At a recent family gathering, a relative held forth on his beliefs about our origins. He firmly believes that we are aliens from another planet outside our solar system, and that we were left here on Earth as a kind of colonisation experiment........................ What do you think?

Its an interesting theory. I always thought that we were unknowing participants in a kind of inter-galactic reality tv show, a kind of experiment that's constantly monitored from somewhere else in the Universe. I think thats why people get 'abducted' by aliens, it's just the producers checking up on the species!

Theories seem to relate that we all have been placed on earth from somewhere, a dying planet, travelers to repopulate, Who Knows but in all cultures their seems to be this myth. Uncertain myself. but very plossible

Sometimes I wonder where my family is from. lol I don't think fro outerspace though.

While it is perhaps possible that some proto-life producing material came to Earth from space and was integrated into life on Earth, Humans certainly did not come from an Alien race. The genetic building blocks of all life on Earth are too similar across kingdoms and species to have seperate origins.

So maybe ALL life on Earth has some common extraterrestrial origin, Mankind alone is not "Alien" while the rest of the life forms on the world are "native" to Earth.

I persoanlly think that we are so disassociated from evolution that we cannot often assign it to our own history. But thats just what I think.

although there have been many interesting views on this. I would have to say, no i personally do not think we are aliens. But , that is just my thoughts.

i watched the craziest show on Discovery, it was about how the missing link was aliens. They had even found a skull that was carbon dated and everything, the scientific community simply said it was a mutated human skull, but the thing looks just like a grey with the features

If we were seeded here, it had to be back in the day of Australopithecus, around 4 million years ago. More than just that had to be seeded though, since we are 98.4% genetically similar to chimps and a little less similar to gorillas, the whole primate group of species would have had to be seeded.

i really believe that if we were created by intelligent design it maks more sense that we were created by an alien species than a god. i dont believe in evolution i think that is way off. but i myself am torn between the wanting to believe in an after life and that we were created by a god, but the facts for me state otherwise. i think there is more proof on earth that we were created by an alien life form than a god. i think when we die thats it there is nothing after wards but i am truely hoping that there is something.

If we were created by aliens then there is no after life, atleast in my opinion but i could be and im hoping i am wrong....

I think that the gist of the thread is supposing that humanity was transplanted here, as is, not engineered by an alien culture.

and either way you look at intelligent design we are not native to this planet. if god created us or if we are aliens then we are not natural. the only theory that would make us natural inhabitants in my opinion is evolution. and i dont believe in evolution

The problem is people think we don't relate to the environment as well as we should but tha has a lot to do with us using are intelligence over are instincts. I have seen or heard people survive in the wilderness because they accepted their instincts. There has been cases of wild humans who were raised by wild animals and have adapted to that environment naturally. I don't think we are so much at odds with the environment as so much we evolved over time to use creative methods to survive on this world.

Take it we have more in common with Apes then we do with any species including ourselves. Apes have similar if not exact features of us and we keep denying this day in and day out.

It is possible we came from another star but I doubt it. I do think maybe the ancients gods or the ancient God (to whatever you believe in) were from other worlds and maybe so happen were advance enough to create life.

We can't really say without true proof and it would be odd for our ancestors who have the intelligence to get us here to not have some record of were we come from. Yes things could happen over a period of thousands of years but still there has been no record of such event. The only records is that of human history that talks about ancient gods and so on and so forth. I have yet to see an Egyptian tablet or a Greek scripture or even in the bible itself that we come from another world directly.

But still it is hard to tell.

we are not evolved from apes - and Darwin never suggested we were. all that he claimed is that apes and man had a common ancestor - the protosimian, which is more like a lemur than an ape. it's sort of halfway between cat and monkey - so it is more accurate to say we are evolved from cats than apes.

there is palaentological evidence to show that man has evolved slowly from lemur like creatures, to early hominids, to homo erectus, and eventually to homo sapiens in very gradual stages. there is no missing link as such - all the links are there. whether neanderthal man ever featured in our ancestory or not is open to debate. it is thought to be possible, but there is no evidence to suggest it yet.

it is possible however that we are of extraterestrial origin. it is still a possibility that the first strands of DNA that grew and mutiplied in primordial soup may have actually arrived in a meteororite. there is also a theory that the flu virus came to Earth that same way. Flu is a relatively new virus that was unknown before the last century.

Hmmm maybe so but I heard varies theories on the subject of evolution and were we came from. I don't directly believe that we have a missing link. I do agree with that.

They did a study not that long ago on how mankind started walking upright. They believed it was the fact we once lived in the trees and learned by using the branches. It was interesting and I saw it so long ago that I can't directly remember everything.

Still we do have a relation with Apes not just by DNA. Not saying we evolved from them but much more like we evolved from a common ancestor. But then again all life has a common ancestor in the end. If you look at it even from an evolutionary look or a religious one we all have a common ancestor on this very planet.

You can't just make it sound like it is impossible.

In the end we all have some common ancestors with all life. The universe itself is connected with each other. We all come from the same energy and relate on some level.

Thinking beyond the scope of any genetics, or indeed any sciences who or what can actually prove that we are aliens, or if we are not aliens. On a different note, I do a few aliens myself but they are of the human race ;)

i think it makes for good tv and movies, but in real life, we are from here, and our ancestories. even though some of my friends often make me wonder!!!

I've always thought about it too......to us, we aren't necessarily aliens but to lifeforms on other planets or in other galaxies, that's probably what we would be considered as.

I personally have believed that some races on this planet came from other worlds or a world that was dying. My theory has been based on that indigenous people have a tendency to be basically behind in technology. Not due to being poor but due to the lack of understanding or desire to move forward.

