Has anyone ever been to the home of Edgar Allen Poe? If so did anything happen to u? I'm planning to take a trip there soon! and investigate it!

it's number one on the list of haunted places in Blatimore so i'm hoping that some good will come out of it.

I'm planning to take pictures and use EVP's I am also bringing a pyschic along, as well, a very good friend of mine one who is sensitive to the paranormal.

I too have heard of things occurring there. Although, seeing is indeed believing. He is one of my favorite writers, and I do hope to get the privilege of touring there one day.

I have never been. I recently heard a piece on the NPR station here in Philadelphia. Some Poe scholars were discussing what city deserved to be considered the "home" of Poe. They pointed out that while he had family in Baltimore and died there, most of his important writting was done in Philadelphia.

I would like to see if the house he lived in while in Philly is still there, and open to the public, but would also like to visit the Poe house in Baltimore.

With me, it seems, the closer a famous place is to where I live, the less likely I am to go visit it. We lived in the Philadelphia area for over 7 years before we went to see the Liberty Bell and Independance Hall...And we only went then because we had out of town visitors!

I look forward to learning more of the Poe house in this thread.

i just saw a show on this on tv yesterday they claim the cemetary where he is buried (westminister burial ground) is supposed to be haunted by his spirit

I did visit once but found it to be as normal as can be. Nothing happened to me. :(

mmm normal? halloween night marks my date perhaps the voices will come! I do infact hope so and will tell u all what i find maybe even take some pictures! so i can put them up on here!

Its nothing really special except a museum. I went there after reading in my families genealogy book that he was my ancestor.

I didn't feel any spirits lurking around or weird energy vibes.

I had no idea he was haunting his own house O.o wasent he mad or something?

I have never been but I have a great idea of a gift for him.

He never heard his prose Nevermore recited by any voice except his own.

All of his other works were recited to him by one of his family members.

Poe is sadly missed by his fans, but he has been a great source of income for many that followed after.

I personally never heard that the poe house was haunted, i think i have heard something about his grave being haunted but maybe i am mixing the stories up, but i guess that would be logical for him to haunt the house that he lived his life at...

that would be a great vacation and i would love to see some pictures.. i am intriged to see pictures of that kind of stuff..

i hope his home is haunted so i can hear the ghost stories..

Someone has been putting a rose on his grave on his birthday for years...yet no one has ever seen anyone put it there. I would not expect a lot in Baltimore, but wear body armour if you have it. Lot of stray bullets there.

I would love to go there and I have heard many stories of his home.

i've driven by the house a number of times. i have never heard of it being haunted by i have heard rumor his grave site is haunted. Good luck what ever you find.

I know of another Poe home, which is in Bronx NYC. I have pictures of that house, somewhere.

Well my lovely wife DarkAngelGina did the looking up for me of the Poe House in Philadelphia. It is where he wrote many of his famous works and is currently open as a museum.

I will post some more details and a link sometime this evening. Hopefully we can go check it out soon and report back!

i known of some one going to poes home and explored all around and they didnt feel anything or see anything abnormal but who knows what can happen, just because one sees dont mean all will

I didnt know you could go to his house. do they open it for tours ? here is the thing... if it is a tour... youre most likely not going to get toomuch of a paranormal response. the less amount of ppl there the more likely the ghosts will come out to play. ive been on tours were the place didnt even feel haunted. when i went back alone i managed to jimmy the lock and get in (a hotel in tampa) to the room. it was a totally different experience when i was alone. there was a different energy. a strong one.

i have seen his home a few times all i fealt was a very lage sadness in it that was all in truth i think that home will always be in a state of unrest

I was there, but I never went to his actual house. I hope the next time I'm in the area that I'll go. It was kind of strange feeling around the house though.

I have not visited his grave or his home.
But I have heard that unusual things have happened... I once saw on TV a team of paranormal investigators went to his grave site and tried to record some voices with white noise... They came up with a shy and coy "Hello". It could've been anyone in that cemetery... But someday I will visit his grave. No questions about it. I could really care less about unusual things happening... I just want to leave him something and visit. :]

I dont think there is anything haunt worthy about his place other then the sad memories that befell him and his family

hum thats true to he should be left alone but sence he is a historian as such i think shouldnt he be studied and looked at..

Never had the pleasure, but think it would be interesting to see what would happen. He was a unique individual, and has written some awesome stuff. It's a shame that he never experienced his popularity in his lifetime. Maybe he likes the visitors!!!

I have visited his home here in Virginia several times and nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to me personally but once when I was there a woman that was in the "tour" of the house fell to the ground for no apparent reason and no one could figure out why or explain it.

I've never been, but I am definitely interested in visiting the one in Baltimore, and the one in Philly. Not because I believe either to be haunted, but just to enjoy a great piece of history. Both houses are close enough for me to make day trips out of them.

There is a Poe Cottage on Fordham Road in the Bronx. Been there but didn't experience anything more than tightness but that's probably because the place is so small. It's about the size of a bedroom

Id like to know where the stories of haunting in Poes home came from. Just because someone writed brilliant tales or horror, doenst mean they are going to hang around being miserable.

Makes me wonder if in 100 years someone is going to start saying Stephen Kings Home is haunted.

I went to his home in Philly and was not impressed.
I did not feel that any of who he was remained in the house. It was rather run down and sad. Still he remains one of my favorite writers.

ONe of my classes right now in school is a Poe/Hawethorne elective, and my teacher went to baltimore to visit poe...she said that the pub nearby, where supposedly, Eddie was broght before he died is extremely haunted., if you go there, look at teh light fixtures! they should have the lightbulbs ducktaped down, so that the resident "ghost" doesn't knock them out

OH, and I just remembered, if you go on his birthday, there is a man clad in black that goes to Poes grave and leaves a single red rose, pretty creepy, but no one really wants to find out who the guy is.

I have never been, but would love to go to either home of the great E.A. Poe. Although he seems to have been quite mad (and I'm sure he may have been a tad bit touched in the head) he did enjoy a good Opium binge now and then. This was quite prevalent in some of his work, but as many might say "it's just not the same once they get clean." And poor Mr. Poe was more than likely on an opium induced voyage when he left that fateful night, leading to his demise. May he rest in peace.

Poes house in Philadelphia is still around and i believe open to the public for touring. If i remember right it was in the society hill/penns landing area of Philly. He did do alot of his writings in Philly, but he also lived in the Baltimore area a good bit as well as mentioned above a bit in another post. =]

HEY... reading this thread must be why I had a wierd dream about meeting Edgar Alan Poe! It made NO sense to me why I would have a dream like that but as soon as I saw him my dream.... like converted into a completely different dream and I was like "hey... where's Edgar Alan Poe?... this dream just ripped me off." lol, it was really annoying.

I've been. Nothing happened to make me think it may be haunted. It was great to experience the history of the place though. In my opinion, if you're a Poe fan, it's worth the trip even if it isn't haunted.

I'd certainly love to visit there. Though, I doubt its haunted.
