We all know Houses and Covens make up a huge part of the VR Society. Some of us are highly involved, some of us belong to one and do nothing. Others hate that they were forcibly inducted, and even more can call their House/Coven a home with the Rave.
I was drafted into the House of La Bella Oscuridad as a mere catliff. While I understood the reasoning behind having houses or covens, I must admit I was frightened to join one. Mostly because I did not know what would be expected of me. I had seen threads where so many were upset about being forcibly inducted and then required to do so many favor points, leveling up fast, and having a good profile to help with the House’s score.
Luckily, for the most part my fears were irrational. The requirements that I once was so afraid of were not nearly as bad as I once thought. LBO doesn’t have a strict favor point requirement, but I still play hang man all the time. There were a few members who really went out of their way to answer all my questions about graphics and scroll boxes and everything else I could think of to enhance my profile.
My House Master (Darkness Bound) and all my other housemates were incredibly welcoming. The House forum allowed us to get to know each other pretty well with such threads of the “daily grumble” or the “getting to know you thread.” I am truly grateful for the friends and housemates I have gotten to know since being inducted into LBO.
La Bella Oscuridad has much more to offer than just the community. There definitely is an emphasis on creativity inside LBO. Some of the other halls center around art, history, and music. There is even a philanthropy where thus far the House has adopted 4 soldiers and sent them little care packages to put a smile on there faces.
There is so much that goes on in LBO, I wonder what all the other Houses/Covens provide and what everyone else’s satisfaction level is with theirs. How important is your house or coven to you? What are you favorite things about it? How active are you in your House/Coven?
I have to say i have only been here a short time and am still very apprehensive about the role i will be expected to fulfill one i have been inducted into a house/coven. I would really appreciate it if members of other houses (if allowed of course) would explain more about how they work and maybe allay the fears of those of us who don't fully understand.
i was inducted too but now i love it there jsut waiting to find out my duties as hte new activities officer
xx
I love were im at ....wouldn't want any other coven!!!! We are one big happy family.*smiles*

While I can't speak for the members of House Eternal- we also do not have strict requirements. All I ask is for them to interact in our forum, numero uno.
Eternal is a House created from various spices. We are a gem with many different facets. For those who do not participate, it's their loss- we are colorful, dark, creative, funny, and ever-moving forward. No one can ever say we did not offer a welcoming place where members could find response, like-minds, or even respectful conflict. There is no reason for anyone to feel alone in Eternal~ everyone is always answered.
As for my opinion- the House is what it is because of the members. I am proud to have the Eternal icon next to my avatar, when so many quality people have it as well.
i really enjoy the society system of VR, its the main reason i get on here anymore, as its nice to get to know people personally and not have to worry about status. i have met many great friends through the sites coven/house societies
I personally would feel lost without one. Our brain feeds of information and knowledge, whether it be something small, or something substantial.
The society system provides for another place for our minds to explore, have fun..more general discussion are discussed to others far more diversed.
The atmosphere is generally more relaxed then 'main forum' and the fear of your threads being RIA'd is less likely (unless you do something incredibly stupid and childish.) Your point of view is openly welcomed which dosen't always have to be about vampires, the paranormal etc.
I couldn't imagine VR without a society.. I'd simply be bored. There's much more to do with it and it's your chance to play an active role within this site. I know many of us find it difficult to participate with main forums, so this is an easier way to contribute whilst making friends along the way.
There are a lot of people from my house sitting on my Yahoo! messenger list (and MSN). They have helped me to create my profile (I bet they got really sick of me asking how to do things...lol).
As for a role... you'll have to look at my profile to see. You know that a house is good when there is no reason to post in the main forums anymore because the House forums are so complete.
My House does not ban threads of personal nature, political, or religious nature. It is understood that it is a privelage and people with unclear posts or who behave unacceptably know about it. I am very thankful for an outlet to discuss these things because I simply do not get many oppertunities like that they way things are right now. I have had soem very good converstaions with the people in my House.
I was actually kinda confused when I was inducted.. since they didn't exist one day and then... BAM! there they were and I was in the one I am in now still. Once I knew more, I was actually quite excited about it... no fear.. no nervousness.. simply excited :-D
My House is just great, I don't know if I would have stuck with VR without it.