I feel the druids, Aztecs and egyptians had at least been visited and taught to do the things they do.

But like i said its just my theory, and idea so don't shoot me down! Just expressing my thoughts. I don't believe there is a right or wrong in this case. And we always have the right to choose what we believe.

as much as I want to say the whole "you never know what is out side of our universe. We cant be the only ones around" I want to kick ur family member in the shin! To not understand someones beliefs and push it off as them being an alien is retarded.

I have never believed in evolution or creationism in the sense of a great god in some isolated place creating man then divorcing himself if it is even a he or exists to go his merry way. I believe man was genetically engineered by a race of beings that came here long ago. There are signs in things pertaining to the Annunaki so I am not saying that theory is necessarily correct but certain things point in that direction but I wonder...why should be be so driven to know? We are here and now and that is what we should live for in my opinion. Those that believe themselves vampyrics are always searching madly for their origins as well...if anyone ever finds out it will be interesting to know but if it goes against established religious beliefs it will be shoved under some carpet and supressed.

I don't have any solid theories on how/why humanity began. I really don't care; I'm just thankful to be here...However, no I do not believe aliens put us here/created us/et cetera.

Its a very interesting theory...na dyou never know its could be true...then again the theory that we came from apes could be true, the theory that we evolved from small human like dinosaurs could also be true...there are so many theories of how we came to be and how we can to dominant this planet! I know that theory was really popular in the 60"s as well. My Mum would comment on it once in a while.One of the theories I read was, the reason some are so passioate about going into space, is that we are trying to get home. I dissagree that we are aliens.I know my blood is not from any alien race like that.I feel that in my soul, more than I can prove it.

Heres an interesting thought I heard about. What if all life on earth is alien to earth. Namely it landed on earth as single cell life. Theres a little more to it then that but thats mostly what I rember.

I honestly don't believe we are part of some alien race. Now some of the theories involving this have very credible beliefs, but others are just people trying to find any answer they can.

To put it simply , I think it is fun to entertain the idea , but in the end I will still have to go with evolution.

If it's as some form of servitude, they wouldn't have waited for us to become so intelligent, and the same goes for reproduction or harvesting of genetic material. They would have made some form of contact or conquest by now- but that's just my opinion thusfar.

fascinating concept. perhaps aliens abducted a earth creature and mixed its dna with it and created a human prototype that mated with the earth creature, speeding evolution, it could have been a dog or an ape. its hard to tell. but its funny to think about.

You have no idea how many layers of cover-ups and false media brain washings there have been over the years.

I do believe that abductions are probable, but their study of us doesn't necessarily mean that God is an alien or that we are the result of their experiments.

I have my firmly set beliefs of how human beings came into existence like many other people, but I do not discount anything else either. I always say that when I die, I will find out how correct or wrong I was about a lot of things.

I think it is entirely possible for us to be put here by an alien life form. Whether it be for the purpose of an experiment or because of a dying planet is beyond me but I have always felt it was more of an experiment then anything to see how we adapt to different conditions that are placed on us.

I dont think that we are aliens from distant planets.But there is a lot of evidence that aliens did visit us ages ago.The Egyption culture had a lot of influence of Alien Culture,So did The Aztecs and the Mayans.If you look at certain Hieroglyphics they do show certain designs that are quite similar to Rockets,HoverCrafts and even Helicopters.I also think that we were visited by time travelers of our own kind.And if you look at Religion most Gods came from the sky....The halo might have easily been a space helmet which the people those days mistook.The angelic Wings for example might have easily been a mechanical wing that helped the alien to fly.People at that age drew comparisons to the closest things they could identify with.Hence the Feathered wings on Angels....

I guess it all depends on whether you believe in alien life forms at all? I tend to think that as i don't believe in the idea of God or the Devil then believing in aliens is just as far fetched. After all i believe in a lot of what i can prove and no-one has proved aliens and more than they have proven religious deities

i cant say that we didnt come from aliens. but i also cant say we didnt come from god or apes. i think that we evolve because we have to. because times change and seasons change and we have to survive. (if we came from apes, then there are still apes because they had no need to continue evolving)

I think people are forgetting a very good point that KCRC brought up: We have too much in common with other species to not be from this area.

Intelligent design, perhaps. Proving that, well it's really a question of faith.

Personally I think more along the lines of Mr.Smith, we are a virus. And by our own genetic programming, or need to succeed we fulfil that.

We change the environment to suit us. In that I could see higher intelligence "tweaking" with our genetic code to create a grand experiment.

However, I am not so arrogant to think that is what happened. Perhaps we are nothing more than a lucky round of natural selection that will soon create its own downfall.

I personally don't believe in Aliens that our species has conjured up. What I do hypothesize to be plausible, is that if the aliens we have been privy to see are real, the most logical explanation for them is that they are humans... only thousands, if not millions of years from now. Just like we look upon cavemen, Neanderthals and other homo-erecti today.

My reasonings are thus:
The aliens have huge black eyes and pale skin. They have two of everything just like us; arms, legs, hands, feet, eyes, nostrils. They have a mouth and large brain cavity. I imagine evolution has taken place and humans could look like tem in the future.
The big eyes are because they live underground or inside, because perhaps our atmosphere must be harmful to them. Their pale skin is also due to the same conditions. Not being in sunlight caused their skin to lighten and they probably need to go out at night. This requires them to have large eyes to see at night. Their slender stature is also indicative of their technological advances. They probably have found a way to ingest nourishment without any fats, which explains why they are so thin, yet able to move about.

This is, of course, all subjectional and hypothetical, since what do I know, I am only Jens. ;) Anyone have a better idea?

I think simply we came from a form of ages that over get smarter and walked more upright in the world that we became the top of the food chain so to speak on certian things.3
