I went online and tried reading about poltergeists however they pretty much just say that they throw stuff... Well I think there is one next to my friends apartment because there is stuff banging and sometimes we hear things but NO ONE lives there. Here's my question
Can a poltergeist move into her apartment and hurt her and her son?
And how can we really find out what is in there with-out going to jail with breaking in?
Yes they can move in with her and they can cause harm.
The way to find out is to see if u can find a medium to come over and check it out
black hawk is pretty much dead on, poltergeists will follow people it's not knowen exactly why but yeah your best bet is to get a medium, other than that there are lots of little things thatt can be done, but you would need permission from your neighbours.
Definitely get a medium over to check it out and see what can be done to remove it and find out why it wants to bother your friend.
Could be the pipes in the walls making the noise and if anything might to make a call to the ghostbusters *starts singing the ghostbusters theme*
Natural causes with buildings settling, leaks, etc is always an option to explore.
As well as wild animals, such as dogs, cats...The usual. Or even transients.
have you considered telling the landlord or owner that you are hearing stuff in a vacant apt. / House. I mean I would start with the basics first before going and getting a medium ..after that if there is no proof that anyone or thing / animal is doing it then I would take the next step as to calling someone who knows about these things.... just a suggestion.
the first thing i would do is check to see if they have a pet thats kept inside making the noise or any other explanation...then maybe check in on someone with knowledge on the paranormal
I agree with the natural causes. Many get freaked out about wierd nioses in their house, when to come to find out it is just the house itself.
People on a paranormal team will tell you poltergeist will move from place to place.
If you have a paranormal investigating team in your area maybe they would like to come & check it out.
I also agree with what everyone has said above.
assuming an entity and not the building ... they generally stick to a specific location or a specific person/family so your friend may actually not have anything to worry about ...
It has also been proved that poltergeist activity was caused by living children in the home going through either puberty or emotional issues.
yes do not waste time, for the may harm those who are conducting them, like the children.
If it is a place where the poltergeist once lived then i believe they can huant it.
If, as you say, nobody lives there, then it's unlikely to be a pet; however it could be wild animals. It may even be squatters...what kind of noises are you hearing?
My personal belief is that poltergeists are entities created from the individual's emotional energy, which is why a lot of poltergeists are known to follow people around, and why they are usually found in households with teenagers or people with emotional issues. But that is just my belief. Either way, I'd suggest doing a banishing spell or call a priest to bless the place, or whatever you'd feel most comfortable with.
I think someone should tell the owner just to make sure no kids are causing problems
it could be any number of things i agree contact the owner and if nothing comes up and it continues then contact a medium
I agree....it could be a natural cause.... It is unknown what a poltergeist truley is... From what I've learned though....it is believed to be thoughtless negative energy, normally created by a person... Typically this "energy" will either stay where it was created, or follow it's creator...and sometimes is known to go to someone that the creator is thinking of... Again....these are all theories....not proven....
Find a good medium. Some very good ones do not even have to be in the near proximity to intervene.
Poltergeist are in most cases caused by a person. They are draw too teenager mostly. At least that is what I have read. But kids can draw them in to. So tell your friend to watch out. Better to be careful than be sorry.
or faulty wires,or cheap ikea furniture that is overloaded.there are a few basic effects I can teach people, but I am bond to a code of silence to the better effects.
The truth is that there are many mundane reasons for noises in a house (especially if no-one is living there to do upkeep).
If your friend is sure that something feels wrong, than I suggest as a means to both relax your worries and a means of some spiritual protection...I suggest a simple smudging ritual around your friends apartment. It's meditative and depending on your belief, spiritually cleansing and protective. It involves getting into a calm state and with sage incense, wandering through the rooms and 'pushing' the sage smoke with a feather or suitably light object while thinking positive thoughts or chanting positive spells.
No. Poltergeists haunt one place or person. they don't move around
I suggest reading Dr Fador Nandor, he really stands out in the field on paranormal activity.
actually I believe that a poltergeist will follow someone if they like the energy the person is giving off. my coven master knows some about this sort of stuff. he said they would stay with the person until the energy is gone.
yes poltergeist can move in with her and cause alot of harm, The ghost activity and they do follow u, if they are comfortable in something that u have and u bring it with u they will follow you.
I have poltergeist activity my self and it can get pretty bad but dont be afraid of it .
yes yes they can. may be hard to understand but its true. as for what can be done to remove it well just call someone in ghost removeal. like taps or something
next time you hear anything call the cops first tell them you seen someone over there messing around. Then you will know without jail.
There is a book titled Poltergeist by Adam Woog. There is a house not to far from my place that is haunted by a poltergeist. People move in and out every two to three weeks its actually quite funny.