I wasn't inducted, I was asked ever so nicely and given the chance to join if I wanted to. I am so lucky I did. I bought up my premium membership as a result of joining the House.
Its a place where I can check things out before getting too off-base on the main forum. Everyone is so helpful, some people go out of their way to help others out - we have folks who make stuff, help out with html things or have a really good knowledge of the rave and life in general. The amount of support and genuine friendship in House Eternal is amazing.
Its also a place where you can have a rant and find out that you're not the only one that feels that way.
Our House even tries to help others, mostly whelps, who have questions about the rave that they fear will seem silly if asked - if one of our adopters doesn't know the answer, you can bet that someone in the House will know how to answer the problem.
I'm rattling up towards Sire ever so quick here and i know it will give me the chance to move on and away, maybe make my own Coven - but apart from Cancer or my House Master Images, wild horses couldn't drag me out of my house.
I was inducted into a house, I was explained everything, I am happy.
I was just inducted earlier today to The House of Madadh-Alluidh.
I admit I am nervous though excited. I tend to be a quiet person but be active as much as I can.
I am looking forward though to see what actually feels like being apart of something that is very creative and enlightening. Yeah!!
Wow! thank you so much for all the replies guys, you've all really put my mind totally at ease. I will definitely go and check out all the main pages about he houses now.
Feeling really happy :)
L x
I was able to read about all the different houses and covens and then I asked to join the one I thought would suit me the best. I was lucky enough to be accepted and have been there ever since. I have found friendship, help, humor and challenges in the House of Umbrae Octo and am very happy there. As suggested earlier, I was glad I got the chance to check out all the others before choosing as there are some truly amazing people out there creating places for those of like minds and ideals to join in smaller groups. I think the VR society system is fine and truly what you make of it. I chose to make my experience there fun and have had the help of some great house members and the House Master Jason to make my experience great.
Keep an open mind and try to have fun.
I was in two and still in one and I am happy about it, I think its a way to make ppl feel welcome and for those who consder being induce by force a bad thing look the otehr side of the medal, you have been chosen to be part of that coven/house, they chose you out fo the other ppl on vr, see it as an honour, if you hate the one you are in ask to be trade, never know, fi you tellw hy, for exemple I was trade cause I am a rper and the one I was in did not do that, so the one I ask to go in did so it was a good deal for both coven, one gain a player and th eother favors. And me? A place I can rp at will, so look what the coven/house do and are made for and see you might find on you like, and if you dont want to be in well you are on the worng site, cause here its part of the vampire rave site you cant get out of it.
I even personally plan on having my coven soon...(crosses fingers and toes) so beward you might like mine
I was inducted early yesterday morning into The House of Madadh-Alluidh. I can tell you that already I adore my housemates and masters. Not only are they helpful, but they also welcomed me into their family immediately. I feel the Houses and Covens on VR heighten the sense of belonging in the community
I know how you felt, I just got inducted into the House of Madadh-Alluidh a few hours ago and I was a bit upset because I thought it was just a waste of time since i'm rarely on VR, but I was a bit nervous as well and I still haven't gone to the forum to meet the other members and I don't think I plan to.
I'm only required to earn 15 points a week for favor so that's all i'm going to do since the last thing I need is people higher up getting mad at me and making my VR life miserable if I don't do anything to help the house, even though it's their own fault for pulling me in there. *shrugs*
Not being in a house or a coven - I can see why the idea of being inducted is somewhat intimidating. Especially if you don't have a lot of time. When I first joined I read about all the societies and was amazed at how different they all seemed.
DarknessBound supplied the links, so please those not members of a house or coven should go check them out... any of you can visit each house and coven main page to read up on them as well as the members list.. always easy to approach someone within that particular house or coven that interests you.
I had a message from Sabastion one day and we sent a few back and forth when I was a marplot and I liked what I saw and heard from him..so when I hit caitiff, I messaged him and viola! I was a member of a great and fun house. Houses and covens are a great place to chat, share what's going on in your life, a place to learn and to grow, and to laugh.
Be active and earn some favor - easy :)
I was just inducted into the House of Madadh-Alluidh and an excited to be a part of this level of involvement on VR. I plan to be an active participant.
Personally I think it should be a persons choice where to go, although I'm happy that some that were inducted are happy where they are at.
I had the same worries when I was inducted into one of the first covens. I have transferred houses quite a few times, to get a full experience.
