truth we DO know as fact is that everyone will eventualy find out in the end.
As for animals , it is in my opinion, pure human arrogance to assume these living beings have no feeling , or concept of there existance .....are we not animals also? Do not we deal with instincts? Most humans were conditioned through time and changes in their social eviorments to loose some basic "instincts" , for survival or whatever.
As far as the instinct to protect our young , that would be a good example if you open your minds.....for instance some humans reject their young, as do some animals. However, the rules of conduct for this is different....in most cases.
When the day comes that we will have to fight for our own survival for real it will be do or die and the strong and the smart will survive. Natural selection . Nature has a way of cleansing itself.
Animals comunitcate with one another and each have a languge , sometimes silent , but nevertheless still spoken , just because we do not speak it on their level does not mean they have not any intelligence or concept of what is going on.
Granted , all life forms are on different levels in this way. Each with their own perspective of their world.
It is my belief that the eternal energy that lives within all living beings will amass on another plane and be in someway recycled once again.