I used to live in an apartment where the pipes would bang so hard you'd swear it someone hitting the wall. Buildings make weird noises as they settle, walls creak, pipes bang, base board heating with air in it is always an interesting sound. People are so quick to jump to the paranormal they never take into consideration the rational things that could be going on.
Calm down, call the landlord, then take it from there.
I think the poltergiest was there first and some how your friend has done something to it
Is it possible it could just be some kind of animal? I believe in poltergeist and it could be but could be an animal too
Or a combination of the two. A rambunctious animal as it were.
one of the most scrutinized poltergeist cases Tina Resch
I suggest a google, as well as Fodor Nandor
having a medium who be the best route..... bring white sage in case
yes you need to be care they can be harmful but if you want to make sure it isn't human issue you could ask the land lord to see the appartment and see if someone has been in it.
my poltergeist relies on slack rugs and has only been "seen" in action once but the person who witnessed it
kept quite i later found out he was a ghost himself once.
Poltergeists are indeed dangerous and tend to pick children as their targets. However since this place has been empty did you ever consider that a transient may have chosen to make it their home....
yes they can and they are dangerous. I would get a medium or someone else who knows how to deal with these things rather than trying to do it yourself.
It could be a poltergeist but I would also check for it being the natural things as well, such as wild animals, people who got in, pipes, etc. I would talk to the landlord. I would also check out getting a medium too though. No sense in wasting time. I would definately go with checking it out at all ends just to be on the safe side though. Better safe than sorry.
it might be two things happening here,
One:it might be somebody squatting in that apartment and thus all the banging and clanging she has been hearing.
Two:it could be a poltergeist,if so then please go to a medium and seek advice they might even be able to lay the poor soul to rest.
It could be a number of things. Before jumping the gun, find out the history of the place, ask around and see if anyone knows anything about the place especially ppl who have been there for ages.
As has been stated could be animals, the building fittings etc etc. Once you are happy and learnt take the appropriate actions wether thats a medium, building maintenance etc.
I think that u should have a medium look into this. They would be able to tell u if there is a spirit there
the only spirits I have ever come across were the playfull kind . in the house I live in now , my girlfreinds familys old house , I know atleast 2 peaple have died here . There have been things move all the time , no damage , just moved . we have a runner rug in the basement that no matter what you put on it , heavy tool box , ect .. ., it moves a little each day till its about a foot away . then sometimes i'll see shapes and shadows out of the corner of my eye , but that happens everywere .
Hidden Cameras, or am i just old fashion, yet I can spook a camera as well so I am going for crafty ghost those poltergeist. I happen to know a few.
I agree with evilkitty.. Your best bet is to contact the landlord or owner.. Simple say you are concerned, because you are hearing a lot of strange noises coming from what is supposed to be an empty apartment.. And think it needs to be checked out.. It could be an animal of some kind or someone that is using the apartment that shouldn't be.. Maybe there is an explanation that is not paranormal. Then if nothing pans out call a medium..
If they have access to the doors they can wedge them ( mark the thresh hold so if it is opened it is being used)
then check them after activity.
i agree they can move in whenever they want and can cause harm if they want. I suggest a medium just like Black Hawk.
Poltergeists like many different hauntings can either haunt the person or the location. They can move objects and make noise. You can check to see if something else may be making the noise. If you are very concerned for the saftey of your friend and their children, you should find a paranormal team to come and find out whats wrong. Most paranormal teams will come sooner when it deals with children
If it is a poltergeist I would prbably try to consult someone who is an expert, but first it would be best to speak with the landlord and tell them about what you are hearing. They might be able to tell you somethings that will ease your anxiety.
iv had many in my homes and they do move the best thing to do is leave it alone bless the house and dont make it mad or ask for it to come to you by buging it
All 3 times that they made a "Poltergeist" movie...a member of the cast died after the movie hit theaters. Coincidence?
go ask some one who has keys to the place say you think someone is in there but they could follow her family so be careful
I had a spirit that moved into my house when my daughter was not even able to walk yet. At first I just thought it was my deceased brother watching over us. Things would be moved alot. My husband at the time didn't believe me until he was home one night & banging in the wall started. Each time we moved it would follow us. After we divorced it seemed like it was trying to make it's presence known more often. My daughter was older & was seeing the things going on. It wasn't until I was living on my own that it , she, finally showed herself to me 1 time. People that would come to my house always felt her presence. But, now that I am getting my life under control, it seems she has moved on. So, I guess she was just sent there to watch over me.
A poltergiest can definately hurt them and use move in. Yet, just because you hear things banging on the walls doesn't mean that's what it is. She has a son well I have a daughter young too, trust shit gets thrown at the walls.