I'd have to say the house I am in now has brought a very positive experience to my time on the Rave. I have more then a few fellow house members that I would call close friends. The forum keeps us in touch with one another, and there's so many people to just rant to when you're not having the greatest day.
I'm very active in my house; I try to win as much favor as possible. I also try to participate in the forums. I love getting to know the people in our house (especially the newbies.) Being a member of Caomhnóir-an-Eolas has just overall enriched my VR experience.
I will respond directly to your questions. My coven has no meaning to me. It simply does not play a role. I chat with whom I like( some actually belong to the skunk coven others do not). I rate whom I desire to rate and rate them as I please (imagine a requirement that a member MUST rate other members with a 10).
I must admit I do write in my journal about the the coven master from time to time. He actually visits every now and then to see what I have written
But beyond that it has no meaning
the hoses / covens are a big part of vr .... and i think cancer did a great job in creating them......our coven dosent induct we feel its better when they come to us and ask to join ....iam very happy were i am and i have some wonderful friends in ours...... we are truley a family.... i think the newer members should read up on covens and houses and see what one fits them there are alot to choose from and they are all wonderful ...........
I personally do not think it's fair to force anyone to do anything that don't wish to do. There are endless places for vampires to meet one another. If I did not like the house I was forced into I would simply leave.I don't think it is fair at all, and it seems a bit childish.

My house rocks.. they tolerate a lot of my nuances that I'm sure other covens and/or houses might not...
...they play the role of making me feel at home in a place where I would otherwise feel very out of place... my house leadership shows a lot of compassion, kindness, understanding and tolerance all around VR...
It's quite a relief to know all that everytime I log in here... without it, I highly doubt I would have stuck around this long.
I love my house; I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The only fear I had before being inducted is that I would be forcibly inducted into a different house before I let Images know I'd reached Caitiff. I had the advantage of already knowing the House Sire before I joined the Rave. Right off the bat I knew where I wanted to end up.
I feel the same way. I don't think you should be inducted to a house or coven. But if you are, I am sure it is because that House or Coven wanted you.
I have not been inducted into one yet, and I hope I won't be. I found one I really like but I have to be level 8 before I can get in. I am working on that.
I still feel like I really am not worthy of being in one yet, but I'll never feel ready till it happens...haha.
There are many that are interesting, and I have met many people from many Houses and Covens. Everyone is always so nice and helpful. So, I know where ever I go, I'll be welcomed.
I do have one question, though. 'When you become a member of a House of Coven, it is still ok to talk with ANYONE on VR, even if they are in a different one, right?
I was glad to be inducted into the house of Madadh-Alluidh...
They have been so kind and patient with me...I love it already
Stormy...Of course you can talk to anyone even if youre inducted into a House or Coven.
I didnt ask to be inducted to LBO, but I am sure glad I was. For all those who say that they wouldnt want to be in a Coven/House, how do you know that?
Stormy good point and I agree with ya.
To the other post, I have been in and am still in other houses and covens and I am quite happy. I said I think its wrong to force anyone to do something they have no control over. It's just wrong and I would not do that to anyone.
stormy0048
yes you can talk to anyone on vr once you are in a house or coven.... i have lots of friends in many houses and covens.....
thats a good point images.....
There are alot of awesome houses and covens here... I am very happy to be apart of my house I lov it and the ppl we have in it... I was told If id prefer a different one theyd try there best to make me happy... but I wouldnt leave unless forced to... all thats asked is do your part earn your favor and be active in both the house forum and this one!
And I know if i was to have any problem I'll I have to do is say something and I'd have e1 there to do what they can...
Its nice to hear about all the houses and coven though... This is a great discussion to have...
and Eberith welcome I do hope we get to know you better :o)
I like my coven very much...It has some strong friendships and our coven master..(Robin3)..is very understanding and is of great help...Sharing information is a big thing there and most of the coven practices Wicca...I have a page there that is in the works and do what I can with hangman..So I guess what I'm saying is I'm proud to be in the coven of the Vampire Dove.
Well I for one do not understand the reasoning behind the houses/covens . That was never explained to me .
VampyreSpawn.
Read the FAQ of Vampire Rave to better understand it. Besides, what is there not to understand about the society system? It is pretty self explanatory.
