i just wanted to know if anyone has ever done the "White Noise" thing ..... and got a response?.... not something from the computer ..... u urself.

I have never tryed it, but its all to do with Physics, like picking up a frequency from outer space and other dimensions.

White noise is a random signal (or process) with a flat power spectral density. In other words, the signal's power spectral density has equal power in any band, at any centre frequency, having a given bandwidth. White noise is considered analogous to white light which contains all frequencies.

An infinite-bandwidth, white noise signal is purely a theoretical construction. By having power at all frequencies, the total power of such a signal is infinite. In practice, a signal can be "white" with a flat spectrum over a defined frequency band. I got this from wikipedia

I did ...i set a recording devise in my office at work...and there is some definet activity.

I've tried it before. I used to take a recorder etc with me when i went to grave yards. only got one response...all others were duds.

I tried it once before.I could hear somthing on my recorder,but could not understand what it really was or saying.Never did it again.

I might still have it. It would take some time to find it. I did that about 6 years ago.

I only first heard of this when I saw the movie "White Noise", there's a sequel coming out soon that looks really good I might add.

It seems that spirits these days are finding more and more ways to communicate with the living. I think it would be interesting to experience communication in this manner. I'm definately interested in trying it out someday.

Nah and i dont think i would ever try it...with my luck i would end up getting haunted for the rest of my life..lol

i have and quite a few times...been ghost hunting for 17 years now and well, i dont have alot on tape but the process does work :)

I have tried, but I only get muffles of voices, it always sounds like they say something like "im right here"

E.V.P. is something that completely fascinates me. I know of a few places here in Havasu that are supposed to be haunted. I have often thought about taking some audio equiptment, and perhaps video as well, there and see what I can pick up. I have been talking about doing that for a while. I should just do it.

And I would have thought Cemetaries would be the most conductive places for white noise activity.

Here is a suggestion, anyone with an old answering machine, leave it on for about 10 minutes and see if it picks up anything after conversation.

Ah, the answering machine. I got some crazy shit on my answering machine. Thought it was an old tape! lol I believe that you can get it from your TV set also. It is quite a strange experience. Phone lines are pretty good for picking it up also.

Ack, you mean to tell me that Weird Al, was onto something with the phone that you can talk to the dead with...Creepy.

But then again, there is an old urban legend about this Grandpa that had died; He loved his wife so much that after he had died, his wife started recieving phone calls with only static on the other line.

After about three days of the constant phone calls, a funeral attendant at the morgue was cleaning some of the newer crypts. Loe and behold, there was a cord from the nearby public phone inside the very same place the Grandpa was placed in...CREEPY!!

I have never tried it but Kelly a good friend of mine did and she says she got a response and it scared the hell outta her, lol I would like to try though just to see if it's all true.

I read somewhere that white noise is the echo from the big bang that started the universe.... if so how can it have any signficance to paranormal activity... any more than say the kettle boiling or the loo flushing....

Ill be honest i tried it once and thought it to be redundant and since patience is not a virtue to me i gave up rather quick not for fear just thought it wpould be childish and nothing would happend and ever since i never gave it a second thought but now that i think of it i would liek a female demon to come out andd take advantage of me

I've tried it a couple times, never picked up any specific words, but I could definitely hear what I can only describe as a murmuring. I just wish I still had the recordings...

A great way to get some EVP, and the method I used, is to get one of those old radio cassette players, tune it to a blank channel, make sure you have a new blank tape, and press record. It won't record any external sounds, it'll just record whatever is on the frequency it's tuned to. Thats how I got my murmurs, and it's also a very relaxing sound, turned down low, if you're having trouble sleeping.

I tried E.V.P. but I got nothing.

It's really cool. My mom and I used to do it around Halloween, when the veil is at the thinnest point and we could hear all sorts of spirits on the radio static. And don't worry, even if you hear something bad, they can't get at you. They're in a radio box. :)

There are several sites that feature white noise; still will not play with spirits. They can get in the way of work that needs doing.

other than using white nose from fans to help me sleep, i've not found aother use for it.

I've always thought it would be interesting to put a recorder here in the mortuary chapel on a quiet day. There are some other rooms in here also that just don't feel right. As soon as I can track down an audio tape I'll have to give it a try.

I have gone to graveyards and too my work for recording sounds and i havent heard anything in the recordings that I have recieve. I will cont. to try to record sounds and see what toye of noises if any show up on the tape if any at all.

During some of my classes, I'll just suddenly hear some white noise. It's just weird that it is just me and someone talking in my ear through the noise. God, I'm just weird.

It's not as peachy as it sounds...I promise...I hear white noise quite frequently and it can become very distracting, and can give you a pounding headache if you don't listen to it intently.

it has happened to me unexpectally while i was watching TV and a storm cut out the power and the TV went to that snow stuff. It's was really weird and freaked me out alot.

After seeing that movie... HELL YEA i tried it!! lol I never got any response from it... but i always tried it in the car while i was driving and listening to static on the radio. My girlfriend was always too freaked out to let me try it at home because at the time, where we were living, we def had other worldly presences and i dont think she wanted to know for sure.

I want to try it at my new house. We are renting and though the energy there feels good... the cats sometimes look around frantically and puff out (u know when cats get scared and their tails fluff out and get big) yea that happens randomly and whenever i go Look around, I find nothing. So I might try it tonight... and pop back by and let u know if i get anything good!!

Some friends and I do it all the time and get some cool responses. Once my friend was recording and was looking for her calendar. Everytime she said where is my calendar the voive said look behind u. The calendar was behind her. It was very interesting to play teh tape back and hear that.

I tried it long ago as a child. I left the 120min (the longest recording length I could find) tape running while I was out.

I found nothing but outside noise (traffic, planes) on the entire tape. Since I didn't discover anything I never did it again. I should give it another chance tho, perhaps find a place where someone had passed away.

Personally, I believe it all to be just stuff previously recorded, yet improperly erased as the new recording went on the tape. If someone can take a brand new unrecorded-on tape and capture and EVP on it, then I would be more inclined to check deeper into it. Oh well.

There is a rather "active" graveyard in my home town and since halloween is coming up i thought about doing this possibly halloween night. But I would like to record the whole night, i thought about using my mp3 player which records like 80 hours or something. But will that work? or should i do the tape recorder with it tuned to a blank radio station? or is there a better way?

Okay, I am confused...what exactly is the difference between white noise and EVP's? They seem pretty similar from what I've read here. Would you go about trying to pick both things up the same way? O.o

ive gotta say white noise was very lil heard of until that movie came out which honestly was too slow dragged for too long and practically made a mockery out of the true white noise phenomena

it is worth the time to try. until they come out with digital voice recorders that make thier own white noise, people relied on either a television on no channel or running water out of a faucet to get the white noise affect for the old type cassette recorders. and it was very effective :)

iv read some different ways of getting a good result and i would have to say that the best way would be to use old tech not digital as it pics up to much outer sound

I've been able to pick out voices in the white noise, but never purposely. I wouldn't mind trying solely for that purpose though.