They are very angry spirits and can cause harm to those around them, it would be a good ideal to make sure it knows it is not welcome in the home, but usuallly they don't move from their place of origin, most likely it will stay put where it is.
Yes they really can be there and harm them...so they need to becareful
I think that first you have to contact the landlord and rule out someone or some animal being in there. You should not go into the apartment yourself. Let the cops go in there if need be, but I would say the best thing to do from the sound of it is to move.
It's true, taking a pratical look at it first is the best idea. Make sure there are no animals living in the attic or basement, you'd be very surprised as to where animals can turn up.
There are a few theories to Poltergeists, they've traditionally been known to most often affect teenagers. Some wonder if the energy of a teen can fuel some activity that normally wouldn't be able to function on its own. A number of times, the "victim" would be marked with cuts or scrapes as well.
If you find that there are no animals living in the house, and no one is coming to any harm, I don't see any danger with just staying and hanging out.
However if you happen to hear "GET OUT"
Just leave.
sounds like kids or animals in the place. It is possible to be an entity that is connected to the place as well but that I don't think would cause any harm and poltergeists attach onto people not places I have heard
it is possible for a ghost to move in with a famiy if they have a strong similarity.
e.g. hobbies, interests
yes thats possible and the poltergeist thing could be harmful
When I was little.... we lived in this apartment . and next door to the left, there was this old green house. no body lived there. but there was active coming from the house. and my neighbor on the right, always seen the rocker rock and thought he saw his dead grandpa, watching over him..
yeah i think a poltergeist can move in and cause harm, but i've heard they're more into annoyance than actual harm.
before you pay money for a medium to come.. Check with the landlord.. It may not be a poltergeist it could be a spirt of another kind. Or it could be kids or some homeless people taking up in the apartment.. poltergeist usually follow the family that they start with..
A poltergeist sticks to haunting one person or home in my opinion.
A 'phantom' however is a different story to me.
I do feel the poltergeist could do that. Most are tricksters and pranksters trying to scare you or someone else away though. Sometimes they want their own space to. Sometimes they can actually be protective at the same time. They can sometimes know if it's a good or bad person in the house, and if they might cause you harm. But with a poltergeist it all depends how much energy they have as far as the amount of harm they can do.
As far as founding out about the other apartment...I'd say call the landlord maybe...if they even believe in that kind of thing. Other than that...I don't really know of any other way.
I would just regulate any strange activity.... though experts on this suject may have better insight
They can move in but it a matter of how much stress and anger is around. They feed of "bad" energy
A Poltergeist is the manifestation of spiritual energy - an echo of bad moods and emotions that has built up over time. A Poltergeist can be caused when a medium or someone with psychic potential has great stress and worries. While I really enjoyed it, the movie, Poltergeist was named poorly. Cain was not a Poltergeist.
J-
Couldn't it simply be the spirit of someone who was a bit ... devious in life?
the only thing like that Ive heard of are instances where someone moved in to a house were there were spirits that still remained there from previous owners or people who lived there years and years ago and dont want any disturbance in what they think is still there house...but there are demons who like to play with people also...so beware...
a poltergiest more or less plays tricks on your mind makeing you believe anything is possible .... yes they can move small things yes they can change theire voices into anyone you know.... can they do lots to play with your mind yes can they actually hurt you no....although they feed off of negative energies they really cant hurt you just make your life hell and make you believe your going crazy.........
Poltergeist (help·info) (from German poltern, meaning to rumble or make noise, and Geist, meaning "ghost", "spirit", or "embodiment") denotes a spirit or ghost that manifests itself by moving and influencing objects.

No; In my opinion poltergeists stick to one home to haunt.
It could be another neighbor in your apartment complex and you think its from next door in the empty apartment. I would just talk to your lanlord about it first before jumping to conclusions.
In my last house I was haunted by a poltergeist. I was almost killed by it many times. It'll only hurt her or her son if it feels threatened by them, or just doesn't like them (as far as I know anyway). But even though I was haunted by one, I don't know much about them so I don't know how much help I can be.
best bet is just let the landlord know and let him deal with whatever it is.

I have to agree, let the landlord know about the strange stuff and ask if you can go with him to check it out.
Yes, poltergeists can follow people, and the only way to find out about next door is to possibly get a medium.
Considering that poltergeists are no more than ethereal smoke and there is no substance at all to them, and they are from the spirit world, I seriously DOUBT that they can do any harm. They are no more than what is left of the spirit of the person who died. Yes, they can be scary, but ONLY if you give them substance by showing them you believe in them.