I was asked to come into my Coven and I am so glad I am there. Coven of the Vampire Dove. I have learned alot, I have contributed so much of myself. I am thankful to find a place where I can exercise my mind.
I have found so many wonderful people.
i was originally inducted into my coven , but since then i have made the best of it and would not mind one bit if i stayed here till i rott , i truly enjoy it
I've now read all about the different houses and covens and i have to say i understand a lot more from reading this thread as well. I have a few tips on things to work on to try and make sure i end up in the house i feel would suit me best.
Thank you for all your help
L x
I LOVE my coven! It is like a second family to me, I am fairly active in it, and I plan on remaining active and not leaving, unless all of them leave too! lol
We talk a lot, we have "conferences" where we all get online and use our microphones.... I have never felt soo accepted or like ppl cared about me so much as I do with some of the ppl here on VR, my "family" includes most of them, although others who arent in my coven, are still my extended family!
This thread has been a wonderful way for those of us still unaffliated to learn how others feel and not just those who are unhappy. It has also told me how to explore and learn more about the different societies available, so thank you all.
For me, Lux is a place for me to find a friend to rant to, or a place to just hang out. I love that we don't have to earn a certain number of favor every week (mostly due to the fact that there are some weeks I just can't get online), and that there are so many great people that are part of my coven.
I have found more friends on here, and more so in my coven then I ever would have at school or work. I am eternally grateful for being part of a coven on here. It gives me a sense of belonging, and it has provided me a place to really get to know myself.
So, I guess those are my reasons as to why I enjoy the coven/house aspect of VR. :)
I love Lux! I was a member of another coven once upon a time. It was a horrible experience....and then one day Poof! I was traded. It was the best thing that could have happened. At first, I didn't feel like I was fitting in....but then as time went on, I found a few friends and now I couldn't be more happy with my home....and as for that 'other coven'...they are no longer around...go figure.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, no matter which coven or house you are in and I hope that your coven/house members are happy in 2007!
Im glad this was made because it lets people like me see which house or coven we would wont to join....I was introduced to the Rave by my mom....I thought it was going to be something to waist time but I came to relize that im addicted.....I have met some nice and not so nice people but all together this is a wonderful place
I love being in The House of Nocturnal Retribution. I have never felt more at home anywhere else. They are wonderful beings. For me, I would not want to be anywhere BUT there.
I have yet to join one because I am not really sure how. I am not able to spend much time online so I didn't think I could join one. If that's not correct please message me and let me know how all this works.

DruidnessSteph and all others who are asking for information about the Houses and Covens:
When you join a site like this, it is up to you to read all the information that is laid out for you. Look at the Main Menu. Everything you need to know about this site is there. Don't wait around for someone to send you personal messages to learn about this community. Besides, DarknessBound has already left links for everyone in this VERY thread for you to find out. I don't understand why people keep asking these questions.
Being new to VR this topic is a little intimidating, but at the same time excites me and I look forward to hopefully have my profile in order enough that a coven would want me as a member. Any tips for the newbie?
I was actually asked by someone who, at the time, was one of my most spirited debate opponents in a few of the more political general forum topics, if I would like to be inducted into her house. Now, some ten months later, I am so very glad they chose me. There is a great amount of friendship there, I've gotten guidance, help, and friendships from it and can't possibly think I've ever put enough back into it. They are a wonderful place to be sure.
Well thanks to this discussion more than putting my mind at rest i have got myself a premium membership for the next 12 months at least. I was holding off it because i wasn't sure if i would be able to get on with the inductions but having read all your comments, even those who were forcibly inducted and now love their house/coven i feel good about it.
So THANK YOU ALL for sharing your views
L x
It is what you make of it really. Those people who is determined it is bad will not get a good experience because of all their own negativity instead of proceeding with an open mind.
I have been lucky in the Covens I have been in, including my own. The great thing, for me at least, about being in a house/coven is the feeling of unity and team spirit you have.
Also the fact that you can learn heaps from one another and sharing your own knowledge as well.
I am a new and proud member of The Vampire Doveand I love being able to interact within the coven, It is a very supportive and caring environment and all the members are nice......I find that im eager to log on everyday and see whats happening with the forum....it's quite addictive
the bottom line my coven rules!!!
In all complete utter honest and candidness, from 2 experiences I find houses or coven useless to one man gangs
I belong no where, and resent being inducted to join a group for protection that never materializes, and in the end it is just another false sense of trust for me to belong to something and then be stabbed like a rubber duck until all the air has dissipated from my being.
I love everyone while I am there, give my all, am ignored, and then when I get angry, I am disrespectful. One of the worst things in life a person can do is ignore your life quest, or reason for being rationale for living.
I do the opposite and it is taken as an affront, I try to be useful and skew lives and then am branded inane insane and am kicked to the curb again and again.
The third and last time I join the Rave I will have no allusions about having any family of any kind, or even meet any groups false banner quota theme house dohickey, since they have no concept of what it means to be real, to have literacy talents, or arts and sciences for that matter.
I find life to be weak on the planet in general, and I always get my hopes up in life only to have them shattered agaian and again in the total and complete lack of soul on this planetoid to relate to a good human being on any simplistic level whatsoever.
But if life is a living death it is impossible to kill oneself, so you do the nect best thing, just leave, and find where one belongs.
Do not at all be confused by my brutal candid clarity.
I was in 2 houses before I created my own coven and I have to say that each society is different and the way they are run and the interaction is different in varying degrees as well.
I also believe that forcible induction works for some as it doesn't work for others. As it's been stated before though, read each society page and contact a member if you are interested. (read the FAQ 1st) And perhaps you'll find the perfect fit. Perhaps it'll take a few societies before you find what fits for you. And if you don't like where you are? Pick up sire and don't go where you don't want to. :)
I've chosen always to follow my heart, to be around those that feel most comfort with.
At times, it has felt as though the concept of Houses and Covens was either taken way to seriously, or viewed and ridiculed as a joke.
Eventually, I've learned that they are a place to share without the prying eyes of the world at large- to be thought of as a potential for whatever you want to make for it, or gain from it.
They are also places of support, should it be needed, for smiles and for seriousness, where the ability to express can be had, without worrying if some trumpet-blowing asswipe will try to shoot you down, just becasue they can.
Or for some, it can be a purgatory.
And yet others, will never see value, nor be included in this aspect of the site, simply because they are better off being left to their own devices, with which they usually blow themselves up (and maybe a few around them).
There have been painful lessons during the evolution of the system, which has brought a great deal of suspicion between houses and members who might have been friends, but for the petty manipulations and deciets which were played out.
I guess a skepticsim towards others motives, whilst healthy, can lead to fear and mistrust. This is what a House is meant, for me, to represent- A barrier against the BS and backstabbing.
But sadly, there are those with nefarious agendas who care nothing for their House-mates and instead, only for their own position and power trip.
I will agree with Kytrin, the House of Nocternal Retribution is a very cool place, since being inducted back at a lvl 5,ive found a place to be comfotable and Mistress Night Blossom rocks, our numbers are small but our quality is high,at least we like to think so :)
I would have to say the coven i am on now is my home away from home. I have great friends and family in the coven. We are one big happy family as lil choas said before me. We work as a family and are alway there for each other.
I am a very active member of the coven and hope to stay that way.
Very well said Stabb
I agree it sometimes is a place for power trips. But usually they wind up power triping on the wrong person and it blows up back in their faces.
I love the fact that it becomes a haven for some from the dregs and drolls/trolls that sometimes frequent the general areas.
Ive heard horror stories about all of this....I must say that its not all as bad as it seems. Alot of "self-made" vampires/wolves are alot more into making people believe they are something. The ones that allow these things to happen are much less fearful, but way more intoxicating!
I was ASKED if I would like to join Caomhnoir-an-Eolas, not forced. And I have never regretted, not even for a minute, joining. I love my House - we are fun and wacky. Daire's a great Master, and Darkest Desire keeps things in order. I could not ask for a better House!
Of course, I probably would move to another House, just to get to know others on VR, but Caomhnoir-an-Eolas will always be the closest to me, in heart.
I don't know what horror stories you've heard, but my house never makes anyone believe they are something they are not. They are all accepting people, and although I've only been a part of the house for a few nights, I know that they go by the old saying "to each his own." No one can make a person believe anything.
I agree FortunateFool we were inducted about the same time. No one can make you believe differently than you do. I like the structure of houses and covens. We serve the Prince however we can. After all we are vampire right? On a personal level I think the competition and the sense of belonging to a group is a good thing.
Exactly. If anything the houses and covens keep people active in the community. They help eachother on almost every level. It's a support system for the Prince and for the members. I don't see why some look negatively at it
I just joined the Rave today and was a little unsure about the house-coven system until I read this thread. I have talked to a friend of my on the rave who is in the Coven of La Rose Noir. She told it it has been a postitive experience for her.
Yay!!!! Welcome to the rave and I hope you do well here. You'll see it's not scary. Promise!
The society system has nothing to do with RPG or the belief of being a vamp/lycan.
Infact my coven is geared away from that and is focused on a military structure.
I started it as a dungeon, but I have restructuured it to be only a place for those that wish to be there ( with the exeption of a few "cherrful" members ).
A coven/house is what you make of it.
I have many people I forced in to start with and now swear by my coven as it is the best fit they feel for them.
I have even had whelps ask ahead to be in and why they hit lvl 5 they ask to be in still.
i used to be in the coven of the stone guardians but i've just been moved into the coven of the crossed swords and i've been made assistant coven master which i'm very happy about. it's just starting off, so we're just trying to get things set up, i'm hoping that if anyone becomes a member of the coven they will earn favs and stay active in the forum. I'm happy where i am now and hope we do well in the future.
As a new member of the House of Umbrae Octo, I must say I was leary at first about being in a house or coven. I wasn't even contemplating on being in one. A friend who is in Umbrae Octo asked if I wanted to be considered and I thought about it and then it happened. I love my house, I love my new found family. It's great so far!!
~Z~
I sent my application to the Nocturnal a long time ago and i was acceptded, and since then i havent had even a thought about leaving. There is a lot going on there and we are truly as one.
The houses, and the one coven I was in were all different, but I think we all strive together as a community. Combining all aspects of life. It's nice to know that VR is not just a place were you can be, but with the houses/covens, it brings a sense of family. I was a little bit ansy about getting into the houses myself, and I took my time in making sure of exactly where I wanted to go. My first house was UO I loved that house, the people in it, and the house master was very kind. Then onto having a coven with Batchyld, and then Eternal, Madhad, and now Daire's house. It is been an adventure in it's own right. Every place different, but very strong in bonded. I dig it♥~NFA
I have read a lot about the Houses and Covens and I must say they confuse me entirely Im not saying when I'm a high enough level i dont want to be in one cause I would love to be a part of one but. I have looked all over where do you find these things you need to to earn favor and what not its not really explained that well.
I have to say that I absolutely adore my coven, my mates, and my master *winks*...I wouldn't trade where I am at for anything!!!
UrielArnauld...
Each house or coven is different in what that require... if you go to the links under societies and go through each house and coven you'll learn more about each one and what they require from their members!
They bind us, save us, and welcome us into the darkest depths of the vampire community. To find the heart of a vampire you must look in its home :-)
I too am somewhat apprehensive about the society system. I thank all who have posted to this threat with their experiences.
Would someone be willing to discuss what criteria are used to determine who the House / Coven invite to join or forcibly induct?
I have to say LBO would have been my choice of houses in the first place. I think the purpose behind these is to make you feel like a real part of the family. To get us more involved in the rave. It keeps you from feeling like some random person on a website.
All of the members at my house did just that. From helping me with a few tricky html codes to making me smile. Really intellegent people with a good attitude. I have to say that I never would have considered people that I chat with on the internet friends until now.
I enjoy so many things about Vampirerave.
Coven membership just adds more to the experience.
I have great fun and really enjoy being a member of the Ancients.
Everyone there has been so nice to me.
Plus hangman and 5x5x5 are a nice change of pace at times.
KCRC that's all going to depend on what the coven or house master wants inside their society.
Some are looking for RPG'ers, while others are looking for the darker side of life. It would all depend on the master of said society. There has to be a general "feel" of the society for a person to be a right fit. Sometimes a master may go out on a limb and induct or invite a person they think would spice things up in a coven or house. Or sometimes they may just induct a person and use them as trading material. That's a master's prerrogative.
If you are still curious, read the coven or house main page. Many discuss what they are all about. Perhaps you can see if you fit any society.
And if that doesn't answer your question, you could always message a house or coven master and ask. I would answer. ;)
so far no interest in me has been shown , which is ok by me since i'm not that social anyway, but, i'm also not that tech in anything doing w/ improving the graphics on my pro. i'm ubderstanding that participation is important, so what does it matter about profile graphics. why is hangman so important. i am 53 and i was taught hangman at the age of 3. i rather like where i'm at, my coven/house creation(unoffical of course), i belong tono one but yet could be needed by all. THE COVENAT HOUSE OF PRIDDEAUX!
I was inducted into my coven & at first was riled by the fact that i was in a coven i had no clue about. now that ive gotten to know a lot of people in my coven & have talked to our coven master i actually like it. at first i never thought that i would but some of the things that everyones thought of in there is quite fun in its own way
I do not fear being inducted or the resposabilaties that follow. I just wish that I am inducted period.
I am not sure what the rules are
but I am sure a vampire can be reinducted into a house after they've been kicked out
I think this is wrong
I think if they judged your character wrong once then they have proven them unworthy of inclusion of the character into their house.
Unless of course forgiveness is a vampire trait whereas in life forgiveness is not human at all...
you get me?
satanicvampyre,
I can understand your confusion. I remember mine LOL
The society's standing in VR depends on the average rating of its members' profiles - so your profile does become important.
The standing also depends on favor, won by the members for the house, unless you're really good at 3 dimentional 5 square tic tac toe, the only other way to gain favor at the moment is to play hangman.
So while participation is important, these other side things will have an impact on your society's standings

Vampariah- I think if someone has been kicked from a House/Coven there is damn good reason. And as for traits of vampires or humans, well- we are all humans here, hopefully having a good time with an interactive vampired-themed website. If you are confused about this- maybe you joined the wrong site?
Sounds like u r part of something really cool, hope that one day I will find a House/Coven that has so much to offer not only me but others outside of our society...
When I was asked to join The Coven of La Rose Noire, I was excited to be asked into their loving family. I think we do pass on our knowledge of life and contribute to the VR community. Especially those who are gay and need a place to belong (I mean we have a good number of gays in our coven, including myself) lol.
Thank you to everyone who responded to my questions both here and via messages.
I see naw that I made a wrong assumption regarding the House / Coven societies here on VR. I was under the impression that the Houses / Covens more or less "hunted" for new members and that the "prey" had little to no say in the matter. I now see that while this is possible, it is not the only route into a House / Coven.
I will begin to look at the various information regarding the various societies and see if I feel there is a fit for me. If, in the meantime, I am "forcibly inducted" then I will just have to make the best of the situation and try to fit in as best as I can.
Again, thanks for the information.
I love my coven and the people in it are very friendly and helpful I just do not see myself any place else but here in this coven... :)!
Interesting, I deleted my old account named Varimathras for being dragged into a coven. Felt like I had to do so many things which I didnt have time to do and didn't care so much about.
My favorite thing has to be our house forum. It great for support, but it's also a place to laugh and make others laugh. As you pull together with others, you start wanting to participate in extra things they may offer.
For example, your house may choose to offer their own small contests to encourage you to win favor...maybe a few months premium membership on VR. Or maybe you help a house member to get a better profile so her ratings go up, which helps the house.
I highly recommend it...but you'll only get out of it what you put in, like anything else.
I fear I am a bad girl and have been traded a couple of times. I never remember house activities and as far as the games go for prince favor, I never really liked any of them. I don't expect any changes just because I don't like them but I don't feel I should be expected to play a game that I find unenjoyable. If you see my point. I love the rave, I love the people on it and i suppose that if I particiapated more, I would even enjoy the house thing. Truth be known, I come here to get away from thinking and just talk to people for the most part. The idea of having to remember to go here and do that and make sure I do enough of this every or week is counter productive to that. Again just my opinion
one thing I forgot to address, for most here, they came in after the houses were started and for them it is their responsibilty to read up on the site and decide if the houses are a reason not to join. I on the other hand, like many of us, were here before the pms the houses and all of that. I was not asked if I liked the idea nor was a asked if I wanted to be in a house.. I was simply put in one. I would have opted out if given the option. Until I reach a level 28 and at this rate that may never happen, it is useless to ask to get out as, just my luck, some one else will yank me back in.
Houses and Covens also make sure that like-minded people can discuss topics without getting bombarded with just one side of the story - they are also better suited to smaller deep discussions than these more public forums
